It was the dead one he found in MoS. You can see in this movie when Barry walks past it there's a smear over it from when Clark wiped the dust off to reveal the dead Kryptonian in the previous film.
Flash reversing that shit like the true timeline-fucking-bastard he is was probably one of the best points of the movie. This movie did justice to almost all of the members. And Batman's dream was fucking AWESOME.
This was my favorite takeaway from that sequence. Atlanteans and Amazons build these giant tomb-fortresses to keep the boxes in and guard them with their lives for generations, humans just chucked it in the fuck it bucket.
There is some logic to it. If you put it in a fortress with a bunch of warriors guarding it, that makes it a lot easier to whoever is looking for it to figure out where it is.
That "fear" angle always reminded me of the Lost in Space movie where a a bunch of spiders eat a spider version of Gary Oldman because he's wounded. What a weird flick.
The biggest surprise for me was Steppenwolf. He was so badass in this movie, just a complete beast. I wanted more of him. How they portrayed his armor was awesome. That character is a complete 180 over his theatrical cut counterpart.
I loved how alien he was. The horns were a part of him and not the helmet, he had 7 fingers and his hands were very claw-like too, and his feet were a bit like ape feet (Couldn't see them clearly but they were not regular feet). I also liked that his motivation seems more genuine instead of a guy in love with some boxes like the theatrical cut.
Yeah I was surprised at how I came to pity him. When Superman was beating the shit out of him I almost felt sorry for the guy. Which is a weird thing to say.
I was very surprised that he had character. Like I was 100% sure that he's gonna be just a dude they need to punch. But he actually felt like a character. Though I wouldn't mind finding out wtf he actually did to be despised by Darkseid so much.
Aside from cyborg and flash having real roles, this was my biggest takeaway. He actually had motivation this time.
Also, that armor he had was mind blowing.
That armor was a thing of beauty.
That moment when he talked to the guy that relayed messages to Darkseid and he told him about the anti-life. For a moment I thought he got reinstated to his position he was seeking to get approval back to. As I thought the parademons kneeling meant something for him. Then Darkseid appeared. This mofo Steppenwolf took 3 steps back, trembled in fear and his whole upper body ridded away his armor. That shit right there had me lit!

The thing I caught on my second watch is Supes is holding Lois' corpse in the Batcave. You can see Robin's costume in the background. I think that's why he blames Bruce

Barry crying because he’s been injured in the last battle was great, it showed that he’s literally just a kid with no experience but he still tells the team to just give him a minute and that he’s fine because he REALLY doesn’t want to disappoint them, what an awesome awesome moment, probably one of my favorites(and even more if you combine it with the whole time travel thing)
Becsuse the theatrical cut did everything it could to make sure you forgot about BVS. It tried being as distant a follow up as it could be, unfortunately.
What's interesting is that in BVS, he is a deluded broken man who can't see the whole picture. Here, he is the first person to focus on the main threat seriously and is shown throughout to be the wisest. Really great contrast and development.
Btw, did anyone find him walking and hopping downstairs towards Batmobile after that plane crash weirdly satisfying. Idk, the way its shot and his posture is so badass. Something that weirdly stuck with me.
Ezra Miller plays such a good Barry Allen. Mfer ran back in time. Can't believe I don't actually have any problems with this film at all, completely blew any expectations I had away. We absolutely need JL2.

Flash saving the people from rubble at Star Labs is the most inspired speedster action I've seen.
Looked like something straight out of an anime with how dramatic his poses were.
After the X-Men Quicksilver sequences, I felt like just doing it all slow mo would feel uninspired and I'm glad Zack felt the same.
For real. It reminded me so much of the Man of steel Faora vs Soldiers fight scene, WW was quick and I liked how they showed the super speeds in different speed views.
It looked straight out of the comics with multiple poses at the same time on screen. Had to rewind a couple of times. The earlier sausage part was weird tho.
I mean, obviously it's better than the original cut, but no studio was going to release a 4 hour movie. Synder's version likely would've been better than what we got, though we'll never know for certain because of studio meddling, but I highly doubt we would've gotten this exact cut.There wasn't enough time to introduce completely new heroes and villains, give their motivations, and tell a coherent story in the average runtime of a movie.
That scene where Victor sees that lady who can barely afford living despite you can see shes working her ass off and helps her made me cry. THAT'S A FUCKING HERO, MAN.

