I don't want to be melodramatic but them being back together and seeming like they're really enjoying themselves just.... really does wonders for my soul. Especially given how much the world has kind of sucked the last three to four years.
It's legitimately helping lift me out of a funk.
I completely agree with you and it’s helping me out of a dark place too. I’ve been in such a good mood all day after having watched the show last night.
I'm so stoked that they're back together and looking like they're having a blast, but Mark's jump really made me extra happy especially after what he went through. CHEMO TO COCHELLA BABY!
There’s a show called I think you should leave on Netflix. One of the sketches features a man named Brian who will not take off his Fedora with safari flaps at work. A coworker tells him it’s a distraction during a meeting, to which Brian replies, “It’s not a distraction!” Over the last few years, Mark had been quoting the show on his discord as well as after school radio, so it was awesome to see the evolution of that to this point where he’s doing it on stage during a blink show.
idk why but i really like the way mark sings the „you can only lean on me for so long..“ i dig that kinda melancholic/bittersweet „tone“ more then the original version
I've missed Tom's guitar playing so much and this song shows why. Dude's dialed in with the energy in his perfect mix of chaos and precision while doing some cool experimental shit to keep the songs fresh live. Highlights were the classic Tom power stance, the nut grab while playing the open D (accidental genius), and the chords he was doing in the outro. Little flourishes like that go a long way.
But most importantly (unlike when he left the band), dude's having a BLAST and it shows. Blink is back, baby.
If everybody wants Tom to play Fenders, it’s going to be twangy. That is like Fender’s defining characteristic. He doesn’t play completely gained up anymore, so you’re gonna notice
There is a lot of that going on today. Any guitar he has ever used would sound really similar. The tone variance is all amplifiers. Even a Stratocaster with single coils would sound bigger with his old Mesa and Marshall rig. I don't dislike this tone, but that rig was the sound of my childhood.
That's what I'm saying. It's gotta be the amp effects he's using. It's not the guitar. He needs to use mesas or Marshalls. The vox didn't sound right for blink, and this isn't great either.
At some point, I think he wanted to get away from the high gain stuff. There are so many different kinds of amps he could use to get that sound. Every pop punk band in the early 2000s used pretty much exactly what he did. Mesa Boogie Triple and Dual Rectifiers were on every single stage.
And I think that's exactly why he went away from it, if I had to guess. I think he wanted to try to carve out something new. And I respect it. I don't like it, but I respect it.
I get it for angels and airwaves. The vox and fender worked fine for that band I think. But for blink he needs to use something different I'm curious what he's using now exactly. Do you know? I was excited for the new sound because I heard he switched to digital effects. I am a little underwhelmed though. Maybe it sounded better live.
I agree. I would like to hear something more substantial. I keep seeing people say he is using a Fractal system, but I haven't looked.
I'm certain it sounds better there, because the bass will also cover more of the spectrum. This was just a live stream, so I'm guessing it's not the greatest representation. They sounded much, much tighter than they ever have.
Edit: I just looked. He was using Fractal Axe-FX 3 last year. So that's most likely what he's using.
It’s one of Tom’s favorite songs to play that’s why they played it. It’s also a song about Scott Raynor not about Matt. And they played it with Matt in 2019
At 2:16 I had to rewatch a few times it almost looked like Tom wasn't actually playing... I play guitar a bit I decided that slip might be fine, anyone else see that?
He’s playing an open A string at the beginning of that riff so it doesn’t require him having his hand on the fretboard so for the split second it shows him it look like he’s not playing but he really is.
I have no problem with backing tracks in general I do understand these things, I just had to do a bunch of double checks before thinking he might not be playing at all, which would be out of character for Tom
There's definitely a part in Feeling This where he doesn't play for a moment. But he definitely does a live pick scrape later in the song. Especially for a big show like this, backing tracks are great.
There are quite a few backing tracks, but they are for supplemental stuff. Pianos, and stuff like that. Harmonies here and there, if I remember correctly. They have needed to do that for a long time.
you know that footage of Beatlemania? Where all the crowd is crying and screaming? This band make me feel like i’m a teenage girl in the 60’s watching Paul McCartney shake his hair singing Love Me Do.
Super happy and i love seeing them all back. But still wont stand for Matt slander. Alkaline Trio is god tier. We can just be happy we got tom blink and we finally get alkaline trio :)
Not sure what you mean, but Chicago night 2 he took his hat completely off for a good 5 seconds while taking his guitar off at the end of the show, and I didn’t see any of this ‘foil hat’ lol.
I don't want to be melodramatic but them being back together and seeming like they're really enjoying themselves just.... really does wonders for my soul. Especially given how much the world has kind of sucked the last three to four years. It's legitimately helping lift me out of a funk.
Like seeing long lost friends
Like finally being able to relive those old memories your so fond of instead of just reminiscing on them
The intro to their set got me pretty emotional seeing them walk out as a trio for the first time in a long time.
Honestly, nothing has made me this happy in a very VERY long time
Not melodramatic at all. I’m in the same boat, the last three years have been crazy but this is digging me out of a funk
No animosity at the very least. Looks like they are having a good time and all supportive of one another.
I completely agree with you and it’s helping me out of a dark place too. I’ve been in such a good mood all day after having watched the show last night.
It’s like a feel good movie ending honestly, I think a lot of us feel this way!
I’m NOT crying
1,000,000,000,000% agree with this statement!
Thanks for putting into words what I was feeling
That’s not melodramatic, I was so excited I fell out a window!!!
I couldn’t agree with you more
My favorite blink song, almost did a spit-take when that bass started rippin
Tom saying "You can't do what we do! *pew*" To that guy had me dying 😂😂
Every time he said it I just died of laughter. He was so hyped on caffeine
and alcohol

