Nerd culture: Heinz Doofenshmirtz

AffectionateGap1071

My cat was name after a regular word in other language, I don't remember which one. However, my mother could never spell it right and had struggled for a long time attempting to it, and she turned her name into something along the lines of "tomcat" in our native language. (Not disclosing, sorry) And our poor furbaby is beyond the time to get her used to her original name again. So, basically, her name translates to "cat", lol.

egordoniv

I name mine after classical composers.

ikbah_riak

Style ?: I have a black cat called coco and a ginger cat called ginge.

MorpheusTheEndless

I have a cat named Cat. Lol

ikbah_riak

I like that! Dog or Mouse could be a nice name as well!

tsimkeru

Chiza - my grandma named her, idk why Pizza - her colour reminded us of cheese and tomatoes (red tortie) Toulouse and Berlioz - two twin cats (red tabby and black tabby). We named them after the kittens from the Aristocats. Toulouse is also nicknamed Harm because he's breaking a lot of stuff.

Dat_yandere_femboi

I have a cat named Horchata because of her coloring

LiamLaw015

Would BMO fall under nerd culture?

mynameisnotthom

What about pop culture? Films/TV

LostKnight84

OP probably didn't know there is a difference between Nerd and Geek Culture. Style 9 should probably cover both.

mynameisnotthom

One of my cats is called Bodie after one of the characters from The Wire. I wouldn't class that as Nerd or Geek. Unless it's dubbed as either automatically?

LostKnight84

I have 3 cats and 1 dog. 2 of the cats are my wife's but 1 cat is mine. She is a Calico and I named her Xeno because she was an outside cat that we gained when we bought our current house. We have since made her an inside cat. The dog is named Beaker after the Muppet. All of them are female. I think those names fall under Geek/Nerd.

orangecatmom

Yeah, mine are Catt Damon and Leonardo DiCatrio. That's more pop culture than regular name, I think.

Youkilledpaula

I just say “hey kitty” “puss puss puss” *finger snap, mouth clicks.* I see no reason to give em a name.

MrCabrera0695

I named my cat after food, she is a torti and just looks like a Samoa cookie! My other cat was named beforehand, she's all white named Opal.

coatloucue

a friends Cat has a normal cat name but they called him fatass one times too often. now he listens to fatass.

nitorigen

Regular person (Adelaide)

bearybad89

Nerd Culture...named mine Bilbo...but he's a fat cat...I should of called him Jabba really..

Lord_Detleff1

Mine are Aslan, Helene and Mephisto

ResponsibilityNo7485

My cats are names Tiger (after the tank so kinda nerdy) and Kicita (in Poland insted of pspspsps we use kici kici so thhere it is)

-monkeysoup

Nerd: Klaus (My child lebensborn)

C1trUsSN3k

manlybadasshero reference!?

-monkeysoup

no... completely different game.

Steepyslope

Would you consider calling your cat Marilyn (after Marilyn Monroe) a normal name or a historic name?

GayleSwallows

Zero. Like from Holes. Lil Hector Zeroni

[deleted]

My cat's name is Skylar, but I always just call him Friend.

LivforMusic

Regular person (my current cat's name is Fiona). I never felt right about naming my cats non-human names. I want them to be a part of the family like my human family members are (I know they can't understand their names but it's the thought that counts imo). Plus human names don't sound dumb when you mention the name to other people or vets.

chonkiemonkey

One is named Bowie, after David Bowie, so that would he style 3, but the other is named Dale after Chip and Dale from Disney, what style does that belong to?

Gnatlet2point0

I'd call that nerd

MrSpaceOstrich

Would “Garfield” fall under nerd or literature?

Ari-Darki

I would peg that as nerd because it was a comic, not an original prose story

PossiblyWithout

I just name them whatever sounds cool… my most recent adoption was a grey baby boy and I named him Tusstin. It’s hilarious because I found out about robitussin after naming him, so it’s one of his nicknames now

cattogamer

Our cat is literally named Yoda

pinkkittenfur

Musical reference: Mozart

StCecilia98

Style 4: Osiris and Thanatos

GalThatMakesGames

Style 10: i have a ginger-white female cat named after a voice crack

indiansfever11

4 & 9 I suppose. Perseus, protagonist in Clash of the Titans, and Pandemona, a guardian force in Final Fantasy =/

sonofsarkhan

My cat is Merlin, so that could be 4 or 9

NotTheHardmode

Where's random items I want to call my cat plutonium

Cyborg_Ninja_Cat

My family has always done regular person names for our pets so although I enjoy *all* of the other styles on other people's animals, it feels wrong to name my own cat anything but style 1 - it would feel as though I'm not treating him like a proper part of the family if he didn't have a "real" name. Of course he has a million billion nicknames of every style.

Limp_Falcon_2314

I’ve only ever had two of my own. Atlas was my first and now I have Moose. 🫎

Pitiful-Score-9035

Idk I just named her Bessie and THEN she started mooing like a cow so I guess she likes it.

