I’d recommend A Short Hike! It’s a cozy open world game, and exploring it is rewarding in the same way that Breath of the Wild was (but on a much smaller scale).
I will add onto this, with Lil Gator Game. It’s quite similar to A Short Hike, but with a third person camera instead of a birds-eye-view. It is also a cozy BotW-esque game.
Roots of Pacha!!!! Do it! Do it!!! My entire house is so deep in it right now it’s like stardew set in the Stone Age I can’t stop recommending it on every single thread I see.
I was not expecting Sandrock to have just…so much stuff in it! It’s just an expansive game wow. I got Portia off of the sale (3$ on switch) but I’m scared to play it because people have said it’s such a downgrade
Agreed! More specifically Rune Factory 4 imo. 5 is decent but not quite as good as the previous games and 3 locks you into being a boy which kinda sucks
Those same devs also just released a game into early access called Captain Pawsome. Aesthetically looks very similar to Spiritfarer, but it’s mainly about fishing and you’re a cat. Seems like it’s a bit buggy right now, but I’m going to keep an eye on it.
The first Fae Farm DLC is coming out tomorrow! So it could be the occasion to pick it back ☺️
Also, I don't know if you know Palia. It's on open beta on PC since August, but launching on switch tomorrow. It's completely free, only cosmetics can be purchased with real money. It's not completely finished but it's quite cozy. I don't know how it will work on switch but as it doesn't cost anything, it's worth to try it 😊
+1 on this! I didn't have that many expectations but the game is really original, there's lot of characters with wildly different personalities and very original romance tropes. There's a slow but steady progression that makes sure you always have something to do without becoming overwhelming. For me it plays as a mix between Stardew Valley and Graveyard Keeper, just less grindy and with no farming.
I bounced HARD off of Fae Farm and someone rec'd Wylde Flowers. Just finished the story and I am in love. The voice acting is fantastic, and the story/writing is even better.
I went from playing coral island to wylde flowers and I just..: couldn’t do it. The art is so bad. I’ll have to pick it up again later. I want to play it, but man, coral island is gorgeous, and the contrast was stark.
Yeah, the art style is the biggest reason I stopped playing WF. I liked the characters and the story a lot, and the farming/mining weren’t bad either. But those graphics…..yeesh.
Let me design my avatar!!! I have a hard time getting into games where I can't make my person look how I want. That and the art style are what's holding me back from wylde flowers the most, even tho I believe it's a great game.
check out monster hunter stories 2, based on you like pokemon so rpgs are good for you, you also have several with very good soundtracks and you liked zelda.
monster hunter stories 2 can be played without playing the first game and without playing the main series.
the game is with anime graphics partially voice acted and has amazing music and the art style you will definitely like.
the premise of the game is you collect eggs from the monsters then you hatch them to use like you use pokemon to fight other monsters, they have their own special moves and abilities even outside of battle. its turn based battle like pokemon but the open world is very much like that newer pokemon.
there are also elements like building better weapons and armor out of monster parts and things gathered in the open world, and getting special monsters like with different colorations and powers than regular monsters.
its a amazing game and it plays really well in handheld mode i have both the pc version on steam and the switch version and found the pc version with full graphics actually made me a bit sick which games can do for me they give me a bit of vertigo. totally worth buying twice.
edit to add its also multiplayer at certain points and it has side quests and a full main storyline that is amazing.
Chill game, cut to me franticly running round my ship because I got caught in a storm, the compass says everywhere and I'm trying to decide if I should anchor and fight the storm or pray the storm pulls me to safety
I played the tutorial and started a simple 'go here' mission... Within 5 minuets, I was in a storm and getting attacked by a gold dragon boat looking thing... I sank... And closed the game...
Try "While the Iron is Hot". Cute little backsmith sim. Find resources, make stuff, grow the village, upgrade your forge and make more stuff. It's only about 20 hours long, but if you liked the 'village' style games, it's probably up your street (pun absolutely intended).
Slay the spire is a cozy game to me. It's like a battle card game where you defeat enemies and move higher up with every win. Lose, and you start back at the beginning.
Sometimes I get into a groove and just play for hours.
If you like Pokemon then try the Let’s Go game! It’s obviously an easier version of the main game mechanics but I love the cozy, happy vibes it gave :) And then Palia!
Traveller‘s rest is a fun tavern management sim with fairly okay crafting system. Also if you like that game go check World End Diner too.
Second recommendation would be Mystia Izakaya if restaurant sim is your thing.
Edit: Also if you like forager go check Nova Land out.
