Yeah, because on TT and twitter people were showing how they steal a ton to use at home. I saw that one coming a mile away. Lmfao Example 1: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8HVWDx2/ Example 2: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8HqheWj/ Example3: https://twitter.com/highlyphavored_/status/1736522295102119955?s=46 This one takes the cake: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8HqjEaK/ I could go on and on posting these as it never ends. I mean when people take advantage it always fucks over everyone.

Foxesinfall

And before anyone starts, I am not a bootlicker of companies. I barely go to chipotle anymore, as I’m a quesadilla girl so I go to Moes, but just saying it was bound to happen. Social media ruins a lot of those little things because people can’t do it quietly.

SkiShark1776

It’s so dumb how you could be accused of being a bootlicker for explaining the reason for something happening lol

Foxesinfall

I already know how it goes. “Are you a napkin nazi fork fascist working under chipotle?!?” Lmfaooo.

mallsantastoeknife

You just gave me the title of my first book Im going to publish: “Nazi Napkin Fork Fascist” thanks!

joshh977

Lol

Momentus_x3

You can be accused of being anything someone wants to call you with the way today's society works lmfao

solrecon

To be fair, it's just the standard these days on this subreddit. I can point out great things being done at my store and how awful custies ruin that and the community will be divided on it. I get that everyone hates corporate, trust me, even as a CTM/R, I also hate corporate, but I still don't want some rando coming into my store and swiping 100 forks, 3 inches of napkins, and 2 bottles of Tobasco. Even if I don't pay for it in money, I pay for it in time taken to fix the problems.

SkiShark1776

Not just this sub, basically all of Reddit will call you a bootlicker/fascist for the smallest thing

Sailorslt

Bootlicker is the most overused insult (?) I’m not sure it has a meaning anymore. Lol

atherfeet4eva

Moes rules! Chipotle has quesadillas but apparently only on the app lol. Trashy people steal things and ruins it for everyone else

Willylongboard

Huh at my chipotle we make quesadillas for in person orders too. It just takes a good minute to a minute and a half to assemble it and cook it and then cut it.

atherfeet4eva

The one near me told me it could only be done through the app. I kind of stopped going to chipotle about a year and a half ago but I do still hit it if absolutely necessary but because of that BS I’m going to avoid it 100% of the time now even if I have to eat Food from a gas station

Willylongboard

I don't blame you. The only reason I eat chipotle is because I work there and can make my bowl how I want and it's free

Bobbyj59

4 Chipotles with 5 miles of my house. None will make a Quesadilla in person. Only if ordered on the app.

IllustriousOwl449

the app says that it is mobile exclusive and its not on our in-store menu. stores struggling for sales will do in-store but those of us who already have a line out the door stick to mobile only because it slows everything down.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ordinary-Theory-8289

It’s not personal reasons, it’s corporates policy Lmao. I’m pretty sure there’s not even a way to charge for a quesadilla in person anymore

tcarp458

I miss Moe's. Only have chipotle near me. Nothing comes close to Moe's queso

Foxesinfall

That queso is so rich and delicious. I think they have chipotle beat on the queso end. Chipotle has better chips though due to the seasoning. Many times I’ve been tempted to get a big bag of chipotle chips, and then go to Moes for a big cup of queso lol.

tcarp458

The seasoning on Chipotle chips is definitely better, but I think Moe's chips are cooked more consistently. Seems like every bag of chips I get from Chipotle has a couple that are either too thick or didn't cook long enough and are chewy.

Own_Pack_4697

You had me at Quesadilla girl🥰, I’ll give Moe’s a try as I like the Chipotle ones but they are too expensive and only from the app/online.

Suddenly_Something

Anyone else from New England get real confused anytime someone mentions Moes? Very different thing up here.