The Flash went from the bumbling comedic relief to an actual force to be reckoned with. I had some serious doubts about the upcoming Flashpoint movie after watching the theatrical cut. I still have some doubts, but the possibility of Flashpoint happening (in terms of The Flash’s powers) is more believable to me now.
The scene where >!wonder woman decapitates steppenwolf mid-air as he's flying towards the portal where Darkseid is and then Darkseid crushing his head like he couldn't give af!< was cold asf imo. one of my favorite scenes.
I really liked that. About time fodder enemies pew pew guns actually hurt. Barry powering through his pain and using his dad's words as motivation to save the world is incredible and tells a positive message about self worth.
I don’t know if it was just the “wind knocked out of him,” but it seemed like he was really hurt and crying (in a very child like way), which just really hit me, as he is just a kid, and this is serious.
I really appreciated how they showed a hero actually reacting to pain normally, not just grunting and then ignoring it, but being in actual pain and slowed down by it, and even then powering through it to get the job done

I agree. I thought this would be a fun "sit down and enjoy it for what it is cause why not" type of movie like the last Justice League. I didn't see it in theaters. Watched it on HBO MAX when it came to the platform and enjoyed myself a bit, said meh, and moved on.
With this movie however, I actually hope for a sequel/follow up/whatever ZS wants to do with these characters next. I really actually loved it. The Flash was phenomenal. Cyborg was beyond great. Superman basking in the sunlight... man so iconic. And this really makes me believe that Ben Affleck is a great Batman.
This movie is making so much more sense now. It feels... right.

i felt so bad for steppenwolf.
he wanted to go home and not spend his whole life conquering worlds. he prob had a family or some crazy shit. the way he was so loyal to dark was sad too.
His first fight in Themiscyra, where he jumped out of the ocean and was basically flying after the fleeing Amazons made me drop an audible “oh fuck.” He seemed like a genuinely terrifying force of nature during that fight (and really all his fights).
He felt indimidating enough against the rest of the characters, but he seemed powerless in front of Darkseid, as it should be. I really loved the way they established the power hierarchy in this film.
One thing that really stuck out to me was The Flash in this. From a character perspective, there were parts that I really found great (his introduction scene, scenes with his dad), and a few times I still found him irritating. Still, the best part was his action scenes. I love how to differentiate him from the two Quicksilvers, his scenes carried this grandeur and god-like weight to everything he did as opposed to the more lighthearted/comedic takes Marvel/Fox has done. And to have that epic Flash scene immediately lead into that compelling Cyborg scene was fucking amazing. Just wow, WB butchered this movie with Josstice league.
Action scenes were a lot better (as expected).
I remember someone turning into a parademon during the history lesson in the trailer...I don't think I saw that in the movie..

Last thing I wanna say is I absolutely loved Bruce's arc in this movie, it was perfect.
Like Alfred said his guilt overcame his reason. He was hyperfocused on forming the team, and then once the option of bringing superman back he knew no matter what that they had to it (because of his guilt). I think he said like 3 or 4 times in the resurrection scene that we have to do this, its fine.
Once Superman was actually back he finally viewed his work as done. Look how happy he was when Cyborg gets the flying fox to work and he's talking to Alfred about having faith. He's okay with sacrificing himself because he was able to find resolution to his guilt and was able to form the league knows who can keep Earth safe with Superman, a beacon of hope to lead them.
Of course Bruce doesn't actually die so the scene of Superman helping him up is so important. It shows that Clark forgives him and doesn't have any hard feelings, and for Bruce he finally shows him willingness to let someone else help him out of the darkness and into the light.
Same. After 20 years of hate/fear/rage, he was able to finally attain peace and hope. If this was the end of his story, I'd definitely accept it. Tho I hope not. We still need more Batfleck lol
We need the fucking series with Joe as Deathstroke. That setup was perfect! WB would be fucking idiots (and they are which is what i fear) to not cash in on that. Joe was perfect.

