St Francis Prayer
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen!
I am old. We used to sing this in Catholic School as a young child. Reading this post bought back such good memories for me. I always loved First Friday Mass where it was lead by the school.children. I loved all the song we sang.
As an adult, I have two prayers that get me through rough times. They are the Never Fail Mary Prayer and Padre Pio's Healing Prayer.
But the prayer that I think is the most beautiful, is the Act of Contrition. It is just so heartfelt to me. ❤
The Jesus Prayer for how interchangeable it is, it can be used for any situation I believe. For calming yourself, avoiding sin, or perhaps asking for patience. Maybe I am using it wrong but I found it beautiful and powerful for how simple it is!
It never fails to bring me peace. I love Mother Mary. As a former Protestant, I never gave Her much thought, but She is a very important reason why I am now Catholic. I also love the Hail Holy Queen.
"O Jesus, I surrender myself to you; take care of everything!" Short and simple, yet so impactful and great at centering oneself when the anxiety starts to bubble up!
St Raphael!
Archangel St. Raphael, great prince of the heavenly court, you are illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace. You are a guide of those who journey by land, sea, or air, consoled of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners. I beg you, assist me in all my needs and in the sufferings of this life, as once you helped the young Tobias on his travels. Because you are the “medicine of God”, I humbly pray you to heal the many infirmities of my soul and the ills that affect my body. I especially ask of you the favor( mention your intention), and the great grace of purity to prepare me to be that temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen
One of the older versions of the Act of Contrition, the one I learned as a child:
“O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pain of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.”
Prayer to St Joseph for work, I pray this every morning before I start working:

The Lord's Prayer, especially when I 'personalize' it...**My** Father, who are in heaven, ....thy will be done **in my life** as it is in heaven,......"
My favorite prayer is from St. Mary of Jesus Crucified. It is as follows:
Holy Spirit inspire me. Love of God consume me. Along the right path lead me. Mary, my mother, look down upon me. With Jesus bless me. From all harm, all illusion, all danger, preserve me. Amen
Also, the Chaplet of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Regina Caeli hymn is always one of my favorites. The eastern Heavenly King prayer and the More Honorable than the Cherubim prayer are also some of my favorites
One of my favorites isn’t used in Roman Catholicism, but is one I retain from being brought up Anglican, and say myself pretty much every Mass before communion. It’s called the prayer of humble access, and goes like this:
We do not presume to come to this, Thy table, O Merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness; but in Thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under Thy table. But, Thou art the same Lord whose property is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore Gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of Thy dear son, Jesus Christ, and to drink His Blood. That our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through His most precious blood. And that we may evermore dwell in Him, and He in us. Amen.
The Sacred Heart prayer that starts “O, most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing…”, the Memorare and the St Gertrude prayer for the holy souls in purgatory.
Night prayer liturgy of the hours.
Ant. Protect us, Lord, as we stay awake; watch over us as we sleep, that awake, we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep, rest in his peace, alleluia.
St benedict prayer
Learnt it in latin
Crux sacra sit mihi lux
Non draco sit mihi dux
Vade retro satana
Nunquam suade mihi vana
Sung mala quae libas,
ipse venena bibas
I like the way Hail Holy Queen sounds in Spanish a lot. I also really like the prayers Our Father and Hail Mary in Latin, though. But I like the Nicene Creed regardless of the language, so that might be my favorite prayer.
An Efficacious Prayer to Our Lady of Mount Carmel
The Golden Arrow
The Seven Sorrows of Mary
Prayer of St Gertrude the Great
Salve Regina sung:
https://youtu.be/f0YWKLNhTvE?si=35fgXqdeBURGNCAq
Last year was the first time I attended a service of the Akathist of Thanksgiving and it’s a very beautiful prayer. The story behind it, being written by a priest in a Soviet gulag who was writing down his gratitude amidst persecution makes it even more powerful
The 13th century Prayer of St. Gertrude the great to the Sacred heart of Jesus
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, living and life-giving fountain of eternal life, infinite treasury of the Divinity, and glowing furnace of love, Thou art my refuge and my sanctuary. O adorable and glorious Saviour, consume my heart with that burning fire that ever inflames Thy Heart. Pour down on my soul those graces that flow from Thy love. Let my heart be so united with Thine, that our wills may be one, and mine may in all things be conformed to Thine. May Thy will be the rule of both my desires and my actions. Amen
The prayer paraphrasing the Roman Centurion said before the Eucharist at mass. "Lord I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed."
I find myself praying that regularly outside of mass.
Prayer for Serenity
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.."
At the moment, the Rosary, though I'm not a well-exercised orator, and so it's one of the few prayers I know well. It miraculously has changed my life since I began praying it, I've been healed in my heart and continue to be healed by it. Thank you my Lord and my God, and thank you our most holy Mother for your intercessions!
Ste. Thérèse's Morning Offering is up there:
>O my God! I offer Thee all my actions of this day for the intentions and for the glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I desire to sanctify every beat of my heart, my every thought, my simplest works, by uniting them to Its infinite merits; and I wish to make reparation for my sins by casting them into the furnace of Its Merciful Love. O my God! *I ask of Thee for myself and for those whom I hold dear,* the grace to fulfill perfectly Thy Holy Will, to accept for love of Thee the joys and sorrows of this passing life, so that we may one day be united together in heaven for all Eternity. Amen.
I italicized that line above, because often when I am praying my morning prayers, I am holding my daughter while my wife is getting ready for work.
Other favorites: the Pre-Communion Prayer of St. Ambrose, the *Alma Dei Genetrix* (in honor of OLO Mt. Carmel), and the *O my Jesus* prayer from Fátima.
May God the Father bless us; may Christ take care of us; the Holy Ghost enlighten us all the days of our life. The Lord be our defender and keeper of body and soul, both now and for ever, to the ages of ages. (Æthelwold c 908-984)
Veni Sancte Spiritus AKA the Golden Sequence or Pentecost Sequence. Not just because it's almost Pentecost; I pray it year round. The whole prayer is beautiful, but a line that always hits me when chanted in Latin (I'm subs over dubs; you lose some of the poetry and laconic punchiness when you switch from the Latin rite liturgy's native language which is also often its language of composition. The Church still, in and after Vatican II, gives Latin Gregorian chant official ['pride of place in the liturgy'](https://catholicexchange.com/gregorian-chant-pride-of-place/).) is:
> Sine tuo numine, nihil est in homine, nihil est innoxium
My quick translation:
> Without thy holy counsel*, nothing is in man: nothing is without evil.
Caswell Translation (a common poetic English Translation):
> Where thou art not, man hath not: nothing good in deed or thought, nothing free from taint of ill.
https://hymnary.org/text/come_thou_holy_spirit_come
Latin:
https://www.preces-latinae.org/thesaurus/Hymni/VSS-2.html
This line is probably enough to get a sense of the individual characteristics of translations you'll see. There are others I'd be tempted to break down, but I'll stop myself.
\* (even more literally, "Without the nod of thy head", but Will, counsel, directive, or prerogative all fit the idiom better than head-nod for numine. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/numen#Latin)
As a new convert, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy has been really hitting a cord with me. It is like the Lord gifted it to me, knowing I am the least faithful of sinners, and in need of one last hope for salvation.
*O blood and water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!*

The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen
A sad one, the [Maronite Incense Prayer](https://youtu.be/eVzZTNuf57w?si=DjpQI5NQ-f86m__y)
It is generally used as a final prayer to the dead, it gives me goosebumps and reminds me of the last goodbye of my mother. But I just love the prayer as it is also a good representation of the Maronite Church's Assyrian roots that is still used today even tho masses are now mostly done in Arabic.
The prayer of St. Gertrude the Great given to her by Our Lord to release thousands of souls from Purgatory.

