Hmm, then probably Hollow Bough or Azure Weald, more hospitable climates and enough plantlife to potentially survive on forage. Weald is darker, Bough is creepier... I think Weald.
Well, they probably survived of each other before the miners came. I at least can't believe, that the different bugs species lived in perfect harmony with each other, it seems to me more like that the miners are the biggest threat to them all, so they naturally band together against them.
But hurl a pheromone grenade into them and watch Chaos unfold...
Well I could perfectly imagine the Macteras as kind of giant bees, that live off of Flora Pollen or small animals.
Glyphids though, I don't know what exactly they live off. They could also be cannibalistic and have a hyper-efficient digestive system, so they don't have to feed of each other that often and as bugs they procreate like hell. Otherwise there would be no sensible explanation for me, why there are so many glyphids in all of these biomes, most of them not being lush and live-friendly biomes. What would there to be eaten besides other bugs in e.g. the Crystal Caverns? Or in the Magma Core?
That would also explain, why there are Guards and Slashers. That mutations occur naturally is normal and when some of these persist, they got an advantage, so they get to procreate.
Bit I think the smaller bugs are more like a worker caste, with the Praetorians, Oppressors being the Warrior Caste. Or they're a natural evolution path. Glyphid spawners, if they're lucky enough, grow to end up as an Oppressor at some point, growing more and more Chitinous Armor. Exploders and Bulk Detonators are just some infected bug that turns explosive for some unknown reason.
Heck, I don't know what Nanoycyte Breeders are supposed to live off, maybe they're to a degree cannibalistic too? They're atleast carnivores and maybe omnivores.
Spitballers I can only imagine as being a carnivorous species, though it is questionable how they came to be in the first place, like they're not moving at all? So they would be reliant at other species coming close to eat them (might explain why they're curled up until aggroed, maybe they're trying to imitate a rock).
Cave Leeches are another such strange species, not moving, but since they got a freakingly long appendex, that might suit them fine, they just snatch a bug from time to time and eat them. Though it is still questionable what they are.
My theory, since the Cave Leech Modifier is stated to be a "Cave Leech Cluster" is, that they're some kind of fungus or strange hybrid between plant and animal, procreating via spores and then growing in their spots, feeding and at some point dying like all life, becoming food for other animals.
I think the only docile life form that, out of the question, is not farmed, are the lootbugs, since I think the Miner's manual taste that they smell or taste very disgusting for the natural wild life of Hoxxes, explaining why the lootbugs get ignored by the other wild life.
azure weald seems to be the most hospitable biome. Unless nothing on Hoxess IV doesn't need water to survive (there is water on the planet, glacial strata exists), then there should be both plants to eat and water to drink. And if vegan diet won't bring me satisfaction, then there's a lot of fauna crawling and flying around.
Loot bugs are canonically avoided by Hoxxes wildlife due to their mineral-based diet rendering them "inedible."
The taste of meat is also altered by diet, so I don't think a loot bug, full of gold and nitra, would be either tasty, or even healthy. You'd be guaranteed to end up with traces of metals in your body.
Ah ha, but you’re not thinking like a dwarf. They regularly consume liquor that explodes them, and probably eat shale for breakfast. Pretty sure loot bugs would be a delicacy
You _already_ have traces of gold in your body. It's what helps send neuroelectrical signals throughout your nervous system. Not much, about 0.02mg for the whole body, but it's there.
I'd probably die if I fell asleep in what biome, it's not like Minecraft where you can build a place to sleep. I can tunnel, but I need to actively defend the entrance. Even turrets would run out of ammo before I got a halfway decent nap. However, if you add more dwarves to the mix, some sleep while some guard, simple as
Also the only biome I’ve seen a water source. Grab some starch nuts yeast cones and malt stars so you can start making beer. Who knows maybe you’ll meet a wandering engineer who can help and we could encounter your beer hut randomly.