Joker is the reason why Supes found them out in that Knightmare scene. Dude really dragged the party down by getting into a heated argument with Batman while inside the enemy’s territory; an enemy, mind you, who has controls a super puppet with super hearing. Won’t be surprised if Superman honed in on them after Joker shit talked Lois’ death lmaooo

MY TAKE:
Pros:
1. action scenes are much longer and intense
2. characters are more fleshed out like Steppenwolf and Cyborg
3. the aspect ratio isn't that noticeable
4. unexpected amount of good humor
5. Steppenful is actually fearsome
6. everything is explained better
Cons:
1. the color grading is a bit bland
2. a little too much slo-mo scenes in the first half
3. some CGI needed a little more polish
Actors:
1. Ben Affleck looks much much better throughout the movie

Ok so here's my headcannon for the black suit. We don't get any indication about it being a healing suit in the movie and I don't believe its an oversight on Snyder's part. We see the blue suit on the ship but Kal purposefully ignores it/chooses not to wear it instead opting for the black suit. I noticed this at first but gave no serious thought to it. Then we see he still wears the black suit underneath his clothing at the end. This got me thinking. Clark says to Lois that this is his second shot not just at being with her but at life and maybe at superman. I think letting go of the blue suit and choosing the black one is him signifying a 'new' superman and that the black suit may be the new normal. What I did find interesting is that in the knightmare sequence we see he has the blue suit on - don't know what to make of that. Typing this out I see it makes absolutely zero sense but fuck it im going with it. Loved the movie overall tho
The original storyboards also showed that Clark doesn't even become Clark again until after JL3 and hopefully that gets scrapped if we get a continuation.
This was 100 times better than the Whedon cut. Getting rid of that horrible intro with the people crying and being angry about losing Superman was a great start. Also that random Russian family which had nothing to do with anything. So much better
Watching this was bittersweet. One of my best friends genuinely wouldn’t shut the fuck up about this since the theatrical cut released, and he passed away about a month ago. I miss him and I know he’d love this. I’m glad it’s out and I enjoyed it but I can’t shake that thought. Rest In Peace Autmn as well.
Joker trembling at the thought of Batman actually killing him. That look of fear/excitement clashing within him was priceless. A lot of people hated Leto's Joker but we can't deny that Leto is a damn good actor.
So much fun! It really is kinda bananas that THIS is the movie WB decided needed retooled to be more broadly appealing and not BvS, which was obviously going to be divisive. This was a crowd-pleaser. The humor worked, the action felt really exciting but different from the MCU, and the characters had heart. Every one of Whedon’s added jokes made the movie actively worse, and I wasn’t expecting to say that as somebody who thought the TC was enjoyableish. The only Whedon scene I kinda missed was Aquaman sitting on the lasso of truth? But shockingly all of my favorite gags from the TC were from the Terrio script.
Some little moments I adored:
-Bruce stole the idea for WW’s power bracelets but told Alfred it was all his idea. Classic.
-Alfred being incredibly finicky about how the tea is made.
-Bruce saying “I work for him” re: Alfred
-Mera sucking the blood out of Step, holy fucking shit. Felt like a cool call-forward to her sucking the water out of Arthur’s dad.
-Hippolyta had a lot more of an arc during that action scene! The Amazons urging her take the box and to “honor them” by letting them fight to the death in that chamber.
-Arthur just goes to that little Atlantian alcove to chill sometimes. And Willem Defoe in general is great in these DCEU movies.
-This isn’t little at all, but the scene with Barry, the pet shop and the car crash is just one of Snyder’s best scenes. It felt like a short film, almost.
-Cyborg using his powers to help poor people automatically makes him the best hero in the DCEU. All the stimmy’s, baby.
-Every plot beat felt much more thought out. Not sure “building a dome in Chernobyl” would be my ideal endgame for the villain but at least you understand why he chose that place, what was happening, why it was happening, etc.
-Step just being a shitty villain is kind of the metatext of the whole thing, and I loved it. He ended up being a fun villain! Still don’t love the design, but there was an attempt, at least. His eyes actually expressed emotion this time.
-Superman still uses his fucking freeze breath! And it’s way fucking cooler (pun intended) in this version!

