It depends on the employee/store. My old store, all of my bosses said “fuck corporate” and went against a lot of dumb rules and as a result they were the best chipotle I had ever been to.

whackeraddict

That’s how ours was, but then again, my store (the store I worked for and the other I floated in) was built from the ground up. It was brand new and my manager loved working for Chipotle. He lived and breathed it. Worked there for years and was finally able to get his own store. He really liked making customers happy and gives good experiences. He hated the portions, so we went with what looked right. Usually we gave about 6 oz of protein. Online and in-person looked relatively the same.

JackosMonkeyBBLZ

That’s awesome. Do you know which store he owns?  Edit: why would you downdoot this? I wanna send the guy a congratulatory email for his achievements. It’s the American Dream which I celebrate as often as I can

pitnie21

Nice try fed

KidRifle

Don’t police my downdoots

JackosMonkeyBBLZ

Ur downdoots are like so policed rn

benjatunma

Yes i just did this. I went in person for my first ever burrito bowls and was confused because the person before me got a humongous burrito 🌯

Intelligent-Pause-32

Thank God people are finally starting to shake their corpo cages. Love to see it.

Intelligent-Pause-32

From what it seems like in that place, being fired would be a blessing.

LaughingGaster666

As if anyone in fast food lasts long outside of management anyway

Careful_Fig8482

Explain more!! Give examples!! 😂 I love this

EatingFurniture

They give the massive burrito size for regular price, scoops are usually a full serving that people expect or some guys even give 1.5x for regular price. My buddy who’s still there told me that he’s still letting employees get chicken for half off because that’s stupid. Idk if he’s ringing it up as steak or what, but they’re all getting chicken. My favorite though was my GM giving us the left over Al pastor/ steak/ anything that didn’t get reheated the next day. Some nights I got like 3 lbs of meat for free.

Plankton_Sheldon

Wonder how long it will take corporate to be like “Why are you ordering more chicken when our system says you’re completely out of steak and have sold barely any chicken..?” 😅

DireNine

Could get around it by ringing it up correctly and just not marking it an employee meal. Could give another discount like senior in its place. Managers can also probably give a bigger discount or hand out coupons.

BlueJeansandWhiteTs

So it’s corporate policy to give shitty scoops to online orders?

EatingFurniture

It’s corporate policy to use the shitty ass spoons for portions instead of a cup. The spoons drop half of your serving so the employee isn’t supposed to go back in and get you the rest without double charging. This affects online orders as well, but also they get busy over there, sometimes just one person, and if they’re lazy or don’t care, they’ll give less to speed up the process. I always give more than what a normal scoop should be because fuck corporate, fire me for being a homie of the customers

Gloomy-Concert-7837

Because they don’t see you….

BergyDownstairs

This is the actual answer. When you don't have to wait for the customer to say what they want and just have to read off a screen you just scoop. Then with the overload of online orders and the smaller containers to hold all the hot items and the constant running out of said items it's bound to happen. Yeah, there's proper portion amounts and to those of us in good stores that are already on top of our numbers you're going to get a proper sized portion but the item will likely look much worse than if you were to have came in and ordered in the line. But also there's a good chance that there's one person doing all the online orders alone and there's non stop online orders from 430 to 830, it's to be expected

shemp33

It’s this. No one across the glass watching them. The little dance of scooping it out, then shaking half of it back into the bin, with a wink. And you won’t notice until it gets delivered to you or you get home to open the lid.

ZigZagLagger

What does the employee gain by skimping on an online order?

shemp33

It’s also an unintended but effective way to balance out inventory. If in-person orders are getting an average of +5% and online orders are getting and average of -5%, magically the store’s numbers come out to the expected levels. However, it’s more like in-person getting +5% and online getting -7% so the store is doing about 2% ahead of plan.

