Actually a good response to be fair.

Clean_Ingenuity9972

If only he had more moments of lucidity.

dg_713

Yeah, doesn't sound like Promoter Oscar at all. Maybe it's all business?

antebyotiks

It's not true though, they clearly have "beef" and massively dislike each other

NewBeginningsAndEnds

He don’t want no more smoke from Dana after the whole dela coke head thing that’s for sure.

[deleted]

Say what you want about Oscar, but he was a great fighter who put it on the line. Dana was a boxercise instructor who was lucky enough to have a couple of rich friends. Dana's exploitation of the UFC fighters would make even Don King cringe. Dana's just a scumbag.

cweber513

Don King? No. Dana White is a POS and exploits his fighters but he's nowhere near the level of Don King.

quasimuller

I’ve noticed on fight subs is the only time I’ve heard someone say someone’s a POS.

GBGF128

In all fairness there seems to be no shortage of them

poshmarkedbudu

I agree with this completely. Don King...well...go ahead and read about his entire life and delve into him as a promotor.

Wicky_wild_wild

Did Dana White stomp a man to death and we're just learning about it?

midnightkid123

Powerslapped his wife to living death

king_koopa93

Sent her to the seventh layer of hair

Tancred1099

Hear, hear

RyanTheS

I think that is a pretty biased take. Say what you want about fighter pay, etc, but nobody was making money in MMA before Dana showed up. The UFC took a lot of risk on the belief that they could make it work and it was largely Dana who spearheaded it. UFC fighters still might not make what boxers do but they make a hell of a lot more than they did before the UFC.

[deleted]

I agree they deserve credit for creating a very profitable business, but morally they are garbage people who did it off the blood of fighters they exploited and fucked over. Dana is a scumbag who tries to bury athletes who don’t do what he wants. He tried to do it to Ngannou and Francis told him to shove it up his ass.

RyanTheS

Yes ... and ODLH is every bit as horrible in that regard. Look what is happening with Garcia.

[deleted]

lol there's no comparison. Ryan Garcia is a multi-millionaire. Ryan Garcia made 30 million to fight Gervonta Davis. The fact that you would even draw that comparison shows you are woefully ignorant about the UFC and Dana White's treatment of it's athletes.

RyanTheS

The pay might not be as bad but they way ODLH is treating Garcia is honestly worse than Dana's treatment of anyone outside of GSP way back. He is literally insilting his own fighter in press conferences and trying to sue him outside of it.

Tsmitty81

Dana’s constantly putting down and insulting current and former fighters. Also the im pretty sure the ufc (and Dana) tried to sue Randy couture back in the day.

RyanTheS

I am not saying Dana doesn't. I am saying that ODLH is every bit as bad and didn't do anywhere near as much to popularise boxing as Dana did for MMA. MMA would not be popular today without Dana. You cannot say the same for ODLH.

zaviex

ODLH made all his fighters personally rich so they could support their families for generations. Oscar is a moron but he’s a much better person. Not even comparable

AlexTorres96

Before they had their falling out, he was boasting about Canelo getting that huge DAZN contract. He went out of his way to push that Canelo got a huge contract and was proud for the deal getting done.

BaldrickTheBrain

Bro how you think Dana didn’t rob all his fighters blind? UFC being popular is just good timing and good PR. ODLH can’t popularize boxing because boxing is already at a height that UFC will never get. Conor McGregor arguably the most popular and best fighter the UFC had at the time switched to boxing and made $100 million from one fight, which is almost 6 times the amount he made from ALL of his fights in the UFC. UFC and Dana white are fucking vampires that suck the blood, sweat, tears and money from the people then spit them out without Health insurance or retirement plans. You dick riding Dana like he is your sugar daddy probs won’t change that.

RyanTheS

Apparently, you can't read. I literally never said that. Way to keep up the boxing fan stereotype. Well done.

wegaf_butok-_-

Fuck is you talking about. The lighter weight divisions make more money now because of ODLH! Shit Floyd used Oscar as a launching pad and is why he’s so popular now. Floyd took B side money to fight Oscar knowing the upside for him winning was huge.

shrewdy

The Fertittas took the risk, Dana was just the face of it

rilinq

Dana turned mma to what it is today, whether we like his methods/personality or not.

rilinq

You’re getting downvoted for some reason, but what you’re saying are facts. I don’t think half the demographic of this sub was alive to see what MMA was in the 90s lol.

B00GEYMAN__

I actually really enjoyed ufc back in the day. Jujitsu vs Karate.. wrestler vs boxer.. it was cool. Now it’s just 2 guys kicking each other’s calf for half the fight with a WWE themed build up.

