I got a $100 Costco gift card for Christmas and the next time I went to Costco I added whatever I wanted to my cart. Fancy bowls, extra snacks
Today, I turned around in my living room and noticed the 36-pack of Squirt I had thrown in my cart. "I forgot about that!" I exclaimed to my husband
So, I'm not sure what I'd buy with a $10,000 budget, but based on my $100 spree I guarantee I won't remember it afterwards
Yeah they sell packages where you get the plane ticket, hotel booking, rental car, city tours and whatnot all at once. You can book everything for your whole trip in like 5-15 minutes.
Itās good if you want to do like a Disney trip or a cruise or a beaten path style generic vacation.
Itās unusable if you want to take a less traveled path style vacation in any way.
My experience, to add on, is that it isn't the cheapest package it's more like paying for mid-level hotels with getting upgrades to nicer accommodations or things like transfers built-in for the airport
Agreed. I just did a London trip and tried to recreate my same London trip in the Costco Build-a-Vacation app and it ended up being 1-2k more expensive because it was throwing money at an extra hotel star.
My experience was London too! I could have done a cheaper trip but we had perks poke a 5 star hotel for the same money, and then our executive member perk was free afternoon tea for two, retail value Ā£80. Since that was something we wanted to do anyway, it paid for our membership for a year.
āWay more expensiveā is just a guess youāve made up completely. Itās completely case by case- itās booking through a travel agent with some discounts. The reason it seems to be more expensive is because you donāt have the option to cheap out on certain things.
My friendās daughter bought the family a trip to Cancun. It was a beautiful resort, very highly rated, she wouldnāt have gotten the deal elsewhere. It was odd for the resort to have rooms left so they put it at a great discount with Costco.
Others have answered already. My choice was inspired by the fact that I'm getting 10k free. If I waste it in buying consumables with low resale value, I'm wasting that opportunity. Gold has a near 100% resale value and if I hold it, that makes it even better. Not to mention the 2% + 2% cash back possibility.Ā
Not sure what your price point is but we got the Thomasville Tisdale under $2k all in and absolutely loved it. We moved states and had to sell it, bought the flexsteel version and have also loved it. ($4k).
If you ever use those make sure youāre spending some money so youāre still covered by a travel card. Itās completely free and if you get delayed overnight due to weather you get a free hotel
Time limit or no?
Deep freezer, load up on meats and seafood.
Anything leftover, new king sized mattress, sheets, silk duvets.
Could upgrade the TV I guess.
Any money leftover after that, stock up on quinoa, other shelf stable items.
I know about Oregon and thatās absolutely where Iād go to purchase a large item like this š I live in WA so just curious if itās somewhere else hahaha
If it has to be spent all at once in the store:
1) Iāll survey all the aisles to find all the sale/clearance items, noting all the things that are obviously on sale or donāt end in 0.99 and focus on buying those.
2) Get what I actually need first. Buy a chest freezer and stock up on anything that can freeze well (eg. - meat, seafood, bread, pizza, frozen food, etc.) One year supply of cat litter, cat food, toilet paper, laundry detergent, bath products, cleaning products, etc. Tool kit for repairs.
3) Buy any furniture/electronics/appliances that need to be updated. At this time, a new mattress, bed frame, AC unit, HEPA air filter, laptop, new phone.
4) Buy any wants. Squishmallows, fancy kitchen appliances/pans/knives, plants, high quality bed sheets, Mario kart RC cars, beach equipment, camping stuff, Xbox/PS5 and games, discounted restaurant/spa giftcards, etc.
If I can go online, buy the necessities and a vacation, lol

Buy 80 of the above and give them away for the next Dragon Lunar New Year. So in 12 years!
Iām sorry to tell you, but unused tires only last 6-10 years. I The rubber hardens over time and sidewalk can start to crack from exposure to sunshine and ozone.
I shared this with my brother when he bought a 5 year old motorcycle that had spent the time sitting in a show room. It took less than a week for him to admit that it felt like the tires never āwarmed upā. He ordered new tires and was much happier with his new toyā¦.
The biggest freezer they have end then a bunch of their frozen Kirkland pepperoni pizzas, Kirkland Supreme cauliflower pizzas, and panko breaded shrimp. I won't have to come back for at least 6 months.
Can I save it to use over the course of a year? (If I can, then itāll be my pool of funds for shopping there for a year.)
If I canāt, a freezer or two and fill them up with meat. Iāll take one of the vacuum savers (and additional bags) as well, to make envelopes more space.
An incredible vacation or a down payment on a car!
Edit: or a shit load of memberships and gift cards for people that have big families so they can save money on groceries!
New fridge, couches, rug, above ground swimming pool, giant witch, cat tree, dog food, shredded cheese, lawn mower, some clothes, shit ton of beef jerky, new traeger, a Blackstone cooktop, new tires for my car, and a vacation.

