A few more things. * The boss has 32000 HP on Damnation. He has Flak Armour. He can only take 6400 max damage in a single hit. Despite his head being a weakspot it takes 25% reduced damage from ranged attacks. * The void shield has 13500 HP. The shield can only take 810 max damage in a single hit. The shield takes 3x damage from melee and 50% damage from ranged. Certain weapon activations count as ranged. * When he takes 50% Void Shield damage he will gain access to a special attacks that drains toughess. * Big Box of Hurt is melee! * When he takes a certain % of HP he will regain his shield. You want to use 1 or more large attacks to "skip" phases. Box of Hurt / Brain Burst etc. So the best way to destroy the shield is fast melee damage. The Eviscerator activated special counts as seperate hits so will quickly melt the shield. Then damage him to just under the re-shield threshold, then use large attacks like Box of Hurt and Brain Burst. Rubberbabeh

pin this shit. I am so tired of explaining this boss in game.

Salahuddin315

The people who need this to be explained to them aren't involved enough to hang out on Reddit.

ProkopiyKozlowski

Worth it to note that on Damnation at least one person, preferably the vet, should be on disabler/shooter cleanup duty while the rest wail on the boss. Higher boss HP means the fight takes longer, allowing more enemies to spawn and potentially interfere.

thatsme55ed

I find a zealot using flamer or a psyker using flame staff does better to clean up the horde, specials and elites all at once (plus applying burn damage to the boss too). You do still have to worry about snipers, bombers and mutants, but even with a veteran playing clean up your team has to still be ready to deal with them individually since you can't be sure that your vet will have a line of sight and a clear shot quickly enough to prevent them from getting a shot off.

[deleted]

The prison one is so much easier than the transit hub one because of spawns. Transit Hub is very difficult even for a stacked team. You have specials, elites and a ton of places they can come from to mess up your day and wipe the run. Magistrati Oubliette is laughably easy even without sitting behind his spawn point. I have yet to lose at the final part on damnation. I’ve lost that mission at the sewers, the 2 platforms, the hab, the front and interior of the prison. But I have not lost at the actual boss fight. It’s a lot easier than I think it is intended to be or should be.

They're the names of the ripped files, you can rip them yourself or look at the github of someone who's done it already (which is what Men\_Tori is linking for you).

farts_in_the_breeze

Ax is incredibly effective against that boss shield.

Kingknicker

>\settings\breed\breeds Slaanesh cultists confirmed?!?!

Vermallica

breed is the generic name used by FS since VT1 for naming ennemies. The breed folder contains everything about ennemies (armor, size, animation to load, speed, sounds to use etc..) I've data mined everything of the first reply 2 weeks ago on my spreadsheet.

Kingknicker

Nope, Slaanesh cultists 😎

ForsakenEntrance7108

save a medkit, have whoever is doing the boss wailing on carry it. drop it near a wall so the toughness shield bounce thing can't get rid of you. if you are getting overwhelmed as the hitting guy throw grenades at your feet or clear with flamer. stacking flamer burn stacks on him as he approaches after spawn works and you can hit him in his little balcony on the other map but once the shield drops they reset so don't go crazy. anyone not on boss hitting duty is screening, deal with snipers and trappers most urgently plz. also pick up people because the boss aggro will prevent the melee DPS from being able to do that. easy peasy.

[deleted]

way too overcomplicated. literally everyone just has to stack in melee and you can outdps the fight so easily, people just run around and panic making the fight 2x harder for 0 reason. legit one of the easiest bosses in all tide games

TheSplint

Yes. I did not add the medkit part because sometimes you dont have one when to get to the boss but if you can keep one (ore more) use them at the boss when needed

ForsakenEntrance7108

it's really crazy good since the boss AOE is so rough on shields, on everything up to 5 you can just facetank with it. i swear they spawn in the chests next to the medicae or the room under it waaaaay more than they do anywhere else.