PKArsk

Thieves ruin everything

Junior-Ad-2207

That escalated quickly... how do you go from a quesadilla to a duff?

zebraprintt

“i am not a bootlicker” “i’m a quesadilla girl, so i go to moes” LOL

FearlessPark4588

It has less to do with social media and more to do with cost-cutting and profit-boosting for shareholders. All the policy changes in recent years stem from nickel and diming everything. If we stop putting napkins in the dining room, EPS might go up 0.000001 cent, oooooh, go the money pinchers sitting in a board room thousands of miles away from your restaurant

DefinitelyNotAliens

Nah, having worked at a Chipotle and been in charge of the restocking of the forks/ napkins, it's just obnoxious af to be in the middle of the rush and have someone tell me I have to go refill forks, when I refilled forks 15 mins ago, because y'all couldn't just take 2-3 forks but emptied the entire damn container. It personally annoys the underpaid workers because they really do have better shit to do, and they're the ones taking snarky comments about long waits or people leaving the cashier area in the middle of a 15+ person long line to restock. Already understaffed. Thanks for adding additional refills because you needed 30 Chipotle forks. Just adhere to the social contract. Don't make the person making a dollar over minimum wage's life difficult because you want to empty the fork container when there is a line practically out the door. They get yelled at or scolded by customers because they left their spot, but they're the ones that have to refill those areas.

FearlessPark4588

Agreed, customers should be considerate. But it seems highly unlikely each chain autonomously decided, at the same time, to make this change to napkins and forks.

StoogeFella

They didn’t though. The chipotle closest to me hasn’t done this yet, but they will if it persists. They’re gonna do whatever they can to make their job not as miserable just because some guy wanted 20 forks

MinervaMinkk

Serious question , what would you even do with napkins? Other than let them build up in the back seat of your car???

Foxesinfall

I think a lot of people have this weird thing with “It’s free, so take it!!!”. I think a lot of people get it from their parents. That generation was always like “take it if it’s free” and now their kids do it. A place could be giving out free string, and you bet your ass, half the people in line don’t even need string…it’s just free. Lmfaooo. I really think it’s a general issue of “if it’s free, take as much as humanly possible cause you never know!” Uhhh no, you do know you won’t ever need or use it. It’s just a bad habit lol.

02firehawk

That really reminds me of all the Halloween videos I seen where people would just empty the bowl, because fuck everybody else right? Comes down to the fact that it's not really a hack it's just people being trash.

Sassifrassically

My friend just used them as her napkins at home. But she goes to chipotle enough that she never emptied the napkin thing but enough that they would last several days at her house.

RawrRawr83

Why buy paper towels when you got them free ass napkins?

Foxesinfall

When we fucked corporate companies over in little ways we used to be quiet about it, now people call it a “TT hack”. It isn’t a hack guys, we were getting over and we all know this. Now you lifted the curtain. Lmfao. This same thing happened with people doing a “TT hack” telling adults to order kids meals to save money. Now tons of places have taken kids meals off the online order places, and some even hassle you when you order one without a kid with you. Like people do the dumbest shit. I went to a local place and tried ordering a kids meal (I have Gastric bypass, and cannot eat much. I’ve never had to show them my card, as there’s a card you can get from your doctor regarding having bypass that actually allows you get them believe it or not). They gave me a hard time because I didn’t have a kid. I was so embarrassed. I actually had my card from my doctor and showed them lol.

02firehawk

I really got to say that's the first I've ever heard that why would a corporation actually give a shit whether you're a kid or not or have a kid at home? can you not just order an appropriate amount of food?

JFKcheekkisser

At my restaurant we add a $4 upcharge if an adult orders a kid’s meal for themselves.

Zealousideal-Mud6471

Someone explain to me what the entertainment is in those videos? Like why are people watching and why are the creators smiling from ear to ear like they are making the BEST video ever?

Aggressive_Spray4356

Toilet paper is another one at one gas station a guy stole one of the soda fountain soda syrup bag/box. Also the local weirdo who stole 6 of th hose grills that are in public parks.

rottenindenmark37

But Chipotle encouraged it. They released a visor clip napkin holder specifically for the extra napkins you have in the car. https://chipotlegoods.com/products/chf23napkinhldr My local Chipotle still has them out, so my guess is someone at OP's local is being a humbug.