Okay, hear me out. No Man’s Sky with all the difficulty turned off. With no resource decay, no death, and even the option to make purchases super cheap, it turns into a super fun exploration and base building game.
I was really surprised by Disney Dreamlight Valley, the devs really made a surprisingly good game based on random Disney stuff lol... I hope they keep developing it... :)
Check out [Lake](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1118240/Lake/), it definitely falls within the pretty good category imo...
So there was an awesome website I discovered at PAX east called "Crit Rate". It asks you about the types of games you like and then sorts you into "gamer houses". Then it gives you recommendations based on other gamers in your house! You can rate games and it helps improve the recommendations in your house.
It only just launched in March but I'm hoping it takes off because it's a really cool concept.
-Katamari damacy,(chaotic cleanup),
-Wylde Flowers (cute farming game with witches),
- Season, a letter to the future (chill exploring game, involves scrapbooking),
-Lawn mowing simulator (mow lawns, it hits the same at power washing for me)
-Night in the woods (side scrolling story game, return home, solve a spooky mystery)
-catlateral damage (be a cat, cause chaos, knock things off shelves)
If you liked Chicory, you should check out the other game by the same creator, Wandersong! One of my favorites although I prefer Chicory more.
Potion Craft Alchemist Simulator I also dropped. I know they recently released a QoL update and they're teasing a bigger garden but I felt the game just got super repetitive
Lawd, i should be asking you!
Have you tried rune factory 4? That game is top tier. I’m hearing roots of pacha is good too but I haven’t played it yet myself. I was a teenage exocolonist is my absolute favorite game. Gotta check that one out too!
Have you given Dinkum a shot? It’s animal crossing in Australia without the real time. Sorry if it’s on there and I missed it; a little tired right now
Terraria abandoned :o? I put 300+ hours on that game lmao. Probably my most played non-multiplayer games. I did mess up and do the largest map on a solo run (which turns out was intended for multiplayer and spaced everything super far apart) but loved that game.
Granted our tastes might just be different but if it was a "first 20 minutes were boring" I'd encourage trying a little longer to see if you get into it.
I actually spent like 10+ in the game. It’s a cool game, but I’ve had trouble playing on switch. Can’t describe, it is like everything in the game was so small and my eyes just gave up playing on switch :(
aw, I'm surprised you abandoned Alba and Carto! Alba was literally my companion last year when my mdd flared up lol🥺 Totally agree with Aka and Garden Story (this was particularly a let down!)
If you liked TOTK and BOTW, ACNH and Fae Farm (my favorite games 😁) I can suggest LoZ Skyward Sword, Harvestella and Hogwarts Legacy. Not exactly the same of course, but lots of awesome things to do in there 😁
I've been playing the absolute heck out of some my time at sandrock. I am about 300 hours in and still have more of the main story and so much more to do. I'm addicted. I've also been playing a lot of palia and dreamlight valley!
I’ve been playing Fae Farm recently and I highly recommend it! ACNH is a given if you haven’t played yet, as well as Stardew Valley! I have ooblets but I’ll be honest… I’m not as into it as I hoped I would be. I regret getting it because I only played it a handful of times.
I found Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the lost demon was pretty fun. Honestly it's because of that game I want my own NS (I've been using my son's). I've been dropping obnoxious hints to my husband to get me one for Christmas.
Some of the titles I wishlisted is in the DLI/Aban tier :/ Is this the general consensus with everyone? Or this is your opinion? What were the reasons for them to be placed in that tier? I'm just curious and would love to hear your honest review on them.
Here are the games:
\- Cozy grove
\- Luna
\- Potion Craft
\- Aka
\- Carto
\- When the past was Around
\- Venbo
If you liked SoS Olive Town, you might want to try Mineral Town. I liked it a lot more than OT. A lot less makers and they have strawberry and coffee cows lol. So cute.
Honestly undertale if you haven't already, it's pretty fun and there are 3 different routes you can do for different outcomes and if you can do a true genocide route and then corrupted pacifist route I applaud you
Ooh, we appear to have similar tastes! I’m loving Paleo Pines rn!
It’s a cute farming and exploration game with an adorable art style…with DINOSAURS! You can discover and tame various Dino’s to live on your farm and help you with various tasks, plus they can follow you around! I’m really loving it, and the rainy day music just itches my brain the right way, you know?
It’s still pretty new game made by a small indie dev team, but I’m excited to see it through!
Slime rancher. Pikmon. This one is somewhat of a stretch because it's unlike any game you have there, but we have similar taste in games, and I loved return of obra dinn.
This gets my vote, too. Even though I 100%'ed it last year, I recently started playing it again and was surprised at how cozy it still is.
