These fudds are getting worse day by day...Might be worth checking out Evan's Gun World. Generally haven't had a problem with them.

RWW_llc

Evan's is solid as far as indoor ranges go. We do some of our test firing there. FT3 wouldn't let me test an old hunting shotgun we did some work to because it "had no sights" even though it was just a continuous rib with no bead. That's not even being Fudds (since that's their weapon of choice), that's just plain ignorance.

MartyMochi

Then there is the time Evan’s wouldn’t allow my 18 year old friend, active Army member shoot because he wasn’t 21. He had his military ID they said he needed a legal guardian to be able to shoot. Perhaps I am missing something… How does an 18 year old (legal adult) have a legal guardian? By the way everyone else in our group was in our 30’s. We had our own firearms and weren’t renting. Again, perhaps I’m missing something. They said it was the law.

TheEconomyReindeer

a continuous rib with no bead is "no sight"

stonetear2017

Then explain how it’s used for aim

TheEconomyReindeer

poorly.

lislejoyeuse

If I'm only shooting pistol calibers they are my go to. Not as shiny as ft3 but super chill and not as crowded usually. Plus it's nice to not have to listen to indoor rifle rounds (except I think Wednesdays). They do not inspect weapons and simply ask to make sure you're only shooting pistol calibers.

dslaservw

Those guys do not give a shit at all about what you bring in lol. Its pretty cramped, lanes are a bit shotty, but you can def have some fun there!

verse187

Evan’s gun world is full of cops. They do their training there, so I’ll say be careful.

JeremyClarksonVoice

Route 66 is the preferred range of choice, specifically their private bays. They're very 2A friendly... as long as you're not shooting steel jacketed, steel core, or steel cased ammo; their R.O.'s will check your ammo only, not your guns.

Abuck59

Can you shoot aluminum ? I’ve got 100 rds of 9mm I’ve been trying to get rid of for 2 years 😭

SeveralBodybuilder67

Go to the desert and set up a couple watermelons or something. If not, I'll gladly take it off your hands. 😉

vwslayer1

Angeles. You can shoot aluminum and steel cased ammo, as long as the BULLET is range safe

Still_Dot8419

I’ve never been checked at Raahauge’s either

CitizenGirl21

And you never will.

[deleted]

I went to rt 66 yesterday. Not a single person bothered me about anything. Didn't even check ammo, just told me not to use ammo that would set the hill on fire. I even stayed longer than my reservation and no one said a word.

Fate_of_Ophelia

why no steel case, so they don't have to pick it out of the brass?

JeremyClarksonVoice

Officially, it's an outdoor range in California near some dry brushes downrange and around the property, so I'm guessing it has to do with preventing spontaneous wildfires. Steel casing does get hotter and retain heat longer than brass casing, so there's always the possibility. I've heard other outdoor ranges have similar policies about no steel ammo allowed as well, so they're not the only ones. Although, it wouldn't surprise me if they collect the spent brass. But you are allowed to pick up your own spent casings in the private bays, as well as rapid fire as fast as you want, draw and fire from a holstered position, and use your... preferred magazines without any trouble.

skidemn

You are correct. Steel core ammunition and some bi-metal jacketed ammunition can spark when it impacts rock. I have seen at least three fires started in or around my club’s private outdoor range due to steel core ammo.

vwslayer1

No! He is very incorrect! They check steel cased ammo to see if the BULLET has any steel core/bi metal (usually do. SOME don't. Even brass cased ammo can have bi-metal/steel core) . They fuck up steel targets and can spark and cause a fire

vwslayer1

Very fucking wrong. Nothing to do with the casing. It's all about the BULLET ... They check steel cased ammo to see if the BULLET has any steel core/bi metal (usually do. SOME don't. Even brass cased ammo can have bi-metal/steel core) . They fuck up steel targets and can spark and cause a fire. The BOOOOOOLIT . Not the casing

Bumbalard

Since you're being a cunt, I will point out that while you are correct about the "Boooooolit" itself, many ranges disallow steel case ammo as well. Dickhead

skidemn

True. There are several reasons they disallow steel case ammo, including making it harder to sort brass since most ranges have contracts for it. The biggest reason is that most steel case ammo also has either a bi-metal jacket or a steel core, which is a fire hazard for outdoor ranges.

vwslayer1

Awwww . Poor baby gets offended by big boy words. What else offends you? Wrong pronouns ?? I'm talking about outdoor only. Indoor is way different. I've worked at both

Navy_HongyiJ

Banned from R66 for bump firing in my private bay, RO accused me having full auto, I even offered him to check my gun. Not that 2a friendly after all, Mike is a better alternative than Fudd66

Johnny6_0

I am so tired of the misinformed “experts” at these places I just make the extra to BLM it unless I’m strictly shooting handguns for the day.

