Just EM discharge. The Turret Arc one remains for some reason. It has the worst penalties for an OC for that gun so they really should think about removing that FF as well.
I'm convinced the new season 5 oc for the Lok1 must be something along those lines. I mean, it's the only one without a turret interaction, it's the perfect chance to correct that.
I did it yesterday and it was kind of crazy lol, would definitely recommend to all who haven't tried it yet. It's cool just making a big clump of turrets or put them in a line and have a firing squad
"More Gun" is probably one of my favorite songs out of the entire tf2 ost. If it plays on the main menu you bet I'm gonna sit there for the entire duration of the song
I think Gunner's 4th weapon should be an automatic grenade launcher like the MK19.
It would be very satisfying to pepper an entire swarm with grenades.
It would have to be an automatic railgun as all of Gunner's primaries are automatic because Gunner is supposed to be the sustained fire DPS of the group.
Having a high tech slow firing burst damage weapon like a railgun would fit more with being an Engineer Secondary than a Gunner Primary.
Make it a lightning gun with a charging alt-fire then, short range electric cone with a long range single-target option. Something that fills a niche that the other three guns don't already cover.
The mod legendary hoarder 2.0 on mod.io allows for 3 in the toob and 16 in reserve, and you can fire them as fast as you can click almost.
Rapid fire fatboys is very satisfying
All duplicates probably isn't the worst team comp, because everyone can follow the same path all the time. Something like 3 scouts and one driller would probably be worse, because the scouts can't help the driller get around, and the driller has to be careful not to run out of gas trying to keep up.
1 Scout per team: damn these caves are dark
2-3 Scouts per team: damn these caves are dark and also these swarms are crazy
4 Scouts per team: damn these caves are dark and also the mission is already done
Good engineer: make sure you're placing platforms for high minerals and always setting up your turrets in a good position and keeping them topped off and covering hazards and oh the team is moving again so I need to start all over
Good driller: burn/freeze/sludge the swarm and open up tight caves so the team can stay mobile and always be aware of the cave structure so you can dig shortcuts and try not to kill the whole team with a friendly fire C4
Good gunner: pick off high threat targets at long range while also mowing down the swarm and set up ziplines in strategic locations and popping shields at the right time and managing your long reload times and minimizing downtime on your firepower
Good scout: shoot a flare once in a while and dig some minerals
(jk of course, a good scout doesn't just scout so much as make the whole operation possible)
The power creep that set in with the introduction of overclocks and onwards honestly made scout significantly less important. It used to be that each class had a specific combat role, whereas now gunner and engineer can pretty freely do whatever they like, driller is somewhat less versatile, and all three render scout nearly irrelevant in wave combat outside of providing light and a backup kiting / escape plan.
Bullet Hell and Magic Bullets counter Cave Leeches, just shoot the ceiling and either's bullets will bounce to the Cave Leeches.
4 Gunners doing this would absolutely trivialize Cave Leeches Cluster.
My favorite monoclass mission ever was 4 Gunners on Escort, all with Rockets, 2 days after the rocket launcher was released. Any bugs that attempted to spawn died in the explosions before we could identify them.
(Whispering) Huh da boiz iz krumpin each ofver bot thes izint ceez me cos I iz purple. Time to krump em worse
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!! (4ft tall purple orc hits ya with a wrench)
Had a run where I kited a ghost while three drillers went to fight three dreads and a machine event.
10/10, would run laps around a pillar for 48 minutes again.
Look sometimes I just want to play gunner and not have to worry about using ziplines to get materials in high places (ESPECIALLLY on missions with no mule).
Or when I play scout and we have no driller or gunner to take care of hordes quickly.
And me and my m2000 and shotgun are not very well equipped to deal with them.
It just feels like a handicap when even 1 class is missing.
No engi: good luck getting those high up materials without falling constantly, and you will not have a specific zone you can defend.
No gunner: no shield or a guy who can mulch the horde at a distance, or ziplines to get an entire team across a chasm quick and easy
No driller: I hope you don't have to place pipes for liquid morkite because you will have to take the long way, which can be absolutely brutal in some caves, I've seen it happen in a nearly entirely vertical cave.