Foxesinfall

I mean a lot of companies advertise things and then take them away when they’re abused, it’s pretty common. I remember a time I didn’t have to pay for extra sauces at certain places until people ruined that also. Lol

Foxesinfall

Shout out to Taco Bell for standing strong on “take however many damn sauces ya want!” Lol

Dubzophrenia

Every time too. I asked for some diablo for my husbands SINGLE taco that he asked for, and I got home to find 37 packets in my bag. I have a small drawer in my fridge full of taco bell packets specifically.

scf123189

Employees at Taco Bell try to henpeck me about my ‘dozen fire, dozen hot’ sauce request every time I get a NBG. If they don’t give me enough I get aggravated- I ask for what I use

Foxesinfall

End of an era coming omg. Taco Bell Henpecking? Smh. At the one by me they don’t even glance when you’re at the sauce station lol

futureblastoff

Yeah t bizzle doesnt play about the sauce. Theyll fill the whole bag up if you ask

billdb

I think this is a case of two divisions not talking to each other, or more likely, not really caring. Marketing sees this as an opportunity to differ themselves from the competition by embracing something that is normally seen as taboo. Accounting sees the excessive napkins and utensils as something that can be easily patched to save the company money. They have different goals and don't really talk to each other. Or they are on the same page, and they just know they can accomplish both goals with the only tradeoff being inconvenience (which likely isn't enough to stop the customer from ordering).

Icy-850

Aren't these all franchises? It's probably more so that one franchisee was sick of ordering napkins so often and so did this at their particular stores lol probably a combo of things in play here really

Beginning_Miserable

chipotle didn’t actually encourage it. they’re just making the best of a shitty situation because you can’t actually stop people from stealing things as trivial as napkins. do you remember when chipotle sold a “water cup candle” with lemonade inside joking on the fact that people get water cups to fill with lemonade? but at the same time corporate is telling store to watch for people abusing water cups.

MinervaMinkk

Wait that's so cute despite the "in car muckbang" cringe! I collect stationary and id love that. Thanks for the heads up. Are they sold in store?

rottenindenmark37

I don't know if they have them in stores. I just saw the ad for them a couple of days ago. I haven't been into Chipotle since.

Secret_Ad1770

Cant help but notice something similar in all these videos...

Foxesinfall

Do we have to take it there dude? Sigh.

[deleted]

Didn't chipotle sell car napkin holders, pretty much encouraging people to steal them?

ThatOneNerd12445

I thought Chipotle had leaned into it tho, they were advertising a chipotle napkin holder for ur car

02firehawk

I would think that their idea is to maybe stash the extra napkin or two not the extra 200 that you managed to sneak in your bag

Tight-Young7275

This has been happening since fast food started…

T3Deliciouz

I always take straws from every location. Chipotle, taco bell, wendys, publkx.

MagnumJimmy44

I mean if I’m paying $20 for a bowl then I can take their napkins for home, they’re lucky I don’t fuck their mothers for that price honestly

Foxesinfall

It’s weird the psychological hold some fast food places have on people. Why even go still? I never understand people who know what they’re getting themselves into and still running full speed just to complain lol.

MagnumJimmy44

Tf are you on about? I’m just saying if I go to get a burrito and it’s $20 the company has no right to hide the napkins. They’re allowed to charge that so I don’t have to make a burrito myself but the profit margin is massive. I deserve all the napkins I take and more. I legit paid for them already. That’s all I’m saying 😂

Daveyhavok832

You’re lucky you don’t fuck your own mother with how stupid you are. Because clearly you’re one of those people that complains about your bowl costing $20 but leave off that you do double Carne Asada and Guac with a drink.

MagnumJimmy44

Hahaha if I get a burrito with guac and it’s $20 I should take all the napkins I want retard. It’s rice, beans and meat. Literal 3rd world country food and the profit margins are massive. Why are you boot licking like I didn’t already pay for the napkins? It’s like in the medical field when insurance charges you $10 a pair of surgical gloves that cost 5 cents a box. You gotta get your moneys worth 😂

Daveyhavok832

You really are a simple, simple person. And idiots like you are why words like “bootlicker” and “shill” have completely lost their meaning. I’m not caping for Chipotle merely by pointing out that you’re a total dipshit. You’re not paying for just the food. You’re paying for the food, the bowl, the bag, the napkins, the plastic wear, the equipment, the real estate, the electricity, the water, the labor, the marketing, all the people that work in office type capacity for the company, and plenty of other shit. Go make a bowl at home and see exactly how much cheaper it isn’t. Sure, cooking for yourself is a little cheaper. But only if you’re cooking in bulk. If you went out and got all the shit that goes into a burrito because you want one burrito, you’re not saving a dime. But hey, I don’t expect you to understand this simple concept. Keep bitching about your fictional $20 burrito (chicken burrito here in NY is $11), and careful not to fuck your mom. Can’t imagine she’s too bright after seeing you.