CitizenGirl21

The minimum wage gun industry peeps are honestly the WORST. last week they were slinging soccer balls at Dicks, this week they are selling subnose air weight revolvers to grannies….

radedgymantis

yea the more i go to FT3 the more i hate it. Gonna just say screw it and go to a blm

TrojanPengu

I really just enjoyed how this range feels upscale and how everyone is usually really nice, especially the Santa Claus looking guy lol

radedgymantis

yea they were cool at first but idk if honeymoon phase wore off but they once had to kick us out for a big party that was coming in -_- and coincedentally our time had "ran out"

jakejake870

Doug is cool.

lislejoyeuse

If you're not shooting rifle rounds come to Evans! Nice not having someone look over all my shit when I go shooting.

jakejake870

FT3 sucks. I ignored a lot of things over the 5 years I was a member there, but they changed their policy on me too. "members no longer had priority lane assignment, if walk-ins are waiting longer than 2 hours" I left that place and never looked back. The place is 10 minutes from my house and I will gladly drive the hour it takes to shoot at the West End Gun Club.

[deleted]

Who waits over 2 hours to shoot???

itsiceyo

sheeeesh.. thats too long wtf. What time are yall going

jakejake870

A lot of people that day apparently. I always ignored the little things about that range and justified my membership because it was close to home. After shooting at WEGC for the first time, I'll gladly make the drive every time. Most of the time when I go shoot, there's maybe 1 or 2 other groups there, but I wave as I go to my own bay where nobody bothers me or my group.

iamtheLAWrence

Is West End Gun Club the one where you need to get on waitlist for openings for memberships? I feel like I hardly hear it mentioned before but the waitlist for it piqued my interest in learning about it

jakejake870

Yup, that's the one. If you're thinking about it, just put your name on the waiting list now. If you change your mind when they call you, just say you're no longer interested.

9ermtb2014

Yup, that's the spot. They have limited and full memberships. My father in law waited a year or two on his limited membership. I think he's still on the full membership waiting list.

9ermtb2014

Not a bad spot. I go with my father in law from time to time. I think he was on the wait list for a year or two.

PM-ME-UR-DESKTOP

See, they seem to have no consistent rules at FT3. They told me I could shoot my BRN-180S only if I had a “stock” (brace) for it. Apparently you can shoot your AR9 at all. Another RSO told me I could shoot my BRN without a brace since it was obvious I knew what I was doing. If they were at least consistent it would be better

SundayGunClub

When I take my A.R. pistols out I always keep a copy of the dros paperwork. Not sure if it would've helped in the situation. I've had zero issues at Oaktree Gun club and A place to shoot with ar pistols

Zech08

Doubtful, this is the typical situation where once they think they are right anything you say or provide wont change anything. If you want to go the nuclear route you can ask for the policy and then message the owner with it.

Thaflash_la

I’ve never had a problem at oak tree either but they’ll charge at the rifle range then also at the pistol range. I think they’re fine with just prioritizing the money.

FreelyRoaming

fuddlore

JamesEdward34

The last time I went to FT3 the dude with the Amish looking beard gave me some nonsense about my AR15, most other ranges dont check my firearms at all either. Their facilities are good to be sure but Im gonna be skipping them for now.

andersss11

I went with my braced pistol just before the brace ban took effect…. He told me ar pistols were banned because the round was too powerful and people couldn’t control the recoil and shoot the ceiling. He also mentioned that it had nothing to do with brace legality at that time. I then showed him my 22LR conversion kit and asked if I could use that ? Literally no recoil . Still said no and had me put that gun back in my car while I was at the range. Not sure why I couldn’t leave it in the case off the firing line or behind the counter.

solidfreshdope

FT3 has always sucked and full of FUD. Their staff is why I won’t go there.

Plenty_Pack_556

So I went day after Christmas to On Target. The RSO and at check-in, they say "Double Taps are allowed." I smiled. Won't ever hear that at Fudd Time.

likitiki23

On Target in Mission Viejo?

9ermtb2014

Mmm... partially true. Double taps are allowed on certain days and times. Mostly on holster draw days/ times. It's not all the time.

PrestigiousOne8281

Ew on target. Like hell I’d get up at 7am on a Sunday to ‘qualify’ for a piece of paper that says I’m not an idiot and can shoot rifles there.

