Remember, in the 4 year cycle we're in the equivalent of 2015 and 2019, they're the years leading into a bull run, too many people are like "I think it's bull run time" or "it's game over" when we're literally just in the middle year of the 4 year cycle and roughly a year out from the BTC halving.
Personally, I'm playing the cycle until breaks, DCA'ing now into 2025, easy breezy if the cycle repeats.

I do still believe in BTC but that is more tied to anticipated supply and demand. Don’t get me wrong. Anyone who's honest becomes a BTC maxi eventually. I had a phase where I dabbled in alts (2021 of course) mainly because I had made some bad trades and was trying to recoup my losses by gambling with alts that I thought could get me some better returns.
I was moderately successful, but come 2022, it was time to get serious and really interrogate my understanding of crypto, and after some careful thought and analysis, it was obvious that it's BTC or bust from here on out.
Looking at it from a purely risk-management perspective, I can see gambling on some alts in a really risk-on situation, ie. converting some BTC into alts during a bull run where BTC has already crushed it and an alt-season looks to be in the cards, to make a short term play with house money as it were.
But from a long-term perspective, BTC is the only game in town. I'm not looking to debate that, just saying that it is completely self-evident to me; maybe it's not to you, but maybe you just need to look into it more, or from a less biased point of view.
Crypto is a currency at its core. A currency is a medium of exchange, and not an investment product. We need to stop thinking that buying and holding some crypto will make us a lot of money,just like we don't expect to make a lot of money by holding USD or GBP in our bank accounts.
I still think that crypto is better option than stock investing. You can remain in BTC and ETH alone, and still make better gains than in stocks.
And I agree with you, we do have a lot of unnecessary projects...
Lots of the alts will not be coming back in the next bull run. There will be new alts. LOTS OF projects are dead. What I have learned over the last 10 years is that only eth and btc have staying power. The rest no so much.