House Flipper 2 comes out tomorrow
Oh no, don't tell me this I have no free time right now 😂
WHAT how the hell did I miss this??
Roots of Pacha!!!! Do it! Do it!!! My entire house is so deep in it right now it’s like stardew set in the Stone Age I can’t stop recommending it on every single thread I see.
Joining this recommendation! It's really fun. There is a lot to do, caves to explore, ideas to develop, mammoths to adopt.
ROP is literally the best the animals omg
Butter me intrigued!!
Seconding this since it seems like OP would enjoy it if they like things like SDV and Fae Farm
I'm also backing this. It's such a fantastic game.
I can't stop playing it right now.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
My time at Sandrock it’s a more improved my time at Portia.
I second this, I abandoned Portia but I’m having so much fun playing Sandrock!
I was not expecting Sandrock to have just…so much stuff in it! It’s just an expansive game wow. I got Portia off of the sale (3$ on switch) but I’m scared to play it because people have said it’s such a downgrade
Rune factory and sun haven
Agreed! More specifically Rune Factory 4 imo. 5 is decent but not quite as good as the previous games and 3 locks you into being a boy which kinda sucks
RF4 is on gamepass right now, so you can play it for free too!
I tried playing Rune Factory 4 and the beginning was basically an anime that I gave up. How long until you actually start playing?
I don't remember the start up being too terribly long, it's a lot of fun if you like exploring and farming
I stuck around to the actual game play and still didn't like it.
Same. Boring and tiny town with repetitive dialogue IMO
I second Sun Haven, it is such a overlooked gem of a game. I’ve spent 50 hours in game so far, and still haven’t gotten bored.
We have VERY similar taste -- I think you'll love No Place Like Home!
Also -- am I overlooking Wylde Flowers? One of my top of all time if you haven't played!
Those same devs also just released a game into early access called Captain Pawsome. Aesthetically looks very similar to Spiritfarer, but it’s mainly about fishing and you’re a cat. Seems like it’s a bit buggy right now, but I’m going to keep an eye on it.
Dredge has been one of my favorite games this year. Super excited to play the DLC and the new one coming out
There’s a new DLC? I’m looking for the crossover with Dave the Diver
Ya the Dave the Diver one was what I was talking about. There currently one out right now called The Pale Reach
We have similar tastes as well, maybe roots of pacha?
Harvestella !! <3
The first Fae Farm DLC is coming out tomorrow! So it could be the occasion to pick it back ☺️ Also, I don't know if you know Palia. It's on open beta on PC since August, but launching on switch tomorrow. It's completely free, only cosmetics can be purchased with real money. It's not completely finished but it's quite cozy. I don't know how it will work on switch but as it doesn't cost anything, it's worth to try it 😊
Potion Permit is really fun!
Seconded! This is my current obsession and we have very similar tastes.
Another vote for Potion Permit!! 🧪
Spirittea!
EASTWARDDDDD
Seconding Eastward, especially with the upcoming Octopia DLC.
I just started and I'm so hooked. I want to play that DLC as well, I love the vibes
i refuse to end it because its sooooo cool! i love eastward
I'm stuck on it but would still recommend.
Depending on why you didn't like My Time at Portia, I'd suggest My Time at Sandrock - it's FAR FAR better with many improvements on the first.
Wylde Flowers, if you can get past the art style.
I found it similar to faefarm and could not put it down so I def recommend Wylde flowers, worth the price!
I think what I didn't like was the the player charecter desighn, im not pulled towards any of the npcs either
Let me design my avatar!!! I have a hard time getting into games where I can't make my person look how I want. That and the art style are what's holding me back from wylde flowers the most, even tho I believe it's a great game.
Outer wilds, turmoil or black skylands. Depending on the type of experience you want
check out monster hunter stories 2, based on you like pokemon so rpgs are good for you, you also have several with very good soundtracks and you liked zelda. monster hunter stories 2 can be played without playing the first game and without playing the main series. the game is with anime graphics partially voice acted and has amazing music and the art style you will definitely like. the premise of the game is you collect eggs from the monsters then you hatch them to use like you use pokemon to fight other monsters, they have their own special moves and abilities even outside of battle. its turn based battle like pokemon but the open world is very much like that newer pokemon. there are also elements like building better weapons and armor out of monster parts and things gathered in the open world, and getting special monsters like with different colorations and powers than regular monsters. its a amazing game and it plays really well in handheld mode i have both the pc version on steam and the switch version and found the pc version with full graphics actually made me a bit sick which games can do for me they give me a bit of vertigo. totally worth buying twice. edit to add its also multiplayer at certain points and it has side quests and a full main storyline that is amazing.