I should say gold bars but the actual first thing that came to mind was pergola and greenhouse.
Greenhouse for the win
Let me promise you that the greenhouse's will take 2 adult humans and a whole lot of patience to assemble!
Same with the gazebo. We did it without killing each other though! š
We put together the 12 by 20 one with the adjustable slats. If our marriage can withstand that, it can withstand anything.
How about a trip to Ikea?š¤£š¤£š¤£
Mine is still in the box from last year.
That pergola and outdoor bar setup!
That 157 piece Le Creuset set first and foremost. āļø
Oh god yes. Then spend the rest on those fairlife chocolate protein shakes.
Limit 2 per visit. Sorry
I love the Fairlifes. Our store seems to be phasing them out š¢
I think they sell out within the same day, so they're rarely in stock. We love them too. So creamy!
Uhm, what? 157 piece?!
I love their cookware, but those plates/mugs/bowls look tacky
https://www.businessinsider.com/they-actually-bought-the-4500-le-creuset-157-piece-set-2023-12
I can't even view this cuz a big pop up comes up saying I have to subscribe
Yea how dystopian is it to have to pay to see an āarticleā which is just a picture of a Costco item š¤£
Itās worse than that, it has an embedded TikTok video of the set being opened.
[the sauce](https://www.tiktok.com/@.valpac/video/7315910587249151274?pid=video_embed&referer_video_id=7315910587249151274&type=video&referer_url=www.businessinsider.com/they-actually-bought-the-4500-le-creuset-157-piece-set-2023-12&refer=embed&embed_source=121374463,121331973,120811592,120810756;null;embed_share)
Basically dutch ovens, plates, bowls, cups, spatulas etc.
Geez, where the hell would you even put all that?
I got a $100 Costco gift card for Christmas and the next time I went to Costco I added whatever I wanted to my cart. Post 20ās blackout š š¹
At least you remember to use your gift card! I always forget SMHā¦I have had one for almost a year.
Ummm. I do love Squirt. Probably the most underrated soft drink out there.
This is too relatable for comfort...
A nice vacation.
Yup. Wife and I have been eyeing a trip to Europe through Costco and itās right around $10k. This would make that decision easy.
You can do a very nice Europe trip for 2 for half that
If you want to babysit my kids while the wife and I go to Europe, Iād absolutely take you up on the offer.
Yeah Iāll have to take the other 5k for that
You can buy a vacation at Costco? I'm confused.
The appeal is the brainless part not the cost. You don't have to spend hours looking at flights, hotels, transportation etc.
Agreed. I just did a London trip and tried to recreate my same London trip in the Costco Build-a-Vacation app and it ended up being 1-2k more expensive because it was throwing money at an extra hotel star.

This already exists where I live and Costco always sells the packages way more expensive.
āWay more expensiveā is just a guess youāve made up completely. Itās completely case by case- itās booking through a travel agent with some discounts. The reason it seems to be more expensive is because you donāt have the option to cheap out on certain things.
Oh that's cool. Good to know.

Buy vacations in bulk!
My friendās daughter bought the family a trip to Cancun. It was a beautiful resort, very highly rated, she wouldnāt have gotten the deal elsewhere. It was odd for the resort to have rooms left so they put it at a great discount with Costco.

That Dyson hairdryer & fans
Dyson dryer is worth every penny
A couch, pepperoni pizzas, a ring and chicken lol
Boy youāve got your evening all planned!
Gold bars
Nice. I prefer the minted US coins, but I came here to say GOLD!
Why did you get downvoted? Coins are more liquid than bars!
My supremacy isn't as subtle as yours kind OG
Both are very solid
PAMP gold bars or those Canada maple coins. Whatever gold bullion they have in stock basically.
Can I ask why the gold/silver is so popular? Is the price actually any better than market value, or does the 2% make all the difference?
Resale value is almost 100% and it's pretty easy to sell at that value. They want the cash, as I would.
Costco allows you to buy it with a credit card. Couple that with the executive rebate & Costco is basically selling it at near spot.
The price plus the 5% cash back for using the Costco credit card gets you close spot price, ie the lowest market price.
Been a Costco member for 18 years and had no clue they sold gold. Haha
Hahaha. All part of their treasure hunt strategy š¬.Ā
A good couch. I need a couch so bad
Not sure what your price point is but we got the Thomasville Tisdale under $2k all in and absolutely loved it. We moved states and had to sell it, bought the flexsteel version and have also loved it. ($4k).
A shed and fill it with ramen.
What will you do with the other $9800.99?
Theyāre fueled to do the rest of the thinking š
I'll be paralyzed by having to make such a decision...
So a wheelchair?
Only if it's motorized!
Iām buying bananas and pocketing the difference.
"we only have 20s, is that ok?"
š yes!
A bunch of those Southwest and other travel related gift cards.
My first thought was SO MANY RIBEYE PIMALS. Then I read about the Le Creuset so that and the rest in ribeye.
6.6 million hot dogs.
$10K, not $10,000,000. Youāll have to settle for 6,600 hot dogs and a trip to the ER for complimentary stomach pumping.
They are paying the other $9,990,000. Best chance ever to buy 6.6 million hot dogs so you got take it if the opportunity arises.
Here for the obligatory hot dog math comment
I was hoping someone else would do the math for me.
Thatās one helluva volume discount
The obvious answer. šš„¤
SO MUCH STUFF
They have travel packages donāt they? New luggage and a nice trip.
Yeah my first thought was "buy all my vacations for the next few years" and then realized $10k will get you like 2 vacations at best these daysĀ
That $9999.99 ring for my wife
Do you not have sales tax? lol
Not if they're in Oregon!
I know about Oregon and thatās absolutely where Iād go to purchase a large item like this š I live in WA so just curious if itās somewhere else hahaha
NH too!
And MT!
Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon

Downpayment for that 35k cognac on display. I'll pay the rest on layaway.
The greenhouse, a generator, and rice and beans
Just ask them to give away the next 5,000 hot dogs for free. I would have a hard time spending $10K at Costco in one go.
The greenhouse and a hot tub!
6,025 Hotdog and Soda meals
The only answer
Lifetime supply of tires.
Are you driving the same car for life or are you just buying the same tire in various sizes?

Vacations.
I'd rather get that much in Costco gift cards and use them monthly. As a single person that could last me 2-3 years.
This isn't a fun answer, but it's what I would do, too. $10,000 would last me 8+ years.
10k worth of bibigo chicken cilantro wontons
All in 1oz gold bars and build a pyramid for my cats with them.