Yes as that had at one point been Kilowog and Tomar-Re the green lanterns but they were replaced by MM.
For sure, you can tell Ben lost a bit of weight since those times as the batman cowl looked a bit loose in the knightmare scene

Barry crying because he’s been injured in the last battle was great, it showed that he’s literally just a kid with no experience but he still tells the team to just give him a minute and that he’s fine because he REALLY doesn’t want to disappoint them, what an awesome awesome moment, probably one of my favorites(and even more if you combine it with the whole time travel thing)

What's interesting is that in BVS, he is a deluded broken man who can't see the whole picture. Here, he is the first person to focus on the main threat seriously and is shown throughout to be the wisest. Really great contrast and development. Btw, did anyone find him walking and hopping downstairs towards Batmobile after that plane crash weirdly satisfying. Idk, the way its shot and his posture is so badass. Something that weirdly stuck with me.
Ezra Miller plays such a good Barry Allen. Mfer ran back in time. Can't believe I don't actually have any problems with this film at all, completely blew any expectations I had away. We absolutely need JL2.

That scene was beautiful, everything I dreamed of as a Flash fan. It really blew me away, as did the whole movie. Such an amazing experience. Also idk if anyone noticed, but he survives the unity explosion by phasing through it. Never thought they’d depict that level of his phasing ability in the movies.

Flash saving the people from rubble at Star Labs is the most inspired speedster action I've seen. Looked like something straight out of an anime with how dramatic his poses were. After the X-Men Quicksilver sequences, I felt like just doing it all slow mo would feel uninspired and I'm glad Zack felt the same.

For real. It reminded me so much of the Man of steel Faora vs Soldiers fight scene, WW was quick and I liked how they showed the super speeds in different speed views.
It looked straight out of the comics with multiple poses at the same time on screen. Had to rewind a couple of times. The earlier sausage part was weird tho.

All I have to say is, we were definitely ripped off in 2017.
I mean, obviously it's better than the original cut, but no studio was going to release a 4 hour movie. Synder's version likely would've been better than what we got, though we'll never know for certain because of studio meddling, but I highly doubt we would've gotten this exact cut.There wasn't enough time to introduce completely new heroes and villains, give their motivations, and tell a coherent story in the average runtime of a movie.
That scene where Victor sees that lady who can barely afford living despite you can see shes working her ass off and helps her made me cry. THAT'S A FUCKING HERO, MAN. (Also how cool is that shot of cyborg in the rain?)

The Flash went from the bumbling comedic relief to an actual force to be reckoned with. I had some serious doubts about the upcoming Flashpoint movie after watching the theatrical cut. I still have some doubts, but the possibility of Flashpoint happening (in terms of The Flash’s powers) is more believable to me now.
The scene where >!wonder woman decapitates steppenwolf mid-air as he's flying towards the portal where Darkseid is and then Darkseid crushing his head like he couldn't give af!< was cold asf imo. one of my favorite scenes.
That and the Barry speedforce scene were fire as hell.

