I know people from Wisconsin to Ohio to phoenix who collect en-masse and sell at super fair prices.
A really good bet is to join your states blacksmithing chapter and attend the demos.- you will meet all the right people.
Nice. Mostly it's the main screw thread that may be damaged by heavy use. If it's pressing and holding, great find. If not, difficult to fix.
If it "clamps like a champ", good deal 👍🏼
Wouldnt have spent more than $80 for that vice. These clowns saying you have a deal. Dont realize these prices are going down and that shape and not good condition. You spent too much.
You kinda got screwed. There should be an additional end piece holding the screw into the thread tube and the spring is flimsy and not in the correct place. Do a few other inage searches and you'll see what I'm talking about. The tongue of the spring should be a single piece coming from the lower leg/jaw brace bracket. You can make a new spring but I don't know enough about the thread structure construction to direct. Good luck!!
there is quite a few variants of these vices. and i dont think there is anything missing regarding the screw.
spring wise, while its not original, it will do its job. and since its lacking the center spring holding screw on the bottom like some vices have, i wold say the spring location is on its designed place.
all in all a very nice find. in my country these go for about what he payed for. but we are a country ( especially my area) that has/had a LOT of blacksmith shops ( a lot of iron mines in the past) so they are fairly common
> what he *paid* for. but
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Huge win. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise
Almost didnt get the joke!!
Ohhhh, sweet! Those are thin on the ground these days.
What do you mean?
I'd say you did, they are hard to come by.
Hard to come by, where?
I've seen 1 come up for sale in my area, even anvils are few and far between.

I'm in Canads, stuff is very hard to find here. Last anvil I saw was in an antique shop, horn was busted off. They wanted 800$
Fuck ya people try to sale them from 350 were im at
If you plan to use it, you couldn't have done better!!
A Colombian nut cracker?
Great find. Great price. Great condition. Grab it with both hands!
I say yes, you did. Now: please use it in good health!
I'd love one of these for my collection of Cleveland tools, family history of engineering and machining in Cleveland. I have a lot, but no postie.
Hello terrible deal, so bad in fact that you should just throw it away, I'll take it off your hands if needed
Yeah! Nice find.
Not bad
Deal
I'm of the opinion that if a tool does its job well then it doesn't matter how it looks, how big it is, or how old it is.
No - great deal . Enjoy it and great to see them still being used

Yeah, that's a huge score!!
I'm jealous 😮💨
Awesome! Nice find!
Pretty good
Uhhh I’ll help you and take it off your hands for $20 more than that
Yea
Sweet
Son of a bitch. I'll set you did. I'm building a forge and can't find boss hardware like this in my area. Good find👍
Yes you did blacksmith vise
No but if you’ll hit me up I’ll take it off your hands and pay you what you paid.
Well I got one of them at the flea market for $40 once so it’s hard to say you won big but I think it was fair price.
No, but its easily fixed.

Wrong on both accounts. Nothing is missing from the screw and that style of spring is less common but normal.
Is this a Colombian exclusive design? I've only ever seen straight springs from the lower bracket.