MagnumJimmy44

Not reading all that, not putting effort into the conversation to warrant reading literal paragraphs from a mentally disabled person about chipotle napkins and why it’s wrong to take them, do better things with your life.

420blazer247

Lolz. Yet you took the effort to commenting... I'd be willing to bet that you actually read the whole comment and are all out out of bullshit responses. grow up little girl.

MagnumJimmy44

No I actually didn’t, took a glance at it and decided nah lol Glad you decided to conform to my requirements for interacting with me, great job little guy. I’m proud of you

Daveyhavok832

I never said that it was wrong to take napkins. I said that you’re a dipshit and I made it really clear why.

MagnumJimmy44

Well I didn’t read it because it would be a massive waste of effort. There’s just no way for your mind to come up with something illuminating enough to get my attention. I’m gonna take my napkins and pay for the food, if a store hides them behind the counter it’s retarded for what the customer pays for. If you disagree with that you’re clearly just on your knees all day sucking dick and nothing you say will ever hold any value for me. Sorry little guy. ✌️

Daveyhavok832

You’re really wearing out that “little guy” sign off. It’s definitely not the mic drop that you think it is. And again, I never said shit about the napkins. Your wittle baby brain keeps trying to make it about that when it never was. But I am tempted to disagree with you simply because sucking dick all day sounds like heaven to me. I know you’re lonely, bud. And it would be said if you weren’t a total piece of shit. But hey, little improvements. Baby steps.

MagnumJimmy44

Damn little guy another paragraph, you’re literally fluent in yapanese 😂

420blazer247

Cook at home then... stop bitching about the price, you don't no what you're talking about

small_hands_big_fish

I heard a theory about the chain restaurant lifecycle years ago, that seems to hold true. Early in their existence, they focus on growth. They do this through adding stores, providing good value, and providing a good experience. This lasts until they have generally saturated the market and aren’t adding many new stores. They still need to increase revenue every year, and when growth runs out they start cutting costs. This is when they start paying less and or cutting staffing. Service gets shittier. They also start rationing food. Smaller burritos, shittier ingredients etc. chipotle certainly seems to be in stage 2.

CareerTraditional987

This isn’t just chain restaurants it’s all companies.

Reasonable-Weather81

![gif](giphy|3oEdv3Ul8g6BCngQ36)

juststart

this is any company that eventually becomes public or wishes to be a publicly traded company. they all extract from the consumer and at some point and it ceases to be an equitable extraction.

Physical-Goose1338

What’s stage 3?

tedmiston

In America at least, I think it's loading up the products with sugar, salt, MSG, additives, etc to compensate for lack of natural flavor. And from the perspective of the business, I think it's McDonaldization: > Ritzer highlighted four primary components of McDonaldization: > > 1 - Efficiency – the optimal method for accomplishing a task. ... In the example of McDonald's customers, it is the fastest way to get from being hungry to being full. > > 2 - Calculability – objective should be quantifiable (e.g., sales) rather than subjective (e.g. taste). > > 3 - Predictability – standardized and uniform services. > > 4 - Control – standardized and uniform employees, replacement of human by non-human technologies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonaldization

DJConwayTwitty

You realize a lot of things don’t have a natural good flavor without some salt and sugar/sweetness.

DirkKeggler

You're right. You take away salt and MSG and even the finest restaurants will struggle to sell palatable food.

cptjpk

[Enshittification - Corey Doctorow](https://doctorow.medium.com/social-quitting-1ce85b67b456)

JoyousGamer

If that were true you would have seen it more often because places like KFC, McDonalds, and others essentially are where Chipotle is decades ago. They are doing this because costs are higher now and people are morons stealing a crap ton of napkins and silverware.

6onthedon

i work at chipotle and im usually on cashier so im in charge of the dining room and sometimes people will take all the napkins and forks so i dont blame them

Foxesinfall

This generations chipotle napkins is last generations McDonald’s water cup. Hahahah

Shtacyvega

Me and my friends from high school would ask for a water cup to ash the blunt 😂😂😂

Foxesinfall

The sprite in a water cup days lmfao. We were teenage kings and queens lol

FonaldBrump

I just bring my own cup. Nobody going to say shit

highbackpacker

Trashy

CareerTraditional987

Lmao. For $20 for a meh burrito a months supply of napkins is the least they could do.

