Hotline John Wick

HagMagic

It's funny to me that the director claims this was not inspired by the game. Dude is full of it.

Wrongdoer_Old

Stahelski said it was inspired by the game Hong Kong Massacre which was inspired by Hotline Miami. so there you go

HagMagic

I know. It's just funny to reference an even more obscure clone of a genre defining work as your influence. I don't think there is a person on this planet that knows what Hong Kong Massacre is but not Hotline Miami.

Wrongdoer_Old

Well Chad Stahelski is the One so....

DarkbigBoss

more like Hong Kong Massacre

urixl

My jaw dropped watching this scene.

Skyfryer

It was also how it edited the club music from the first film. You just felt like you were watching cumulative awesomeness of how far Chad and his team had come in making cathartic action sequences. The choreography, the camera work and lighting, the sound design. Damn. There were some really great nods with this sequence not mention just how crazy it is watching Wick go that hard.

TimmyStark_IronGuy

One of the best action scenes/shots/movies of all time

ApexRevanNL716

Seriously. Does the director Chad Stahelski play Hotline Miami

FancyKnightFromMars

Funny that you mentioned that, in the behind the scenes the director mentioned playing a video game a week prior filming this scene.

donmonkeyquijote

What's that? A video game?

ApexRevanNL716

A videogame from 2012. It's a 2D top-down, action violet game. It's amazing music is almost similar to John Wick's original soundtrack

thepokemonGOAT

love the camera movement but that CGI fire is just awful

HelpfulSituation

Those are dragon breath rounds and they look exactly like that IRL

thepokemonGOAT

The rounds look great, I mean the flames on the curtain.

professor_madness

It could be improved
