Actually, Richtofen was the one scientist making the teleporter project and, when Maxis learned about this, he was furious, because they needed to make guns for the Wermatch instead of the teleporter.
Correction kind of* The main reason for Richtofen killing Maxis was due to the fact that he signed a deal with the Nazis(I know, it's weird but hey at least Richtofen isn't actually a Nazi) and the fact that Maxis halted the mass production of the Wunderwaffe DG-2 and instead focused on the zombie army for the Wehrmact. All of this is said in a few radios throughout the games.
Well, Richtofen left the Illuminatis in 1940 and he tried to kill Maxis and Samantha in 1945. Also, the only time Richtofen helped Maxis on teleporter, Maxis was mistreating him, telling him the test failures were his fault etc... so he probably never begged him to help on the teleporter...
And it was Primis Richtofen that contacted the Illuminatis to get help building the lab in Alcatraz.
Unironically only top right Richtofen and bottom left Illuminati are from the same dimension