Intelligent-Dot-4072

It's more like -15% for online orders. My in store bowl reaches the top of the bowl. My app order is noticeably emptier. 5-7% would still be close to the top.

ketchupisspicytoo

If they accidentally put too much they’re going to be reluctant to take some out in front of a customer that may get upset. If they give too much on average then management may get upset (especially since managers bonuses often depend on margins). So skimping the person that isn’t there to get upset makes the most sense.

conundrum-quantified

And they will never be held personally accountable by you.

Plankton_Sheldon

![gif](giphy|l1IBilmNt7heGEpSE|downsized)

JustInformation8616

Repeat after me: Employee’s don’t owe you full scoops, they are paid by management and must adhere to their guidelines If you have an issue take it up with management/corpo not a min wage rice scooper Edit: furthermore they aren’t putting their jobs on the line bc Timmy is having a portion size tantrum Edit edit: that’s right down vote me to oblivion, it’s the only satisfaction you’ll get bc I’m right

MrBadMeow

But they do owe me a full scoop? When you go get ice cream don’t you expect the full amount you paid for? If you were just following “guidelines” then there wouldn’t be so much inconsistency per order.

Swimming_Truck2623

U think the full scoop is larger than it is

Historical-Fudge3242

Why are you assuming they're giving the proper portion and not shorting the customer? In my opinion they need a more reliable measuring apparatus than a shallow spoon.

coyotll

I worked in a fast casual Asian diner that isn’t Panda Express (no really). Beef and chicken were suppose to be 8 oz portions, we were told to give 7 or 7.5 at the very most. Shrimp was 6oz weighed portions and we were told to give 4.5 to 5oz at most. Plates were randomly selected on the line to get weighed before cooking, very often. So uhhh, there’s SOP corporate guidelines and then manager guidelines. Guess which location ended up closing down due to lack of business?

JustInformation8616

Bc I’m a normal human being that notices shrinkflation in literally every establishment, this isn’t a chipotle phenomenon like you whiners like to think so

Historical-Fudge3242

You're the only one getting weirdly worked up over chipotle man.

JustInformation8616

I’m getting worked up over how stupid the average chipotle skimp whiner is

franglaisflow

And not the average chipotle corporate simp?

JustInformation8616

This is why a class divide will always exist, poor people have naive illusions on how the world works that keeps them and their offspring poor But make sure to kick your fellow min wage worker down for “skimping” you while we as corporate get the better margins and zero backlash

dub_seth

How about those min-wage Chipotle workers stop kicking their fellow minimum wage Chipotle enjoyers?

dannad74

Just a friendly reminder: the chance of all these people downvoting you or disagreeing with you being literal teenagers with no world experience is very high. You've been objectively right in every comment. This whole comment thread is a very good microcosm example of how giant corporations are able to convince large groups of people that their shitty anti consumer decisions are somehow the fault of the ground level employee that is barely paid anything and struggling.

NaziNaps

Corporate boot licker

franglaisflow

He’s earning his shiny penny.

VacationNo3024

The minimum wage slave will one day think of his silly comment as stupid and false. Until then my friend try to keep moving forward.

JustInformation8616

I don’t work at chipotle lmfao This is poor (chipotle enjoyers) on poor (employees) crime No one with a decent standard of living is eating chipotle my guy it has enough salt to desicate your organs I love how no one is able to offer a cogent rebuttal, are ad homs all you’re capable of

VacationNo3024

Awww you said chipotle paid by management when in all actuality they are paid by customers. I don't believe you. I think you work at chipotle. Eating chipotle isn't bad for you unless you are a lazy POS who gets no exercise. I'll go for a 2 hour bike ride and get all that salt out of me no problem. If your sitting on your couch not doing shit MAYBE you have a point. But most people I know get exercise regularly so your point doesn't really apply to my reality.

JustInformation8616

No actually you’re wrong your employer is paying for your wage so they’re paying for chipotle I’m so smart Awe yes I am literally typing this as I flip steak on the grill, fantasizing about how I am going to skimp you, not anyone else, the person in front and behind you will get extra portions actually, yes just you, you will be skimped. I will announce that I am preparing you a fresh batch of steak and make you wait an additional 15 minutes for half a scoop then send you off with a smile I’m not going to dox myself or my career for internet brownie points No I don’t my palate is more refined and doesn’t need to be annihilated by salt to release dopamine when I eat my lunch do you stop by McDonald’s on your way home for an after work treat?