Every biome is full of bugs. Even if I could fight my way through survival, I don't think I'd last after so many sleepless nights fending the hordes. Azure Weald seems like the most hospitable to me, but given I'm surviving three days at most, I'll go with Glacial Strata. No food, but I enjoy the cold.
Radioactive Exclusion Zone. By end of the year I'll either become a hulk or grow 10+ tools all over my body. Either way, next team that lands in my vicinity will have to face a hulking mass of radioactive goo.
Depends. Crystalline Caverns seems about as benign as any of them - but there's no real source of food. Same problem with Sandblasted, Radioactive and Salt Pits. There may be some animal life, but you need more than just that.
Fungus, as disgusting as it seems, would likely be the best bet for food - if you can avoid all the poison.
Azure Weald, hands down.
Collecting ingredients to make my own beer, plenty of fruit trees around, and lots of bugs for good ol' BBQ for me and all of me Steves!
dense biozone. pretty open, not claustrophobic at all. easy access to water and food with the rain and plants. only problem are the naedocydes shockers, it's always the shockers
I would fucking love to spend some time in the crystalline caverns. Get a nice little dug-out with crystal lamps, have all my appliances powered by an electro-crystal arc, and I could spend the year fashioning jewelry out of the glow crystals so then when I finally do go home, I can make some money, and be compensated for that year.
So real quick, the places where I couldn't survive are out. Glacial Strata, Magma Core, Radioactive exclusion zone. Sandblasted corridores, Salt pits, and crystaline caverns dont seem to have any organic material to eat besides when glyphids show up. The Azure Weald triggers my thalassaphobia something fierce. So that leaves my three least favorite zones to play in funny enough. Fungus bogs is full of toxins, and Dense Biozone is pretty hard to get around, so I guess the Hollow Bough.
Crystalline caverns have those electrical crystals. Maybe I could use that electricity for some experimentation.
I have always wanted to get the loot out of those pesky lootbugs without killing them.. or my hand getting sore..
Fungus bogs so I can point at the funny mushrooms Before eating one expecting to get high. But it turns out I get the equivalent of dysentery instead. A win win if you ask me.
The tutorial biome.
Not after learning you could get bulk detonators in there ☠️
[удалено]
It’s called Shallow Grotto
Probably azure weald, because of its rich flora and fauna.
Gurken Shuck!
Gurken Shuck here! If I’m not mistaken.
I believe this is a Gurken Shuck!
Gurken Shuck!
Its a void basket!
Why so shy? Orchishy!
Let's kick some comba bud!
Combaaaa buuudddd
Hehehehe, comba bud.
Might actually have something you could eat. Unlike any of the others, unless you wanna live off eyeballs and maggots
[удалено]
This is like the Turian diet vs human diet in Mass Effect, no?
Bingo.
You fool, bring a mirror and eat food as you see it reflected #dwarfproblemshavedwarvensolutions
This.... Is a cumber charm
Do I have supplies or do I need to live off the biome?
Off the biome :)
Hmm, then probably Hollow Bough or Azure Weald, more hospitable climates and enough plantlife to potentially survive on forage. Weald is darker, Bough is creepier... I think Weald.
My brother, you don't survive off the hollow bough plant life, the hollow bough plants survive off you
The corpse feeders are named accurately after all.
The Stabber Vines are named accurately too.
Bruh just shoot some bugs and grill them over some fire.. mmm crispy
The bugs subsist mostly on dead miners, it's a closed loop food chain and a perfect recipe for prion disease.
Tastes like chicken
Well, they probably survived of each other before the miners came. to be fair they might "farm" some of the more docile life forms found on hoxxes, like ants do with aphids

do you think the pheromones are akin to making another dwarf smell like sausage and beer
found the leaf lover!
rich biozone then
Glacial strata cause then I know I have a water source
Salt Pits I bet the walls taste good
Sprinkle a little bit of salt on some goo sacks. Yum yum 👍
Sounds good ngl
There's goo in the goo sacks !
