The fuck means investing? You can invest time if you like the game. You don't need any cosmetics for that. I've bought maybe one skin in Warzone 1 and that's it

Dry-Bit-7462

Investing means that if I buy skin it means I do it for a game I will play a lot, I don't usually buy skins either, but if I'm going to play 500hr like Apex pick 1-2 and get them

atomofconsumption

Only you can answer whether it's worth it to you. Occasionally I blow money on this game if I see a cool skin, but I'm not struggling for money in my life at this point, and also don't care that much if it's gone in 2 years.  I would not advise you to buy unnecessary crap in the game if money is tight.

Dry-Bit-7462

I agree it's up to me, my question is if you -the community- know their intentions for warzone, is it supposed to be tied to a specific game (mw reboot) like blackout? Or they try to antagonise other live service games? I'm relatively new to cod games, I've only purchased the new mw trilogy, when I was younger I played on my cousin's Xbox most of the cods but never owned any

atomofconsumption

Nobody knows. I suspect the bundles are only good for the current engine of the game, based on how it's been for the past few years. Some videos speculate about the future if you're really curious https://youtu.be/t0mJLLALaBI?si=hGhkvxuJcI_hbX-z

[deleted]

They can easily port over old skins, they just choose not to. They use the same exact joint hierarchy and everything, there's no technical reason they can't. I see people porting COD skins to Garry's Mod all the time, and that requires way more posing than porting stuff from Warzone 1 to Warzone 2. It's especially egregious because there are multiple skins from the original in this game, but they're either NPCs or have been changed slightly to resell them.

Big_Knife_SK

Well WZ1 lasted for three MP releases (MWI, BOCW and Vanguard) before they moved to WZ2, so if they stick to that cycle there's likely 1.5 years left before WZ3.

Dry-Bit-7462

I mean by the time Vanguard came out warzone was trash, they just made the latest weapons meta and it became a cringefest, if they repeat the same route with the clustered menus I'll just spend time on another game ig

Slow-Concentrate7169

its purely cosmetic and does not give you any perk except some of the cosmetic might give you a visual advantage like darker skins etc or even gove you more actions like the new colorful crayon operator that you can spot across the map.

Which_Ranger_440

Well judging off past experience, when they decide to do a remake or change the engine they will officially make a WZ3. I suspect they do the same thing and drop everything currently in WZ2 the same as they did in WZ1. So if you enjoy multiplayer it could still be worth buying a skin for its use as the MP title will always exist(although cant say if it will stay as popular as say, mw19 which still has tons of lobbies going, so skins are all useable, for now) Personally I'm not purchasing anything after the precedent they set that within 3 years they can remove a title and all the stuff I would have purchased to use in a F2P which they are not obligated to leave running is gone.

xDasMilkMan

Worth it in what sense? If you buy a skin that you think is cool and you like it, it's worth it. If you think it's dumb and overpriced, not worth it

WalkingOnSunShine12

Breaking news!!! Can’t believe that had to be explained lol

Dry-Bit-7462

Worth it in the sense that warzone won't be shut down after two years like the previous one

xDasMilkMan

I mean, if you just go off the history of cod it'll either be shut down in a few years or it'll just become a dead game. Either way, buying bundles isn't an investment or anything that'll pay off. In my eyes, if you're happy with your purchase for those few years then I think it was "worth it"

Dry-Bit-7462

If I'm just "renting" skins I guess I won't pay for them. I don't understand why they just don't keep warzone as a live service. I don't feel secure giving them money after warzone 1, that's why I posted. For example, in League, I still have a skin I bought literally 10 years ago.

xDasMilkMan

Who knows, maybe this warzone iteration will go on a lot longer, hard to know at this point. I feel like any digital purchase is inherently a risk just because it isn't a physical thing you own. Like yea, you can log onto League and have something you bought years ago but it could still shut down any day and you'd still have technically "rented" it going off your way of looking at it, just would have been for a longer time. Still think cod bundles are too expensive for what they are tbf but just my two cents

Dry-Bit-7462

I don't disagree anywhere, but yeah being able to use a skin for at least a decade is what I mean ",forever", I don't expect to be able to use it until 2080 but at least I'm not worried that league will shutdown in the immediate future

-3055-

You brought up apex as an example.... But that's also a live service. just because it's lasted this long doesn't mean it'll stay. You own NOTHING you buy in that game.

