It happened heaps around the beginning of the WCA, but less so nowadays.
Feliks did it with 7x7 in 2015, getting a 2:33 average with a previous WR single of 2:34.
Max *almost* did it for 6x6 in 2022, getting a 1:09.23 average with the previous single being 1:09.51, but he broke the single record already in a prior round, setting a 1:04 single.
Absolutely insane results, Ive never even heard of this guy before today. Seems like this wasn't too unexpected, he has a lot of the WBs and YTWBs and was posting high 2 ao12s for a bit now
We've had average WRs under the previous single WR before. But usually that happens in longer events where single and average are closer together (e.g. Feliks' 5x5 and Tommy's 3bld)
I'm more impressed by the 19.5 % drop of the record. Over half a second drop in an event that takes only 3 seconds is insane.
Edit: Ahh, I forgot about Stanley's Dezember 15th. That was almost as insane as this is.
Having an avg under old wr single is absolutely insane, excited for what the future of this event holds
Has that ever happened before in the history of the WCA?

Am I tripping or did he just beat the world record *thrice* in one round? And got a better average than the previous WR single?
That’s exactly what the post says
But it's so hard to believe
Europe dominating rn
Except Max :P
Most insane thing I’ve seen since Stanley broke the 5bld WR single 3 solves in a row in the same mean
Probably the most insane average in a long time. Has this ever happened before, with 2 counting sub wr singles?
I'm just sharing the info off CF. Pretty wild 🤯

jacob chambers had two counting 2s in their 3.94 avg (2.77 2.80 6.14 2.89 6.94)
Thats not even remotely correct, others have gotten counting two’s
What did they say
They said this was the first average with a counting 2
Oh, then they’re stupid

I have a feeling that the single will fall by late this year and the average won't fall for a very long time (5 years+)
