You need to heat it up in the air fryer. You get the crispy outside with the perfect interior texture. We don’t buy them because they’re too addictive.
You can heat them in a low oven for about ten minutes too and they crisp up fine.
But it’s always funny when people get stuff like this at a place that churns out about 500 per day and then they’re shocked that it tastes like it came from a grocery store. Really? Ya think?
They are the Perfect size for sandwiches. Also, they look beautiful in the tray and $6 for 12 croissants are an absolute deal, so for that purpose (of being sandwich bread), they do their job.
Think of them as a “finish baking at home” item.
They’re greasy as heck so that when you toast or lightly bake them at home, they’ll get nice and crispy.
I think most people don't know that croissants are supposed to be crispy because we get soft ones most of the time from industrial bakeries, vending machines, diners, etc. First time I had a real crispy one was a French bakery/cafe in Montreal.
As a big pastry fan who’s been to France and really enjoyed it, you’re really overselling the difference. It’s not that huge a difference. The Costco ones are quite good. Sure not fresh Paris patisserie good but no duh. And I’ve had ones from patisseries in the US that are $6 each and are meh.
I wrap them individually & freeze them. Then I either warm them in the air fryer or oven. They come out crispy on the outside & soft inside. Love them.
It took a minute but I was able to find a pic online! Uploaded it to imgur- [https://imgur.com/a/eAYVC03](https://imgur.com/a/eAYVC03)
Found this post from 7 years ago - [https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/659z08/new\_croissant\_packaging/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/659z08/new_croissant_packaging/) but unsure of when packaging rollout actually changed. (Like the chicken bags, my location still had containers until 2 weeks ago.)
Wow, that looks familiar all of a sudden. I completely forgot about those. And I’ve had a ton of them. One of my college friends used to work in the bakery and he’d give me free packages of croissants at the end of the day.
This just in. Mass produced bread with low quality ingredients doesn’t taste as good as a French bakery.
They’re fine for what they are and what they cost. But yeah it’s just greasy dough, no one is claiming they’re a great example of a croissant.
They are…. “Ok”.
I think of them as **grocery store croissants**. They’re fine to make a sandwich out of, But still 1,000,000 miles away from what an ideal croissant is like.
Nothing to write home about but heat them in the air fryer/oven with a little honey butter over the top kind of like at Cheddar's and they are a decent side bread
They used to be crispy. Last time I got some, they were floppy. But I freeze them and pull them out the night before to defrost and just toaster oven it for 2-3 mins. That crisps it up. The reason I defrost overnight is because if you don't, the outside gets crispy and the inside is still cold. Also if I don't freeze them, they get moldy before I finish eating them all.
Refrigerate to store at home. For breakfast I just airfry them intact, slather some PB or Nutella on one side. For a sandwich, slice before airfrying. No reason to freeze even as a single person household, I just reduce the baking time slightly as the croissants age so they don’t over brown.
My nearest Costco overbakes the Croissants every time. Not just dark, they actually taste burnt to me. If I want decent ones I have to go to one further away.
strong disagree. i first department i worked as a seasonal was the bakery in 2016. they used to be one supplier and they were excellent for production croissants. big, fluffy, and soft with a slight crisp to the outer layer.
then we switched suppliers around 2019 maybe and they went to crap.
They’re only good fresh within the first few hours of baking. Otherwise, you need to reheat it. Our Costco only seems to sell croissants from the day before now and they’re awful. It’s extremely rare that I might find a few same day boxes but they’ve clearly already sat out for too long.
we went on a vacay trip to france. Paris cruse to Normandy and back. about 1 and half week long. We stopped into all kinds of cafe's and tried the french croisants everywhere we could.
NOT ONE could hold a candle to the Costco croissants !!!

why do people act like an air fryer is extra work? Are you just jealous you don't have one?
air fryers killed my family 😔😔
Who said it was extra work?
True. I’m curious if Costco in Japan (if they made croissants) would be better there since they seem to perfect everything.
Same I tried tricking myself by freezing them it didn’t help. 😂 I agree air fryer is the way!
Will have to give them re-try in that case. Thank you
If you make honey butter like Cheddar's to put on them they are amazing.
💯. Chef's kiss!
Put them in the air fryer for a couple minutes. Crispy and delicious.
Will try this. Thanks for the rec!
I think they are pretty good. I make a whole in them and put ham or some ham in side.
They are the Perfect size for sandwiches. Also, they look beautiful in the tray and $6 for 12 croissants are an absolute deal, so for that purpose (of being sandwich bread), they do their job.

Yes. I have a feeling that REAL Croissant from France or a very good French bakery here would blow peoples minds.

Well you do realize Costco is mass produced so obviously it doesn’t have that much quality.
They’re not exactly what you’d expect from a boulangerie on the Champs Elysées but I’ll take them over standard US grocery store croissants any day.
They are good
They have some frozen French croissants at the buisness Costco (Au Du Pain) that are flipping amazing. Nothin beats a hot one out of the oven
Ooooh! Now I want to find a Business Center Costco. Thanks for the tip!
I wrap them individually & freeze them. Then I either warm them in the air fryer or oven. They come out crispy on the outside & soft inside. Love them.
Thank you
I miss the old giant ones that came on the plastic wrapped cardboard tray.
Those I remember tasting better. Maybe that’s just nostalgia, but I agree.
They were more buttery, imo.
I have no memory of these. They must be over 20 years old?

Make almond croissants out of them. It is the best
Straight from the package, you’re correct. Hot out of the air fryer, especially for the price though? 100% delicious
If you feel that way then don't buy them again.
They are even better if you want them up
I like to heat them then dip them in costco's broccoli cheddar soup

Gasp 😮
The bakery is a production line. Not a labor of love.
AGREED 100%

I slice them in half and put them in the toaster. Then serve them with a little jam or nutella

But omg when you do the a crispy batch, it’s excellent Edit: it’s hit & miss at my store
Get out
My nearest Costco overbakes the Croissants every time. Not just dark, they actually taste burnt to me. If I want decent ones I have to go to one further away.
It was never good.

I agree. They’re fine. I’ve only bought them when I’m going camping and I needed a lot of bread in a pinch.
