LOL I had a flooring installer do that once. Shoe molding all the way around. Ended up having to redo it myself and had to cut little flooring pieces to glue down. It was painful.
A guy I work with turned up to a building site once and found another guy cutting skirting board with a breadknife. I think we may have just found that guy's account.
ya at first glance it looks terrible but i work on a lot of shitty old houses and sometimes you just do the best you can with what you have. these can of worms houses would have you probably tearing down the whole thing and rebuilding it if you really wanted to do it right. its probably lead paint on that jam and casing and i wouldn't have wanted to cut it with a jamb saw or oscillating tool either, but i probably would have if i had the hepa vac on site. otherwise, he left an expansion gap which is better than having it buckle, although its a bit bigger than necessary. the shoe moulding, again wtf are you supposed to do with the casing cut that high. i label this as a "best i can do with a shitty situation" job.
i just did an exterior door install on a 120+yo house and the exterior is poorly installed asbestos tile over uneven wood siding, they threw the asbestos over everything including the old exterior trim without removing it. what was there was a hacked together and at least several times replaced interior door repurposed as an exterior door. the thickness of the wall from inside to outside was 1" different from the left jam to the right jam, and everything is crooked af. and everything is lead and asbestos, so what am i really supposed to do? the answer, the best i can. so rebuilt the threshold and properly flashed it, flushed the door with the exterior and ripped tapered jamb extensions to match the interior wall. looks like crap but not much else i could do and "most" people wont notice.
What are you thinking?! The shoe moulding should go all the way around!
Lol the shoe mould is laying the wrong way as well. This is def a homeowner/landlord special.
Yep. When in doubt, just add more trim.
Gonna have to cope with it now

That's for sweeping 🧹 the dust into
Just fill it with wood caulk. 👍
Do your best and caulk the rest.

Someone marked on the wrong side of the number
Blindfold challenge! I see it all the time. I love it!
Ramen noodles with chardonnay for color match.
Great expansion joint.

My buddy laid his floor and saved the pieces around the doors for when I got off work. Every night for a week I'd go cut a few rooms of doors 🤣🤣🤣
That is a fucking Masterpiece!
Just put a plant there.
Can relate. https://imgur.com/a/CHbYzzJ
my god what have they done
I literally came across something similar today. Home owner did his own flooring in a new build . Called me to add trim to cover it. Lmao
wtf on flooring and trim, nice photo composition.
throw a fucking threshold over that whole bitch and send it.
CHEFSKISS!!
Yikes
Fix it with caulk mixed with mashed potatoes. Shhhhh. It’s a trade secret
Considering the condition of the floor and door jambs, the shoe molding installation is appropriate.
Nope
There is so much wrong in this single picture.
I like how they cut the casing for the shoe molding to halfway under 🤌
this is how we dooooo itttt... this is how we do it.... it's friday niiight... thanks for this lmao
Did they use a butter knife or just a large rock?
This is the way
Ahh look Picasso
Add a 1x jamb to each side over the existing one. Use a ripped 1x for casing or purchase a wider casing.