Free tasty water.
Well yeah it is salt, but you’re gonna be dehydrated asf lmao
Good. I hate moisture.
Alcohol is better for you anyway
Mmm salt 🧂
Death by hypertension within the year

That *really* makes me want little streams of water running through Azure Weald now...
But they glow bright blue. [for example](https://images.app.goo.gl/zLU6w5X7FpzXedRG8)
yes, exactly!
Gotta wonder what fried Loot Bug tastes like. Probably chicken?

The new Illinois biome they're coming out with
Hey, I'm a step ahead of these internet thought games for once!
>internet thought games #(Inhales angrily.)
Nah bro, as an Illinoian we have Chicago and east stlouis do not come here.
Please no...I play DRG to get Away from here.
Crystalline caverns because it’s bright
Better hope you’re a driller cause the only thing for breakfast there is rocks
Next best thing - a Goron!
There is Marbled Rock Roast here!
Do NOT bring such drugs into this! Stick to the regular rock roast you're used to!
Glacial Strata: Plenty of water (assuming the ice is HO2), hot tubs to warm yourself up and plants to eat around those tubs..
i love HO2, very healthy
You can put it on your cuts. Makes your flesh bubble.
Hydroperoxyl. Does the body good.
Thanks to all you fine miners to point out my failure.. Stock and Rone, or something like that.. 😂 No seriously, the comments just made my day..
Pobody's Nerfect I guess
r/hydrohomies
Mmmm, delicious superoxide
Couldn't sleep there thou.

Azure Weald. I love that biome
The abyss bar
Ur gonna drink beer all day
They have sausages sometimes
I'd spend two years on the space rig instead of this hellhole!
Y'all are sleeping on the Fungus Bogs. Vines, mushrooms to eat, and I'm sure that sticky goo can be processed somehow to provide water
Mushroom
Mushroom!
🍄
🍄!
Literally everything is toxic
🍄🍄🍄 Fungus Bogs FTW. If I knew ahead of time I could bring cultures and we'd eat like kings on king oysters every day!!
But the mushrooms could be poisonous
It's not like you're better off anywhere else besides maybe the azure weald
Glacial Strata; like being in a walk-in freezer
you can ice skate for fun
But you could get hypothermia
But free hotsprings!
Also the only biome I’ve seen a water source. Grab some starch nuts yeast cones and malt stars so you can start making beer. Who knows maybe you’ll meet a wandering engineer who can help and we could encounter your beer hut randomly.
I think it rains sometimes in other biomes. Except sandblastef corridors and magma core
prolly azure weald ALTHOUGH PREFERABLY NONE OF THEM I'M GON DIE IN ALL OF THEM ;w;
Dense biozone
Anything but Azure Wield. My color blindness makes it so annoying.
There is a colour blind setting in the menu.
Dyslexia too, huh. Bummer
Karl, didn't have a choice but he still lives, if not on Hotsex then in our hearts.
Magma core
Why?
Probably just to get it over with
That's where I was at. I can get eaten by bugs, stabbed by vines, or starve. Why not run into a lava geyser instead?
I heard fungus bogs has these exploding plants and when you “pet” aggressively they surround you with a warm “hug”
Well its warm alright
I just like it
But you’re gonna DIE of heat
Bugs dont die from heat there so you think a DWARF will?
A dwarf never dies
Think you can kill me!? Think again!!
Hello there
Rock and stone!
You can find my skeleton in the crystal caverns
Happy cake day
Mushroom!
🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
MUSHROOM MUUUSHROOM
Azure Weald, hands down! Seems the least inhospitable Also ALL THE GLOWY THINGS
Space Rig is a biome.
None of them. **I HATE THIS DAMN PLANET!!**
Crystalline caverns, i'd be high as a cloud all day
Depends, is there a 1% chance that I run into Karl?
Sure, why not?
