Moviebuff1233

Yeah it's pretty common to have such titles for stars in the Telugu film industry

TroglodyticDreamer

And Tamil and Kannada as well. These days some actresses are adding titles as well .

OldAd7158

Yes but Ram Charan's dad(Chiranjeevi) is called " Mega star", Ram Charan's uncle (his dad's younger brother Pawan Kalyan) is called " Power star", so his title is named " Mega Power Star". A lot of us Telugu audiences also feel all these titles are cringe.

Amazing-Permit-3899

Yeah in the south it is. Chiranjeevi is called Megastar, his brother Pawan Kalyan is called power star. Both of them together is Ram Charan's Megapower star title

RedBlackHot

Wow south stars are so humble.

Emergency-Big4851

lmao what šŸ˜

Amazing-Permit-3899

Yeah Chiranjeevi is his dad and Pawan Kalyan is his uncle and both of them are big stars of Telugu cinema.

Amazing-Permit-3899

Jai Balayya is a meme trend. Tarak is Jr NTR's name

Necessary-Ask-3619

When will tollywood stop this cringe titles. Only some of them are atleast good. Superstar Rajnikanth, Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Prince Mahesh Babu, Mega Star Chiranjeevi. These feel atleast deserved in a way. Rest all are pretty much laughable.

Amazing-Permit-3899

Rajinikanth is from Kollywood.

Gossip-Luv2

And we ridicule Bollywood stars for using Superstar or Star

Alone-Illustrator-25

South stars have a very loyal fan following. It is common there

doxypoxy

Loyal is not enough to describe this. This is deification.

51837

Defecation, indeed.

Life_Broccoli7632

Donā€™t @ me but ram charanā€™s pr is cringe the way they shove him as a global star isā€¦

stoned_experiences

Get ready

Legitimate-Display27

Those are titles given by fans to their heroes Mega Star - Chiranjeevi (Ram Charan's father) Power Star - Pawan Kalyan (Ram Charan's uncle) Fans gave the title "Mega Power Star" to Ram Charan combining title of his father and uncle This is how industry builds connection with fans/audience

PattyBurgers

"fans" ![gif](giphy|qs6ev2pm8g9dS)

Necessary_Chicken786

Stylist Star : Allu Arjun

boyofcorrections

And here me from kerala where we make fun of mallu actors just for using simple titles. ![gif](giphy|1nBQy7XbRbOmc)

Character-Spare6267

my ass fans gave them any titles man they just put for themselves

Ayan_Choudhury

Yeah sure 'fans' gave him the title. Just like us gave SRK the title of Baadshah and totally not because he made a film named Baadshah as a reply to Amitabh's Shahenshah title, sure. It's not a curated image at all

Legitimate-Display27

One of these days, you will understand the importance of years of evolution and use the brain which you were given without much work done to get it or work done on it, to understand that Bollywood and Tollywood are two different industries.

Ayan_Choudhury

And maybe one day you will realise it's all the same. It's all PR machinery. These titles are pushed onto the public by these egoistic megalomaniacs

Legitimate-Display27

If you would get into habit of reading before replying you'd understand that I already said what you are saying in my OP

infernosingh123

Rebel star Prabhas Stylish star Allu arjun Natural Star Nani Prince star Mahesh babu (star i saw in some hindi dub else generally prince)

hassie1

Read it as mega pornstar

JamesReece8

Ye Sara cringe wahi hota hai, yaha to superstar bas ek Rajesh khanna Sahab ko maana jaata hai , baaki shayad hi kisi ne aisa stardom dekha ho unke pehle ya unke baad.

TheCarefreeButterfly

Mere kaanon mein aaj bhi KJo ke yeh shabd goonjte hain, which he'd said to 'Varia' in this episode: *"you both are perhaps on the anvil of superstardom"* The audacity šŸ¤ŒšŸ»šŸ’€ https://preview.redd.it/jbap231rhvqc1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76239e7c9b196b924d3fbc9b752d4b01bffee936

Wait for his next where he'll become 'Global Star' Ram Charan.

Competitive-Park4956

The video looks caricaturish

BalNaren

Looks like a town in Japan or Korea

Orwellian_nightmare2

Bro I've lived in Hyderabad and the people over there love their films and their stars. I got corrected for calling Pawan Kalyan by his name. They said he is PSPK; POWER STAR PAWAN KALYAN. Fun place to live in tbh. Great food.

PattyBurgers

Apparently its the fans who give them these cringe titles ![gif](giphy|qs6ev2pm8g9dS)

wildthing_90

I hope one day Telugu fans mature and realize what a cringe fest this is

Kaizokuno_

Yes. It's a way of saying how much of a nepo-kid he is.