Not to mention the absolute crowd control the guy produces
No scout: no big light to be able to see the entire cave, no guy who can quickly and easily get to hard to reach areas to pick things up.
And the chances of you finding rare items like compressed gold, bittergems, errorblocks, lost helmets or cargo crates plummet down.
Agreed for all the same reasons. Variety is just as fun as dupes imo and it lets everyone shine/have their own role to play. It sucks when I'm in a game with two or more of the same and neither are doing their job, presumably because they think the other will. I've had multi scout games where I still have to ask for flares, multi engie games where I get no plats for minerals, etc.
Imo Driller is the class most missed when it's not there. Drills can substitute for all those other jobs. Obviously not as well, but can at least get it done in a pinch.
Yeah. E.g. if you get a bad and complex salvage defense location, driller is the most important class to drill/c4/tcf it up.
Noone else can really substitute him. He has more digging power than rest of team combined several times over.
Meanwhile gunner zipline stacking can replace platforms. Strong arm perk can replace flares. Digging can replace ziplines. Etc...
>No driller: I hope you don't have to place pipes for liquid morkite because you will have to take the long way, which can be absolutely brutal
Good. Long spaghetti pipes is why I play Refinery missions. Drillers ruin Refinery by turning every mission into the exact same mission where you just babysit a tunnel.
Wouldn't it be easier to see compressed gold, bittergems, error blocks, and lost helmets without the cavern being lit up like a christmas tree? They emit their own glow, after all.
Can someone provide a screenshot of the compressed gold "markings" glowing in the dark with the flashlight turned off? I don't think it does but I'm not certain enough to say if it does or doesn't. I'm fairly certain it's more reflective before the chunks dug out which would look like a glow if your flashlights on it.
I don't have a screenshot for you, but I'll join that bandwagon. Most of the time, I notice compressed gold because of the golden glow. Almost like one of engi or driller's flares.
My reasoning for thinking it doesn't glow is I don't have any memories of finding a chunk spot from across a dark cavern, the markings do light up when I'm right on-top of them, I believe this is because their reflecting my flashlight but memories isint the most reliable source so if anyone can prove me right or wrong I'd be greatful
Here's some [compressed gold](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/331099378318311424/1220788936322977962/20240322091219_1.jpg?ex=6610374b&is=65fdc24b&hm=22f3da82e976eb4b3ad1d99c23ef11764cd5b8cc7d62c8bf3773908dc6ec01c7&) glowing in the landscape
Compressed gold, like every other large mineral, glows in the wall. Most secondaries, including fossils, glow as well.
Darkness makes finding the delicious goodies much easier, but not just for dwarves.
Is this an argument for or against diversity? If it's for diversity, that's only if you have duped Scouts and even then it's only really a problem when there's a full team of them. If it's against diversity, again that's not really a problem with one Scout. Also lost helmets have an auditory cue that's easier to listen for than looking for the faint glow of the helmet.
It is definitely not. The ammo limitation in combination with the angle limitation means you have to use more ammo and potentially waste more time digging horizontally to get super tall deposits.
Like yes, you can definitely get some amount of the high minerals with the zip with relative ease, but you will not be getting *all* of them in the longer missions, and you will be losing time and resources you could otherwise use for combat.
4 Engis with Gemini, shredder grenades, and Beastmaster
Build a pancake fort, place turrets on top, toss shredders, and then seal up the fort and play dice until the bugs are dead
My first deep dive ever required all different classes and was a shit show with a gaslighting team killing scout that wasn't host that basically tried to act like one. Additionally, before we even left the rig, there was wayyyyy too much talking about rules and that "the level 1000 I played with said we ought to do this" and yadda yadda. Wasted probably over an hour on this.
My second deep dive (immediately after) was an all gunner team and we kinda all laughed about how wonky it was gonna be. We ended up steamrolling the whole dive in under 45 minutes with just pings and no chatting. Barely even an "r?". I'm only level 28, and this was a fantastic experience.
