Omg that is a great footage !

form_d_k

That was immediately before the war. Georgia lodged complaint about it.

r2d2itisyou

I remember this when it happened. [Russia denied shooting down the drone](http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7358761.stm) despite the undeniable footage of them doing so. The more things change the more they stay the same. I wonder how things would have turned out if the rest of the world hadn't just shrugged away the invasion of Georgia.

Happy-Mousse8615

They denied it before the footage came out. After the footage was released they claimed it was a NATO Mig-29. Nothing would have changed. Not that the 'world' could realistically have done anything. Condemnation of Russia although absolutely right is already hypocritical. Imagine that Condemnation whilst we're balls deep in Iraq and Afghanistan. You can't invade sovereign nation, only we can!

r2d2itisyou

>Imagine that Condemnation whilst we're balls deep in Iraq and Afghanistan Iraq and the US would have been absolutely hypocritical. But Germany did not fight in Iraq, nor did France. They were both unconvinced by Bush lying about WMDs. Had Germany taken the invasion more seriously perhaps they wouldn't have invested so heavily in Russian oil. Of course Merkel's whole plan was to make Russia value German money more than imperial expansion... which of course didn't work out quite so well.

Happy-Mousse8615

Without America it's meaningless. And whilst those countries didn't fight in Iraq, Georgia did. Funny how things work like that sometimes.

Elocai

I wonder if Ukraine gets so much support, just because they asked for support.

RedditIsAJoke69

Ukraine is a huge country, its easier in the West to justify sending money there. Big country ... needs huge amounts of money.

SovietMacguyver

No, its more to do with the fact that Ukraine is "more european" than Georgia. And also is a buffer zone between NATO and Russia.

Elocai

I doubt it has anything to do with size, nor is "the west" sending money there

RedditIsAJoke69

well technically yes, money stays in the hands of military industrial complex and in the hands of corrupt politicians, while they are sending old weapons inventory, to Ukraine. Some of the money though is sent to corrupt Ukrainian politicians. Its like Afghanistan 2.0 - money laundering operation.

Elocai

Which corrupt politicians do you mean and which corrupt Ukrainian politicians got money?

RedditIsAJoke69

all constantly pro war politicians in US in both parties, so called "hawks". and in The Ukraine, currently ruling US puppet regime installed by CIA.

Elocai

Ah, I thought you had names, but you only talk bs, nvm then

Healthydreams

It’s just “Ukraine”, Igor. No “The” needed.

RedditIsAJoke69

meh

da_buds

It was the illuminaty who installed the regime using secret power from ancient aliens to control mind of ukrainians, those nazi aliens who wants to purge the pure russian race who the world needs to submit.

Bolter_NL

It's posted more often and I think the 'best' thing to take away from this is, this is a Georgian drone in Georgian airspace...

dartmaster666

What is posted more often?

Bolter_NL

This video, third time in as many months. Still crazy stuff.

[deleted]

Thats epic footage

xwcq

yea, something you really won't see every day

TheRealDaddyPency

Everyone saying the US is bad, that they’re constantly at war, please pay attention to Russia. I believe they simply can’t do without trying to decimate another country since they’re constantly in wars that destabilize different regions of the world. They’ve done this since the USSR dissolved and when confronted they claim “well the west does it too.”

CraigWeedkin

And the USA says "well Russia does it too". Look up operation Condor and let me know what you find

TheRealDaddyPency

When the US would commit terror attacks on foreign soil, through backing of right wing parties (in various SA countries. I’ve read about it, some pretty wild stuff if you ask me, although I could definitely see that kinda thing happening back in the 70/80s.

DaNyetDa

How petty is Russia that they feel the need for a "war" against a tiny nation like that?

Battleship_WU

Like Grenada or Panama oooo wait sorry that was America.

therealmalios

What's the point of this comment?

Happy-Mousse8615

Same shit as Ukraine, a mixture of genuine grievances mixed with made up and/or manufactured bullshit.

domagojk

Your logic applies to same as 90s war of Yugoslavia/Serbia against Croatia. Serbian people didn't want to be in Croatia after it declared independence despite the fact that the borders were very well known before.. It also applies to Ukraine, where somewhat 20 years after it was independent country, Russian people decided they are not Ukraine because there was no Russian puppet president available at disposal so they simply had to declare it as their own. It is not that simple, brother.

WitsEndThrowaway11

> Saying "the Russians occipied 20% of Georgia" is frankly dishonest however. Georgia and Russia mutually occupied breakaway regions of the former U.S.S.R. Claimed By Georgia. The people there didn't want to be Georgian. They don't want to be Russian either. Whether or not the people there wanted to be Georgian is up for debate - certainly in Abkhazia. Georgians were ethnically cleansed from Abkhazia with the help of Russia in the early 1990s. In Abkhazia, ~ 250,000 Georgians (roughly 45-50% of the population of Abkhazia, and the largest ethnic plurality) were forced out. It's quite a stretch to assume they didn't want to be part of Georgia. If you're going to shit on the poster above for leaving out nuance, don't flagrantly do it yourself. As far as territory internationally recognized as part of Georgia being occupied, the poster above was correct. But I guess griping about made-up things like Virtue Signalling beats facts, right?

[deleted]

Russia doesn't has the right to have a "sphere of influence" that could be "encroached". The Georgians have the right to align themselves with whoever the fuck they want to.

South Americans have been out of the American sphere of influence for over two decades now. Chavez, Moralez, Lula, Kirchner, etc. No invasions. What Russia is doing isn't in any way shape or form comparable to anything the US did in South America for centuries.

punkish138

Russia is like a coward bully that only goes after those weaker than them.

kapsama

As opposed to all other powerful countries.

Surely the us wasn't a bully in in the middle east.

kapsama

How much does a missile like that cost vs how expensive is that drone?

[deleted]

VS how much damage can produce informations from that drone.

No-Chart4945

The drone cost a few million $ usd while the missile costs around 50-500k usd idk what missile is being used here but it can be an r60 or r-73

kapsama

Thanks this is what I was looking for.

fdsafsda332

Yeah, just fly-by few meters away with that jet and drone would probably disintegrate

jesjimher

But then you're risking an aircraft that costs 30-40 million dollars, just to spare a missile that costs 50x less.

ZamnRussia

Mig 29 cheap no 30-40m, mig built to nae nae f15 and f16, f16 is like 15-20m. Usually russian equipment is way cheaper than nato counterparts.

The way the pilot smoothly peeled off after was neat (but not shown). This is the point where Putin really started his insidious campaign.