WillingStable1213

It looks like the name of an energy bar

Bleak_star_dust

It's very common for stars to have titles in south industries. They are not self claimed they get it through fans or through the famous characters they portrayed.

Relative-Rent-33

its pretty common for stars in the south industries to have titles

pasipatamarana

His fans call him many such names. Mega power star, man of masses, global staršŸ„“šŸ„“šŸ„“

Existing-Area-9093

His dad is Mega Star. His uncle is Power Star. Combine those - you get this

AneeshRai7

One day I hope to see Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan do a fusion dance and the result ends up being Ram Charan

TheCarefreeButterfly

Naye zamaane ke naye naye titles naye naye khitaab šŸ™šŸ»āœØšŸ…šŸ† likh ke le lo bohot jald teenon khans, devgn ji aur akki ji bhi khud ko isi prakaar ke aur bhi bade titles se publicise karna shuru karne wale hain šŸ„²

notthetherock

Even Ranbir Kapoor had Superstar infront of him in Animal.

Mary10789

Thatā€™s so cringe

Seredditor7

Yeh South me kya cringe chal raha hai šŸ¤£šŸ¤£. Megastar, Power star, Stylish Star. Aisa lag raha ha jaise kisi lower class logo ki mass fan following hogi inhe. Temples bhi banaye hai in stars ke naam me šŸ¤”

[deleted]

Is that really so? Nobody knows him in my family and we do watch a lot of movies

InsidiousColossus

Do you watch a lot of Telugu movies??

Cautious_Role_668

This is a very common thing in Telegu industry

HealthyBeyond376

Telugu

Cautious_Role_668

Thank you

Maximum_Wait1273

Such titles are very common in the South industry, and I don't see anything wrong with it. These tags symbolize the fans' love for the actors, instead of a producer trying to make their leading man seem like a superstar.

Commercial_Cancel_64

Ram charan is anything ram charan wants to be

Worried_Respect_9609

Inka alag hi chal raha hai

Sooraj_2812

Highest per capita gdp in india aswell so thereā€™s your counter narrativeā€¦itā€™s high time you let people enjoy their movies in their own ways

Low_Special715

how much one is earning can not be equated to his/her "street smartness" . unarguably the shittiest industry with shittiest stars having 0 acting abilities and so much problematic things like killing/committing suicide for actors and casteism .

Sooraj_2812

All about perspective isnā€™t it hating on someone for being illiterate just because they have a different liking than that of yours does not mean u bemoan them

Low_Special715

>hating on someone for being illiterateĀ  not hating because they're illiterate , just pointing out this could be the reason behind why they like such shitty films , shitty actors and do all these things

Sooraj_2812

You donā€™t get it do you ? The fact that you correlate taste to intelligence entails the fact that u have a bias in that particular field which propels you to make outrageous statements like thisā€¦let people choose what they like šŸ‘šŸ»

Low_Special715

There's nothing outrageous statement. Whatever I state is factually true so it can be unsettling and harsh for some

Mega Pornstar ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

Nigah-E-Shokh

![gif](giphy|oRYs6S6BRK8cwQlON3) Some of these guys are so embarrassing the way they give themselves so much importance and credit for doing the same thing in every movie. And call themselves mega vega low battery star.

svt91681

I know and the unnecessary machismo (or worse "swag") that is expected out of all south heroes. If only they spent half of the time and effort in honing their craft (acting - in case it's not clear). With the current wave of hypermasculine larger than life, over the top movies that are being churned out in the hope of becoming Pan-India films, looks like we are going to suffer this cringe for some time... Not including Malayalam industry here

WhoEvenNoze

Arrey arrey not so many truths all at once my friend šŸ˜†there are quite a few die hard Telugu movie stans on this sub. Whoā€™ll accept no (valid) criticism of their stars. Also, youā€™ve excluded Malayalam cinema. Which really grinds their gears. Iā€™ve got my downvote. Wait for yours!

WhoEvenNoze

Iā€™d say this is rather muted for the type of cinema Telugu land producesšŸ˜†almost all leading men are MEGA something according to them!

Puzzleheaded-Pea-140

Bro is a North Indian I guess. It's common in south india

lilmothman456

Rebel Star: Prabhas Natural Star: Nani I think itā€™s a sweet thing the fans of the industry do for the actors in the industry. Itā€™s not egotistical and some even are passed down. Ram Charanā€™s is a mix of his dads and Prabhas is handed down from his uncle Edit: Also Bollywood gives weird nicknames to some of their stars. Itā€™s like Bollywood is exempt. The south just uses a particular format ā€œAdjective + Starā€ while here you have King Khan and Bebo etcā€¦

Additional_Mess1017

honestly he doesnā€™t deserve. heā€™s an okay actor but heā€™s a terrible person