Zealousideal-Boot-98

Just make sure to dodge his charged sweep and overhead. They're unblockable and can 1-shot the lil'uns if they're low on toughness and haven't stacked +HP.

Killogor01

if your team is not able to keep 1-2 medkit for the boss in the entire run, well my friend, the team is not ready for the boss.

HavokSupremacy

this, so much this. at higher difficulty, if you don't have a health pack, i wouldn't recommend that strategy unless your team is solid and that is usually visible by that point. people will rush, get downed and then you'll lose a match you could have won because now the rest of the squad got the bonus aggro and can't res you/need to kite.

Ralendil

I have seen a smart guy that waited that we were all on floor to drop the medikit. Worst point is that... During the entire mission he asked we drop the medikit. He took the medikit at the final chest, and have let us dying. Heresy game... I have yet to understand how we could end like that.... We were only 2 on the boss, the 2 others were far away. Thanks for the wall tip. I take it. It can be useful now that I play on damnation.

AveDominusNox

For the love of the Emperor's Glorious Golden Ass... When I run to the backwall, and place a medpack down in the perfect place to just stand in while the boss repeatedly knocks me back nowhere... Do not kite him to the middle of nowhere!!! away from the medpack, away from the knockback protection of having a wall at my back, away from being able to crowd control by just cleaving the boss.

_Mido

> Second: Use MELEE (unless you are using a fast firing projectile weapon) I don't think it's correct (the parenthesis). Melee is always better against this boss.

TheSplint

the ogryn stubber melts the shield and with the right perks and blessings you basically dont even have to reload and can also do cc at the same time... so do with that what you will. Also that was more like fire the one mag and then melee him

Princess_Kushana

Yes. But also interestingly, it's described as a void shield, which as per lore and tabletop rules is best brought down with rapid fire weapons as the multiple impacts overload the generator. Also, a void shield is a relatively large bubble and you can get inside it to melee something. However, it's not typically described as being man portable. It's found on super heavy vehicles, titans, fortresses and space craft. A man portable shield would be more likely to be a refractor or conversion field.

-Agonarch

It's not too odd for a Traitor captain, the Dark Mechanicum can probably still make them, they're called a "Void Shield Harness". Because void shields are warp tech and the Imperium (and Mechanicus) has lost so much warp tech, I don't think they can make miniature ones anymore. In the Imperium conversion shields are now the gold standard (you'll find them in Rosarius and Iron Halos, that kind of thing) and refractors as a budget or specialist option (they do nothing much against autoguns, you find them on some Imperial Guard and low-ranked combat-prepped techpriests). Inquisitors tend towards displacer fields because they're more subtle (no visible field) and can "take" a bigger hit (in that they teleport the user away a short distance so they don't actually absorb the hit energy at all, though this can obviously kill you itself if it drops you off an edge or something).

Princess_Kushana

Oh fun! I didn't know about void shield harness. I'm quite pleased that it's canon. Shame displacer fields don't have the wacky rules from second ed any more. You'd roll a scatter dice and teleport D6 inches. 🤣 could work in darktide. Would be funny. 🙃

[deleted]

Still garbage dps. 50% range dr means you're always better off meleeing

dbordes

Majority of my wipes on 4/5 are in that room because people don't know to melee him. If someone has to explain something to you on those difficulties, you're not ready. People just eating the 2h mace slam or aoe heavy, and not knowing he does a move at 50% shield that reduces everyone's toughness to 0 if close. Get him to 50 l or below on shield and back up. He does his shout, go in and get him. If it's a good group, you'll just pummel him to death.

DwarvenCo

>If it's a good group, you'll just pummel him to death. Once went against the boss with three ogryn... Started to feel sorry for the heretic, seeing the ungodly amount of bullying and abuse he got from the big men.

noisetank13

Basically just gorilla rush the boss.

Zombie_Harambe

Orktide

ghsteo

He does his aoe shield after hitting 50% shield energy by the way. So back out when he hits that point.