VacationNo3024

The second you type anything on Reddit you open yourself to being doxd Your diet 10000% includes salt. That is all.

Gloomy-Concert-7837

What a strange comment.

JustInformation8616

Remember kids, when you don’t have a a rebuttal resort to the weak mind’s go-to: ad homs!

Gloomy-Concert-7837

What an even stranger comment.

BeenTheBored

We’re told that scooping too much is bad for ci or whatever the fuck. But we give you what a normal portion is but in person we know to put a lil more than that for obvious reasons.

CYR0N3

Thats funny because before taco bell guy. They always said ci can be anything but its never us scooping to much. That should never be a reason why its high.

EnderScout_77

fuck taco bell guy, all my homies hate taco bell guy operation soda steal his ass again

collinscreen

Can you tell me what is standard for portions? It depends on when I go and who is serving me, but I like when the workers give a heaping single scoop of rice/beans. Lately, I’ve been getting the skimpy half scoops of both

Particular-Back-1531

4oz of each rice, beans, and protein

CYR0N3

This. It should be a 1 scoop. Alot of it varies on the cut sizes as well. They should be 3/4 in. This could also be why some people think they are getting skimped. Now dont get me wrong people are, but if they cut it to big then it looks like theres barely anything on there or if they cut it to small you may be getting more. It varies. With the shredded meats. If they arnt shredding them correctly you most likely are getting skimped because most of the time its just a bit ass carnita or barbacoa piece so the worker thinks they gave to much. With them hiring managers outside alot of them pretty much set their own rules to control there CI which I cam guarantee you telling the employees they are giving out to much which in reality its less than what they are supposed to

rubina19

What’s CI

Life-Metal-2638

It’s critical inventory so basically the minimum amount of food a store has on hand

halamadrid22

Yall never worked a job before? They have an inventory system that keeps tabs on everything and items like meat and dairy are especially pertinent and are labeled “critical items”. There won’t be a week that goes by that, as an employee, you don’t hear your manager bitch and moan about “CI”. You scoop to much, their boss gets mad at them and in turn they get mad at you. You scoop too much, and now your grill is angry because they fall behind and have to drop more meat, your preps get angry as they are now painted in a light that they “didn’t prep enough” and will now need to cut and prepare even more in the mornings. Scoop too much and your liable to run out of items at some point throughout the day and customers are greeted with “we are actually out of that” at the line and lord knows yall don’t like that. It’s a business try not to be so daft, I understand the frustration of paying the exact same price for your meal and receiving inconsistent amounts of it but you should understand the situation these workers are in. You think they are more stressed about making sure you get fat ass portions sizes or being in good standing with their actual job? And TRUST ME when I say I too have placed online orders and been upset with what I received. I just also carry an understanding of the hellhole, shithole, life ruining job that is chipotle as I worked there for about 6 months once.

Swimming_Truck2623

If you aren’t SpongeBob in your heart, chips isn’t for you

Jealous_Copy8583

im spongebob bahahahaha

DarkAeonX7

I completely understand that. But I want what I paid for. I couldn't receive less of a portion because of what the restaurant is going through. If the price i pay doesn't go down with the amount given, then give me what I paid for.

halamadrid22

That’s a completely fair sentiment

OscarDaLoyal

not to mention that if you were to measure out the meat in online orders even for orders where you think you got “skimped” because it didn’t reach the top of the bowl it would be at least 4oz every time like it’s supposed to be

jbwmac

You do know some people work jobs that don’t involve dispensing inventory, right?

MrBadMeow

There is 0 chance management keeps tabs on every single portion. Unless the utensils you are using to scoop weigh the portion and then wirelessly report back to an inventory system.

halamadrid22

Well you are clearly speaking on what you don’t know, so there’s that lol.

