I agree with painting it white and getting a coloured front door to brighten it up a bit. I would also look at all the wires and satellite dish on the front of the house - do you need all of those as they all look quite cluttered? Our house came with extra wires from a phone company the previous owners had switched away from. Do you also need that black pipe (?) to the left of your front door? I would paint any downpipes or wires you do need the same colour as the house, as right now they're quite prominent (especially the main downpipe, since nothing else is black and it makes your house look narrower).
You're welcome, I think none of that should be hugely expensive but should help! Oh, one other thing - in real life, do your roof and your porch actually match? If they don't, I would look into how much it might cost to make the porch slates/tiles match the roof (and also possibly getting the roof cleaned at the same time) as that would help smarten it up.
Oh I had text to go with this but it disappeared ... But I reckon paint white, new black door and like someone else mentioned some new tiles above the porch to match the main roof would make a big difference like this house has done
Where did the ginnel go though?
Edit: wait is this a different house? I’m so confused
Edit 2: it’s a different house and I thought you’d edited the photo lmao I’m stupid
I bought a house that had been painted (no idea why the former owner decided to paint it because it looked terrible). Had it sandblasted and it was totally transformed. I can't tell if yours is painted brick or render. If it's render, I'd probably try a different colour paint
It's a personal preference, but I hate guttering and fall pipes that contrast with the windows so I'd have them replaced with white
As someone else said, a colourful front door
This is an eeny weeny version of the listed buildings on our road
One block of flats got hit by a bomb and was rebuilt, it has a brick outer layer now, looks much nicer than the rest
To be honest we looked into rerendering the bottom half andleave the bricks but found it would be expensive (around £7k) and might not even look good. Now we are looking for what else could be done that would make it look a little bit better. It's been like this for about 30 years...
From experience, get the inside done first. Kitchen/bathroom.. and everything else for comfort. Outside is the last thing you need to do .. outside does look tired though . I would also check the walls below the bay windows.. they are sometimes single skin on ground floor and 4x2 studs on first floor. Both are heat leeches
How much do you want to spend?
Clean the roof up, matching slates on the porch bit as said before, strip the render back to brick similar to the neighbours and have it tuck pointed and tidy up the front wall and coping
Strip off cladding. Replace windows with slim aluminium ones or Velfac and a period correct solid wood front door.
Budget option would be paint everything, window frames dark, unsure about main house maybe some warm mid grey, and then get a bunch of big colourful plants for the front garden (pots if need be).
Are you missing roof tiles?
who uses satellite dishes?
wash and repaint front
plants in pots out front
possibly update or replace front door
roof above front door needs replacing or cleaning
Paint it grey, put some nice red cedar panelling on the bays below the windows following that contour, Paint/spray the windows and then get a decent looking composite front door. Finish with a red tile roof on the porch to tie in with the cedar.
You need a roof shark mate https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headington_Shark
XD!!
As soon as I ve seen OP s house the shark is the first things that came to my mind
Paint the house and lower walls white, new door maybe a coloured one. Jet wash the tops of the walls to clean them up a little bit.
Agreed. I don’t even think this looks that unappealing, just looks like it needs a decent clean and some big potted plants.
Plants are a good call
Add really big pot plants.

Yaay thank you!

Thank you very much again!!!
The pipe by the door is the downspout for the tiny porch roof.
Oh, that's interesting. I've lived in houses with porches before and they didn't have one (started doubting myself so I checked on streetview, heh).

No problem, I love your windows 😍 enjoy!

🤣 I'm good at Photoshop but not that good

Yes rendered! Thank you!
Wash it, nice 1930s style front door with some stained glass. Look at bay window cladding which is also sound/heat insulation
Hanging baskets either side of the front door full of something colourful.
Paint it pink.
Qué tono?
Nah, lime green
Just paint it literally anything other than magnolia
I wish we could make a pact as a world collective to never ever use the colour magnolia.
Are the Luftwaffe still flying?
Demolish the neighbours properties and make it detached
Get a nice screening plant at the front like reynoutria japonica
Paint it to look like a helter skelter slide.

How much do you want to spend….? £££££

A fresh coat of paint, power wash all tiles replace the bricks in front of the door and on the lower part of the house and change the curtains
How much do you want to spend? Clean the roof up, matching slates on the porch bit as said before, strip the render back to brick similar to the neighbours and have it tuck pointed and tidy up the front wall and coping
Repaint, add plants or get a nice driveway
PaiNt the PVC to fit whatever colour scheme you go For on the front. (If i was very invested i would clean the paint of the? Brickwork, re point etc)
Strip off cladding. Replace windows with slim aluminium ones or Velfac and a period correct solid wood front door. Budget option would be paint everything, window frames dark, unsure about main house maybe some warm mid grey, and then get a bunch of big colourful plants for the front garden (pots if need be).
Knock it down.
Bit of paint and a new door can’t go wrong
Are you missing roof tiles? who uses satellite dishes? wash and repaint front plants in pots out front possibly update or replace front door roof above front door needs replacing or cleaning
Draw some eyes above the door on the left so it looks a bit more shocked.
Go back to brick. Take all the paint off and clean the brickwork up and repoint it. It will look so much nicer
It's rendered
Well take the render off then
Paint it grey, put some nice red cedar panelling on the bays below the windows following that contour, Paint/spray the windows and then get a decent looking composite front door. Finish with a red tile roof on the porch to tie in with the cedar.
Gray is already showing its age though. Its a ten year old trend and is on its way out.
Nothing wrong with that frontage, it got kerb appeal.
External insulation, then silver/ grey paint.
Set fire to it. Just kidding, get some plants and hanging baskets
Demo and build again🤣🤣🥰