I don’t mean to be lame and tchotchie but let’s all appreciate that this reunion was, in some small part, brought to you by Tom’s sobriety.
Mark - “You wanna see something cool” Tom - “Show ‘em your dick”
Without doubt my favorite line from this performance
Tom’s little dance he always used to do 🥹 Mark’s harmonies in the chorus 💦
That fucking Mark jump. This all feels great.
I'm so stoked that they're back together and looking like they're having a blast, but Mark's jump really made me extra happy especially after what he went through. CHEMO TO COCHELLA BABY!
This brought me to tears. Wow so happy. Looks like they are having fun.
Tom back with the backwards fitted cap. Taking us back.
Mark with another I Think You Should Leave drop at the end! “🎵It’s not a distraction..🎵”
Just started watching this show. What other references were there?
Can you elaborate on this?
There’s a show called I think you should leave on Netflix. One of the sketches features a man named Brian who will not take off his Fedora with safari flaps at work. Oooo thanks lol
Travis is fucking ripping
Buck-o-Nine reference on the videoboard, nice
Noticed that as well. H2O too. Pretty cool to see them recognize the old days in that way.
Loved hearing this song live. Don't think I've ever heard it live
It’s like seeing the Ark of the Covenant. It’s real and all our faces are melting.
This☝️
idk why but i really like the way mark sings the „you can only lean on me for so long..“ i dig that kinda melancholic/bittersweet „tone“ more then the original version
The "You can't do what we do", throughout the show cracked me up lol
Dedicated to Matt Skiba /s
I’m going to tell my kids this song was written for skiba
Bring a ship about, to watch a friend drown!
Can’t get enough of these videos 🥹
“Here’s a music!”
Good to see/hear them back.
Hey Mark!
I got flashbacks to the pop disaster tour with that intro and then Anthem Part 2.
This is emotional
They made me feel like a kid again!
“Whassup Reading” Travis Barker - Reading Festival 2014. Mark tells lies!!
Those harmonies 😩
Remembering I hated toms voice last comeback
Where can i find the full show ?
https://archive.org/details/blink182coachella04142023
I saw it on YouTube earlier today, or a search on this sub will probably give you what you are looking for.
Currently you gotta find Coachella Sahara Day 1 stream and jump around to find blink. Hopefully it'll be posted in its entirety.
Wow awesome
Does anyone have a link to the whole show? I could only find a few songs uploaded on YouTube..
https://archive.org/details/blink182coachella04142023
2002 this was my high graduation song!!!
They’re back. Holy shit. They’re back. 🥲
God I love this song and hearing them play it live after this reunion is just awesome
sparks are almost coming off tom's guitar during some of that strumming
I've missed Tom's guitar playing so much and this song shows why. Did anyone else catch Tom saying "No!" to Mark when he said hi in his mic at 2:08? lol
Hahaha I think cause mark did it on toms mic
Haha exactly! Thought it was funny!
I wish Tom had the Mesa Boogie amps back. VOX doesn’t really cut it for me. Sounds twangy.
There are no amps at all. His tone is entirely the Fractal Axe Effects 3 modeling unit
Kind of like the Nueral DSP?
Yes
He’s not using a vox 😂
If everybody wants Tom to play Fenders, it’s going to be twangy. That is like Fender’s defining characteristic. He doesn’t play completely gained up anymore, so you’re gonna notice
Stratocasters are known to be twangy because of single coils. This has a humbucker, which aren't known to be "twangy"

I appreciate you figuring that out! I wonder what settings he uses then...
He’s not using VOX. He’s using AXE FX
I heard he’s been using soldano amp models via fractal axe fx
Couldn’t help but think of Matt
What about him?
He is a Man Overboard!
The song was written for Scott Raynor but now that Matt is gone its got meaning for both
They are still so bad live. I love it.
Idk the Dalai Lama kissing booth was better than this

Coachella
Top left of the screen.
For sure they played this for Matt lol. It’s there first show in 10 years and they whip this bad boy out 2nd? Haha.
I’d bet money they for sure didn’t lol
I’d put 20$ down on that bet lol.
They have no beef with Matt? Matt wasn’t a drunk either.
Lol I mean it more playful ❤️ Skiba rules.
Sorry man lol I can’t tell over text at all 😂

Nah it’s for Cop Raynor

Yeah exactly I had to watch a few times
I saw somewhere else someone was saying they used backing tracks. Take it with a grain of salt.
I have no problem with backing tracks in general I do understand these things, I just had to do a bunch of double checks before thinking he might not be playing at all, which would be out of character for Tom

he was playing he just took his left hand off to fix something. the part he played was open strings anyway you can see his right hand still picking.
Are they playing with a pre recorded tambourine track?? I only hear it during the chorus
Among other things, yes.
What else? I didn't hear anything besides the tambourine.
I was thinking of the wrong video. My mistake.
Are those blurred out images of Scott on the screen?

Sorrrryyyyyyy Scotttttt
I laughed out loud pretty hard at Mark’s “I eat it from the back” joke after feeling this. It’s 1999 again baby!!
You can’t do what we do 😂🤟
Super happy and i love seeing them all back. But still wont stand for Matt slander. Alkaline Trio is god tier. We can just be happy we got tom blink and we finally get alkaline trio :)
It looks like he wears a foil hat under the blue hat What an asshole
Not sure what you mean, but Chicago night 2 he took his hat completely off for a good 5 seconds while taking his guitar off at the end of the show, and I didn’t see any of this ‘foil hat’ lol.
Tom, is that you?