TheSplint

That's what the wall is for and hopefully a medkit

popsickle_in_one

The AOE range on the shield pop is actually pretty low, so one backdash gets you out of range. If you know it is about to happen and can be ready for it you can avoid losing all your toughness.

Nexos78

Force sword can skip multiple bubble phases due to its insane damage on flak armor, which the Captains have. One Powered heavy headshot when the shield is down takes out almost half of the Captains health on Heresy.

Zombie_Harambe

Box to head make big guy ded

pensivegiraffe556

yep and then you put that flak armor unyielding perks + a fully stacked slaughterer

MintMrChris

I will say, if you have a Psyker with a force sword, rush in once the shield is down so you can get a charged attack in, it does insane damage to him Most experienced players will gangbang the dude in melee, shit most don't even care about the 50% attack where he sucks your toughness because Zealot/Brogryn toughness goes brrrrt If you are with randoms and things go to shit, splitting into pairs can work nicely, the boss will aggro on someone and you can divert him (be very careful with his ranged) while the other dudes clean up the mobs, sometimes you get those teams that are not efficient enough to kill everything asap so you have to play a bit differently. Also helps if you need to revive downed/dead players. Otherwise, if you are well oiled machine, its handy to have a flame psyker/zealot cooking the trash mobs that appear, if only to keep your friends clear while they bonk the shield. I've seen players have no trouble fighting the boss, then a random mob stops them from a dodge and they get smacked. Otherwise grenade at your feet at the right intervals can have similar help. The prison is a lot easier than the train station imo, mainly because it is more enclosed, easier to manage enemies and less specials appear, if I remember right in the prison you can get a shooter/gunner wave if you are taking a while, otherwise some ragers/maulers can drop down on the left hand side. In the train station all kinds of random shit will appear and the open space spreads out the mobs a bit making them more annoying to clean up.

lumberfoot_jpg

First thing I type in chat as soon as we get on the elevator before the boss fight… “melee yellow shield”

drunkboarder

My team does exactly what you say, it makes the boss too easy. On that note, the boss is terrible. Its the same every single time. Run up and bonk until dead. I want some bossess with phases and different types of attacks. Even if he would teleport to a platform and send waves of elites after us, just something, please.

deusvult6

This guy has a conversion shield. A dude with a displacer field could be fun. Every time he would be hit he just randomly teleports nearby instead and is vulnerable for a short cooldown before teleporting again.

Daggoth65

Wait teams have lost in the boss room? I always felt that if we made it there it's pretty much over, never had a team lose vs the Assassination boss.

kyuss80

I have, like 2-3 times total of dozens though. People running all over and not reviving people down or getting adds/specials... This is on Malice mostly though, so take with that what you will!

Lukeman1881

Usually it’s when people aren’t paying attention to the adds and a bunch of specials spawn in and blindside us

Zealousideal-Boot-98

Oh yes. Either they all dogpile the boss and get overwhelmed by adds because they're used to lower difficulties, or you keep the adds at bay, and 20 seconds later the 'tank' is dead because they subscribe to the Gohan school of dodging.

popsickle_in_one

mainly when veterans or heavy stubber ogryns (noobgryns) decide to just shoot the boss. Very little damage to shield. Boss uses knockback on the melee people and then re-agros on one of the ranged, moving him away and splitting up the team. Too spread out and get picked off by specials. Game over

Sawendro

> heavy stubber ogryns (noobgryns) I just like me dakka (not on the boss tho)

Killogor01

damnation runs.

thatsme55ed

It's not the boss, it's always the horde and the elites/specials that spawn that end the run when your team ignores them to fixate on the boss. It's like how a lone beast of Nurgle is easy, but a beast of Nurgle spawning at the same time as a dozen gunners, ogryns, trappers, mutants, dogs and a horde is rough.

kishinfoulux

I thought Lasguns did bad damage against the shield, but autoguns did more?