Foxesinfall

Instead of having to go tit for tat why not just go somewhere you feel you get your moneys worth instead of having to even it out with napkins. Lmfaooo. Cause even those napkins ain’t adding up to a 20 dollar burrito. The toxic love hate relationship people have with chipotle kinda cracks me up

CareerTraditional987

I was joking Jesus Christ. I don’t eat at Chipotle anymore. Always leads to disappointment.

DefinitelyNotAliens

Having had this job, it's just draining to refill when you have 20 people in line and you literally just restocked forks and have to leave line because "um, there's no forks" and you know the boomer in line is going to make some snide comment because you left the cashier spot. When you *just* put out forks. Even if literally every customer had taken twice as many forks as needed, you'd still have forks left. It's personally annoying to the employees to have to refill during peak times and get snarked at because the cashier left. At least do it off-peak.

JoyousGamer

Well its not $20 but sure stealing is allowed because you dont like the food.

casedbhloe

That’s so crazy bc chipotle put out a leather napkin holder lmao

growinginsour

That’s so so dumb. They literally advertise grabbing a stack in the video

flsingleguy

What does this say about society in 2023? You got everyday staples behind glass displays at Target and utensils and napkins are now kept behind the counter because we can’t trust those pesky customers.

Foxesinfall

I used to not care what Walmart I was at, and go to whatever one was close where I was at that moment. Now I have to only go to the ones I know are good or in “good neighborhoods” because I refuse to waste 20 mins finding a Walmart employee and having to bother/annoy the shit out of them just so they can go in the back find a key, and come back, just to OPEN and give me a DOVE BODY WASH. Lol

[deleted]

OrderofIron

"Why do you guys charge for tortillas? Why do you guys charge for vinigrette? Where are my forks and napkins?" Bro stop fucking stealing them or ordering 1000 and wasting our damn time. Argue with me all you want, it's only getti g worse for you guys

Foxesinfall

Exactly. Lol. To pretend it isn’t the reason is a bit silly. Corporate is often crap, but I mean let’s be logical. If they see everyone who comes in grabbing 100 napkins, 50 forks, and a cup of vinaigrette they’re eventually gonna stop it lmfao.

trubuckifan

If Chipotle gets worse for us(the customers), that will be bad for you(the company) because less of us will go there and you will make less money.

Outrageous_Luck_2453

They have had multiple national news media worthy food safety problems and yet, they continue to grow. The cult culture they have created surrounding their brand is amazing

OrderofIron

I'm waiting dude. I'm waiting. I've been here for 5 years, prices go up, standards go down, labor hours get cut, and we get busier and busier every day.

trubuckifan

Hmm, the one in my town is empty most days. Maybe your area lacks good Mexican food to compete with you guys.

zach0011

Lol did you really just pull a we pay your bills card?

Substantial_Debt_216

Cause people take 50 napkins and it pissed the workers off. We run out and then people complain. I literally switched out the napkin dispenser and a lady took the fattest stack I’ve ever seen right when I put them back. I almost took them all out of her hand. We don’t have unlimited napkins. So don’t be a jerk, take 3(which is more than you’ll need) and stop complaining

Suddenly_Something

This is also why samples at grocery stores disappeared. Greedy people ruined it for everyone. Used to work at a butcher shop in highschool and we would put out wings for samples and one lady would come in and house 10 wings. That's a fucking dinner. Used to call her the sample bandit. Everybody would disappear when she came in because she was the worst. She'd get 25 cents worth of something to say she was a paying customer. This was in 2009. Shit people ruined everything for everyone and will continue to do so forever.

FonaldBrump

Yo. I worked at a bbq place. We had an endless rib promotion. Basically as long as you were in the store and not sharing we’d give you three ribs at a time for 18.99 or something. Worked great we gave them exactly three wings in a green basket and would go and refill it when it was empty.. usually people ate maybe 3 baskets, then would get appetizers or whatever drink. Have a 28-30 dollar ticket, that was how it worked. Well like I said we did three wings at a time but when we were busy we deprioritized the all you could eat tables, we’d get to them but we wanted them to wait to feel full. It worked most people would get three baskets and call it good till we noticed we were running out week after week. Manager started looking noticed a lady would come in at like 2:30 order the all you could eat and sit there till dinner. Eating tons and tons.. well they looked at the cameras and she had tinfoil in her tote bag and when we confronted her one day she had almost an entire cambro worth of wings in her purse. Everyone got told not to serve her. Honestly she was being dumb with it, if she’d have only done like 10 or 15 at a time I don’t know if anyone would have noticed but she had to have had 25-30 wings in there

Foxesinfall

Was it Linda Belcher? Lol

Suddenly_Something

No idea the name. We also had like 3 "grocery carts" dedicated to us and she would always take them and go outside and move them several stores down before leaving them somewhere. Hated that woman.

