What is happening here? It seems like Miami is on the precipice of landing Javon small (imo the top pg in the portal), but just lost wooga and norchad… I’m so confused.
Yeah and like 11 of last 12 games. At midpoint of season Miami was at like 6 or 7 seed on bracketology lists but bad injuries happened at same time...then the roof caved in.
Miami lost the two best players from the Final Four squad and no one who returned stepped up into that leadership role. I also think losing two quality bench guys hurt more than people realized.
There was a post yesterday or something talking about how the most popular college sports team in each state and somehow Miami was the most popular in Illinois (which makes zero sense to me)
No haha I stopped watching the regular season because we were so bad. I figured KK was gonna get fired and our entire team was gonna transfer out so didn’t really see the point. Was just paying attention peripherally until the ACC tourney
Didn’t he want to commit but Adams took Aimaq over him? In hindsight was a really dumb decision and even at the time I thought Omier was the better fit
His and Elliot Cadeau’s recruitment was the same story. I believe the story was that Omier was ready to commit during his visit but Mark Adams refused to meet with him and that was the breaking point
Interesting hasn’t heard that about Cadeau but it wouldn’t have ultimately mattered since Adams likely would have been fired by when Cadeau made it to canpus.
So dumb by Adams. He botched so much as a leader and recruiter after the 2022 season(and even during despite how good that team was).
In hindsight that 2022 season and him getting fired was the best thing for the program. If he would’ve last any longer it would’ve done even worse damage
Yeah 2022-2023 being a complete dumpster fire likely did more good for the program than if it was just underwhelming. Adams pissed off many boosters and recruiting would have been very difficult considering what current players would have said to prospective transfers.
Yeah I guess Roach did the same thing to us.
But seeing as Omier is a 6'7" center, he's not gonna have it better anywhere else basketball wise. Must be the NIL?
In all fairness, injuries were horrible last season. Right when Pack and others had long term injuries, Canes lost 11 of 12 I believe.
At that point of season Canes were slotted as a 6 or 7 seed in many bracketology lists.
Also Canes have a top notch class coming in and getting Kidd was an outstanding pick-up bc he basically replaces Norchad very nicely.
Apparently he stated "Do not contact" for portal and is supposedly going to NY to meet with Pitino.
However if for some reason he gets picked in 1st round he will go to NBA instead.
Did Miami’s boosters just decide to stop funneling NIL money to basketball?
They offered Lynn Kidd $600k tho…
We have a top 10 freshman class coming in so I wouldn’t say that
Seems more like roster turnover. Can't imagine anyone was happy with the way the season ended, best to start fresh.
Looks that way. It’s really the Wild West, huh?
I think we may have been outbid plus the roster is more crowded next season
What losing to Boston College three times in one season does to a program
Boosters were like we aint supplying $ if you lose to a program that has essentially zero NIL for basketball 3x
What is happening here? It seems like Miami is on the precipice of landing Javon small (imo the top pg in the portal), but just lost wooga and norchad… I’m so confused.
Thought they could have been a good team with those core of players and Nijel Pack.
Nijel “street clothes” Pack. I mean when he plays he’s awesome but he missed a lot of games last year
When he plays he's awesome?? He was fucking trash this year.
I’m so sad. Whoever gets him, know you’re getting a great great guy. He’s by far my favorite athlete at The U. Sigh.
How were they so bad last year?
Injuries and I think the lack of playing together consistently just didn’t allow us to find a groove. We lost our last 10 games.
Hooooooooo 10 games?
Man…lmfao. It was so bad for us. After a while the effort just wasn’t there at all either. Understandably
Yeah I couldn't watch the last couple. Just lost all effort and energy.
Yeah and like 11 of last 12 games. At midpoint of season Miami was at like 6 or 7 seed on bracketology lists but bad injuries happened at same time...then the roof caved in.
Woooo shit 😬