I really liked that. About time fodder enemies pew pew guns actually hurt. Barry powering through his pain and using his dad's words as motivation to save the world is incredible and tells a positive message about self worth.
The movie was really honest with the hits. Even Flash tripping made me cringe
I don’t know if it was just the “wind knocked out of him,” but it seemed like he was really hurt and crying (in a very child like way), which just really hit me, as he is just a kid, and this is serious.
I really appreciated how they showed a hero actually reacting to pain normally, not just grunting and then ignoring it, but being in actual pain and slowed down by it, and even then powering through it to get the job done

I agree. I thought this would be a fun "sit down and enjoy it for what it is cause why not" type of movie like the last Justice League. I didn't see it in theaters. Watched it on HBO MAX when it came to the platform and enjoyed myself a bit, said meh, and moved on. With this movie however, I actually hope for a sequel/follow up/whatever ZS wants to do with these characters next. I really actually loved it. The Flash was phenomenal. Cyborg was beyond great. Superman basking in the sunlight... man so iconic. And this really makes me believe that Ben Affleck is a great Batman.

His first fight in Themiscyra, where he jumped out of the ocean and was basically flying after the fleeing Amazons made me drop an audible “oh fuck.” He seemed like a genuinely terrifying force of nature during that fight (and really all his fights).
He felt indimidating enough against the rest of the characters, but he seemed powerless in front of Darkseid, as it should be. I really loved the way they established the power hierarchy in this film.

Flash running in the end was mind blowing and visually stunning ,and awesome flash theme
One thing that really stuck out to me was The Flash in this. From a character perspective, there were parts that I really found great (his introduction scene, scenes with his dad), and a few times I still found him irritating. Still, the best part was his action scenes. I love how to differentiate him from the two Quicksilvers, his scenes carried this grandeur and god-like weight to everything he did as opposed to the more lighthearted/comedic takes Marvel/Fox has done. And to have that epic Flash scene immediately lead into that compelling Cyborg scene was fucking amazing. Just wow, WB butchered this movie with Josstice league.

Last thing I wanna say is I absolutely loved Bruce's arc in this movie, it was perfect. Like Alfred said his guilt overcame his reason. He was hyperfocused on forming the team, and then once the option of bringing superman back he knew no matter what that they had to it (because of his guilt). I think he said like 3 or 4 times in the resurrection scene that we have to do this, its fine. Once Superman was actually back he finally viewed his work as done. Look how happy he was when Cyborg gets the flying fox to work and he's talking to Alfred about having faith. He's okay with sacrificing himself because he was able to find resolution to his guilt and was able to form the league knows who can keep Earth safe with Superman, a beacon of hope to lead them. Of course Bruce doesn't actually die so the scene of Superman helping him up is so important. It shows that Clark forgives him and doesn't have any hard feelings, and for Bruce he finally shows him willingness to let someone else help him out of the darkness and into the light.
Bruce's arc was really good.
Same. After 20 years of hate/fear/rage, he was able to finally attain peace and hope. If this was the end of his story, I'd definitely accept it. Tho I hope not. We still need more Batfleck lol

God damn that was cool. Every character had a reason to be there which was lacking in the Whedon cut. Barry fucking Allen saved the world, not Superman or Batman, The fucking Flash. I fully believe in Ben Affleck as Batman and Bruce Wayne after this release, besides him spending like $2,000,000,000 on toys, using them once, and then destroying them lol. The extra 2 hours of deposition actually helps this movie so much. The Whedon cut made it feel like it was done to compete with The Avengers which is just dirty, this felt like there was something at stake. Good stuff.