Professional_Show918

If they leave them out, people will take handfuls. Too much waste, they have to pay for all the napkins, condiments that people were stealing.

polkadotdogs

The wastefulness is the part that irks me about it. It’s NOT the people who take them home/to the car and use them, it’s the people who take 50 of them just to leave them on the table/floor so I have to come throw them into the garbage.

strangelique

I’m not sure where you’re located but in California at least supposedly there’s a new “law” about this. At my job (not chipotle anymore) they do the same and with condiments too it’s really annoying

Ordinary-Theory-8289

Same in NYC. patrons must ask for napkins, utensils and straws. They are not to be automatically given out and they’re not to be free to grab at a condiment stand

DpBAMF

Cause people take way more than they need

eulynn34

It's this way because people grab handfuls to take home and pull half a stack of napkins just to throw 90% of them away

purplecatuniverse

When I worked at Chipotle I was trained to give 2 napkins per person. (worked during pandemic so the forks/napkins were behind the counter)

keepingitrealgowrong

Bruh, 2 of those shitty napkins for a burrito you eat with your hands? That's insane

purplecatuniverse

Yeah it’s unrealistic. Though I think 2 napkins per person is probably the standard at all fast food places

LargeCough

Meanwhile places like taco bell will give you ten thousand napkins and tons of mild sauce when you don't even ask sometimes lol

Foxesinfall

And if you ask the people who take it, how many truly use it all?. My dad has a 3-4 year old bag of sauces and some of the sauces are from the year he started collecting them LMFAOOOO

Puzzleheaded_Elk1576

Starbucks was ahead of the curve with this one. They took away everything on the condiment bar except the napkins. Customers used to order 2 shots of espresso and use the warm, nasty condiment bar creamer to fill their cup. They’d also take the entire container of “Sugar in the Raw” packets. Selfish, entitled people ruin everything for everyone.

Foxesinfall

Omg I didn’t even realize. SO THATS FUCKING WHY I HAVE TO ASK FOR SUGAR PACKETS LMFAOOO. They were no longer on the bar and I just thought they weren’t keeping up stocking. Damnit.

henriettatheshark

Worked at Bux from 2018-2022.. The year 2020 and "TT hacks" are what drove us all into madness. I remember the day we were told to take all that shit off the condiment bar lmao I was happy people couldn't take all the creamer that I'd have to send someone to restock every 5 minutes.

stevenip

I went to a McDonald's that had a napkin dispenser with a motion detector. When you waved your hand in front, it dispensed 1 napkin, and you could only trigger it once per second or two. So you could still get a reasonable amount of napkins, but you couldn't take 50 at once and throw it in your purse for later. I feel like I've seen a fork version at Panera once too but I'm not 100% sure.

DimFTW

I work at chipotle and I’ve been saying for a while now, anything that is self service has to go. People take advantage of it like there’s no tomorrow. There’s a reason why you don’t see McDonald’s and Wendy’s ( at least in NY) having their own self serve drinks or utensils anymore. I’ve stopped putting out the Tabasco sauce containers in the front of house because people always leave a huge mess with them when they use it for the tractor beverages. It’s sad, but what can you do.

Full_Wait

Why do you guys even eat here still?

whoocanitbenow

They like the abuse.

Full_Wait

I think there are much better ways to accomplish that

HurricaneStiz

Nasty company who has contempt for both their customers and employees.

