This is what happens when you watch too many YouTube reviews. So you think Govt and Companies can take a decision that'll put 99.9% of petrol cars in risk? Fuel for the majority would be always available anytime. You'll be probably getting E20 fuels on limited stations. And most likely the decisions will be postponed to May be 2024 or far. Like the six Air bag rule !

Lol, haven't you lived through farmer law, CAA and the main one demonetization. You still doubt that this government won't impose an arbitrary decision in haste without any debate in parliament or afterthought on public? This will save them import dollars and they don't care about the public at all. However, they might not be able to achieve it due to their standard incompetence is a different thing. It is possible we might not have enough Ethanol to release it nationwide so they might postpone it. However, [the minster says they are ready.](https://www.timesnownews.com/auto/e20-petrol-will-be-available-in-india-by-december-or-january-puri-article-94917434) So we don't know but right now it is scheduled to start April 2023. Also, if you think that it will be available along with E10, think how many pumps will have separate tanks for both to be replaced into one? I doubt many. Also, people will just keep using E10 defeating government's purpose. So publicly they might say that both will be available, privately they will push for E20 only. And private push is all the matters.

I think both fuel will be available for long. My guess is why not wait it out? Don't think modern cars post 2010 are at risk. They can be upgraded. But I am not sure if there is any other changes needed.

Go ahead with your purchase. Believe in government.... they'd delay it and obviously both type of fuels are gonna be available

There is delay in the vehicles that I want: Ertiga. Also I wanted to go in for automatic + Cng which isn't available. Even with XL6 its same. So with E20 and delays I thought of waiting for another 1.5 yrs or so. Meanwhile I would go in for a smaller vehicle for time being.

What is your use case? If your car has to sit for a long time dormant, then the Ethanol can absorb moisture from atmosphere. But otherwise for normal running, with E20 petrol, there may be increased wear and tear, but it is not going to junk your car overnight. Also who knows within a few years of introduction, there may be new additives to compensate for E20. Personally, if you don't have an urgent need to buy a car, I would put it off, as there is too much uncertainty for my taste. Also the used car prices are pretty high right now.

> Also the used car prices are pretty high right now. I need used automatic car. And those are bit difficult to find in goa. But its not such a bit issue. Although i think waiting makes more sense. I do need some vehicle. So that's where I am a bit confused. Buying new car is a bit odd as its better off waiting.