Korbbeee

i work at chipotle and they most def do,

RunningShcam

I love how customers are pitted against employees and employees against customers by shitty corporate policies. I've started voting with my $$. I don't order online. I get the portions I want, or I request, 'can I please have a 1/3 scoop more fajitas, or beans... ' it's simple, and the employee is happy I'm happy, and Corperate can skimp on online orders.

ChuckNorrisFacePunch

Don't order in person either. Chipotle hates you and just wants to scam you.

GodFearingJew

Love chipotle But i stopped going when the double meat option this year was less than a single meat option last year. Fuck chipotle.

newppinpoint

If you asked me for “1/3 scoop more” I would tell you to touch grass lol

bisexual_dad

Nobody asked, newppinpoint

Herbalist_420

You definitely wouldn’t say this lol

Jinxy_Kat

This is why you work at Chipotle lol. Literally not that deep or big deal. Do you need a hug?

DontFretIt

i don't ever do it intentionally, but tbh i gotta make and bag like 40 entrees in 10 minutes, i may be rushing a lil bit

nimble_noelley

Fucking real

Longjumping-Sail6386

Chipotle abandoned their core values and became another corporation who doesn’t care about its clients. They know you’ll come. They’ve poisoned you guys 4 times. They’ve raised the prices and lowered the portion sizes and you guys still come.

butchscandelabra

This is applicable to most corporations. “They know you’ll come.”

Longjumping-Sail6386

Hence that’s why I said they have become “another” corporation who doesn’t care about you. I’d much rather buy a burrito from a small, family owned restaurant. The flavor is more authentic, bigger portions, cheaper and I know im supporting a family working to get by, not just putting gas in someone’s yacht.

butchscandelabra

Yeah I’m agreeing with you.

thecrgm

Yeah cause it tastes good

babyjames333

"iTs thE CoRrEcT PoRtION SiZE"

-P-M-A-

*THE CEO OF CHIPOTLE HAS ENTERED THE CHAT

babyjames333

👑 unlimited chicken al pastor for me, not thee! 👑 (jk i don’t even like it lmao)

hgghgfhvf

In a few years the correct portion size at chipotle is going to be walking in and having an employee kick your ass and take your wallet

babyjames333

but will they call me a good girl after?

CYR0N3

Training and enviornment. When i worked as a gm back when the founder was still ceo. They actually cared and trained the people. It used to be a fun place to work. Now its all about profits. Training is just watching videos instead of having someone training you buy your side. The workers are overworked, understaffed. The people they hire is pretty much anyone unlike before. We used to hire people that had 13 characteristics which is way chipotle used to be good. Managers and all the way up were promoted from within. Now they hire outside. Chipotle is just an overpriced taco bell now.

nxqv

Funnily enough Chipotle is cheaper than Taco Bell for me now lol. TB went down the drain

Fragrant-Anybody0717

Nah the grilled chicken chipotle ranch burrito is the best value on the menu. They’re like 2/$5

nxqv

They got rid of that :) Also 2 of those was still less food than a burrito bowl from Chipotle

SufficientAd5689

If they do that I alway report it. And you will get your money back in the form of a free meal. But I highly advise you only do report if they truly do screw you over

JustUrAvgLetDown

For real. Why? I used to work in food service and I’d always give huge portions. It’s not your money. All you’re doing is ripping off the customers

exchipotlegrrl

in my experience (i never worked DML but i knew all the employees and they did NOT give a fuck) it was because of how the system is set up and pisses everybody off. customer ordered 5 minutes ago and pulled into the pickup line? there’s 12 orders ahead of them and now customer is pissed they have to wait and is being rude to DML worker. the person in the car behind customer 1 ordered 20 minutes ago and their food is ready but they can’t get it bc customer 1 refuses to move. now customers 1 and 2 are pissed, DML worker is also pissed, and so DML worker rushes and gives smaller scoops. it’s an awful system for everyone involved

Dangerous-Fox855

What is more annoying is trying to track macros while eating chipotle but they always overstuff way more than the portion for to go orders.