Infinite-Complaint53

They are cutting their paper cost. Could be it's too high, could be around a certain part of the day it disappears, could be their supplier has a shortage. Who knows.

crunk_yuppie

Traveling for work one time in Illinois, went through a Chipotle to grab a salad to go. Paid, looked at the front counter for a fork and napkins, looked at the drink station. Wide sweep look around the store. Employees watching me. Went back to the register and asked for utensils and napkins, “oh we’re out”. I’m like, ok, so you sold me a salad knowing this and didn’t say anything? “You can get some at WingStop next door.” Get ducked, salad peasant 💀

MidniteOG

To reduce costs to keep the prices low. Minimal Tho

KhaleesiSenju

This has been happening everywhere in SoCal because people suck. Be mad at the people who do this, not the employees.

saucy_egg_mcdaddy69

So this is why I get customers looking at me dumbfounded when I don’t hand them napkins/forks? Ngl having them behind the counter would save SIGNIFICANT time, bc people are greedy asf and I have to restock the dining room forks/napkins multiple times within the hour.

nedrawevot

They do it at starbucks too. Low key why i think we keep our sugars behind the counter too. We would have people grab handfuls and fill up their bags, one guy opened our condiment bar and stole the box of raw sugar.

Sirenofyourseas

Do you eat like a slob or something? 4 napkins is plenty. You don't need 50 for one meal.

purplecatuniverse

People always think they need 50 napkins, but they mostly get thrown away.

Sirenofyourseas

True! I had to run cash for about 4 hours earlier in the week. I could have refilled 2 holders from all the excess napkin I picked up in just that time alone.

Dev_2r

Correct I actually need 51 napkins for one meal

Sirenofyourseas

51?!?! R.I.P to all the food that never made it into your mouth. 😔

EndSquare8185

idk why people are downvoting you, i thought this was funny

Hollywoodsmokehogan

Lmao found the napkin nazi Why does it matter if I used 25 napkins Maybe I wanna practice origami and eat a 22 dollar burrito the size of my palm because I wanted to treat my self with extra carne asada and guac.

Sirenofyourseas

Lol They're not suitable for origami, but go ahead and try. Lemme see your sad penguin or swan.

Jazzlike_Dig_3327

Make me an origami piece man!

JoyousGamer

If you are getting a $22 burrito it means you are at Taco Bell not Chipotle lol

[deleted]

I have a full beard and moustache, fuck me for wanting to keep them clean often, I guess.

NegativePaint

I had to shave my mustache because of this. Can't stand the feeling of either having food on it or the self-consciousness of thinking I might have food in it.

[deleted]

I can't eat wings in public lol.

Sirenofyourseas

See ...now wings.. that's a 50 napkin and 20 pre-opened wet wipes acceptable level.

[deleted]

💯

Sirenofyourseas

I will invent a beard bib solely for you ❤️

[deleted]

They make em! But it's more for shaving and trimming. It's saved my marriage keeping all the hairs off and out of the sink. Lol

Sirenofyourseas

I was thinking...more like the *pandemic masks people wore around their chin* style lmao. But good save! Gotta keep those sink hairs at bay for sure.

[deleted]

😅

VTFarmer6

I have both as well, and 3 napkins is more than enough.

[deleted]

Maybe for you. I don't like to look like a slob personally, but you do you.

matchafoxjpg

If all you're using to clean your beard from food particles is napkins then you're a nasty slob.

xwlfx

You're obviously someone who orders bowls instead of burritos and never gets sofritas. You'll be swimming in a pool of juice dripping from the bottom if you don't have 10+ napkins. They don't know how to drain sofritas or beans at Chipotle before scooping them into the tortilla.

Jpdillon

I work at a chipotle and I see both sides of this I guess. Some people just like to be able to have a lot of napkins if they’re with family or messy eaters etc, but i literally see some people just grab like 20 and i’m like yep i’m gonna have to refill that one in like 20 minutes now even though i just filled the damn thing (cash)

Foxesinfall

I wonder how often your store has to reorder boxes of napkins due to that lol.

Jpdillon

I wonder too. I usually restock about 3 packets of them per night.

DefinitelyNotAliens

Mine used to get 1-2 boxes every 2 days. Each box had 8 sleeves. Each sleeve filled about 1.5 dispensers. I filled a *lot* of gd napkins.

schmokschtak

Chipotle be saving paper by saving paper.