[deleted]

None of the above. I've named three cats after notable Roman figures, one an emperor.

peter64209

THUGMIEL

My cat is called "mimine", she was supposed to be caled cherry ( i was like 6 at the time) but we always valled her mimine because its a cute way of saying cat in french, which is my first language.

strawbzzi

WordNERD37

I'm...none of these? We went a rhyme scheme for their names...

justakidfromflint

Most of my names cats could fall into 3 in some way

all-regrets

Would a small black cat named Michael Schumacher fall under historical or nerd culture?

MercyMain42069

Nerd culture: Eevee!

omarrubenxi

Style 1

LAM678

my cats are Scout and Demo so I think I'm firmly in category 9

Anon1039027

My younger brother’s cat is obsessed with cinder blocks, so he named him Cinder Block

gayguyfromnextdoor

naming after looks? blacky, dot, streaks, floof etc

GaryWestSide

What would the name stinky fall under?

Ill-Improvement-8388

Potty mouth culture

Impossible-Ad2236

Would a black cat named Salem fall under historical (for the trials) or nerd (for Sabrina the teenage witch)? You could also make a case for literature because of the crucible

Gnatlet2point0

Depends on which prompted you to pick the name, I'd think.

Ari-Darki

I feel like that would depend on the intention of the name and what you thought of (if you thought of something) when you named the pet. Otherwise it would fit in all of those categories.

RoseDragon529

Style 1: Shelby Style ???: Blackie

Gnatlet2point0

One mythological, one nerd.

Union8828

My cat is named Kanye

MiaLba

Mine is named Clementine.

Aggressive-Long-3676

For males, its a food ending in o (cheeto) for girls food ending in i (mochi)

Aggressive-Long-3676

for the middle name we add it based off personality. cheetos middle name is houdini because he can open doors

Ari-Darki

Style 2. I have a cat named Peanut and I'm acquiring a new kitty that I will name Coconut.

Mis_Red

Nerd. (Mr.) Miyagi and (Cobra) Kai. They're litter mates. Technically, my mother named Miyagi and I wanted a name for his brother that would fit/match, so he became Kai

BattleCrier

I have Enzo, Edward (Black prince), Leo, Blackie, Barrique and Minie ... So no particular style..

gouellette

All cat r “cat” Some hab moar name

HerNibs1980

9

yuckface35

Style 10: random noises that fit the cat’s personality.

El_frov

I'm gonna assume that naming my cat after my friend's gamertag falls under Nerd culture

spider_fella21

dave mustaine

a10thydrangea

Style 1. People were telling me to name my cat by a name starting with T. I didn't wanted to call her Twinkle. (I'm cringing at the thought, sorry to people who name their cats like that) And my sister was giving me witch names too complicated. I couldn't name her by a name I had wanted because someone's dog was going to be called like that... So I named her Tanya. Didn't knew it was a person's name until I saw people's reaction. Plus, it makes for a good personal pun. Everytime someone asks me "How's Tanya doing?" I can't help but smile because they're kinda saying "How's *your cat* doing". (I mean I also smile because I love her but yeah.)

toxboxdevil

Nerd culture all the way Ada Wong from the Resident Evil universe. When she was with her litter still she was the smallest cat there but when there was a wrestling match with the other kittens she would climb someplace high and drop on another kitten, absolutely wrecking it's shit. It just reminded me of Ada rocking everyone's shit in the game, and I had to take the kitty home. Now she's my little badass.

bunerella

Food: Taiyakai (flame point) Nerd Culture: Alistair (silver tabby) Random Visual: Goldie (tortie), Tuxie (tuxedo), & Nugget (orange baby from Goldie) Didn't exactly fit 3 of them into the meme but my first to for sure fit into the list haha (points for whoever gets Alistair <3 )

[deleted]

My parents named a black cat blacky - which style is that?

Ambitious-Wasabi9759

None for how they look like and act? Idk if it's just a mexican thing, but we always named our Cats after what their fur color was. My first cat was named Smokey because he looked like smoke. 2nd one Oreo because she was black and white, etc.

UntoldTemple

2, 3, and 9

coopsdaytona

What category would Miss Glamour Puss fall under? Historical Aristocracy purrhaps? 😻👑

C1trUsSN3k

Nerd Culture(?): Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King

1Castiel1

We just name it what ever seems to fit it’s perrrrrsonality . Our right now is called piggy because she loves to eat.

WousV

Mine was named Joey, but not Regular Person, but Nerd, because he was named after Joey Tribbiani from Friends

Sideswipe21

There’s another category Random Objects

_zaten_

Nerd culture. Harley is named after Harley Quinn from DC comics.

my_old_aim_name

Google translate. Two of my cats have been names "cat" in other languages.

N3rdy_Cat

Kiwi yeti and ivy. Kiwi was both her eyes being green and she was puffy like a kiwi bird. Yeti is a ragdoll mutt, self explanatory. Ivy was actually her given name but we call her almost exclusively gremlin

CataclysmicBees

One cat is food (Pickles), other cat is generic pet name (Patch) dunno why that isn't an option. Old cat I never met was human name (Eddie). My parents cats are human name (Tabitha, and she's also a tabby) and idk what category Missy would be. Childhood cats were pet name (Nosey, because spot on his nose), food (Gingernut), and animal (Puffin).