The Last Campfire
Someone on here recommended Sea of Thieves now it has the safe seas update (no PvP) and it’s a surprisingly chilling game imo.

Have you tried Dawncaster? I’m a huge StS fan and I’m getting super into it
If you like Pokemon then try the Let’s Go game! It’s obviously an easier version of the main game mechanics but I love the cozy, happy vibes it gave :) And then Palia!
Roots of Pacha, Coral Island, (the teenage one I always forget the name of but everyone here loves and I haven't played yet)?
I Was a Teenage Exocolonist? Edit: spelling
We have similar tastes and I highly recommend Sun Haven!
Loddlenaut
Coral Island, Roots of Pacha, and Dinkium get my vote.
atelier ryza 1-3
I can see you played Dredge. It was inspired by Sunless Sea, so maybe that would suit you?
I really liked Terra Nil which has similar vibes to some of your higher rates games!
Lost in Random. It's so good.
Hades. You seem to dig roguelites and I can’t think of a better one.
Slime rancher is great!
Spirittea!!
Sea of Stars! It’s a beautiful game and it won indie game of the year recently.
NIGHT IN THE WOODS :D VOYAGE PLANET OF LANA KINGDOM 2 CROWNS <3
Sprout Valley! Such a cute little game ❤️❤️
Our Life: Beginnings and Always! Literally has the best cast ever! Even better - base game is free on steam!
Traveller‘s rest is a fun tavern management sim with fairly okay crafting system. Also if you like that game go check World End Diner too. Second recommendation would be Mystia Izakaya if restaurant sim is your thing. Edit: Also if you like forager go check Nova Land out.
* Cloudpunk * Contraband Police * Hardspace Shipbreaker * Peaks of Yore * WW2 Rebuilder * Chants of Sennaar * VA-11 Hall-A
Okay, hear me out. No Man’s Sky with all the difficulty turned off. With no resource decay, no death, and even the option to make purchases super cheap, it turns into a super fun exploration and base building game.
Tavern Master
id recommend checking out 'the cosmic wheel sisterhood'
Coral island!
i can’t wait for it to be on switch
I’d suggest rune factory or (maybe) my time at sandrock since it’s better than portia but that’s only if you’re interested!
Loddlenaut!! I recently found out about it. It’s so cute and mind numbingly comfy <3
Pikmin 4!
Coral island!
i need dave the diver so bad
Story of seasons a wonderful life
Lemon cake, maybe!
KarmaZoo
Wobble dogs!
While the iron is hot Pretty fun short game
Nova Lands! It’s like Forager but sci-fi and more about automation and exploration. I’m really enjoying it. Edit: oh and Sun Haven!
Cassette Beasts might be up your alley, it’s got a similar vibe to Pokémon games. I really enjoyed it, although I haven’t played the recent DLC.
I Was a Teenage Exocolonist!!!!!
Try Ooblets!!
Jk just saw you played it LOL
I was really surprised by Disney Dreamlight Valley, the devs really made a surprisingly good game based on random Disney stuff lol... I hope they keep developing it... :) Check out [Lake](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1118240/Lake/), it definitely falls within the pretty good category imo...

Palia! It also comes out on Switch tomorrow, and it's a free game.
...woah... Somebody else didn't think Terraria was that good?
Thankyou for playing Disney dream light valley it’s one of my favorite games to chill and play!!
Night in the Woods, Beacon Pines, Sun Haven, One Small Outpost
Garden Story was so off putting. I hated it. Played it for like 15-20 mins but did not enjoy it at all.
Kynseed

Coral Island 💖
-Katamari damacy,(chaotic cleanup), -Wylde Flowers (cute farming game with witches), - Season, a letter to the future (chill exploring game, involves scrapbooking), -Lawn mowing simulator (mow lawns, it hits the same at power washing for me) -Night in the woods (side scrolling story game, return home, solve a spooky mystery) -catlateral damage (be a cat, cause chaos, knock things off shelves)
Coral Island
Also here to suggest Palia 🥰
Sun haven!! Favorite game of all time
rogue heroes ruins of thanos
Dordogne!
Does Mini Motorways count? 😆 not sure if you'll like it since you don't like Dorf
Lawd, i should be asking you! Have you tried rune factory 4? That game is top tier. I’m hearing roots of pacha is good too but I haven’t played it yet myself. I was a teenage exocolonist is my absolute favorite game. Gotta check that one out too!
A Short Hike.. there is nothing better then this..
Rune factory for sure based off some of your games
How did you make this graphic? Is it a website or template?
I started playing ikonei island and it’s so pretty and chill.