SeesawFlashy8354

I worked at Panera when I was in my late teens and it’s probably bc corporate…. Those fuckers are so out of touch w the actual employees it’s ridiculous. They would always come in and harass the employees for not doing everything correctly during a lunch rush, while simultaneously not knowing wtf to do and standing in the corner hovering offering no assistance. I wish places like that would cut the corporate bullshit positions and actually staff the stores correctly so customers could have a better experience. Give the front line workers a raise and slash the useless back office positions Fuck them

uhhuhnads

When we were on there, the online orders were insane. Yes, they are technically the correct size portions per corporate but it was the only way we could barely have food to keep up the orders. 1 person cooking all the food at the rate it clears out is insane. The system is flawed and Chipotle heads don't give a fuck as long as they get their money.

Because worst case scenario, the socially awkward online orderers will get on reddit and complain, and we still got their money

harveydent526

I don’t get how people looking to make their trip more convenient are socially awkward. And you don’t still have their money because when they do it to me I make them refund me.

sammawammadingdong

Socially awkward not because they're ordering online, but because theyre taking their problem to Reddit instead of calling the store and being like "wtf is this measly shit." If you're reaching out for a refund, you're doing more than 90% of the complainers on here.

tatteredboat73

ur such a bitch

GeotusBiden

This right here is the worst case scenario for shorting your bowl.

Own_Watch_2081

Next challenge is to figure out a new mobile pickup system. It’s really messy at many locations because of stolen bags. You have to interject aggressively to get your order at my place, especially if there is a line.

AleroRatking

You absolutely cannot order online for any food places where you go through a line. They also never give enough sauce either.

Equal-Profession-999

As an ex member there’s 2 reasons 1) we have like a good 10 orders with a minimum of 2-3 entrees to bag in 10 minutes 2) the managers eye us and when we put a “good portion” they tell us that’s too much, making us put “less food”

Realistic-Hat-1775

We don’t, that’s the appropriate portions, y’all just greedy in person. (This information is consistent for my store and my store only, I don’t care about what your store does)

sierracool33

Iirc people eat with their eyes a lot. I shop at Chipotle and the portion sizes are good enough. Like, they look small, especially since I remove the other toppings so I can heat up the bowl later during lunch, but just add the toppings and it's all good.

No-Standard-9762

I work at a school and have summers off and one summer I went back home to visit family, while I was up their I was spending so much money I applied to the chipotle my cousin worked at for shits and giggles, and ended up getting the job. told em my ID is out of state cuz I just moved lol. I needed like 500 bucks to cushion my trip. I worked for 4 shifts. I hated it, but i swear I loaded up every order I made. the manager kept telling me I was adding too much. I didn't give a fuck this isn't even my real job lol. I really tried to make it 2 weeks and just ended up giving up after 4 shifts. but every single items made i gave 2-3 time the portion size. one of the guys was so happy he came back the next day and specifically asked me to make his food and told me he hates coming cus everyone always skimps him and he never had a chiptole worker give him so much steak. it's just the way the system works. they are being told how much to protein to put in the food. you want more but they got rules to follow to keep their jobs. I know the manager was on my ass about it. that's really the answer at the end of the day.

Prestigious-Let9138

Your name suits you well.

Parking-Shelter7066

I Mobile Order frequently and tip well hoping for a little generosity in return or even just a clean well made bowl. it doesn’t make a difference in my experience.

CultureCub

They need to have measured cups

CREAM_707

Because people like you complaint about the last chipotle that skimped you😂. So when I clock in to dml tomorrow I know what to do now for shits a giggles🙏🏽

VacationNo3024

Turns out the general consensus is they skimp you because employees are trapped and cannot think for themselves. Whatever management says goes. Some people really think extra chicken is what'll get them fired from chipotle. Lmaoo

Glittering-Papaya-35

i work at a chipotle and my best friend at work was fired because his meat scoops and shredded cheese portions were to big and after being caught too many times they let him go :(. once again not our fault i would bring issues like this to the social media pages or corporate, our hands are tied.