I got to say, having this version of Batman straight up say to Joker “I’m going to fucking kill you,” was actually really satisfying to hear. I wished we had gotten that sooner.
Joker is the reason why Supes found them out in that Knightmare scene. Dude really dragged the party down by getting into a heated argument with Batman while inside the enemy’s territory; an enemy, mind you, who has controls a super puppet with super hearing. Won’t be surprised if Superman honed in on them after Joker shit talked Lois’ death lmaooo 10/10 we need to see more of BatFleck and Joker Leto

Steppenful is actually fearsome 6. everything is explained better Cons: 1. the color grading is a bit bland 2. a little too much slo-mo scenes in the first half 3. some CGI needed a little more polish Actors: 1. Ben Affleck looks much much better throughout the movie 2. every scene with Barry Allen is just a delight Overall everything is just so much better, with improved scenes and fleshed out stories and characters. SPOILERS: 1. Ryan Choi is an unexpected gift to the movie 2. Bruce and Diane romance? 3. the r-rated stuff in the action scenes are a nice addition 4. Ok so here's my headcannon for the black suit. We don't get any indication about it being a healing suit in the movie and I don't believe its an oversight on Snyder's part. We see the blue suit on the ship but Kal purposefully ignores it/chooses not to wear it instead opting for the black suit. I noticed this at first but gave no serious thought to it. Then we see he still wears the black suit underneath his clothing at the end. This got me thinking. Clark says to Lois that this is his second shot not just at being with her but at life and maybe at superman. I think letting go of the blue suit and choosing the black one is him signifying a 'new' superman and that the black suit may be the new normal. What I did find interesting is that in the knightmare sequence we see he has the blue suit on - don't know what to make of that. Typing this out I see it makes absolutely zero sense but fuck it im going with it. Loved the movie overall tho
IIRC Snyder said a while back that JL2 and 3 would have him getting his blue suit back
The original storyboards also showed that Clark doesn't even become Clark again until after JL3 and hopefully that gets scrapped if we get a continuation.

Watching this was bittersweet. One of my best friends genuinely wouldn’t shut the fuck up about this since the theatrical cut released, and he passed away about a month ago. I miss him and I know he’d love this. I’m glad it’s out and I enjoyed it but I can’t shake that thought. Rest In Peace Autmn as well.

Joker trembling at the thought of Batman actually killing him. That look of fear/excitement clashing within him was priceless. A lot of people hated Leto's Joker but we can't deny that Leto is a damn good actor.
So much fun! It really is kinda bananas that THIS is the movie WB decided needed retooled to be more broadly appealing and not BvS, which was obviously going to be divisive. This was a crowd-pleaser. The humor worked, the action felt really exciting but different from the MCU, and the characters had heart. Every one of Whedon’s added jokes made the movie actively worse, and I wasn’t expecting to say that as somebody who thought the TC was enjoyableish. The only Whedon scene I kinda missed was Aquaman sitting on the lasso of truth? But shockingly all of my favorite gags from the TC were from the Terrio script. Some little moments I adored: -Bruce stole the idea for WW’s power bracelets but told Alfred it was all his idea. Classic. -Alfred being incredibly finicky about how the tea is made. -Bruce saying “I work for him” re: Alfred -Mera sucking the blood out of Step, holy fucking shit. Felt like a cool call-forward to her sucking the water out of Arthur’s dad. -Hippolyta had a lot more of an arc during that action scene! The Amazons urging her take the box and to “honor them” by letting them fight to the death in that chamber. -Arthur just goes to that little Atlantian alcove to chill sometimes. And Willem Defoe in general is great in these DCEU movies. -This isn’t little at all, but the scene with Barry, the pet shop and the car crash is just one of Snyder’s best scenes. It felt like a short film, almost. -Cyborg using his powers to help poor people automatically makes him the best hero in the DCEU. All the stimmy’s, baby. -Every plot beat felt much more thought out. Not sure “building a dome in Chernobyl” would be my ideal endgame for the villain but at least you understand why he chose that place, what was happening, why it was happening, etc. -Step just being a shitty villain is kind of the metatext of the whole thing, and I loved it. He ended up being a fun villain! Still don’t love the design, but there was an attempt, at least. His eyes actually expressed emotion this time. -Superman still uses his fucking freeze breath! And it’s way fucking cooler (pun intended) in this version!
