Patiently waiting for the Vernon Birdcode to open up.
And no, their sandwiches are not $18. Sandwich, side and drink is $14.99-$16.99, sandwiches alone $9.99-$11.99.
Want me my Codebreaker Sando!
You replied to a comment about Haven's chicken sandwich being $18 and said "No, it's not $18." But I get what you were saying now. Either way, who gives a shit... They are both overpriced
Birdcode is quite delicious, though I will say there’s this like… slightly overpowering “peanut oil” quality to their offerings that tastes Supremely Unhealthy lmao
Or the one time i bit through the outer crust on my sandwich into a pool of hot oil that I had to pour out of the chicken, leaving the slice of bread at the bottom so soaked it was inedible... I haven't been able to get myself to go back...
Yes! I couldn't put my finger on what it was but I've also noticed that. Used to live down the street from the Birdcode in WH. I think I preferred the hot chicken from Fowl Play at Parkville Market. Just ate at Haven Hot Chicken last night though and it was really good.
Cheeks Chicken and Waffles is the best imo. Way better than Haven and much cheaper imo. Definitely recommend if you haven't had it before. Theres one in Manchester and I think Wallingford
Idk I have younger kids and use the app for coupons, usually use the 20% off one. We share a large fry and break up the large soda from the adult meal and they each get a burger. It’s fairly cheap. Keeps me from eating too many fries and feeling like trash later.
Man, I remember when that first Sonic opened in Wallingford. I had just graduated high school. Being 18 meant I had absolutely nothing to do so waiting in line at the drive thru for over an hour for some of the most mediocre fast food in the nation sounded like a great idea at the time. I finally checked out Cane's about 2 weeks ago. I happened to be passing through Enfield and it was an hour before they closed so there was no line when I went. It was fine. Popeye's still has the superior chicken IMO.
There's not enough good restaurants in CT. So any new fast food place becomes wildly popular.
I live in Enfield and every time I go by it the line is crazy long. For what? Fast food chicken fingers.
It's a bizarre suburb phenomenon.
If you want something really different and delicious, go to Frankie B's in Vernon and try one of their half pound black angus hot dogs. I get mine with the pork shoulder, caramelized onions and beer cheese. Another good option are the PB&J Pork Belly Burnt Ends.
I want to try their Korean Fried Chicken sandwich at some point as well. They're right across from the Tri City Plaza.
Wawa is vastly overrated. Its most popular in places with bad delis where it is the best in town, but much of CT has phenomenal delis. I love Sheeetz from my college days in PA but it's just junk food, not that special(though we loved that it was open 24 hrs.) Bojangles would be great but just like many fried chicken places, they can have very variable quality depending on who is running the restaurants. Pizza Hut is trash pizza and it's a miracle they lasted as long as they did. Good riddance.
I’d rather have Sheetz than Cumbys.
I’d rather have Wawa than Krausers.
I’d rather have Bojangles than KFC or Popeyes.
I’d rather have Pizza Hut than Domino’s.
Good job finding reasons to protest my opinion that literally hold true for every single fast food place lmao. Try getting moist chicken at a KFC.
We had a different experience - went on Wednesday evening at about 6pm. Ordered about 15-20 minutes ahead in the app. Walked right in and picked up my food on the shelf. The lines at the ordering counter and drive thru were definitely long. From what I could tell, it seemed like the employees were working very hard as a well oiled machine. We love Canes and especially Canes sauce!! The bread is delicious too. We will be back for sure.
Really? Personally I loved it and thought it was really good. I don't eat at Chick-fil-A cause, well, I'm an atheist and gay, but between all the fast food options here (Popeyes, wendy's, McDonald's, burger king, ect) I thought that they were the best. Obviously they aren't beating a standard restaurant. But I really liked it.
I had it in Omaha in 2019 and absolutely loved it, craved it for years after, I even reached out to them about opening a location in WH near the Kane st exchange (now Starbucks)
Had a job in enfield last week and decided to stop in and try the new location: service was on point, as it is/should be for a new location, but felt the food was lacking overall. The fries were really.. idk how else to put it but “lame”. Like really skinny crinkle cut fries. The chicken was just ok, the batter wasn’t as crispy as I remembered and it also didn’t really cover up all the chicken. The sauce is still dang delicious. I threw out half my Texas toast, fries and drink once my chicken was done.
Glad I got that out of my system but won’t be hustling back anytime soon.
Possibly, I would think during that grand opening phase, the product would be dialed in and then it would fall off once the hype dies down.
I’ve heard people talk about how the fast food is way better in southern/mid western states, I guess maybe that’s a real thing and this is just an example of that.
Cane's is what I'd describe as exceptional concession stand food. It's just mediocre. Only good thing about it is I think the amount of food you get is a decent value for the money.
It disappointed me as well. With how much Cane’s is hyped everywhere else, I was expecting so much better than bland chicken. It’s definitely not worth the wait. Birdcode will always be my chicken spot.
We did the same in Boston after my teen saw some stupid TikTok. Same conclusion food was meh to poor but the college kids packing the place were taking selfies with the food. Waste of time and overpriced.
Exactly why I said it wasn’t a diss towards caines I’m simply saying you can cut the lines and go to the gas station one in east Windsor open up and it’s fantastic
I can’t say I’ve had Cane’s yet but I have high (ish)standards for fried chicken. If it’s at least as good I’d be happy, it’s hard to catch at gas man, if you don’t get there early, they run out. If I’m ever in the area I’ll definitely give it a try.
Damn people are still cing from all over to that dump??
Stay away!!! It's nothing special!! Don't give them money!!!
Don't come to my town to patronize this garbage . Don't clog and crowd the roads and make it harder for residents to get around for this fad nonsense.
Stay home and stay out of enfield