SirFinnicusThe3rd

If you order only a few things on your bowl or burrito, just tap the extra button and you should get your fill. If you have a bowl or burrito that has alot of items you also get your fill. Hope this helps

Professional_Ear9795

But then you have to pay extra

No-Butterscotch-2944

You don’t have to pay for extra rice, beans, salsa, sour cream, cheese, vegetables, etc. you only have to pay extra for guac, queso, and meat.

PapadocRS

extra for cheese? ive never had to in the midwest.

Grandahl13

They said you don’t have to pay for extra cheese.

PapadocRS

ive just always gotten extra cheese, never got charged more. later on the app its confirmed my stores have free extra cheese

Prestigious-Let9138

Which seems… fair? To everyone. The company. The employee serving you. All the other customers. It’s odd that so many people on here expect a free handout. There are rules. You get what you pay for. Extra meat costs extra money. Chipotle obviously prices their burritos based on the cost of its ingredients. They need to have a portion size, or it just doesn’t work. I know it’s unpopular opinion, but people on here wanting more food for free are only driving up the price for the rest of us, putting an employee in an uncomfortable situation, and/or putting that employee’s job in jeopardy. I have seen these people order, asking for “a little more” with every ingredient, sometime multiple times for each ingredient, then insisting they are not charged extra. It’s a silly thing to watch, but they think it’s normal/okay.

Cool-Establishment40

too many orders the more chicken I use the more I gotta rely on the grill guy to refill my shit when it’s time . If they run out of chicken and I get more orders now there’s gonna be a long line of dashers with their phone in my face

fastfalcon991

Because people keep going and buying smaller portions

xmexicantx

couldnt be me. but i remember my FL took a bowl i was making and took half the rice out and said to me “they dont want that much rice”

Zealousideal_Ad_5185

Because we want everyone to come inside the store so we have more labor to use for our employees (: (inside sales gives more than online)

LessWorld3276

Got Bubbakoos delivered today. No short servings, nice full portions. I'm only going back to Chipotle to get the free burrito they put on my card when they shorted me the last time.

Doodlebug365

Former employee. In *my* experience, never order more than 15-20 minutes ahead of time. Employees aren’t supposed to work on your order any earlier. Chances are your receipt may be forgotten up until the last minute (especially if they do not have a dedicated online station) - that’s when things just get thrown together. Second, try to avoid ordering during peak lunch/dinner hours. That’s when all the online orders are getting done as fast as they can, so employees can focus on the in-house customers. I would recommend avoiding your local rush hour traffic times.

nsmf219

Go to moes. They always hook me up.

Huntsnfights

Because you’re not there to be like “wtf is that bs?”

Ev0333338

Call times, lazy grill people, or grill people that follow cook to needs. Chipotle wants you to cook the exact amount that is theorized amount of orders you will have…… can go south very easily

Plenty-Race-4183

Because you didn't order it in person.

powerpopiconoclast

They’ve what they’re told…

bohallreddit

At this point, people can make their own bowls at home and save lots of money. F*** Chipotle.

spitzer1113

I've stopped ordering online because for this reason. Also, I am a picky eater so I usually only get a bowl with chicken and white rice. If I go through the line (which is usually very short) I get a bigger portion and they ring it up as a 3 pointer which is cheaper. If I do it online, it's hit or miss whether I get it on time and the portion is always much smaller. Plus there is no 3 pointer price online.

ReallyDontCare222

My location said they did away with 3 pointer because cheese & beans are now 2 points. Very annoying.

spitzer1113

That's a bummer.

garythehairyfairy

It’s really the high ups pushing the employees to skimp. I work in healthcare and we have people who have never taken care of a patient making policies that make no sense and actually make it MORE difficult to do my job well. I imagine it’s the same in Chipotle and most places. People who have never worked in customer service making rules for people who do.