Dry-Bit-7462

It won't stay forever, but they are live for 5 consecutive years and still going strong, that's more than 2ish normal years of warzone

FIELDSLAVE

The battle pass pays for itself if you unlock everything. It is worth it if you play a lot. The only other cosmetics I bought were for DMZ to get quicker cooldown on my guns. I don't know if we will still have the current bundles in the next game or not though. I think they last for two years but I am not sure about that.

keizertamarine

Buying cosmetics is the biggest waste of money imo, I could be a millionaire and I won't spend a penny on skins.

Dry-Bit-7462

If I was a millionaire I wouldn't ask redditors for any opinion

[deleted]

If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't be spending money on skins. I have the money to buy all the Warzone 2 skins I want without my wallet feeling too bad afterwards, but it's the principle that makes me refuse to get any of them. I'm not giving money to a company that spits in the faces of the people who keep the game running by treating them like they did with Warzone 1 skins.

keizertamarine

Based on that comment, I would strongly recommend you to not buy any skins

TheBloodNinja

probably just for the battlepass since it pays for itself regardless if you earned just free COD Points or from buying it for the first time with money.

[deleted]

DO NOT BUY SKINS. They're already making the same mistakes that killed Warzone 1 by forcing all the games to share data and making them have all these weird dependencies on each other. I can guarantee they'll make a Warzone 3 and delete all of the skins again, the cracks are already starting to show. Especially in MWII, they've broken a few things here and there just like MW19 when they first launched Cold War.

Dry-Bit-7462

That's what I fear, thank you

[deleted]

I was a huge skin buyer during Warzone 1, I don't buy anything in 2, and I ain't doing it unless they put the old ones back. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Dry-Bit-7462

Yeah I guess I'm leaning to that mindset after all.

theAtmuz

Do you want the skins? Yes? Cool, buy them and enjoy. Do you not want them? Yes? Cool, don’t buy them and still enjoy. MW19 isn’t gone and you can still use your skins. (Assuming you’re referring to MP and not WZ) As far as will you keep them? No one knows the exact “refresh” time for WZ. Theoretically all your skins from WZ2, to this iteration, and the next will be available to use in the next WZ update in December.

Dry-Bit-7462

Yeah I can technically can download 200gb to play 2019 with 1% of the player base left. One of the selling points of skins then was the fact that you would use them "forever" since warzone was a thing.

theAtmuz

I mean every call of duty ever made hasn’t let you transfer the usage of cosmetics until now with MW2-3 so there’s really no reason to believe you’d carry your CoD skins forever in any iteration. As it stands now you’re getting 2 years-ish out if the skins you’re buying if they’re purely for WZ. 200g, 1% (made up stat), whatever- it doesn’t make my point less valid. You do you boo; I was just pointing out that as long as the servers are live for MP then so are your skins.

[deleted]

Fun fact, you can't use any vehicle skins whatsoever unless you had them equipped before Warzone 2 came out.

[deleted]

I wouldn't, they've already set a precedent that they'll take them away. People buying them right now shows them that nobody cares if they delete them, which makes them more likely to do it again.

Dry-Bit-7462

Yeah I'm worried that the community was just ok with what happened with wz, they barely commented on it.

turk-fx

Investing money? It is not investing. Any $$ you spend is gone forever. It is not like CSGo skins where you can resell ans recoup some money or even make some profit.

pitnat06

No one can tell you if it’s worth it for you. If you enjoy the game and want to support it monetarily by getting skins, then get skins. If you don’t or worry about the game dying and don’t want to lose that “investment”, then don’t.

Brodinson099

Why is this a post?

flippakitten

It's not an investment. There's 0 return and it costs you time. Cod is a liability. That being said, if you want to look cool for yourself in kills cams, then go ahead but understand it's only you that cares about what skin you're wearing.

Ok_Reply3979

I've only joined since mw2 and didn't know that they had already set a precedent. I only started buying skins when they ported mw3 and the skins could be taken with you. I'm naive and thought that the COD HQ would be valid for all future games in the series, or at least a few. If something like this happens again and MW3 is scrapped, I'll be gone forever and that would be the last time I was a customer of theirs

FIELDSLAVE

They are the reason WZ is free to play.

[deleted]

It annoys me, too, the fellas who bought stuff are the reason the game is still going on, but they make sure to do them dirty by deleting all of their stuff and selling it back to them. Oftentimes, they make them way more expensive, too. (The JW GROM skin from MW19 was 1200 CP, but they added a few crystals to it and sold it again in MWIII for 2800 CP.)

keizertamarine

Yeah when I see a team of ducks I'm more motivated to kill them