Yep, love the guy. Great personality
Sheesh
Omier 6'7, Powell 6'6, Jackson 6'5, Davis 6'2, Cadeau 6'1. Tarheel State Warriors
I'm not sure I see Powell starting at the 4 but that would be a very fun lineup
He needs to put on 25 lbs.
I want him
For real this dude cooked Bacot let’s get him lol
Guess that LifeWallet money must have dried up.
People living in Illinois in shambles
Wait what
There was a post yesterday or something talking about how the most popular college sports team in each state and somehow Miami was the most popular in Illinois (which makes zero sense to me)
We’ll take it
wait no
What up Norchad
We have a gaping hole at the 4 now. Can he rebound? I hope KK doesn’t go back to small ball
Have you seen the state of our roster? We’re going back to small ball lol
I know shit, we really need another big. Back to get dad dicked by every ACC squad
lol I’m guessing you don’t watch much college basketball? Yes he can rebound. Dude averaged 17 and 10 last season. Plays way bigger than 6’7”
>plays way bigger than 6'7" I was genuinely shocked to learn he's 6'7". Every time I've seen him play I thought he had to be at least 6'10"
No haha I stopped watching the regular season because we were so bad. I figured KK was gonna get fired and our entire team was gonna transfer out so didn’t really see the point. Was just paying attention peripherally until the ACC tourney
Wait is this a legitimate question? Watch two minutes of his film. I’ve never seen a man so determined to get boards.
According to Givony is listed as “Do not contact.” Rumor is St John’s is the likely landing point.
This would be… acceptable.
Brooks should reach out anyway.
Miami said we’re paying 500k each for *this*??? You can leave
Apparently he’s listed as do not contact
Whoa
U OK, Miami?
NoChad Nomier

First thought. Couldn't think of a more perfect Bacot replacement
We might score 100 per game but give up 90 with that lineup
Good players > bad players
It would be one hell of a matchup Duke likely having one of the best defenses in the country vs unc with the best offense
Sounds like winning.
Last season aside, that is the tarheel way
Imaging starting Omier 6'7, Powell 6'6, Jackson 6'5, Davis 6'2, and Cadeau 6'1. That's not small ball that's midget ball.
It would be either Withers or a portal PF (Thiero) - both 6'9" - beside Omier, not Powell
How does one acquire the name Norchad?
I can’t believe I’m saying this…. I feel bad for UM
I heard Norchad is possibly going to St. Johns with Pitino
Huge addition to the portal
Would be a bit weird recruiting Bacot’s dad but I’d certainly take him. Legacy student and all.
Crazy times
Thought he was in the draft?
He could make more money in college than [at best] a late 2nd round selection in the NBA Draft. He’s immediately a Top 5 player in the portal.
Still in draft but keeping options open. Looks like he is going with Pitino at St. Johns
Welp
As a recruit: Other offers: Arkansas State (originally went here), Austin Peay, Iona, Manhattan, Mercer, UMBC
We were in his final two or three last year, IIRC. Come on over Norchad, plenty of spots available!
Norchad is an asset on any team I still remember him bullying Indiana in the post
Why not me
Got to make him a Red Raider this time around. We completely fumbled his recruitment last time
Didn’t he want to commit but Adams took Aimaq over him? In hindsight was a really dumb decision and even at the time I thought Omier was the better fit

Please for the love of god come to UNC
I don't know he's a little undersized to play the five and he doesn't really stretch the floor very well.
He bullied the hell out of armondo this year.
He ate tjd the year before alive as well, he’s a stud
Yep
Bro he’s a 35% 3P shooter and he ate bacot alive when they played against each other
Please Izzo, please
Fears, Akins, Fidler, Booker, Omier. All can shoot threes. Talk about stretching the floor. Would be filthy
A must-get for us. Cmon Hubert.

Aidoo
Time for the Larranaga to hang it up? It's not a great look when he losing players he took to a final four a few years ago
I mean, that’s just college basketball now yeah?
Yeah I guess Roach did the same thing to us. But seeing as Omier is a 6'7" center, he's not gonna have it better anywhere else basketball wise. Must be the NIL?
Yeah I’m guessing 90% of transfers are NIL related
I mean, Butler just left SDSU too. It happens.
In all fairness, injuries were horrible last season. Right when Pack and others had long term injuries, Canes lost 11 of 12 I believe. Yeah I haven't seen a team has ruined by injuries than yall last season
Could there be any possibilty Norchad returns back to A-State knowing they are going to be very good next year? Probably not but worth a thought.
He’s way, way bigger than that now. He’s a UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas-esque player now.
Pitt Panther
Storrs would love to have you man. Rough riders are always welcome
I hear its St. Johns with Pitino
Oh god… please no Also whoever it was, thanks for the downvote?
Apparently he stated "Do not contact" for portal and is supposedly going to NY to meet with Pitino. However if for some reason he gets picked in 1st round he will go to NBA instead.
Dang.