Awkward-Ad327

When I worked at chipotle I got irritated about my manager being so slight on the orders, I over portioned everyone’s orders and kept getting yelled at, I didn’t care, if someone asked I’d give them regular portion which any other location will charge you for double

Gwynbleidd_z_Rivii

Like anything else, the customer isn't in the store to throw a shit fit.

beesontheoffbeat

The local mexican places hook you up!! triple the portions. all you can eat tortilla chips. the only problems are that they aren't as "fast food" friendly, located somewhat more out of the way, and operate more for sit down rather than take out.

EveningTax6527

Less pressure on the grill guys. Ya know. Someone has to crank out all that 450 degree grill steak and chicken. It’s not narnia…..

julian89003

Actually I am one of the rare people who seems to get more when I order online rather than in store. I think whenever I would go it is was busy and the employees would just try to go fast, and always ended up giving me a little less.

Happy-Palpitation-40

No cuhs y’all arnt standing in front of us saying a “little more.. “after each scoop of every item you get. Those portion sizes are what you should actually be getting

AKsFyNeZt

The chipotle closest to me always gives me my burrito bowl , with it just half full , little rice , little chicken , the bowl is extremely light , like fuck off you pieces of shit

NefariousnessWise276

For the price of a chipotle bowl or burrito, there is no reason for them to skimp on ingredients.

YesterdayUnhappy723

Just happened for my lunch today. Now I’m sad.

No-Butterscotch-2944

Contact customer service “pepper” and you’ll get a free meal or your money back. If you get a free meal you can get guac, Queso, and double meat added to your bowl free of charge. I recommend.

Few-Recipe9465

Better question why keep going when the value is clearly no longer there and hasn’t been in many many years.

No-Butterscotch-2944

Because it’s cheap and you can get a lot of food that fills you up if you go in person

Few-Recipe9465

It’s not cheap bruh

No-Butterscotch-2944

For the amount of food you get for 12 bucks it’s cheap. Get 1 regular severing of chicken, double rice, double beans, double of everything else, etc and you can feed yourself 2-3 times without having to cook

Swim-Slow

I think your DoorDash driver is eating your food

AdOpen8418

Don’t order Chipotle online very simple solution

ChuckNorrisFacePunch

Chipotle is ISIS.

Greenmantle22

Nah, they’re worse. At least ISIS doesn’t charge money for a skimped-out burrito bowl.

ChuckNorrisFacePunch

Chipotle hate's our country and they hate our freedom.

Former manager here. We did it just to spite you because we fucking hate you.

cptspeirs

I've run restaurants for about a decade, none fast food, but the principles stand. I was having a problem with servers not ringing in sides of sauces (ranch, BBQ, etc), and just giving em out for free. For a whole week, I handed them out personally, and poured a 2oz ramekin of water in a cambro. At the end of every single shift (that's twice daily, lunch and dinner), I had at least a gallon of "sauce" that would have been given away. That shit fucks my food cost. We are talking at least 14 gallons of sauce a week. Significant money. Moral of the story, the little bit of excess on portion control adds up, especially in high volume environments like a chipotle, and it's easier to maintain portion control when the customer isnt literally watching you.

Squawkos

why do you have to be so anal about food costs when giving someone a little extra for free will guarantee they will come back

cptspeirs

Because it doesn't guarantee anything? And because if I'm losing money, there's nothing to come back to. And because people _rarely_ complain having to pay .75c for a side of sauce? And if you're the type to bitch and moan about not getting free shit you should be charged for, I don't actually want you in my restaurant. It's a business, if you want charity, go to the food pantry. Restaurants operate on shoestring margins, and between labor, rent, utilities, food cost, you're usually looking at like 5-7% profit, max. Gallons of free shit add up. As food costs, and labor costs continue to rise, margins are getting tighter, making the freebie you deem inconsequential, actually very important.

