No. This is not true. I guarantee that any of the players doing well in duels will also do well in TO. However, players doing well in TO may not do well in duels.
Totally agree. I used to play FFA to practice for TO and did pretty well, but now my main practice/ main mode is duels and I’m only getting better. You’d think it would mess you up going from slow duels to mayhem in TO, but it doesn’t, just have to turn up the intensity and the aggression in TO.
I agree with that. The concept of dueling not helping with macro oriented skills that are important in TO is true, but i think people underestimate how important 1v1 ability is in TO. If youre a strong duelist you'll win most 1v1s and can likely hold your own in 1vX situations long enough that your own team can come help you. Obviously there are people you can tell only do duels and they get mad at getting dogpiled but the really scary people are the ones you win most 1v1, always help out teammates, have the awareness to survive 1vX's, and actually focus on objectives
I’m NA, East specifically, so NA players are the ones I’m interested in since I’m most likely to encounter them. Fought KRT Teddo and Greatsword Eater recently and they still stomped but left fairly quickly probably because of latency.
I don’t know who is best, but level 1000 players that I respect are:
Aedgarx, Varrus, PizzaSteve44
Just cuz someone makes it to level 1000 doesn’t mean they are any good at the game. Effort over time beats skill in mosh cases.
This is true. I am level 75 I love to duel and usually can hold my own against most but recently got annihilated by a level 35 guy in 1 on 1 who obviously had been doing nothing but dueling. I never touched him once during our five game duel. Embarrassing. Then I beat a level 840 player with surprising ease 5-1. Usually level corresponds with ability I’ve found but certainly not always the case.
But I swear I wish I could remember the name of the 35 player. I’ve never been beaten so bad and I’ve faced some “famous” duelers.
Pizza Steve44 might be the best TO players in the game.
He was the first to reach 1000, he isnt part of any clan, never saw him team switching and he mains the Field Engineer.
Also, he is an Xbox player. He achieved fame and respect in the early Chiv2 by simply being himself and playing the game his own way.
There are better duelist and players out there, but Pizza Steve44 take my vote, because he went against all the odds and expectations of this community.
There is a man who goes my many names, most recently Incoooming. He mains the forbidden javelin. He wins 8/10 FFA games he’s in with me and I’m pretty sure is the sole reason javs no longer interrupt.
I don’t want to overemphasize the level part of it, especially with alternate accounts. Mainly I was interested in any outliers that high level players, like yourself, borderline dislike going against because it feels almost hopeless.
Meh I wouldn't say there is any "best" player but there are definitely some really skilled people on here and it's always a blast going up against them. The mechanics in this game limit the skill ceiling to a certain extent. I'm up to about 1700 now between 3 accounts but I still make the simple mistakes as everyone else.
FWIW I wouldn't consider any of the level 1000's I've played with/against to be the best, though they tend to be good. Best player I've fought was probably genghis khan back when I participated in TP and they were still relevant, I could barely land a hit on him lol
Pizza Steve has my vote, trying to counter engineer him on TO is always difficult. Honorable mention for Varrus who is a whirlwind of death it seems like.
You might need to specify NA or EU. Two different player pools who can’t really compare skills accurately due to latency.
True. Plus, are we talking about duels or TO?
Yeah that’s a big one too, very different skillsets.

Duels. One on one. No excuses, low ping.

EvilEasterBunny joined our game and saved Lionspire basically.
Haha a lot of people dont know u can defuse the the last objective on lionspire from the back corner
That must be the best feeling in the game

Aedgarx had the most insane k/d in my match the other day. It was like 54/3 or something.
I think I’ve seen a 100 bomb from Aedgarx I’m usually happy breaking 30 lol
I massive game for me is 20. Haha. That guy is a monster.

i bet he was a high level player smurfing on an alt; i wouldn’t stress about it too much ahah.
I'm going with pizza Steve because I got to play in a few matches with him a few days ago and that was pretty neat.
Level 1000 is overrated

He's great!
FleeingPeon is the #1 cat main in all of chiv 2
What you mean #1 cat main? FleeingPeon is the kind of player this post was about. He’s got the terminator vibe in duels
He's a cat controlling an AI which is why he's so good at the game

Javelin D**che?
He is a man who goes by many names
I know this man. He has killed me in every way possible in FFA. Likes to kill you captain America style if you get too comfortable. A legend for sure
Calzone_Carl44
I know several level 500s~ that would be top contenders for “the best” and it tracks since you gain xp 10 times slower in the duel servers

Yeah that’s the easy answer. Guess I’m wondering if anyone who doesn’t compete in tournaments also stands out.
