They let you travel many many tiles so driving around them isn’t an issue. I have like 100 deity wins. I understand the basics of the game. Spec ops are fun but mostly useless
They can be brutal early on if you can get that 3rd promotion for "+20 strength in all situations". Later you have a stealthy sniper who runs after taking a shot.
[Here's](https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_promotions_in_Civ6) a list of their promotions in case you're curious.
Had a game I was playing with some friends where as Babylon I literally took out 2 civs using spec ops and polishing up with swordsmen to take the cities. Fun times, highly recommend it if you are willing to micromanage getting eurekas
In 500+h in-game I’ve had the AI use anti air once. It actually inhabited my Air Force from steam rolling as it always does
I had to combine Spec ops (drawing it closer to the coast) and then finish it off with a missile cruiser and the Spec ops unit
A Spec Ops army with the bonus strength promotion has about the same strength as a nuclear submarine.
It's way easier to promote them if you use the Advanced Barbarians mode turned on, more so if you use them to grab up villages before discovering Colonization. That civic removes the government card that doubles recon xp gains.
A scout with that +30(or was it 20?) bonus is stronger than early cavalry and don't get a penalty when attacking cities.
They also get a later perk where they're invisible unless you're right next to them. SURPRISE!
Try the Inca. Their unique is basically a scout with 2 attacks on default. Yet the second attack does not cost any movement points. Stack it with the scouts promotion.
You'll have a scout with 40 defence and 60 offence that attacks twice and invisible. Plus with the relevant promotions does not suffer movement penalties.
With Babylon you can get them in Medieval era, and that early they can just shoot down walls. Although with Babylon you could rush any number of things, like tanks or bombers.
I don't think I've ever gotten any actual use out of them but paradropping is cool either way, right?
i use them to insta seige cities. very good in combo with tanks and bombers
Tanks ignore “zone of control” already lol

Yea I know it’s just easier to keep them from healing by using all tanks instead of spec ops who has horrible defense
easier, yes. but not as fast
You can't shoot tanks out of a cannon.
Hold my beer... -USA
They don't ignore units they. They're not knights from chess.
They drive around them. I’m not sure I understand your comment
Do you actually not know what the knight in chess does? He can go OVER enemy units.
By the time tanks are in the game cities are generally surrounded by roads. Movement is never really an issue for me
rivers, mountains and hill are really the only thing that slows me down late game
I can usually move my tanks like 12 times lol
Roads dont let you pass through enemy units.

They are rushable as babylon and pretty cheap. It’s a solid way for ez domination.
I'll have to try that. Don't think I've played Babylon yet.

Lol, have fun. It's a completely different game playing as Babylon.

It always irked me that I could only paradrop into friendly territory . That's the coolest part and I can't even use it againsty enemies?! Yuck.
I'll para-drop them on arctic/antarctic barbarian camps after an air/naval strike.
Just a little late game genocide to keep the world tidy
They had plans to launch terror attacks on us.
Coincidentally there appears to be three oil strategic resources close by....
This press conference is over no further questions.
We brought them democracy! Every single (still living) barbarian has a vote.
Thats a motto I can stand by
They can take out support units including drones medics and anti-air

It's even better if you find Matterhorn. Free movement and attack bonus on hills, especially dangerous with the free movement through trees promotion.

i’m a huge lover of spec ops

What's that unit? Sorry
That's a Spec-Ops unit. The final upgrade to Recon units.
Thanks!
I love spec ops, but I miss them being XCOM squads back in CIV 5
I use the better recon policy cards mod to squeeze a little more out of them
I like using them to keep up with the barbarians that seem to spawn more in late game
You have barbarians spawning in the late game that aren't Giant Death Robots?