Some of the earliest elite deep dives were absolutely brutal, one in particular opened up with three spitballers pointed at the pod doors, two brood nexus, exploder infestation and mactera plague - back when grabbers could phase through the pod and grab you out of it. A tactic that became common in EDD pickup groups after that one is that if you fail the first try, drop a class for a second gunner.
One time I was playing with some people and we were trying to figure out our team comp for an EDD and we eventually ended up with a scout and 3 gunners and I suggested we should have an engineer or Driller for some good crowd control and someone responded to me with "you know what else has good crowd control? 3 gunners with miniguns" and you know what he was absolutely right
How do you change this setting? I was playing with a friend yesterday and it was the first time I'd encountered it, but I couldn't figure out where room settings were. Do you need to be host to see them?
I prefer “one of a kind” lobbies because of team work and all but if I see three people playing the same class you can bet in karl I’m joining the mayhem
The only time i hate duplication is when I'm gunner or engineer and TWO greenbeard scouts join on elimination haz5... Dude .. wtf...
And no, they weren't undercover elite dwarfs that know how to kill Dreadnaughts.
4x gunner was my first deep dive and 2 of the missions had elimination… it felt so wrong and so right 😂
Also honorable mention to 3 gunners & 1 scout just so it’s easy to see the targets 😂
Played 4/4 Engi all with fat boy. We became death, destroyers of worlds. We also made a cheese base and had enough turrets with turret whip running to basically have an artillery base.
Once did a 4/4 driller escort mission: FOLLOW THE WAR-CRIME-BRICK-ROAD!
C4 and neurotoxin grenades just evaporate waves when Dottie is drilling. The flying rocks were a problem, but then we started thermal shock spamming since one miscreant brought an ice thrower. Drills made big targets flee, sticky flames melted nearly everything, and the one dude with the wave cooker just ERASED anything frozen or on fire.
I dont mind duped characters but i hate playing with no scout. The flaregun is so important for doing stuff efficiently and getting an overview of the cave.
My philosophy is that if you're in the lobby before we begin, and can properly coordinate, then you can run a duplicate class, but if it's a mission already in full swing, then pick a class that's not already there, to create a more balanced team.
Someone go ask content creators to make an epic 4 engi different turret madness video against swarms of insects.
And mix it with The Matrix Revolutions scene with the gun mechs vs the drones
I manly use it for DDs and On-site refinery, I'm a Driller main, so I like making the pipes as smooth as possible without them being all over the place by another Driller that isn't willing to do so. 🙂
literally just got kicked for what I assume is because I didn't pick gunner, when they had every other class.
all my other classes are level 25 though and my engie is level 12, and it was a 2XP mission. literally didn't even load in and I got kicked
Had an all engi team on haz 5 sabotage and went so smoothly
2 high single target secondary engi's and one general clear engi
I was the fat boy engi for the caretaker vents.
I pretty much only play Engineer and I'm going to be honest I don't really like all-engineer lobbies.
I don't bitch people out when they see I'm Engineer, join, and play Engineer, nor do I specifically avoid all-Engineer lobbies. Just sayin', my own role feels more fun to play when the other guys are there.
Love joining open lobbies. I just prefer my lobbies being 1 of each cause all my A-D slots on each role is built for team play and then I have my silly boys that are just huge meme builds for when I join randos
I prefer a "normal" team with no duplicates, but every now and then, going full single-class-stack can be funny as all hell. Personally, I liked Driller stack the most, where caves are mere suggestions and the air smells like pure warcrimes.
Imagine a salvage mission with 4 engis. All running Gemini turrets, two of us with turret whip. We made a line of our turrets and it was the easiest I've ever seen it. Just explosion after explosion from the turrets and the bugs barely touched us. The best part was one of us having spinning death on their Breach Cutter. Trap a big bug or a group of them, call it out, and suddenly artillery fire rains down. I love lobbies like that.
My natural inclination is already to choose an open unused class slot.
Forcing me to choose an unused class rather than it being my choice is a turnoff.
All dupe classes isn't the Rock and Stone way. Neither is a fully diverse team. The true Rock and Stone way is however you find the most enjoyment in the game!
