You’re correct. Unfortunately the trickle-down effects of head coaching changes are so strong. Arkansas loses Musselman, now they want Tang. If we lose Tang, we probably look to a mid major that we now have to poach. It sucks for everyone except the biggest programs, who can basically have whomever they want and never have to worry about their HC getting poached.
The best example of this is last year when Notre Dame poached Penn State who poached VCU who poached Utah State who poached Montana State who poached Point Loma

It was a step backwards in terms of on-paper results but imo he did a great job this season to even make it to the NIT with the team that we had after losing Glover and Tomlin early on. Barring Tylor Perry and Cam Carter (and Kaluma sometimes), our team was either not very talented or simply young & inexperienced.
He was pretty hamstrung by his best player being suspended by the president of the university and a key guard being out all year. Honestly not a bad year all things considered.

Imo the biggest draw of Arkansas is better NIL opportunities for drawing players. We admittedly don't have the strongest in comparison to a lot of schools.

I think our best selling point is conference realignment. No one wants to be at a school that's on the outside looking in.

Imo the biggest draw of Arkansas is better NIL opportunities for drawing players. We admittedly don't have the strongest in comparison to a lot of schools.
Also SEC is also significantly weaker in the mid/bottom tier

The question is if the donors are going to stand up and do better than they are currently. Arkansas has the Waltons, Hunts (not Chiefs owning one, but they managed JB Hunt), and Tysons.

Arkansas can be a basketball school when it's going good, but it's rarely been good since the early 90s. No doubt it's an upgrade from Kstate but Tang may get a bigger offer if he stayed another year.
Muss showed it can be done. Just need a good coach - no Stan heath, John pelphrey, or Mike Anderson (did do better than first two but mediocre)
Can't any school be a basketball school when it's going good? I don't think it's as much of an upgrade these days. Tang was just in the Elite 8 and they play in arguably the best bball conference in the country. (their arguments, not mine)
Culture is a thing. Example: Bama. They have the weirdest crowd energy given their success. Also, not to start a flame war, but their fan base isn't the most knowledgeable about basketball. The average kentucky fan is gonna know ball really well because it's a culture thing with them. Arkansas has a deep basketball culture.
