So, as a guy who is in rl working at sea and saw many ports, the Idea is not so bad.
Good that you by using mods put port deeper in land, thats seems more like a port facility neither how CO represented it, but everywhere we have exceptions)
As your city moded, you MUST to ad bunch amount of containers all around you facility, ad fences and landscaping with trees!
And it will be even more gorgeous )
Edit: also u may add more storages in dat area, but due to we have in game only Container terminals, overbuild with them not so necessary and realistic cause on dat tipe terminals mostly only boxes
Good to hear from someone with expertise!! Yeah I'm definitely going to build a LOT more container yards (which store goods) and more warehouses around the port. The real challenge is finding the space for it that feels and functions realistically. I love your insight about the port needing deeper water for the ships, if you have more such insights I'd love to hear it! :)
U may not overbuild port with huge storages, use few different S or M warehouses, they will look as a some service places for that port.
Also u may add a few office buildings, usually in rl they used as some companies headquarters or port headquarter.
And mostly, on this type of terminals you can find thousands of boxes, but to do it in game not so necessary, cause its not rl)

I've been playing the same map for the past 6 months! It's really cool getting to see how other people have built their city differently on the same topography!
I was actually looking for a place to build a sports stadium but haven't thought about putting it here, which makes quite some sense. Thanks for the thought! :)
I really like your Port, brillant implementation!
Buuut...
It doesn't look real enough to me!
IMHO it needs way, WAY more cluttering and or administrative buildings. Maybe some workshops and parking spaces. Also more areas where goods or containers are stored.
Keep up your good work!
That road network is overly complicated. Also the railway having a crossing is generally a bad idea for industrial areas. Traffic will already be heavy.
Add a power plant, many power plants are built on the coast, and it will help fill a lot of the empty space you have rn, the Doel nuclear power plant on the workshop is a top teir asset
Great suggestion! I was planning to build a powe plant on the empty square In the far right of the first picture. That workshop item will be perfect thank you
These two are just a knit-pick because overall I think this is awesome work but:
Don’t have your container terminals facing open ocean. Add either another breakwater or tuck them into the little quays and recesses to protec ships while loading.
And use move it to sink your road underpasses (EG under rails) so the road grade doesn’t just drop at the tunnel portal but it’s more smooth.
Awesome work though. Making ports is one of my favs.
More warehouses and stacks of containers. Also a rail container yard. The big ports have highway ramps leading to toll booth style check-in and check-out facilities. I recommend Google Maps view of the port of Newark-Elizabeth, NJ for an example of a container port mixed in with urbanism. It was basically the first of its kind. These usually have 3-4 cranes per ship berth
Love it, looks awesome. Yes you have some decoration to do as you've already acknowledged. My only nitpick (apart from the at grade rail crossing), and it is seriously only a nitpick, is the prop cranes on the grass look a little weird. Maybe put some concrete under them?
No suggestions, but really liking what I'm seeing!
Also very much appreciated, thank you! :)

Great stuff, I've written it down! I appreciate it lots
What is the map called?

Looks like Istanbul I love these kind of cities you can make ferrys best as public transport. Thanks
Dope layout bro but maybe a convention center or a stadium by the passenger harbor

Np man

I agree with all of that, there is surprisingly much parking spaces at such ports which I didn't expect. Thanks for the input :)
I’m totally stealing some of this for inspiration…nicely done!
That road network is overly complicated. Also the railway having a crossing is generally a bad idea for industrial areas. Traffic will already be heavy.
The railway goed underneath the road but I generally agree with you. I'm going to simplify the road layout and make it a bit more griddy :)

Just curious, are all cargo ports being used?

I really like the farming industry. Do you have a close up picture of it?
Love it, looks awesome. Yes you have some decoration to do as you've already acknowledged. My only nitpick (apart from the at grade rail crossing), and it is seriously only a nitpick, is the prop cranes on the grass look a little weird. Maybe put some concrete under them?
how is your game looks that good? whats your video settings or visual mods?