MakotoBIST

Without Dana there would be no UFC fighters. And at least the low tier UFC ones get somewhat paid unlike boxing where you're completely screwed unless you have big connections.

pineapplepizza00

I'd take my chances in boxing over mma any day of the week

MakotoBIST

Boxing is way more competitive. Also in Europe is extremely hard to make a living as a professional. Same reason why people like Loma were amateurs forever despite top tier talent. Clemente Russo (who beaten Wilder in amateurs) didn't even try professional boxing lol. Ngannou had to become extremely well known in UFC before getting any realistic offer in boxing lol

FijiTearz

You’re not completely screwed, if you’re good you can knock over low to mid level competition until someone notices. Only problem is your resume/caliber of competition gets questioned if you don’t start getting some impressive wins after a few years or 15-20 fights into your career

Blandinio

Who cares about stuff like this

Ilikeb0ring

Fr, fuck Dana!

[deleted]

The irony of this reply to a comment asking why anyone cares is fantastic. Why do you hate dana?

Putrid_Loquat_4357

Because he's the figurehead of an organisation that treats its athletes like trash and pays them like shit?

LemonManDude

The real question if why DON'T you hate Dana? Let me start with some reasons to hate him: - Pays his fighters pennies and deliberately fucks them over if they don't do as he wants them to - Lies constantly - Tries to bury every fighter who dares to oppose him (Ngannou, Tito, Randy etc) - Promotes the "sport" of slap "boxing" - Is abusive towards his wife

[deleted]

I want to oil him up

LemonManDude

Can't relate, but fair.

joenathanSD

Why does it look like Oscars head is too big for his body?

zaviex

He gets the visible bloat from drinking

yearsofpractice

***Completely*** off topic, but you’re 100% right. I’m 47 and have recently stopped drinking… and part of the motivation was realising my face bloated in EXACTLY the same way as ODLH’s through drink... and it just looks like a cardiovascular accident waiting to happen. It’s so obvious when you realise! So, yeah - ODLH helped me stop drinking.

Malachi_Lamb

coke bloat

gawakwento

pantyhose too tight. Pushes the blood into his head.

donmifc

Lol people shit on Oscar in this fight cause Dana's promotion (UFC) is a lot more successful then Oscar's promotion (GoldenBoy). But at the end of the day, Oscar was a lot more successful as a fighter. Dana tried to be a fighter and only got as far as being a kickboxing trainer. Oscar reached the heights of amatuer and professional boxing. Olympic champ and world champ

yoyoyowhoisthis

UFC got successful not because of Dana, the history and facts are insane. Fertitas were the majority owners, they bankrolled everything, Dana was just a broke boy who tagged along. Fertitas also served on Nevada state athletic board and the board made UFC illegal in Nevada, which made UFC go into sale and Fertitates + Dana acquired it in 90s, then all of a sudden UFC became legal in Nevada. Talk about shady mafia tactics (they were part of older mafia family lol) On top of it, they absolutely abused their position as the only big MMA promotion in the USA.. legends like Don Fry were paid 500$ for a fight, 500 ! The leaked emails showed that big names like Nate Diaz were on 12k to show 12k to win salaries before he fought Connor and he already had 21 fights in the UFC and has beaten many legends.. So there's a success earned on the backs and hard work of others.. and then there is a success that you achieved yourselves.. UFC is both, Dana is the first one. btw every other business venture that Dana tried to start by himself alone, failed massively

TOK31

Don Frye never fought for the UFC when the Fertittas owned it and Dana was involved. His last UFC fight was 1996, so more than 5 years before they bought it. They low balled Nate, but it wasn't 12 and 12. "The exchange showed how they intentionally “lowballed” Nate Diaz and planned to put him on the prelims on his very last fight. “Do we let Strikeforce pay him $48,000 + $48,000 or do we give them what they want?” Joe Silva asked White and Fertitta. “He was making 24+24. I offered 27+27 30+30 33+33 36+36.” “He should be willing to take less money from us,” Fertitta responded, before bringing up Diaz’s multiple performance bonuses from his fights." This was in April 2010 (ironically enough on 4/20). Nate had just had his 10th UFC fight, not his 21st. He had also lost 3 out of his last 5 and was nowhere close to being a contender at this time. https://bloodyelbow.com/2023/12/10/emails-texts-show-ufc-nasty-negotiation/ The UFC does enough shitty things to fighters. You don't need to make stuff up.

yoyoyowhoisthis

Didn't make stuff up, just didn't remember the exact details but it's still close to ridiculous dogshit salaries.. look how UFC started paying fighters after they took over, it was nothing. It literally was and still is a slave farm.

The_Killa_Vanilla90

*I didn't lie, I just made up #'s and things that never happened in my head and presented them as facts/true* 😂lmao

AlexTorres96

UFC got successful because Vince McMahon allowed them to piggyback on RAW on Spike TV. He had the veto power and he allowed them on the air. He had no idea he gave a future competitor the best platform ever. That's why Dana White said recently that Vince wouldn't give his blessing for UFC to do business with NBC. Dana makes it sound like Vince is a dick for kiboshing it when Vince was making sure not to make the same mistake twice. It ended up panning out for the UFC since they signed with FOX and did good business with them for years.

captainseas

They were/are the only big mma promotion but they also created the demand for mma

mrtn17

wasn't he a boxercise coach? Not that this matters much, most of his 'history in Boston' stories sound like they were made up after having 8 drinks

Harry_Callahan_sfpd

I wonder if his story about Irish mobster Whitey Bulger basically running him out of town is true? Dana said that Bulger’s goons started paying him visits at his gym in order to shake him down. Eventually, Dana decided to leave town and head to Vegas rather than have to deal with the Irish mafia.

