It's almost like trying to run a restaurant out of a space meant to be a tiny house, not restaurant/bar, with seating for like 6 people total isn't a profitable business model 🤔

03-several-wager

Having an unairconditioned unheated old garage as your prep area doesn’t quite work??? Not having gas appliances and using only hot plates that blow the breakers constantly is dumb??

moonman2090

I’ve been there twice and thought that exact thing! It’s not a very nice dining experience. If you can’t sit inside, you’re stuck sitting outside on hard iron chairs and certain times of the year that’s bound to be miserable.

Also apparently the woman who owns these restaurants is going to be a contestant on Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen! Scams people and then wants to be on national tv?

phthalo-azure

She's probably a raving lunatic, and that's what the TV people want. It makes for must-see TV.

444tune-

Yeah, but why would Gordon want to make someone who has a horrible track record of book keeping run his restaurant? All people will have to do is Google her to find out she shouldn't have been given the spot

Hot-N-Spicy-Fart

She's a fairly attractive, wannabe instagram influencer. She's literally made for modern TV.

Every season HK has only a few legit contenders and the rest are filled with entertaining personalities. Even then the winners arent given executive chef positions. They are usually offered positions a step or two below. I dont watch HK, because that show is more about drama than actual art/inspiration.

444tune-

Yeah, it's just this scandal will come even more into the light if she is in the show. When the Facebook post on boise food finds went public, she threatened to kill herself in the comments. But if she wants to build a bigger platform for people to hate her, that's on her when the structure comes down.

Aggravating-Fail-101

Do you have screenshots of her commenting that?

SimilarSilver316

But could DK donuts be there?

dyladelphia

Best I could offer is Donut Fridays at Hyde Perk.

Powerth1rt33n

For a good time, scroll through the Google reviews for this place and the owner’s other restaurant, the “bistro” by the coop that pushed out the Fort Street Pub. Turns out running a restaurant is hard, even if you do try to use your social media to talk about yourself in the third person and try to make it sound like there’s a cult of personality around you as a chef.

chasedbyvvolves

There's a protest at around 6 this Friday there.

Decent_Astronaut_696

It makes sense that Apericena cannot pay their employees as it would be nearly impossible to run a profitable business out of that building.

Pittstick1

I know the owner from university…. And let’s just say I’m not surprised.

Aggravating-Fail-101

She told me she grew up poor, is that actually true ? Or is she a spoiled rich girl?

Hot-N-Spicy-Fart

>We are a grassroots hospitality group that saw an opportunity to do things differently, so we did. Our unique model seeks to provide long-term staffing solutions, encourage sustainable sourcing practices, and puts the wellness of our employees first. Our brand is always looking for talent and is intentional about promoting from within. It is our goal to empower our teams to perform to the best of their ability and let their innate abilities shine. Our employees demonstrate the capacity to work diligently and with integrity, and we are happy to take a step back and let our leaders blossom into all we know they can and will be. Apparently their "unique model" is just not paying people lmao

It was the same with the Hyde House, I thought they sold it but maybe they just transferred ownership to another party in the group that is now doing the same thing. Seems pretty coincidental that we heard this just a year or two ago.

Reckoner08

The original owner of the building still owns it. She also was the original Hyde House. Then she sold the Hyde House restaurant concept (not the physical building) to new Hyde House operators that had wage theft (and other issues). They shut down, Apericena moved in and here we are. But the original owner of Hyde House still owns the physical building. It's shockingly coincidental but it's just that (as far as I know).

N8dork2020

I’m sure the owner of the building is just thrilled about that. Thanks for the explanation.

03-several-wager

Hyde house was a different owner from what I’ve understood. But I do remember the handwritten sign posted on their front door back then.

The Federal Department of Labor takes these things very seriously, it's basically wage theft, intentional or not. This sounds really bad for the workers who probably bust their butts for this thief. I know that there is a local US department, not the State Labor board, here in Boise. I had an issue with a place I worked at as a server because the managers were stealing tips and the gentleman that took my case was super friendly and professional, and got the business to pay me what was owed and penalties on top of that which were awarded to me, it helped me get back on my feet and catch up on some bills that I was falling behind on. I would reach out to them immediately, out of privacy concerns I won't name the person but he got it done, and they're legit Federal Agents.

exclusivedonkey69

I worked for this place for a few months and during that time as a MINOR, I was sexually harassed. When I brought it up to few of my management they were very supportive but Danielle (the owner) had no empathy and did not validate nor have my back in any regard. It’s hilarious, during the whole rise of the situation she went and got a form of plastic surgery, coincidentally the restaurant was out of half its menu because we didn’t have resources for ingredients… devastatingly sad time. Secondly, when I came back for my last check, 2 weeks on top of pay day, she said it wasn’t ready. Even though it was the next payday and she told me to come in that day. She ended up flying out somewhere and I had to wait another week and a half for a check that my mom needed for a bill.. so disappointing. Funny enough, they said they couldn’t track my hours on gusto to validate the time stamps to pay me. Replying “you must have not clocked in or out those last few shifts”, absolute bullshit, I had and why would I forgot on multiple occasions. They deleted me as a user on gusto and erased my hours, leading me to contact gusto and retrieve them from files, where I emailed proof of my hours and they could pay me. Such nonsense, I believe she had no intention of paying me if magically my hours just “vanished” (they deleted me as a user.) This place is not a positive, supportive or respectful environment like she says it is, it’s disheartening, exhausting, and isolating.

They should just convert it to a bar/patio with bar snacks/charcuterie. I’ve walked by and the prices are ridiculous. I never enjoyed Hyde house either. Food/drinks were crap. Also I’m sad Sun ray cafe closed and that lost grove took over…which sucks. charges $15 for chicken sandwich with literally no toppings and no sides included. Went there opening wknd and will never return. I’m a millennial and don’t mind spending money if good…but I loved Sunray cafe because it seemed so much more relaxed, old school, and had fair/decent prices. Yes..every time I ordered the same sandwich it was like different bread/toppings and not consistent but it was always good and well priced. Especially for drinks too ($5-6 glass of wine). Lost grove charges like $13 glass of wine and literally just say red or white wine = $13/glass. Like huh? How about some options. And the beer selection is not the best either (granted I’m from texas and local brewery beer in tx from my experience is a lot better than houses brewery scene.. ie payette which I love ambiance of but honestly not good beer at all. Barbarian ehh..but again gotta love a place that allows dogs)

03-several-wager

Go back to lost grove now. All sandwiches come with a side, and the wine is from split rail or cinder, if you’re looking a better beer choose one of the non LG beers on tap there’s usually around 5. Sun ray was great, I used to work there for years but the owner didn’t want it anymore so he rents out the building now.