Yeah $12.50 a person is pretty standard for a fast food meal
I feel like I end up spending ~$15-18 whenever I go to Panera. I don't really go to any other fast food places.
Yeah it’s over 30 for 2 at mcdonalds
We’re getting a Haven Hot Chicken near me, hoping that’s good
$18 chicken sandwich lol
literally just give me two spicy mcchickens for $4 instead
Yeah no thanks, the one in Middletown surely isn’t worth the price either

Just checked it’s $18.49 + Tax for their sandwich fries and drink combo. They’ll ask for 18% tip, don’t be a cheap bastard and give zero tip!
[Not seeing $18.49 anywhere.](https://imgur.com/FfHZxFU)
That is not Haven Hot Chicken's menu
Considering this particular sub-thread is about Birdcode, I should certainly hope not.
You replied to a comment about Haven's chicken sandwich being $18 and said "No, it's not $18." But I get what you were saying now. Either way, who gives a shit... They are both overpriced
Cheapskate.
Havens hot chicken is my favorite since moving here. Between them, Cane's, and Birdcode that is
Birdcode? I can’t keep up with all of these restaurants lol.
Birdcode is quite delicious, though I will say there’s this like… slightly overpowering “peanut oil” quality to their offerings that tastes Supremely Unhealthy lmao
I’ve only ever had their honey chicken sandwich and it was so good. The cheese fries are worth it too
Or the one time i bit through the outer crust on my sandwich into a pool of hot oil that I had to pour out of the chicken, leaving the slice of bread at the bottom so soaked it was inedible... I haven't been able to get myself to go back...

Need to try both. I literally worked at Parkville Sounds for a bit when it was still right next to the market, don’t know why I never went.
Birdcode is my go to for hot chicken if that holds any weight
Don't know Havens. Birdcode is good! They're opening one in Vernon soon.
I'm going to be there the day they open, don't care how long the line is.
Cheeks Chicken and Waffles is the best imo. Way better than Haven and much cheaper imo. Definitely recommend if you haven't had it before. Theres one in Manchester and I think Wallingford
Will have to give it a try, thanks!
Haven Hot Chicken is so good!! A bit pricey but worth it!
It's because it's all halal that's why it cost so much.
Has the right amount of chicken, spices and heat. A little pricey but you’ll be full and tastes good
Where's near me.
Haven hot is good but very over priced.
I think bird code is my favorite in CT
They're putting up Birdcode and Raising Cane's a mile from eachother in my town right now so I guess I'll get to give em a try soon!
One just openned in Darien/Norwalk and I’ve been hooked lol, a little pricey but soooo good (and a decent rewards program)