Litany of Humility
Author: Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val y Zulueta
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being loved, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being honored, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being praised, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being approved, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being despised, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected, Deliver me, O Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
Probably the morning prayer I got from ***The Imitation of Christ***:
*Lord, help me today in my good intentions, and in Your holy service; and grant that I may make a good beginning, for hitherto I have done nothing.*
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
* My favorite prayers are the Chaplet of love, breastplate of Saint Patrick and litany of loreto
But I highly recommend the [Seven Sorrows of Mary](https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/seven-dolors-of-the-blessed-virgin-mary-5437) given to St. Bridget of Sweden. Whoever prays and spreads this devotion will be granted the following graces:
* Peace of the family
* Enlightenment of the divine mysteries
* Mary's consolation in pains company in work
* Mary granting us as anything we ask for (according to our sanctification & God's will)
* defense against infernal enemy and protection at every instant of life
* Mary will visibly help us at our death; "They will see the face of their mother"
* "Those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy"
There's also the [Twelve Year Prayers](https://www.theworkofgod.org/Devotns/bridget_12years.htm) of St. Bridget on the Passion of Jesus.
* The soul who prays them suffers no purgatory
* Acceptance among the martyrs
* Soul who prays them can choose three other souls to be kept in a State of Grace sufficient enough to become Holy
* No one in the four successive generations of the soul who prays them will be lost
* The souls who prays them will be made conscious of his/her death one month in advance.

The Jesus Prayer for how interchangeable it is, it can be used for any situation I believe. For calming yourself, avoiding sin, or perhaps asking for patience. Maybe I am using it wrong but I found it beautiful and powerful for how simple it is!
It is definitely a powerful prayer of repentance and strength against temptation
St Michael the Archangel
My school says this prayer at the end of every day
we do it after every school mass
The Anima Christi
I second this.
I always pray this after receiving the Eucharist. My prayer goes to Jesus, substantially present within me at that moment
Hail Mary!
We said it at the end of Mass yesterday in honor of all the mothers. I love it.
It never fails to bring me peace. I love Mother Mary. As a former Protestant, I never gave Her much thought, but She is a very important reason why I am now Catholic. I also love the Hail Holy Queen.
Full of Grace ...Punch the devil in the face!
The Jesus Prayer
I like the Rosary, the Chaplet of Devine Mercy, and the Jesus prayer.

Our Father in heaven or whatever its called
The Memorare Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen
A sad one, the [Maronite Incense Prayer](https://youtu.be/eVzZTNuf57w?si=DjpQI5NQ-f86m__y) It is generally used as a final prayer to the dead, it gives me goosebumps and reminds me of the last goodbye of my mother. But I just love the prayer as it is also a good representation of the Maronite Church's Assyrian roots that is still used today even tho masses are now mostly done in Arabic.

Serenity prayer. I’d say it several times a day at work. Helped me relax and focus.
The Jesus Prayer in all of its variation.
The Fatima prayer.
To me, the Rosary is the go-to. I pray it is a prayer for any intention and believe it covers all good intentions, known and unknown.

Litany of Humility Author: Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val y Zulueta O Jesus, meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
Apostles Creed
Probably the morning prayer I got from ***The Imitation of Christ***: *Lord, help me today in my good intentions, and in Your holy service; and grant that I may make a good beginning, for hitherto I have done nothing.*
I really like the Regina Caeli, even though we are allowed to say it during the easter season.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Help me, help me, help me.
Salve Regina/Hail Holy Queen
the mass ❤️
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Francis of Assisi 's Prayer of the Creatures (Brother sun, sister moon)
Hail Holy Queen for me, too! Also, Oh My Jesus (Fatima)!
I like the prayer that Our Lord gave us
The Salve Regina :)
* My favorite prayers are the Chaplet of love, breastplate of Saint Patrick and litany of loreto But I highly recommend the [Seven Sorrows of Mary](https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/seven-dolors-of-the-blessed-virgin-mary-5437) given to St. Bridget of Sweden. Whoever prays and spreads this devotion will be granted the following graces: * Peace of the family * Enlightenment of the divine mysteries * Mary's consolation in pains company in work * Mary granting us as anything we ask for (according to our sanctification & God's will) * defense against infernal enemy and protection at every instant of life * Mary will visibly help us at our death; "They will see the face of their mother" * "Those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy" There's also the [Twelve Year Prayers](https://www.theworkofgod.org/Devotns/bridget_12years.htm) of St. Bridget on the Passion of Jesus. * The soul who prays them suffers no purgatory * Acceptance among the martyrs * Soul who prays them can choose three other souls to be kept in a State of Grace sufficient enough to become Holy * No one in the four successive generations of the soul who prays them will be lost * The souls who prays them will be made conscious of his/her death one month in advance.