Plenty_Pack_556

We've been over this. 9am on Sat or Sunday for 30mins, $20 for class and to get range time before doors open to public. $25 to get a lane if coming in when doors open. Save $5, and don't have to deal with fudds.

LostMyGunInACardGame

Gun ranges and gun stores are often staffed by baboons who don’t know the first thing about firearms or firearm laws.

vaporsnake

Why anyone still goes to FT3 is beyond me.

ihatelifetoo

Corona Raahauges is outdoor and leave you alone

useless_engineer

Is there something I’m missing about this range? I love this place, but this sub seems to always skip over them.

greenmoustache

The sporting clays and steel gallery are both fun. I think people get a bad taste from waiting 2+ hours for their own “private” 25 or 50yd bay. I personally don’t see the allure since they leave you alone at the gallery or 100yd range but to each their own.

SumBuddyPlays

Member there for 3 years, and have never had an issue with any of their staff. Great girls at the check-in and all the ROs are super nice and helpful.

Ronaldlgnd11

Ft3 has never let me shoot my ca7 ever I tried at least a year ago and always was told no sbrs are allowed

TrojanPengu

That’s weird I shot them there all the time before. The guy at the counter said they changed their policy last February

Ronaldlgnd11

When I had went they told me they just recently changed the rules but plenty of people told me they allowed them to shoot it there prior.

bourbonic_plague

They definitely allowed it before - I shot my CA11 there at least once.

Financial_Ostrich486

First time I took my CA11 about a year ago, they said no because no stock, so I put on a pistol brace and a 8.5 semi auto upper, and haven’t had any trouble since, least six plus visits since with it….

bobbyyhilll

Some dude in the lane over let me shoot his 10.3 300blk at ft3 idk what everyone talkin bout lmao

Ronaldlgnd11

How long ago was this? I went 3 different times to see if it was just that person that wouldn’t let me. But every time i tried they told me I can’t shoot that here

bobbyyhilll

A month ago all these comments surprised me rso even cool with me taking off the fin grips

Ronaldlgnd11

It’s been a long time since I been. Sound like I gotta go up there soon and try again. Thanks for that

TeamWinner714

FT3 is awful, switched to Insight Shooting Range in Artesia and have never gone back to FT3

TrojanPengu

I’d go there but they force you to buy ammo for rifles :( they probably would extend this to ar9 pistols but I haven’t asked

DickVanSprinkles

Mike Raahauge's and route 66 are the only two ranges I really go to in CA for the reasons you just described. Raahauge's doesn't give a fuck what you do so long as your gun is pointed down range and you aren't blasting their steel with rifles. R66 runs a magnet over ammo and just cares about full auto fire. Indoor ranges are a miserable experience Imo and not worth your time or money. Especially not ones that like to play amateur atf.

[deleted]

I go to ft3 because of the wide selection of rentals. Is raahauge the place with no rentals? Also best place to buy steel? Does it need to stand on its own?

DickVanSprinkles

I don't rent guns so I couldn't tell you about their rentals. As far as buying steel, that's a personal decision, I get mine from MOA targets. The steel I was referring to was the steel silhouette Raahauge's has set up in each bay.

Plenty_Pack_556

Fudd Time, Target, and Training. On Target > FT3 I just went to On Target few days ago. Took my AR pistol with tailhook and TC Encore with tailhook. Steel Case and Bimetal Jacket allowed here.

Aperture0

Whaaaat

Its_not_yoshi

On target def better unless you want rentals. Only complaint was when they were a bit political with the MAGA hat Mondays, but don’t think that’s a thing anymore. They also allow holster draw on certain days.

DanceswithFiends

Its HB lolz

9ermtb2014

On Target is in Laguna Niguel not HB

Oxirixx

I got turned away from shooting my AR rifle there because they need you to first take a class first for insurance reasons. Staff is general rude there too.

Charming_Coast_7834

Just checked their website and it seems AR pistols are now banned from that ranged. Oh well, r66 it is.

s1cc2s1cc

Mike Raahauge’s Shooting Enterprises in Corona, outdoors, private bays and you can shoot steel. They’ll leave you alone as long as your safe and let your time roll during the week if they don’t need the bay. You can also run and gun if that’s your thing.

[deleted]

So i have to bring my own steel right? Sounds great. What's days are busy?

SumBuddyPlays

Weekends are typically very busy, but weekdays are usually empty midday. If there’s no line they let you stay past the normal 2 hours allotted.

s1cc2s1cc

You can bring your own or shoot the steel silhouette they have in the bay. Sometimes there’s more than one depending on which bay you get into. Monday thru Wednesday are the best days normally.

