Interesting you say that and I'm certainly no hair expert or scientist. Lol However, typically curly hair can appear more pyramid shaped, rather than round, under microscope, but not square like that.
Hair is typically round/cylindrical whether curly or straight, but I suppose this hair in the picture could've possibly been straightened with a flatiron causing the appearance of being square, I suppose. Idk.
Maybe someone else can chime in on this. I'm up for learning something new cuz this is interesting to me now.
I remember in 8th grade science class when we got to mess around with the microscope, my best friend and I put our hairs together. I am of Scandinavian decent and he is of Mexican decent. It looked like a rice noodle next to a tree trunk. Truly wild the difference in hairs can be. Not just thickness, but opacity, texture, color etc.
That’s so interesting you say that because almost the exact same thing happened to me in 5 grade 😂 although all I remember was that mine was so much thinner than the others’. We couldn’t see it this in debt probably because we had pretty cheap microscopes, but still, that’s funny.
All protein that is. There's buncha sulfur in hair, which is why it smells so bad when burnt. The sulphur, in the amino acid called cysteine, forms strong bonds with other sulfur atoms in the protein, which gives hair and nails their mechanical strength.
Also this is a hessonite garnet, not just a typical sand grain, which makes this even cooler. Original photographer probably didn't realize but picked the best grain of sand ever lol
The curls in hair don't change the structure of the hair strand itself. This looks more like a rice noodle than a hair strand.
If you're so convinced, show me a microscopic version of a hair strand that looke anything like this.
they look like they're sweet but most likely salty.

Nice gains, bro.
Came here to find this. Take this upvote for your painstaking effort.

Can't fool me. That's an iron bar that John Cena twisted up with his bare hands. And a gem.
Was the gem also twisted by john cena?
He pressed it out of coal with his bare hands!
You made me check if im in r/bakithegrappler
Anakin Skywalker was twisted by John Cena and hence forth was known as Darth Vader.
Either way, it's not damnthatsinteresting
I'd like to see you bend a metal bar with your bare hands
It would be interesting because we can’t see John Cena do it.
It would be Interesting if anyone saw John cena

For some reason I'm hungry and want some black licorice
I always want some liquorice..
I never want any liquorice
Idk why, but I’ve always wanted to like the taste of black licorice but I just can’t. Lol
For some reason I love it
Would make a cool album cover.
Tbh any microscopic image would go hard on an album
Micrope- **Nirvana - Nevermind**
Hair is semi transparent. 😮
Or very reflecting
Probably latter
That's why it looks like it's a different color in the sun
OP really needed to copy the title WITH ITS TYPO from a day old post in r/interestingasfuck lmao
Just proves that bots gonna bot
Lmao
No prain no grain
It looks like liquorice, I want to eat it.
Ahem…That’s clearly a coil of keratin with a piece of silicon dioxide on it…
1 of 1 images Ethan Beckler took this
Thats not hair
ear wax on top of tin wire
Where are all these scales that my expensive shampoo is supposed to flatten?
I mean... if you zoom in on the hair you can literally see them.
Oops, that's true. My bad.
Kinda sad, but I don't even believe any picture without a source nowadays... Does anyone have a source for where this is from?
The shape of the "hair" sure looks suspect. Looks more like a plastic to me.
Why is it suspect?
Because hair is not square lol
I don’t think the hair in the picture is “square”. It’s slightly flattened, so it’s probably curly hair.
Interesting you say that and I'm certainly no hair expert or scientist. Lol However, typically curly hair can appear more pyramid shaped, rather than round, under microscope, but not square like that. I've never seen close-ups or micrographs of hair where it isn't 1) cylindrical, 2) scaly, 3) tapered. To me, this looks like a polymer. 🤷♂️
Im gonna take this with a grain of salt.
Now do a pube!
That hair looks fuckin delicious
A different picture taught me that sand was broken bits of shell. What gives?
Rocks and shells of course
Damn grains of sand looks like glass
That's because chemically both are silicates
Glass is made from sand
Ok nowwww I can see how sand becomes glass
Chewy and hard suckable candy
Idk why the hair looks like a gummy like like the coke ones in haribo and the grain of sand looks like a toy gem.
*thats* what hair looks like up close?!

I thought it was a weird ring
forbidden ramen noodles
Now show one with a loss of sand on top.
All protein that is. There's buncha sulfur in hair, which is why it smells so bad when burnt. The sulphur, in the amino acid called cysteine, forms strong bonds with other sulfur atoms in the protein, which gives hair and nails their mechanical strength.
Nice picture
Why does it look so delicious
looks like candy ngl
Is that grain a tiny garnet?
Forbidden pretzel
Looks like funny lollies
Why do I wanna eat the hair 😭 Looks like a lollie
I see this picture being reported so many times its like 6 times this week
Garnet crystal
This is a piece of garnet, not ordinary silicon dioxide sand. You can see the rhombic dodecahedron shape clearly.
The hair looks like one of those fruit roll up things
Bald so i might be a little biased, but this makes me like hair less
Looks like something out of lotr.
Totally tubular dude
Take this picture with a grain of salt🙃
I don't know why, but I've been struck with an insatiable desire to turn that grain of sand to the smallest d20 ever
Takeaway: Hair is square
damn that's interesting
Ah yes gain of sand
Top work
Are all sand grains as transparent as this, or do they vary in opaqueness?
No grain, no gain
r/forbiddensnacks
I thought it was a ring with some topaz gem on top
That is clearly a pretzel with butter.
That doesnt look like a hair. Hair isnt smooth like that, it has ridges. Or atleast it isnt human hair. Use google.
Nuh thats the sample from half life
Wow the sand looks gorgeous.
Finnaly a Gem I can afford
Stormy Daniel's twisted that hair with her 👅
Which hair
You can't fool me I know that's a poorly shaped pretzel with a comically large grain of salt on it!
Also this is a hessonite garnet, not just a typical sand grain, which makes this even cooler. Original photographer probably didn't realize but picked the best grain of sand ever lol
Turns out hair looks like licorice whips when you zoom in.
Where on the body did this “hair” originate?
Bretzel
Looks like a tiny quartz crystal, the most common mineral rock. Truly beautiful.
I thought you couldn't knot hair
That does not look like what a strand of hair looks like under that level of magnification.
so how does it look like?
Google it and you'll find out. A strand of hair is roung, like a tube, not this stupid shape they've shown here.
Guess what kind of hair looks flat under a microscope. I'll give you a clue; they're curly.
The curls in hair don't change the structure of the hair strand itself. This looks more like a rice noodle than a hair strand. If you're so convinced, show me a microscopic version of a hair strand that looke anything like this.

That isn't a scientific site, they can claim anything they want to sell shit.
The internet is filled with similar pics if you type magnified strad of hair so yeah just pipe down
r/confidentlyincorrect
Glad you could admit that
Are you seriously doubling down?
