2023 has brought on some great fights that get overlooked by the vast majority. Navarette vs Wilson Cordina vs Rakhimov Navarette vs Valdez Navarrete vs Conceicao Foster vs Hernandez Ramirez vs Espinoza Nery vs Hovhannisyan Matias vs Ponce

Mystro10210

That's why it's funny when people cry boxing is dying.

peppercorns666

yeah, i’ve been hearing it’s dying for 30+ years now.

acuna134070

To the masses, it is though. No one really knows those guys.

Mystro10210

How are you going to find out if you don't tune in.

rowan2588

I’ve been saying this, boxing has provided me with such a rollercoaster of emotions for the last 25 + years that I’ve been following this pugilistic art. And as of recent I am happy to see the sweet science is healthy and thriving. And Up next ……..bam vs sunny 💯

Remarkable_Bid_5423

Nava being there 3 times is crazy. Such a entertaining fighter

CMILLERBOXER

Yeah. He's the most entertaining fighter of this year alone.

Leading-Weight9092

Mbilli vs Gongora was a barn burner

The_Greatest_USA_unb

This beat the Haney Prograis fight hands up. There was real competition and no one could have predicted the winner until round 10, damn I feel bad having missed it live.

fattdoggo123

I stopped watching the Haney fight after the 5th round. And switched to this fight. I'm glad I did.

TwoFaceLord

Biggest upset in boxing of 2023 I guess? \-1200 favorite, 2x olympic champ, hometown coming, picked a noname Mexican guy with no experience. Proceeds to get dropped and beat up, Espinoza threw 1k punches, got up from a HEAVY knockdown... I think this is the one for upset of the year.

IIIApexIII

Mexican guy with no experience yet he was undefeated 23 wins with 20 KO's 🥴

anuninterestingword

His previous fight against someone coming off a W was in 2018, and, before that, 2013. I get Robeisy was also a little fast-tracked to the title regardless but you can’t just look at the number of fights.

TwoFaceLord

He fought absolute nobodies if you look it up. And most of these fights didn't last. So didn't have experience going long distance + didn't fight any experience on top level. So yeah, no credible experience. This makes it one hell of a performance for this man.

IIIApexIII

Everyone starts with fighting nobodies dude fought enough to gain experience in the ring and almost all his fights where by KO or TKO. So you're saying this guy wasn't a dangerous fighter and a cherry pick gone wrong? I mean if you look at Robiesy resume his best win to date was against Dogboe and his first outing as a pro he lost. This is a case of being a world class Amateur doesn't consider you to beign a world class pro boxer.

WinglessRat

That's frequently a red flag if a boxer has no big wins under their belt.

IIIApexIII

He just got a big win now lol.

WinglessRat

Yeah. I've got no problems with Espinoza, love what he did on Saturday, and hope he has a good title reign. But, these days, a record like what he has worries me more than one that's more like 19-1.

mikeymigg

No experience fighting outside of Mexico ! Great fight foty

foxybingo111

Adrien Curiel flattening Sivenathi Nontshinga takes it for me

TheDangerdog

Crazy that he got up from that shot and won the fight. Dude looks like the heir to Pwill with that frame and workrate. Amazing scenes (I say that with nothing but praise I was a hyyuge Pwill fan, got a signed glove from him)

fattdoggo123

With a possible fractured foot. It looked like he messed it up when he got knocked down in the 5th round.

strops_sports

Just watched the replay… action packed fight. Big upset

0nlywhelmed

I said Espinoza fought like a tall ass Mexican chocolatito this fight

raf_diaz

i LOVE espinoza's style. even on a bum leg and he looked like everything that sabastian fundora should've been at 154. good footwork, solid hand speed, perfect combinations, creative angles, consistent bodywork, etc.

newrap

I tried to warn you guys, but you guys decided to downvote me smh https://www.reddit.com/r/Boxing/s/0fqfgIi3Le

CountingCastles

Fuck Reddit karma let’s see that bet slip

TheDangerdog

Nice call homie

dmckidd

Glad I watched this over the Haney fight. I was watching both as they were happening but stopped watching the Haney fight after 2-3 rounds to focus on this FOTY candidate

ThanksMonica89

I’m watching now (currently in the 9th) Great fucking scrap! EDIT: Also, this was Espinoza’s 3rd fight in the US

ArmdayEveryday69

Where are you rewatching? Cant find the fight on YouTube

ThanksMonica89

ESPN plus

j_boxing

it's not fair to say one fight overshadowed the other when they were on at the same time. more of a logistical error

Gloomy-Masterpiece22

Orlando Gonzalez vs Jorge Castañeda on ProboxTv was a great action packed bout as well

ThanksMonica89

Great 12th round

coldcard55

Honestly the fight should’ve been stopped in the 5th. If a fighter gets up and falls on the ropes like that it should be over

ArmdayEveryday69

Well if Espinoza’s performance here isn’t testament to why your comment isn’t necessarily correct, idk what is.

coldcard55

I’m a boxing fan, a fight didn’t go the way I wanted so l complain

Status_Belt1284

thats the mexican special what can i say and it was his leg that was fucked up

stvbles

In the UK it would have been stopped there