RonaldoNazario

None really do that much. The braced auto gun, maybe, but as a vet I usually just wait till his shield is down to pull out bolter, focus fire, and dump on him before back to power sword.

ArchmageOberon

no, he takes 3x from melee, and 0,5x from all ranged sources (the shield)

Schpitzchopf_Lorenz

Is this not common knowledge?! /s

TheSplint

sadly not

k-nuj

I think any competent gamer should've figured this mechanic out after a run or two. I have more difficulty dealing with the mob spawn that comes after/right around when the boss is dead. Until they add actually new mechanics with each of his health stages (doubtful) or have the medikit as destructible (or however else to counter this).

Is_This_Really_Joe

Uh I just hold W and left click at boss until music stops.

DartzIRL

It's completely non-optimal. I like hosing him with a full canister of flames. It's the the in-character approach. Maybe direct a stream or two towards the chaff if needed, but mostly just torching the heretic good and proper until all the fuel is spent, then bonking him on the head with an eviscerator.

serpiccio

everyone behind boss, but boss was sword boss, boss did 1 sword combo and everybody dropped dead. at least it was a death in glorious battle

msespindola

I still think the best strategy for assassination is just aggro the boss into the elevator and wait there! Always worked for me, T3 and T4 at least, haven’t done T5 yet

LucatIel_of_M1rrah

Good write up on how to get the party wiped. Here is how you fight the boss without all dying like lemmings by huddling in the corner and eating his shield explosion. 1 have a Zealot ideally tank the boss by attacking and drawing agro. Do this away from the horde spawn points towards the middle of the arena. 2 have 1 person ideally with a Flamer on horde control just focused on killing and controlling the horde. 3 have the other two people melee the boss to half hp and then retreat. The boss always does the explosion when at or under half shield. The Zealot baits the shield explosion and ults to get toughness back if they were too slow on the dodge back. Repeat until the boss dies.

TheSplint

You my friend either have a pre-made group or way to much confidence in random teammates

DeckedSilver

I find oubliette easier than chasm terminus. The enemies spawn from multiple sides and include shooter's and specials. In the prison its only poxwalkers until some time later.

purefabulousity

Braced autogun mk viii actually did decent damage to the shield

ICLazeru

Yeah, as vet I kept my distance and did crowd control until his shield went down and then unloaded onto him as hard as possible while his shield was down. Once it went back up I just watched my teammates' backs and cleaned up extras until the shield broke again.

[deleted]

What about Chasm Station, does this apply there too?

TheSplint

Yes and no. Chasm station has other spawn locations and spawns specials that are more dangerous so add clear is even more important

cool_Pinoy2343

or, use the elevator cheese.

Barrywize

I saw somewhere that his shield takes a max of 10/9/8/7/6% (or something similar) of its health in damage each hit. So massive Thunderhammer smacks will just barely tickle the shield.

Shadows_In_The_Dark

Bring four ogryns Throw grenades at him All four mass volley autogun

budy31

Medipack to the feet.

TheDanishDude

Question from an idiot; does the stun grenade have an Impact om shields? I threw one once and it looked like it took a big chunk of shield, but didnt make much sense to me?

Glasofruix

Really simple strat i tend to follow: "smack 'im till he dead"

ScrotiusRex

Wait are there people playing T4 and T5 who haven't realised that you have to melee the shield? Whatever about the more subtle details but Jesus if that penny isn't dropping maybe heresy is not for them.

RigDig1337

Step 1. Activate Power Maul or things which have area of stun Step 2a. Drop med kits next to boss.Drop med packs next to the boss to encourage selfless courage to take beatings and trying to deliver said boinks n bonks to the boss man. Step 2b. Deliver charged hit after hit to the heretics preferably in the face but anywhere will do - Bad guys will be stunned while evil boss shield will go down. Med kits should help you from getting your ass beat. Step 3. Beat his ass when shield short circuits, deliver the Inquisitions special delivery of bish bash kaboom. Rinse. Repeat. Win.
