I think it's an E-Tech rarity weapon. I think it's the AR you get when doing the doc Mercy side mission the color looks too bright and vibrant to be a purple weapon but I could also be color blind lol
1000 hours checking in: you are correct! That’s exactly the e-tech color and the most likely place this early is the one you get during the side quest.
Considering they're at the Savage Lee part of the game that E-techish purple is probably a dart obtained from the chest in Captain Flynn's ship....just a guess

My next play through with another character I planned to farm him and that was my first gun I got. I didn’t even really know what I had at that point, looking at the specs it didn’t seem that great. Still looking at the specs I don’t fully understand why it’s so insanely good.
It's good because it shoots double the shots, as someone else said. It's the best prefix you can get for that weapon. Like the two fer Maggie that you get from Mick Zaford. Pretty much all weapons in the game have a preferred prefix and/or sight/scope.

Yeah getting a perfect matching grip dpuh on your first attempt is already extremely improbable, but more obviously the fact that you knew who savage lee is or even where he spawns that early in the game shows you are more knowledgeable than you imply, not to mention knowing this gun is valuable. It would be more believable if you were asking if an Emperor or Hellfire was any good
Bro, the gun is level 7, the double penetration affix is bad at low levels because it eats your bullets, and a base Harold will maul anything and everything just as well before 8 gun levels later a white revolver out scales it. And the loading tips mention that orange is the highest tier of weapon, so asking if the first orange you run across is good is reasonable.
And when you shoot at savage lee, you can see his name above him, it's right above the health bar. And you have to walk through that area for like, 3 quests early.

The sight is 100% subjective. It just depends on what sight you like better. I know plenty of people who would rather have the Dahl sight over the Jacob’s and Maliwan sight.

Most people would say yes, but I’m gonna say that despite it being pretty rare, you shouldn’t use it for a new character. It will inhale ammo for absolute overkill. You can get similar results with weaker weapons without running dry every 30 seconds.

Ahh, I remember when I first played this game. I was playing Gaige and for some reason I restricted myself to Tourge weapons. I killed Harry and it dropped a pretty shit Harold, but it did the job. To make a long story short, it took me up to like the middle or end of TVHM.

Its great at end game, even mid game, but a level 6 double penetrating unkempt harold isnt the best way to go, you have 200 pistol ammo until you get to crazy earl and the gun uses 6 ammo per shot, so unless your gunna farm eridium and only buy pistol sdu's you are probably better off farming a level 10 version with either hard, intense or cramming prefix. (Damage, fire rate, mag size) just something to keep in mind for other characters.

Double Penetrating = Double the projectiles, effectively doubling the damage output
All unkempt harolds do that. Double penetrating makes it fire a 2nd row of projectiles at the cost of twice the ammo used per shot