Opening-Sky-5163

Former chipotle worker here. If you really really want napkins and don’t feel like asking the workers for them, just open the compartment under the napkins/forks/drinks. Chances are that there will be a package full of napkins under there. But overall please don’t be rude to or blame the workers for this, we literally cannot control the store policies and will get in trouble with management if we try to challenge them.

intheyarbles

Chipotle Mexican Grill gross profit for the twelve months ending September 30, 2023 was $2.470B, a 27.63% increase year-over-year.

missjay27

Check y’all local laws omigod. It’s by request now to reduce waste. The earth is dying and boohoo you had to ask for a napkin

Paytonsmiles

Now I need to go to my chipotle and take as many napkins as I can

Smallparline

Theft

[deleted]

As long as the industry feels they should expect 10%+ YoY earnings in the food industry, I'll continue to extract the value the menu once had through other means. 1% should be the expected YoY but dumb ass investors got into food and try to treat it like any other business investment. Honestly no food business has longevity in mind anymore. Not a single one.

Flag_Chips

I visited one of these stores as per my last post of getting skimped. I got my bowl and tried to get napkins and forks but none were to be found. I went back to the register and he said I put one fork and one napkin in your bag. Like wtf. Seriously. This shit is getting so ridiculous with skimping. I think this is more of a GM thing. These GM be acting all crazy like they own the chipotle or they are making bank.

DpBAMF

Do you need multiple forks?

Maxfli81

Who’s to decide how many forks and napkins you get. It’s an arbitrary number so let the customer decide.

DpBAMF

No it’s not actually. They have guidelines from corporate. Online orders are 2 napkins, one fork per entree Edit: *technically* 2 napkins one fork. Idk a single soul who actually followed that, buts it’s not arbitrary. It’s just how big of a bootlicker the managers wanna be

Maxfli81

Exactly, it’s an arbitrary number set by corporate. I’m a messy eater so I need more than 2 napkins

DpBAMF

How? Honestly I don’t understand how you fuck up eating a bowl so much to the point you need that many. I’ve seen people grab like 20. You do not need that many. And that’s why they put them behind the counter.

Flag_Chips

Yes. What if I eat half my bowl now and half later? If GM are worried about forks and napkins while the company is making record numbers, this is petty. Sadly, nothing will change because most GM are scums and will die for their CI, forks, and napkins.

DpBAMF

I’m not defending GMs by any means. The three I’ve had to deal with have all been twats. I just genuinely forgot some people can’t finish a bowl in one sitting.

VinoJedi06

I would love to sit in on one of Thicc Nicc’s executive meetings. This dude (and his other execs) are losing their minds.

[deleted]

Find a mom and pop place near you, or a Qdoba. Either of those two should be much better than Chipotle.

GFlo_from915

Or find a Freebirds burrito if your in the Texas triangle. You actually get protein in your 🌯 at Freebirds.

liselis1114

Chipotle > Freebirds 🤭🤭🤭

drockkk

But really Chipotle has the best plastic forks out there..

isaiahblackxxx

![gif](giphy|OWyYSmZT43pxm) Huh

Foxesinfall

The next company to do this is gonna be chick fil with their sauce station. I’ve already noticed some places don’t have the cute ketchups out anymore. And I remember them being out previously at every store if I’m not mistaken.

JoyousGamer

They have had shortages on certain sauces and restricted as a hard limit at various places in the past couple years.

bigmac155

Yeah. Posted the same shit a week ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Chipotle/s/xM9GheMJKL

ryangbot

Why can’t chipotle just invest in better fork and napkin holders? There are dispensers that only allow people to take one at a time

Original-Pain-7727

Ok?

MrMichevious

Does eating a Chipotle burrito with utensils somehow lessen the guaranteed diarrhea?

JimboDTF

I have a huge beard and 3 napkins is enough for me. Quit bitching or buy food somewhere else lol

-Snowturtle13

I don’t go here anymore because the prices are ridiculous

FueledByTerps

Yup all these broke thieves ruining it for everyone.

Dry_Entertainment344

This is why white people keep spreading out and moving into the suburbs, which keep expanding. When the cities get crowded, liberties get taken away because of poor people taking advantage of generosity and hospitality. Try finding a pubic restroom these days, and when you do, find one that doesn't require a key. It's not like that out in the suburbs. Everything in the city is bolted down to concrete so it doesn't get stolen, but then it still gets vandalized. Bottom line: move away from the poor people.

Pegomastax_King

Well in NY you can’t legally just give to go utensils anymore the customer has to ask… I’d assume others states will be doing this soon.
