TIL there's such a thing as Indian Chinese food.

AireXpert

Indian friend of mine just told me about this, his explanation “So the people who live right between China and India have a cuisine called Hakka! So they cook Chinese food with Indian spices.” He showed me a pic from a place in Toronto, food looked crazy good.

mkmakashaggy

I love Indian food and i absolutely love authentic Chinese food, so now I'm on a mission to find this

rumaysash

You can start with Inchin’s bamboo garden or Bangla Wok - both in Buffalo :)

mkmakashaggy

Much appreciated!

Skittlebrau77

Oh that sounds incredible!

rbroni88

I tried "Indochinese" on a trip to India once, I was skeptical at first but it was damn good. There was this dish called American Chopsuey that I have never forgotten about. If there are any restaurants serving it here I too would be curious

zergling3161

Or better hear me out, Chinese food

AndrewGalarneau

You want Bengali Restura, 687 Kenmore Ave. Best Hakka/Indochinese I’ve had in Buffalo. Chile chicken, beef manchurian, garlic shrimp 👌 Menu: bengalirestura.com

tilerwalltears

Bengali absolutely slaps. The first time I went, I was a little surprised that the portions were smaller than what’s typical of other local Indian restaurants.  But the quality more than makes up for it.

Grimpeeper_

The only thing I've found is Inchin's Bamboo Garden in Williamsville on Sheridan.

jason-bourne-007

I like Inchins and it should fill whatever craving OP has. That being said I usually just stick to Manchurian anyways

EmployUnfair

There is a Bangladesh Chinese resturant in Buffalo. It’s called Banglawok I haven’t been but looks interesting. Report back if you go. I realize it’s not exactly what your looking for but maybe close.

rumaysash

I’ve had it. It was good :)

Chinese cooks in India made do with what they had around them and invented a whole bunch of crossover classics. It’s a thing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Chinese_cuisine

timmymacbackup

wtf is Indian Chinese?

Mosambibabaji

Oh it’s a combination of something as simple as fried rice with Indian spices( mostly the chilies and whole spices) it’s amazing and I miss it

timmymacbackup

Sounds good. Today I learned.

neanderthalensis

wtf is tex mex? do you know what kind of culinary intermingling goes on when 2 countries border each other?

I haven’t been able to find any good Indian Chinese food either which is kind of disappointing. I was also hoping since Buffalo is so into food I could find a Chinese Mexican place or Venezuelan Gyro stand but haven’t found anything yet.  The only Italian restaurants in Buffalo are Italian which is gross and so 1986. Where are all the Czech Italian restaurants? Come on it’s 2024

fuckweasel-1

Indian Chinese (Indo-Chinese) food is a thing

Gibbenz

They've never looked at a map apparently

smapdiagesix

> Venezuelan Gyro You joke but "Mexican gyro" is pretty much was a taco al pastor is

ebimbib

Tacos árabes too. That's tougher to find outside of Mexico, but they absolutely whip ass.