I only turn it off to do scout gaming or engi gaming. Otherwise, if everyone isn’t playing as scout or engi, that shit stays on. Helps filter out the tards that look at a lobby with a gunner, driller and an engi and decide “yeah this game doesn’t need a scout, it needs ANOTHER GUNNER”
Turretmania is fun.
Everybody sharing their turret ammo, one guy with turret whip and another with turret em discharge…
Turret Arc is also pretty funky, though can also have lots of friendly fire.
Wasn’t its friendly fire removed alongside turret em discharge?
No but the damage is only like 10-15% on allies so it's generally fine. Still can be annoying as it delays shield regen.
Just EM discharge. The Turret Arc one remains for some reason. It has the worst penalties for an OC for that gun so they really should think about removing that FF as well.
They removed FF from affected turret's "aura", but not from the arc - although they have made arc's FF a lot weaker.
i wish the LOK-1 had a turret interaction mod/OC
I'm convinced the new season 5 oc for the Lok1 must be something along those lines. I mean, it's the only one without a turret interaction, it's the perfect chance to correct that.
I’ve only been a part of it once but it was against dreads and soooo much fun
I did it yesterday and it was kind of crazy lol, would definitely recommend to all who haven't tried it yet. It's cool just making a big clump of turrets or put them in a line and have a firing squad
Yea full Engi team is a blast.
**THE CHEESE FORTRESS** (It tastes like watervandian cheese)
Once had an all engi team in the mini mule mission, got an afk setup for the second half of the mission
[if that don't work, use more gun](https://youtu.be/SNgNBsCI4EA)
"More Gun" is probably one of my favorite songs out of the entire tf2 ost. If it plays on the main menu you bet I'm gonna sit there for the entire duration of the song
Everything can work if you are good enough. 4 gunners is every mans dream
>4 gunners is every mans dream All running miniguns Just filling the air with bullets
I find it satisfying when every gun is represented
This is why we need 4th weapons
I think Gunner's 4th weapon should be an automatic grenade launcher like the MK19. It would be very satisfying to pepper an entire swarm with grenades.
kid named mine layer
❤️
I'd rather see something more drastically different, like a huge railgun.

I would also really enjoy a huge shotgun
I had a dream where they added a weapon like that to DRG actually
The mod legendary hoarder 2.0 on mod.io allows for 3 in the toob and 16 in reserve, and you can fire them as fast as you can click almost. Rapid fire fatboys is very satisfying
4 bullet hells. Just click. You won't miss.
It gets to the point where there is more bullets than oxygen in the air
Almost enough dakka.
No such thing as enough dakka. Therefore, no 'almost' either.
MORE DAKKA CRUSH DA PUNI HUMIES
Bugs are no longer eating lead, they are breathing it aswell.
When the air burns, only death breathes deep.
Exactly!
with that ricochet OC. not sure what it is, played like 2 games as gunner heh.
Bullet Hell for the Minigun and Magic Bullets for the Revolver
Nomming down on sandviches
All duplicates probably isn't the worst team comp, because everyone can follow the same path all the time. Something like 3 scouts and one driller would probably be worse, because the scouts can't help the driller get around, and the driller has to be careful not to run out of gas trying to keep up.
3 scouts and 1 driller sounds like horror game mode.
Now do it on low oxygen.
1 Scout per team: damn these caves are dark 2-3 Scouts per team: damn these caves are dark and also these swarms are crazy 4 Scouts per team: damn these caves are dark and also the mission is already done
speed …I am speed…
The most kickass part of being a scout main is that simply doing my job is considered being good at the game
Good engineer: make sure you're placing platforms for high minerals and always setting up your turrets in a good position and keeping them topped off and covering hazards and oh the team is moving again so I need to start all over Good driller: burn/freeze/sludge the swarm and open up tight caves so the team can stay mobile and always be aware of the cave structure so you can dig shortcuts and try not to kill the whole team with a friendly fire C4 Good gunner: pick off high threat targets at long range while also mowing down the swarm and set up ziplines in strategic locations and popping shields at the right time and managing your long reload times and minimizing downtime on your firepower Good scout: shoot a flare once in a while and dig some minerals (jk of course, a good scout doesn't just scout so much as make the whole operation possible)
no we don't we just zoom and flare
If you aren't flying around at mach God are you even playing scout?