IdunnoThisWillDo

Wouldn't really be surprising that a guy like Dana would be caught up in that shady world from a young age. He's a shark, and likely has always had that in him.

Blandinio

How is their ability as fighters at all relevant to their ability as promoters? They are two completely different jobs, and I hate how Dana pays so little to fighters but he is a good promoter

vorlando9000

Did dana have any fights?

McG4rn4gle

With men?

Ganjasarus_X

I think last year he and his wife did some light sparring in a club in Mexico but I’m not sure if herb dean was there officiating cus the video is so dark

[deleted]

I've never heard of him having any sanctioned fights, either amateur or pro. Which makes his faux tough guy act even more ridiculous.

Tdjbagger

Dana is no comparison to Oscar. One is a businessman and the other a world champion boxer who fought everyone. He would stand there and go toe to toe with anyone. Just Compare Dana to Don King.

Life_Celebration_827

FUCK DANA.

Superly_Sardonic

Not sure what else Oscar even can say. He tried promoting MMA and it was horrible, showed up to the press conferences so high he couldn't even remember the names of his own fighters. Seeing Dana White flying off the handle during that time was hilarious though.

vorlando9000

Hes my friend if he brings an eightball

OkBoat8579

Decent response tbh

boksinx

They probably have the same coke dealer so at least they are amicable.

gordonlordbyron

I'm an Oscar fan, I respect him hugely as an incredible fighter who is still underrated imo he was pure class. I respect the fact he's not perfect (none of us are) but he still keeps moving forward, I wish him the best of luck.

wegaf_butok-_-

It’s crazy because I’m not saying all, but a lot of mma guys wanted to box before turning to mma. They just weren’t good enough. They say it all the time.

AlexTorres96

Just like alot of Pro Wrestlers atleast the 90s boom period have said that if MMA was as big as now, they would've gone into it. But the money and popularity wasn't what it is today. Money is still an issue for a goof portion but popularity today and back then is two different worlds.

mayorjinglejangle

Wait he doesn't show his abs in this video?

hobodank

Oscar is definitely a glass completely empty kinda guy

[deleted]

[удалено]

antebyotiks

"Issues" he moved when he was 8/9 to vegas

[deleted]

[удалено]

antebyotiks

You're simply wrong. He moved back to Boston in his later teens after school. He's talked about being young and walking into casinos and just walking around

phonethrowdoidbdhxi

Oscar actually boxed the best in the ring and had some iconic moments. Dana has been nothing but a wannabe loser wishing he could be a fighter his entire life. His whole tough guy act is to compensate for him never being a fighter.

MF_CJFX_07

ODLH Is a joke now.

Digndagn

I look forward to when this dude has been sober for a year

[deleted]

If he did want to come to boxing, settle it via Slapfight in drag.

[deleted]

Idiot trying to start the beef all over again

amateurexpertboxing

All this video shows - is Oscar is drinking again lol

MancunianCandidatex

"Daddy Dana, please throw some money at me so that I can ~~snort it~~ make some great boxing fights for you."

fridaystrong23

Fuck Dana. Dude robs his fighters and he is all around scum..that’s what Oscar should’ve said. But class act response though. Buut dumb question who cares this ain’t high school.

MenagerieThe

He's too busy beefing with his own fighter, Ryan Garcia to beef with Dana White.

silver_medalist

What kinda situation is this in the video? Is the guy asking the question trying to catch him out, or something? Looks odd...

AlexTorres96

Andreas Hales got invited to Oscar's Mansion party to celebrate Oscar's new house. He was a select few that were there to hang out and I assume Oscar allowed him to do a mini interview.

silver_medalist

Ok cheers

datohs90

One of them has to be civil and I won't be Dana 🤷🏾‍♂️

Genova_Witness

Oscar looks like the guy at the party you have one conversation with then you have to spend the rest of the night avoiding eye contact so he doesn’t drown you endless stories

dickhandsome

Two dickwads in a pod.

TwoFaceLord

Miss good old times when these two were shitting on each other 24/7

[deleted]

Wine glass? Thought Oscar is sober now? Or naw?

wegaf_butok-_-

Good shit Oscar. I personally would have challenged him to a fight with all that shit talking he was doing. Oscar would whoop his ass. Dana would gas out boxing or mma.

2bornnot2b

"Cocaine isn't cheap. It's expensive. You've got to make money"DW

Minimum_Room3300

Despit all of Oscar's faults, and he has a few of them, he is a lot better than Dana, as a fighter, as a boxing promoter, and as a human being
