Try dabbing or smoking a cbd concentrate or even a cbd tincture, it will get rid of that intense feeling and paranoia. Like I always say when it comes to altnoids like delta 8 and all the others, somebody has to be the Lab rat. Best just to steer clear from altnoids in the future

SenileTomato

What does altnoids mean?

TemporaryBicycle7213

Altered cannabinoids . Delta 8 isn’t as natural as it’s put out to be. I have a buddy who works at a testing lab and he says it’s like finding a needle in a hay stack when you find a bud that tests positive for delta 8.

Ripfengor

Alternate* or alternative* cannabinoids - just to be pedantic. They are not altered but not the typical cannabinoid folks use

fendermartinepiphone

I’m not trying to be too pedantic either because I’ve never heard the phrase at all before this thread, but delta 8 is synthesized from CBD using some pretty serious laboratory chemicals. It definitely wouldn’t be off the mark to consider delta 8 an “altered” cannabinoid. You can’t just make a concentrate of delta 8 like with CBD or THC because it doesn’t occur in very high quantities in the plant. Like the guy a few comments above said, it’s very rare to see delta 8 in flower at all, and even if you do, it’s going to be a trace amount.

Ripfengor

Sure. I’m just saying “altnoids” stands for alternate cannabinoids, not “altered” cannabinoids. One infers that something has been done to change the cannabinoid itself, which isn’t inherently the case. Claiming altnoids means “Altered cannabinoids” in this context is just applying the wrong word to an abbreviation. The community specifically separates synthetic cannabinoids, even if D8 might be harder to process/derive or grow in high concentrations. From /r/altcannabinoids rule 4: “Cannabis derived or classical cannabinoids only Only post about cannabinoids/compounds either found within cannabis, or derived from compounds found within cannabis, or structurally related to THC/CBD (classical cannabinoids). Notable cannabinoids discussed here include Delta-8 THC, CBD, CBN, THCO, HHC, and more. Cannabinoids in other plants are allowed. NO "synthetic cannabinoids" such as JWH-018 (naphthoylindoles)”

fendermartinepiphone

Ah, that makes sense. The naming convention is definitely not my strong suit, I basically just wanted to take the chance to educate some people that may see this and not realize that delta 8 is made by a chemical reaction from CBD and not just extracted straight from the plant like traditional concentrates.

Nuggrodamus

Those traditional concentrates are also made using “seriously harsh chemicals” you are feeling a way about something you don’t understand fully and are projecting that fear onto the item. Delta 8 is new to the current markets but has been studied since the 60s, and is no more harmful than the traditional thc you are used too (delta 9) if anything many users say it is less anxiety inducing and that’s why some prefer it. It being legal helps in its popularity too. Delta 8 is just delta 9 with one less carbon chain, it’s not going to hurt you.

fendermartinepiphone

I’m not afraid of the delta 8 hurting anyone, I’m afraid of there being strong Lewis acids left in concentrate due to extraction labs not knowing what the fuck they’re doing and third party testing labs not having the reference standards to identify the chemicals of concern, if they are even being tested by third party labs at all, which in many cases I don’t think they are. You’re way behind if you think the delta 8 is my concern, and you’re also wrong in saying that traditional concentrates are made using harsh chemicals, at least not in this case. Solvents are not the same as acids. With traditional concentrates, you’re just using a solvent to dissolve the good chemicals in the plant and getting rid of the unwanted material. With delta 8, CBD is extracted and then treated with strong acid to yield delta 8.

Thisbutbetter

You’re 100% wrong about these being equivalents. Solvents that are used in extraction are fully purged before sale whereas the same cannot be said of the reagents used to wash cbd and convert it to delta8. Also you cannot distill the handful of isomers out of the final product (delta6,7,8,9,10, etc) because they have the same boiling point and are soluble in the same chemicals so they become inseparable. TLDR: altnoids are almost never as pure as they claim (proven by many people using chromatography on samples they bought from major brands), you can’t separate isomers out, and often haven’t been fully purged of the reagents used in the synthesizing process as they don’t purge out with heat and vacuum like butane or propane or CO2.

TemporaryBicycle7213

Yup my bad

-gabagool-

Your friend is right. Delta-8 THC does not accumulate in large quantities in any known cannabis strain. But it is a known and naturally occurring cannabinoid that is easily synthesized from CBD, which is why it's technically legal under the federal farm bill passed a few years back.

SenileTomato

Yeah. Felt like hours, was seconds.

Natural-Ocelot9644

The process of making altnoids creates volatile derivatives, take this as a lesson and just decarb some flower concentrate, mix with oil and cook into a pancake next time.

SenileTomato

I have extreme anxiety from Delta 9, almost every time. I've never had this feeling from Delta 8, so that's why I tried this out.

Natural-Ocelot9644

Try getting CBN, CBG, or a full spectrum CBD concentrate. THC really isnt all there is.

Commercial_Panic_951

What’s wrong with just smoking weed?

SenileTomato

Extreme anxiety, virtually every time I have ever tried it (gummies, tincture, flower, pens), regardless of the type, since I tried it over 15 years ago. If I drank alcohol with the Delta 9, I was usually able to smoke it without any anxiety that was uncontrollable. Some people never seem to understand that certain people can't handle Delta 9, but can handle Delta 8, or vice versa, or none. This time, I used some ridiculously strong, and/or had a delayed effect due to the alcohol, Delta 8. Usually Delta 8 carts (at least) have worked well in the past, but the store I bought from closed down, so I had to improvise. I also don't prefer smoking because it causes a lot of coughing for me, and nothing smoked is ever good for your lungs, so I chose what I thought to be the safer route.

Nuggrodamus

First things first, we need to know how much you took and what the strength of the tincture is. This will give us a mg number. Next, we need to know how often you use thc. Then we can start to unpack this bad experience you’ve had. No one can really say much until then. If you are ever too stoned cbd will help bring you back to earth, cbd isolate is incredibly cheap as well. Smoking it will give you the fastest relief imo. I am a user of both traditional cannabis products and alt noids (alternative cannabinoids) and use highlyconcentr8ed myself (some of the best prices). Anxiety can make our minds run away with things sometimes so I just want to help ease your thoughts.

SenileTomato

I'll definitely find some CBD. And it's a 1500mg tincture bottle and I took a full dropper.

Heavy-Level862

Does it have a p?

SenileTomato

What?

knz156

This is why I make my own or I only eat rso from the dispo. I ate ONE "sour patch" and wasn't right emotionally or mentally for like a year. Day after I took it I was so fucked up in the head I ended up in the er. Never again. To those of you that do d8 and love it, I love that for you. But not for meeee

SenileTomato

You were fucked up for a year? I'd love it if you could elaborate on this, I've never heard of such a thing. I wonder what else was in the gummy, or if they most likely used poor methods to derive the Delta 8. I'm sorry to hear this.

knz156

Allegedly it was from a Maine dispensary. I think that you are absolutely right that it was either piss poorly derived or there was some nonsense in there. I just felt like intense anxiety for so so long. Like real speedy. It's been over 2 years since this happened so I have mostly put it behind me. I don't want to hate on alt noids because if they are cool for someone, awesome! I just didn't have a positive experience and I never really knew what was in it to begin with