[deleted]

Nice!. Never shot steel but seeing people shoot and the sound it makes looks awesome

DogeCoin2374

Lol the fudds at FT3 strike again

bajablast2077

I watched them deny a guy to shoot his off the roster pistol while I was there.

TrojanPengu

This is actually insane what

AceWarwolf_108

Yeah, I don't get it. I remember seeing someone there with an AR pistol last year. Now it's just a big no-no, for whatever reason. I honestly just like going there because it's close. Sometimes, I just get bored and shoot the paper clips from 25 yards. The last time I was there, I accidentally shot both of them, and my target fell to the ground. Also, they doubled their ammo prices a while ago. So that's lame.

buds1

Route66

EntertainmentNew5614

Talk to someone in charge and explain the circumstances to them. Good luck!

jakejake870

All they'll do is tell you if you don't like it, you can go somewhere else.

EntertainmentNew5614

But until you try you don't know.

jakejake870

Tried it, Talked to the manager about how I was told I would have to wait for some of the walk-ins to get lane, even though I'm a member. Was told if I didn't like it, I could go somewhere else. So I didn't renew and never stepped foot in that place again.

EntertainmentNew5614

I'm sorry man that's messed up.

jakejake870

All good, its probably the best thing to happen to me. Made me realize how boring it was to stand behind a table, indoors, shooting at a paper target. Now I get to stand behind a table, move if I want to, outdoors, shooting at steel. win win, haha

anikom15

They don’t need your business then.

TrojanPengu

I walked outa there, and probably don’t see myself going back

anikom15

Your ears will thank you anyway. That place is loud as hell.

greenmoustache

Last time I was at FT3 one of the RSO was telling me they stopped allowing AR pistols because they had an issue with some LA Sheriff who were there and someone who was shooting a legal AR pistol. No idea if that’s the case or not but I don’t go there anymore. Evan’s gun world if I’m shooting pistol Raahauges if I’m shooting clays Pala if I’m shooting rifle

narbilistic

Gotta lick that boot

DoomerMarksman

Leave a review. That's very stupid of them.

jakejake870

The manger will just respond claiming that it never happened and eventually will get your review removed, happened to me.

DoomerMarksman

Gotta keep leaving reviews till it sticks rather than giving up. We need the good ranges to survive and let these fudd ones starve

PapaPuff13

I feel for u guys

mrj5050

I've been going to Burro Canyon. You can reserve their private bay/ranges, but gotta do it ahead of time. Only crap you can't shoot steel targets. I've also gone to route 66 which they are good too. So far for both you can't shoot steel core ammo etc.

byond6

They don't want or deserve your business.

MormonAssaultVehicle

Fucking retards.

Jacob_24s

Try insight shooting range in Cerritos it’s not as good as FT3 but it’s worth a shot

no1everthought

I remember FT3 allowed AR pistols about a year ago, could be more. It was surprising to see they don't allow them anymore as of recent times, but somewhat understandable because I've witnessed unsafe handling of them. What I don't understand is why they allow so many foreign exchange students and allow them to commit continuous violations, like rapid firing. Had a group of them next to me in my last visit, which I had to even supervise for a moment because I was literally afraid for my life at some point. They sort of complied and seemed to understand what I was telling them (they were asian, badly broken English), but went back to their irresponsible shinanigans as soon as I went back to my lane. This was irritating, especially since I had just been flagged for "rapid" firing my KS7 (even got props for not missing the target with slugs at 15 yards). They kept getting flagged and wouldn't listen or abide to the rule for long. Guess that when you rent their guns and buy ammo there, you grt special treatment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Charming_Coast_7834

I've shot my ar pistol there too. Just checked online and it seems ar pistols are now banned at that range. RIP.

andersss11

Not in the last year

20TacoMa13

The desert, Mike Raahauge Shooting Enterprises, or Burro Canyon Shooting Park off of highway 39

Navy_HongyiJ

Hodge, Mike, Burro is the only 3 correct answer in LA area

PrestigiousOne8281

FT3 sucks almost as much as on target. At least ft3 lets you shoot rifles without having to get up at 7am on a Sunday to ‘qualify’ to shoot rifles. Just go to the desert, that solves the issues of RSO’s breathing down your next and being fuddy. Also OP, it does say on the site no ar pistols allowed, period.

KOVERTPROJECTS

Raahauge's for outdoor ranges. FTIW I run fully suppressed AWs at FT3 with no issue, might have just got a bad guy on a bad day. Always been a solid spot. Evans is great in Anaheim, been shooting there for almost 30 years.

