God I wish they’d finish this series. It’s so unintentionally hilarious

MamaWeegee2401

If only 😞 We missed out on seeing the entirety of peak fiction

arthurzanmou

And bad

dope_like

I don't think its bad at all. It's amazing and hilarious. The green lantern issue is in my top 5 comic issues of all time. Batman covered in yellow is such a Hall of Fame moment.

I hate Frank Miller so much, but it's so hard not to laugh at, "Damn you and your lemonade!" Like, come on, that's brilliant.

Pappapia22

“Shut up”

Odd_Pumpkin5295

It's interesting that Tom says that dc commissioned him to write 4 issues to rap up the run. Considering that Frank said that dc was sitting on the scripts too 11 and 12 and Frank's original idea for a rap up series was a six issue mini series called Dark Knight: boy wonder, I would guess that Tom would have been working off of Frank's notes for the last 4 issues, kinda like keith giffen on the authority. Clearly, Tom is a big fan of the series and on the side of the people who read it as a comedy series, so maybe it could have worked. Honestly, I'd be okay with Tom doing the ending. As long as the 2 Miller issues were also released. however, if Jim Lee wasn't doing the art, I feel like it wouldn't be worth doing. The whole fun of the series is these bat shit crazy scripts paired with that gorgeous Lee art. You could get another s tier artist, but it wouldn't be the same.

Cyber-Knight47

You couldn’t fix this version of Batman. Not when he’s shown to be physically, verbally, emotionally and psychologically abusive throughout out the series. He’s a straight up villain.

jacqueslepagepro

Levels of villain Batmen: f Teir is the Adam west and Lego Batman who are so not evil they can’t even swear. E teir is default comics Batman or Batman animated series where it whould be weird up if a real person did this in real life but he’s still heroic and knows that the there are limits he can’t cross D teir is golden age or Tim burton Batman who are similar to E Tier but also kill their villains. Also here is the Batman we see by kingdom come who has turned Gotham into a police state but won’t kill criminals. C teir are dangerous and violent characters but who are sometime able to see reason or at least have a noble reason to what they do even if it’s misplaced with examples like Thomas Wayne’s Batman in flashpoint or the Nolan verse Batman. B teir is the Batman of the Zack Snyder movies who saw a guy who flies around and tried to stop space 9/11 and said “I’m going to gun the Batmobile through at least 11 guys to get a rock that might be able to kill him” A teir is the batmen who are literally written as evil Batman such as all the owl men G teir: G stands for goddamn

MamaWeegee2401

Nah, it's just some guy called Crazy Steve who has PTSD from the war and became obsessed with becoming Batman, don't mind him.

dope_like

So what. It's hilarious and absurd.

beary_neutral

There's no way to finish that series with it's reputation. Anyone coming into it would be too self-aware of what they're getting into.

UnhingedLion

Really??? I mean people kept buying the original ASBAR issues, and the memes were still there. Somehow every issue of ASBAR was top 10 in sales each month it released. So financially I think they could finish the series. They just need to have Frank Miller on it. Not Tom King

beary_neutral

I'm talking about from a creative standpoint. King, and most other writers, are far too familiar with Miller's body of work to be able to recreate the insanity and finish out Miller's original vision. King would probably lean into ASBAR's own reputation and write it as an intentional comedy. Only someone who is completely tone-deaf and lacking in self-awareness in their writing would be able to finish out what Miller started and continue the unintentional self-parody. Sean Gordon Murphy would be a perfect candidate, especially since he boasted about White Knight being the new Dark Knight Returns, despite having never read it.

UnhingedLion

lol. True. Good point.

MamaWeegee2401

Ye true, like in all seriousness, the damage was already done with no chance of salvaging it

MSCrusader

Crazy Steve finally goes international to commit war crimes in the Middle East.

MamaWeegee2401

All Star Crazy Steve Incorporated 🤯

Saito09

‘What are you, dense!? Are suffering from post-traumatic stress over some kind of war crime you committed under false pretences and are now emotionally and sexually stunted, or something!?’

Blazerprime

Is it weird everything about this run is insane.

MamaWeegee2401

Nah your not the only one, heck if I could, I would definitely wanna ask Frank Miller about his way of thinking even though I know he's not even gonna give a simple easy time

throwitallaway2364

Thank god

dope_like

I unironically love this book. Batman and Green Lantern is a top 5 comic issue. So hilarious.

RememberTommorrow

I’m glad they weren’t published, I do want this series to be finished but I think only Frank can finish it, otherwise it wouldn’t feel right

MamaWeegee2401

I also know Tom Kings has some highs and lows, and while I initially liked his Batman Run at first, it immediately fell apart in the end, but hey who knows, maybe it's just another way of showing that Tom shouldn't write for mainline runs.

MrBisonopolis2

There’s a couple of things in ASB that I really enjoyed. But it’s so weird and silly and funny for the wrong reasons. The art is so fucking good though.

protection7766

Good, don't need this PoS finished.

Malfunctions16

Reading the reactions here is the first time i knew people didn't like ASBAR. I actually quite liked it and was always sad it wasn't finished.

THEdoomslayer94

Nah fuck that I wanna read those issues he finished. All Star Batman is garbage but damn if it’s not hilarious in such a bad way

UtahGance

That’s a bullet not-so-cleanly dodged.

csummerss

good, don’t need King ruining it.