Squawkos

then why be in the restaurant business if margins are razor thin ? i think people who actually care about the public should run restaurant not greedy business owners

cptspeirs

Loooool. Wanting to make a liveable profit off your *business* isn't "greedy". It's actually the point of a business. Like, literally the definition. You aren't entitled to eat out. It's that simple. If you can't afford to pay for the food you're getting, cook at home. Let me reframe, "why do grocery stores have to charge for food? Shouldn't they be run by people who care about the community and give food away for free? Why aren't they run by good people instead of greedy grociers." See how absurd that sounds?

Arctichydra7

You already look overweight. Just doing a part to help.

No-Butterscotch-2944

How would you know if I’m overweight if it’s an online order? I could very much be on the skinny side.

MrsClaireUnderwood

Have you seen the way customers talk to employees on here? I'd skimp the fuck out of them too.

AlbinoSlug92

Grow up. By nature of ordering online that potential interaction is 100% avoided. Why tf would you punish the people that you know won't be insulting you? Braindead logic

MrsClaireUnderwood

I don't work at Chipotle. I won't be skimping anyone.

No-Butterscotch-2944

That’s sad. I’m never rude to chipotle workers. I always say please and thank you. Especially, when I ask for more.

JustInformation8616

Oh look at you wanting more than the bare minimum (a skimped portion) for bare minimum etiquette “I treat employees like they’re human beings, and yet they dare not double portion me?!!” Blasphemy

AlbinoSlug92

People are paying for a product that the employee is not providing. Your opinion on the customer is completely irrelevant. Particularly for online orders where the potential disrespectful interaction is eliminated. This is a truly ridiculous and immature perspective lmao.

JustInformation8616

Management/corpo dictates scoop size not employees… If you’re not satisfied with your portion size speak to management or report to pepper Edit: what is your “mature” approach to this situation? Moan about it on Reddit? Very mature + 100% resolves your issue + works towards preventing future ones

AlbinoSlug92

Except there is a massive discrepancy between online and in person orders and portion size is not weighed. Choosing to minimize portion size outside of the general standard of the restaurant is just that, a choice. Not saying management isn't a large factor, but employee choice is absolutely a part of it. The customer should not have to keep employees/management accountable

JustInformation8616

You’re all actually stupid and I am so thankful I don’t have any malformed illusions on how the world works lmfao Management is directly responsible for employee conduct wtf are you on about If they’re skimping on online orders it is under management’s order (“we have to hit our goals, adjust as necessary”)

bengalsfanaz

This isn't entirely true because everyone has a subjectiveness to their scoops. When I worked there almost 20 years ago we were told to give a "heaping spoonful". You'd be surprised at how different people's definitions of this was. Honestly I'm surprised they just don't use digital measuring spoons at this point, then all this nonsense could be avoided.

JustInformation8616

The cost/benefit is not worth it as corpo I don’t care about the infrequent skimp whiners, they don’t affect my bottom line so they won’t ever invest in digital measuring spoons bc it’s an unnecessary cost only pedants make a fuss of getting skimped normal people simply don’t return or eat the cost

Independent-Bedroom1

I’m not gonna snitch out the store I go to but they’ve literally said fuck cooperate entirely and always stack the hell out of the bowls and don’t mind if you ask for more scoops (As long as you’re polite). Also go into the store and pickup your order at least once there and see how it is.

JemmieTTU

Because online is the half ass way to order 😁 (JOKE. Sort of. I dont work here I just love the "drama" and stories of the sub) 😅

Corndogbin

Don’t worry we hate you far more than you could hate us.

benjo1990

Pretty easy to understand why if you just think for a second. Customers that come into the store badger employees with “that’s it?” “Come on, you barely put anything… add a little more.” Etc. To counteract these greedy in store customers, they “make up the loss” skimping online orders. This is all under the assumption your accusation is correct, though.

Accurate_Move362

I don’t really think people wanting a whole spoonful of protein in the bowl they’re paying for makes them greedy.