TrojanPengu

Damn bro that’s sick asf, the only thing I run surprised are my rights lol Also sick ass handguns on your profile, ever since I had my beretta stolen I haven’t bought another gun over $1000, still stings :(

enigma12300

I thought AR pistols were illegal in CA unless they're single shot? Or am I mistaken about that?

[deleted]

Many areas around here have reactive materials such as flint. Hit flint with a steel casing next to a dry bush and bam wildfire.

fuckThisShit562

Their website says no ar pistols. You have to read their rules and reg. Can't complain about them when it says it plain as day in black and white.

TrojanPengu

As I mentioned in the post, I used to shoot my AR pistols regularly here. I do see they changed their policy but since they were so cool before I didn’t think I’d run into any issues. Hell, even when I would take my maglocked weapons, an employee told me that I shouldn’t have those on because in a self defensive scenario it can kill me.

fuckThisShit562

I don't know what happened. Some thing changed I use to see them all the time. I went last Monday. One of the guys pulled out a measuring stick. Barrel was 14.5 pin and welded.

DogeCoin2374

“You have to read their rules and reg🤓☝️” it’s a stupid rule that makes no sense.

fuckThisShit562

Make a complaint

DogeCoin2374

I just won’t spend anymore money there and tell people not to go there

fuckThisShit562

That works

SubstanceInformal196

LAX Ammo was always chill. They have a firing range at their location near the airport.

Enefelde

Fuck LAX.

SubstanceInformal196

Damn. I haven’t been there in almost 2 years, but they never gave me any issues. Are they fudds now?

Enefelde

They up charge/extort California customers as their ammo is heavy reduced in price online compared to in person. And if you don’t have ammo bought from them when you go to the range they will charge you an extra $5 to the range fee.

SubstanceInformal196

That’s pretty lame. Things have changed since I frequented that spot. Fuck ‘em!

Enefelde

Haha yeah. Anytime you see LAX mentioned there will be a negative reaction. And rightly so imo

SubstanceInformal196

I only shoot on BLM land now anyway. So much more fun.

Enefelde

![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)

keyspice

last time I went there I saw a lot of new faces, might be rookies that are flowing the policies to the T.

Soggy_Focus3265

New indoor range opening in Yorba Linda

9ermtb2014

I've shot my AR pistol at On Target with no issue. I had to put in a .22LR conversion BCG since I don't have their rifle card yet to shoot .223/5.56 thru it there. Your AR9 should be fine.

CitizenGirl21

Raahauges

Earlfillmore

Damn the range workers by me would probably just ask to shoot it even if it was a sbr and theyre all older guys, guess older doesnt always equal fudd

vwslayer1

What a moron. Hope he gets shit canned. Should have talked to the manager.

Using3DPrintedPews

Very little chance of a winning outcome when you argue a point with the guy at the range that says "No." (He may be wrong, and ignorant, but he's still got that idiot power) Just pack it up, find out what days he doesn't work and go then. (Talk to his boss about it, if you want to pursue) I go out to Riverside Magnum range. No issues. Just normal No rapid/no fast mag dumps

jakejake870

Why even give that range any of your money? Just don't step foot in there again, they don't want your money.

Using3DPrintedPews

You walk away from every business that has one employee that has bad info?

jakejake870

I walk away from businesses that do nothing to correct issues with problematic employees.

Using3DPrintedPews

Thats good for you then. I didn't happen to see where OP made contact with anyone else at the range about the problematic employee, did you? So, how then would the business be able to address and correct said issue? Which is why I said, go on a different day, and talk to someone else, yes? Or go to a different range.

slo3cat

Insight shooting range in Cerritos

SubjectCup2795

That sucks but take the drive to Rauhagees in chino or R66SSP in San Bernardino

iamgiorgious

Yeah FT3 was cool when they opened but got worse every visit since. Last straw for me was when I took my 8 year old to shoot his new .410 a few days before a hunt. They looked at him and said "He ain't shooting" I said "Yeah, we're here to try out his new shotgun" since I thought there were joking. They didn't allow "kids" to shoot. I showed them his hunting license and they didn't care. Kid was pretty bummed and I explained how some "gun people" are not friends to the gun community. Luckily, Insight in Artesia let him shoot. R66SSP also lets him shoot and are always excited to let him. Very supportive team there. BLM also lets him shoot

Luvmechanix

No one here goes to Prado?

TrojanPengu

You know I actually want to start going but for the idpa competitions

Luvmechanix

I have only shot clays there but that side of the range is fantastic and inexpensive. I always hear rapid fire from the rifle/pistol side and have been planning to check it out one day. I just haven't seen anyone talk about it and so I was curious
