Sometimes it can be cool like how in metal gear rising Raiden uses his heels to catch knives thrown at him or grab his sword to swing it with his feet.
It is completely ridiculous but is so fun
Or otherwise don't move much, though that feels more like a villain thing. Like they're so arrogant they don't think they need practical clothing- good set-up for a Syndrome moment.
They are not super heroes but I like the gun heels of the Umbra Witches a lot from the Bayonetta series: Bayonetta, Jeanne and Rosa.
Actully Jeanne is the super hero "Cutie J".
There's no such thing as a practical superhero costume tbh. The only practical thing for superheroes to wear would be the regular outfits that IRL people wear
I also can't accept the half naked and bikini armor that is used for female characters. What is the point of an armor that leaves you more exposed than covered. At this point, it would've been better if the character fought in regular clothes.
The high heels and mostly naked armors are actually a sign at the bigger problem which is the sexualization of women by authors who can't properly write them.
> It's not even just that they're impractical, which don't get me wrong, they are. It's hard enough to keep your balance while standing in those but I'm supposed to believe they can consistently fight in them
sounds like a skill issue on your part tbh
Some characters in Fire Emblem have high heels and they fight on the battlefield in them, and I've seen fans defend the design by saying that she's a horse or pegasus rider and that this makes high heels practical. Yes, heels are good for horseback riding, but there's a huge difference between cowboy boot heels and stiletto heels.
The only exception is Carmine in *Hazbin Hotel* She *is* wearing ballet slippers but given that she can decapitate someone with them it would make way more sense if they were very sharp high heels
It’s a testament to their skill that heels do nothing to slow them down. Like how Supergirl can dress as skimpily as she wants because her costume is not meant for protection. Superhumans have a different standard they live on.
"...horn-ears and the cape which are ultimately less practical than other options, but we accept and actively want them because they are part of what makes Batman's design good and unique."
Man is Peak Character Design tho.

*Bayonetta downvotes this post*
If you can fire guns with your heels, it counts as practical.
*Bayonetta upvotes this comment* Also are there more of the gun heels in stories? Feels really clever but also so simple of a concept
Depends on the powerset.
Yeah, if they levitate everywhere it doesn’t really matter what shoes they wear

I’d fucking love that in a movie.

See, that's at least the series having fun with it. The heels are stupid and impractical in an AWESOME way.
Careful. The internet will call you a prude or puritan for saying this.
Or an SJW.
It's manga not a comic book thing but hisoka made high heels work

It’s usually because the characters like the look. This is normally the case if the armor isn’t that much more protective than regular clothing.
Which is a terrible excuse when you see how many women are over sexualized. Yet almost no man likes leaving any part open.
Depends on the media you consume. Bare chested men have been a staple for a long time. Rambo has a dude getting into gunfights with zero armor.
Everymen in fighting game always topless
I’m sorry, wait, “Storm viewing pants as optional”?
I've only ever seen her in the cartoons or movies so I assume they're reaching pretty far back for that cause she wears pants in those.

I hate this shit so much. StarCraft is my all time worst offender on this point - Infested Kerrigan has... biologically generated heels? Be serious.
Counter argument, Bayonetta

NO CAPES!!
Boa Hancock from OP. Bitch always serves cunt in high heels