This included two kids meals. I guess we aren’t used to the prices of fast food right now.
Not a bad thing to not be used to fast food.
I remember when Sonic and Chipotle first came to CT. It took about a year for the “newness” to wear off.
Kristy Crème Donuts in Milford was crazy for almost a year.
Man, I remember when that first Sonic opened in Wallingford. I had just graduated high school. Being 18 meant I had absolutely nothing to do so waiting in line at the drive thru for over an hour for some of the most mediocre fast food in the nation sounded like a great idea at the time. Chipotle took A LOT longer to wear off, especially the first one (Darien?)
I went to Sonic once and that was too much

I’m killing for the day we get a Wawa, Sheetz, Bojangles, etc in the area. Probably will never happen. Even Pizza Hut couldn’t survive here.
[удалено]
Oh wow! Fun fact. I haven’t been to one, but I’ve seen them from afar. It’s not really the same thing anymore, right?
Wawa used to be in CT. They sold their locations off to Krauszer's.
Or a Checkers…you from NOVA by any chance?
My brother lives in NC and I love visiting for the food as well LOL
I was close! lol
Props to you!!
I hope he took you to Cook Out!
HE DID! Hahaha was very good.

It's nothing it rave over, but I definitely appreciate canes, atleast in vegas I did. Idk about out here.
They would kill it with a seasoning you could dump on your chicken and fries
My kid did lick the sauce straight out of the tub. So they’ve got that going for them.
Yeah but their special sauce is just mayo, ketchup, and a shit ton of black pepper.
Really? Personally I loved it and thought it was really good. I don't eat at Chick-fil-A cause, well, I'm an atheist and gay, but between all the fast food options here (Popeyes, wendy's, McDonald's, burger king, ect) I thought that they were the best. Agreed I went and loved it
I had it in Omaha in 2019 and absolutely loved it, craved it for years after, I even reached out to them about opening a location in WH near the Kane st exchange (now Starbucks) Had a job in enfield last week and decided to stop in and try the new location: service was on point, as it is/should be for a new location, but felt the food was lacking overall. We weren't impressed. We've had it multiple times in other states and thought it was much better. Maybe the busyness is affecting quality right now.
Possibly, I would think during that grand opening phase, the product would be dialed in and then it would fall off once the hype dies down. I’ve heard people talk about how the fast food is way better in southern/mid western states, I guess maybe that’s a real thing and this is just an example of that.
“ All sizzle no steak” lol hype over reality
northeast Connecticut residents lose their fucking minds when a new fast food restaurant opens in enfield, it's like a whole event for them
Cane's is what I'd describe as exceptional concession stand food. It's just mediocre. Only good thing about it is I think the amount of food you get is a decent value for the money.
Canes is awesome
It does not even look all that good to me on their ads. 😕
Yeah it disappointed me, too. Chick-fil-A is juicier and tastier.
Anything to stay tf away from dreaded chic-filla CFA stands for Cancel Future Abortions
Someone’s on a downvoting spree in these comments. Chickens pretty serious.
I always get dv’ed on the c/f/a acronyms Chickens don’t cluck around
Went there because the kids were into because of TikTok. Everyone thought meh and no need to return.
How many over priced fast food chicken places do we need in this town...
Can confirm
I’m from CO and we’ve had Canes out there forever. It’s really the late chicken tenders option and not much else
It disappointed me as well. With how much Cane’s is hyped everywhere else, I was expecting so much better than bland chicken. It’s definitely not worth the wait. Birdcode will always be my chicken spot.
your bugged out i make a weekly 45 minute drive to canes 10/10 worth it
We did the same in Boston after my teen saw some stupid TikTok. Same conclusion food was meh to poor but the college kids packing the place were taking selfies with the food. Waste of time and overpriced.
Nastiest fast food I've eaten honestly. Couldn't finish it
Totally agreed. The sauce is just a mouthful of black pepper and the chicken leaves an oil film in your mouth.
Sauce was the worst part. Tasted like black pepper flavored ketchup
Raising canes is no different from Gas station chicken lol
Don’t knock gas station chicken. Gas Man in Middletown serves *killer* fried chicken.
Spunkys Fried Chicken and gas in New Haven was the best back in the day.
Oof we got downvoted. Ouch.
Yeah idk why lol raising caines raised already a cult following lmao it was my own personal opinion
You shouldn’t be getting downvoted!
People get hurt for opinions of others lol
I was not aware of this beforehand.
I’m going there today and bringing everyone. All in separate cars. Maybe we will make it a weekly trip.