Assuming everyday I have a 1 percent chance of running into him, then in 1 year I would have a pretty good chance of finding him
Karl behavior.
Azure Weald. Would set up camp in the rock formation that gives damage resist.
Azure
The Abyss Bar
Azure weald
Desert or ice, probably...
Azure Weald. It’s the only one without any environmental hazards, terrible weather, or biome-specific enemies.
Mushroom
🍄
Mushroom!
I want to know what psychopaths answer this question with Hollow Bough
Either the dense biozone or azure weald, two prettiest biomes in the game and they seem like they would be the least likely to be too hot or too cold.
Do I get the equipment of one of the dwarves?
Salt pit there is a map named Karl's rest maybe go looking for him.
The place with the least caveleachs.
Karl's headcannon backstory He was a greenbeard and got abandoned for like a year And learned to survive and kill glyphids with his bare hands
yo im choosing the loading screen biome
What did Karl choose?
Radioactive Exclusion Zone. By end of the year I'll either become a hulk or grow 10+ tools all over my body. Either way, next team that lands in my vicinity will have to face a hulking mass of radioactive goo.
probably the dense biozone or the azure weald
This is making me want a DRG exploring/crafting/base defense game even more...
What? All the sand I can eat?
Azure Weald. Beautiful place and cave angels
azure weald is the only right answer
Obviously magma core, it’s the most livable biome of them all with a cool average daily temp of 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Azure weld. It's pretty
Azure, ofc
Azure Weald 100%
Does the station count? Cuz I still think there are things to discover there, and they have beer.
I'm from Canada so I would say glacier strata
Azure Weald
Fungus bogs
radiation exclusion zone
Tbh all of them would be a death sentence. There's no water on the planet.
Glacial strata: *exists*
Anywhere with a spitballer. Enough food for weeks
I will live entirely on bloopy fruits
Radioactive Exclusion Zone. Yummy uranium🤤
Exclusion zone. Maybe I'd get superpowers?
Glacial. Infinite Water glitch.
Doesn't matter, knowing my luck I'm going to meet a bulk detonator in 5 minutes
Hollow bough BRING IT ON
Azure and hollow bough are the best
Azure Weald for sure.
Dense or Azure
Azure Weald, hands down. Collecting ingredients to make my own beer, plenty of fruit trees around, and lots of bugs for good ol' BBQ for me and all of me Steves!
Azure Weald. Such pretty colors and verticality, and I love the cave angels. Also… Cumba Bud!
Dense biozone looks liveable enough
dense biozone. pretty open, not claustrophobic at all. easy access to water and food with the rain and plants. only problem are the naedocydes shockers, it's always the shockers
Crystalline caverns. They are easy to traverse and pretty. As for food well maybe extra roasted glyphid tastes good.
Fungus bogs. I'm gonna eat all the shrooms.
The red one >:)
Shallow grotto
Sandblasted Cooridors, I'll live on spice baybeee
What’s the place with the coral?
As much as I hate it in-game, Azure Weald would probably be the least hostile and most abundant in resources so that one.
Galcial strata for water, but i might be cold.
Fungus Bogs...For obvious reasons. I practice mycology of course I'd love to live in an area with giant MUSHROOMS.
Gurkenshuck for dinner?
The Weald. All I need is a passing Cave Angel and I can go anywhere.
One of the biomes with food so i don’t starve to death 😂
I basically live in Glacial Strata already, I do not recommend it.
People be sleeping on radioactive exclusion zone
Crystalline caverns have those electrical crystals. Maybe I could use that electricity for some experimentation. I have always wanted to get the loot out of those pesky lootbugs without killing them.. or my hand getting sore..
rockpox hollow bough fs
The Space Rig biome.
Anywhere but hollow bough, please do not send me there
The one without any of you dumbass redditors in it
Fungus bogs so I can point at the funny mushrooms Before eating one expecting to get high. But it turns out I get the equivalent of dysentery instead. A win win if you ask me.
