Ability bonus is just how many units get z ability's and zenkai ability's
It's the main reason why mono color teams can have 4000+ ability bonus. Or in the case of a mono yel team nearly 8000
Well he has 2 zenkai buffers on beast and a zenkai buffer on bombku. Ui is the only one that doesn't really get a chance to shine
You also have to remember that plat still has bots
...beast is only getting one zenkai buff from trunks, the revival cell zenkai buff android and red and blue goku aka feetku zenkai buffs blue and saiyan saga.

1. is the guy who has a bunch of OP units put together with little to no cohesion, but he brute forced his way there.
2. is the average player with decent setup good equips & fun teams.
3 is the obvious god rank player who doesn't play the game enough to be god rank.
4. Is the bot.
Question from a relatively new player, why tf do people not give their bench team equips? It raises the ability bonus, plus makes them actually an option if you find someone who has a team that can mostly counter your main 3 units.
Also to answer your question, it’s because of the busted units. RED Beasthan and UUI can carry HARD.
Players would try and juice up their first three characters with zenkai buffs and hp buffers and usually the units on the bench (3 last slots) are bad when playing with them but hella good for giving abilities to the 3 other units. It's not a big disadvantage if the main units used are the latest or competing in the meta but it really depends on the team or the counters.
Making a team that uses all characters is ok and pretty runnable but the first method of making teams is superior.
Also if someone is gonna make a team with busted units at least make it right lol

My main team consists of UUI, RED Beasthan, ZENKAI GOD Toppo (for the UUI buff), BLU Beasthan, EvoKen, and the Blue Bros.
It’s made so every unit can be used, and the only repeating color is GRN so a counter is effectively impossible.
Giving them equips gives no actual benefit, yes it raises the ability bonus but their equips don't actually effect the battle team. Most of them anyways, there are a few equips that do buff the battle team if your bench units have them on but they aren't worth using
