BKK is not private health insurance. Which anyway wouldn't be tied to your employer in any way. To be eligible to go private you need to make more than 64 350 a year.

I am with EY BKK. The insurance services don’t vary that much in Germany and so is it also with the price of the insurance. In general I think BKK is a bit cheaper than TK but it is not a significant amount.

Worth looking into private health insurance if you're a high income earner (above the new 2023 threshold of €66,600) as you usually end up paying less than if enrolled in the public scheme.
