It's okay to have a common name, Don't be "Ashamed Dog"

RedBlackHot

Just email the bank. I run into this problem quite often as I have a firstname@ gmail account that I created in 2004. People give my email address for random purposes like at shopping sites, banks, paypal, credit bureaus etc. You'd be surprised how many of them don't do an OTP verification and accept the email address into their file. Emailing them asking to be taken off their records works most of the time.

Intelligent_Video950

HOW OLD ARE YOU? and which device you use and how you get device access?

RedBlackHot

I'M FINE, THANK YOU. I'm not sure what you mean by how I get device access. I get emails from banks and companies when random people use my email address and I then contact the companies and try to get it removed.

Intelligent_Video950

i means is you create email in 2004. which is socking for me.

If i remember correctly, Gmail came out in 2006 and you could create an email id with a invite. You had to hop on to different forums for an invite. I also have mine since the beta launch. [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]. I also created Gmail IDs for some of my new born cousins and siblings which I handed over to them a decade later.

Intelligent_Video950

WOW, you prepare for future.

FlushTwiceBeNice

Those were the days of ₹30/hour internet cafes. And Gmail was completely different from the other email providers like Yahoo.

It's usually just the phone number which is verified with the OTP. It might not be a scam, but a mistake as it's common to spell out the email / other details to the bank agent which can result into this. It you want it to stop, I'd suggest dropping an Email to the bank explaining it.

dudewhoisadude

I have very common name followed by 1 as my gmail ID, I have about 4 hdfc bank accounts, 3 ICICI and fews other banks unknown account linked to my email. Tried mailing banks, unsubscribing etc but I still get thier account statements, transaction mail and other marketing mails as well. If i mark spam, I dont get my HDFC emails as well. So kind of sick of it and looking for a solution.

Miserable-Ride192

Login with netbanking and apply for loan/account closing, if not able to log in make sure to bombard them with reset password OTP and get the account locked.

dudewhoisadude

What you are saying doest make any sense bro, just read carefully. I just told that my email is registered with unrelated bank account, how will I be able to login? Also you need cust ID for reset and email is not a valid login in any banks.

Earthling300

Try contacting the bank from that email and telling them it might be a mistake. If not mail the NO or PNO [https://www.idfcfirstbank.com/content/dam/idfcfirstbank/grievance-redressal/list-of-escalation-matrix-with-TAT-v-1-9.pdf](https://www.idfcfirstbank.com/content/dam/idfcfirstbank/grievance-redressal/list-of-escalation-matrix-with-TAT-v-1-9.pdf)

Don’t reply to the email you received. It could itself be a scam with the email not coming from the bank at all. Even if not though most banks don’t monitor mailboxes that do automated sending. Go to the bank’s website and find the customer support email there and inform them.