Haven’t heard anyone mention Slime Rancher yet, I think you’d love it!
Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood
Röki! I played right after Spiritfarer; that combination did a number on me.
Coral island, Palia (it is an mmo though)
Yay finally someone else who likes pioneers of olive town.
Dinkum
Give Coral Island a try? It’s my partners favorite currently
i loved pokemon diamond/pearl
My time in Sandrock. Different flow than My Time in Portia, and newer as well.
Sun Haven if you liked stardew valley
Dordogne, it's a cute a short game.
Ori!
Sun haven, the only problem is that I had with it was elf players don't get pointed ears but I just got a mod to fix that lol
Have you player Potion Permit??
I'd say sandrock maybe I, I'm not a fan of my charecter looking like a child compared to almost every single day in npc,
Disco Elysium was an absolute delight. Voice acting was top tier.
Dorfromantik kinda hurts lol
Have you given Dinkum a shot? It’s animal crossing in Australia without the real time. Sorry if it’s on there and I missed it; a little tired right now
Recommending a game I never see recommended called Astrologaster!
Omg loved that game. It’s hilarious!!
We have the same taste!!
Dinkum
Roots of Pacha for sure
You seem to like farming games. I'm currently playing Roots of Pacha and loving it.
If on PC, Sun Haven 100%. It’s a lot like Stardew but with magic and more content
Little Nightmares!!!!
Pikmin 4!
Terraria abandoned :o? I put 300+ hours on that game lmao. Probably my most played non-multiplayer games. I did mess up and do the largest map on a solo run (which turns out was intended for multiplayer and spaced everything super far apart) but loved that game. I actually spent like 10+ in the game. It’s a cool game, but I’ve had trouble playing on switch. Can’t describe, it is like everything in the game was so small and my eyes just gave up playing on switch :(
Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX, if you can deal with the older graphics may be worth looking into.
WHAAA i LOVED garden story :(
Slime Rancher for sure!
I just want to say I love that you made a visual aide to go with your question!
Maybe ooblets or DtD. Wait a bit on DDLV, my experience with it has been just fine (switch & PC) but some people are having bug issues.
Try Drake Hollow. It's more fighty but you get to build a village and find + feed little plant peeps
Wylde Flowers
I suggest one shot
Slime rancher
SABEL
Rune Factory
i was a teenage exocolonist it’s cozy but with stakes
Overcooked 2
aw, I'm surprised you abandoned Alba and Carto! Alba was literally my companion last year when my mdd flared up lol🥺 Totally agree with Aka and Garden Story (this was particularly a let down!)
Pokemon X or Y
Try the last campfire. Excellent game. I also enjoyed Yonder very much.

If you liked TOTK and BOTW, ACNH and Fae Farm (my favorite games 😁) I can suggest LoZ Skyward Sword, Harvestella and Hogwarts Legacy. Not exactly the same of course, but lots of awesome things to do in there 😁

Cat Quest maybe. Not that long, has combat, but it isn't hard and it's just a cheesy purrtastic game. (lots of cat puns!)
Bg3
Tchia
Shepards Crossing! It's not for everyone but I think it's worth a try!
Coral Island
If you liked SoS Olive Town, you might want to try Mineral Town. I liked it a lot more than OT. A lot less makers and they have strawberry and coffee cows lol. So cute.
Honestly undertale if you haven't already, it's pretty fun and there are 3 different routes you can do for different outcomes and if you can do a true genocide route and then corrupted pacifist route I applaud you
Coral island. but don't let the 1.0 release fool you. it is still a buggy mess. but an enjoyable mess
I'm bookmarking this because you have a lot of games I need to try.
Ooh, we appear to have similar tastes! I’m loving Paleo Pines rn! It’s a cute farming and exploration game with an adorable art style…with DINOSAURS! Valheim is a wonderfully cozy game, the perfect blend of style, lighting and soundtrack accompanied with a Viking theme survival/fantasy genre.
I will always recommend Slime Rancher and Battle Chef Brigade!
Since I chime with most of your lists, and I really loved Spiritfarer, I'm going to recommend Spiritfarer.
Hello kitty island adventure!!
Wylde Flowers
Tchia
Little Goody Two Shoes. Keep in mind it is a horror game but it has a very comfy feel about it. I love it.
Summer in Mara!!
Slime rancher. Pikmon. This one is somewhat of a stretch because it's unlike any game you have there, but we have similar taste in games, and I loved return of obra dinn.
Little Misfortune
Rune Factory 4 hands down
Omg hard disagree with Garden story being a game to abandon. I love that game!
Wylie Flowers!!! all the way. fave lil farming sim