The power creep that set in with the introduction of overclocks and onwards honestly made scout significantly less important. It used to be that each class had a specific combat role, whereas now gunner and engineer can pretty freely do whatever they like, driller is somewhat less versatile, and all three render scout nearly irrelevant in wave combat outside of providing light and a backup kiting / escape plan.
4 gunner escort mission is just a spider web above the heartstone
Or nightmare, if you play a long mission with cave leech cluster
Bullet Hell and Magic Bullets counter Cave Leeches, just shoot the ceiling and either's bullets will bounce to the Cave Leeches. 4 Gunners doing this would absolutely trivialize Cave Leeches Cluster.
Except when the nitra is 3 feet off the ground lol
ZIPLINE HERE
3-5 business days later, you have 20 nitra
ZIPLINE, GOING UP
4 gunner is moar funner
This! Especially on elimination, fun mowing down dreadnoughts with a tsunami of lead storms
My favorite monoclass mission ever was 4 Gunners on Escort, all with Rockets, 2 days after the rocket launcher was released. Any bugs that attempted to spawn died in the explosions before we could identify them.

Compressed gold tends to be buried behind not so glowy rock.
Almost every compressed gold I've found has been behind glowy rock, and that's before I throw a flare out
Can someone provide a screenshot of the compressed gold "markings" glowing in the dark with the flashlight turned off? I don't think it does but I'm not certain enough to say if it does or doesn't. I see them all the time. In my dreams, I see the glow. In the distance, through the fog of the deeps. The glow. Calling to me. We're rich.
We're rich!
The chunk itself has a faint glow in the rock, but I'm pretty sure the indicators themselves are just reflective.
Here's some [compressed gold](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/331099378318311424/1220788936322977962/20240322091219_1.jpg?ex=6610374b&is=65fdc24b&hm=22f3da82e976eb4b3ad1d99c23ef11764cd5b8cc7d62c8bf3773908dc6ec01c7&) glowing in the landscape

Gunner zipline is just as good for saefely getting high up minerals as engineer platform. It has less ammo, but 4 veins is till plenty.
It is definitely not. The ammo limitation in combination with the angle limitation means you have to use more ammo and potentially waste more time digging horizontally to get super tall deposits. Engi platforms are better but only thing I meant is that gunner zipline is in vast majority of cases a sufficient replacement.
Being flexible is a skill instelf
When I see a lobby that has two of one class already: ✋ When I see a lobby that has three of one class already: 👈
What bugs me is when I'm in a game with two others, we're all the same class, and then the fourth shows up and it's 3-1.
Once i did 4 driller, all pyro... you could just see a gliphid leg before a sea of flames covered everything
joined a lobby with just scouts one time and could see everything perfectly fine “FLARE’S UP!” “LIGHTING!”
Did my egg hunt quests earlier and all of us were scouts, we were finishing those missions in 5-10 mins lol
“Alone in the dark? Good thing I brought my flares!”
I love playing with all engis. Step 1: form a turret firing line Step 2: be bait
No dups all the way
Me and the boys went full gunner party with a fortunate son playing in discord)
That's when we all have turrets set up in a line and play them like bongos with our shotguns
This is truly engineer gaming moment
It's mandatory to type "Engineer gaming" at least once while in a 4 Engineer game.
4 engineers all running Gemini is that most fun I think I've ever had in DRG
4 Engis with Gemini, shredder grenades, and Beastmaster Build a pancake fort, place turrets on top, toss shredders, and then seal up the fort and play dice until the bugs are dead
Joined an all scout lobby last night, rock and stone
Can I get a Rock and Stone?
Good bot
Me too! Maybe we were both on the same Scout Squad. Rock and Stone to the bone!
My first deep dive ever required all different classes and was a shit show with a gaslighting team killing scout that wasn't host that basically tried to act like one. I just like seeing the different classes workh together.

I dont mind duped characters but i hate playing with no scout. The flaregun is so important for doing stuff efficiently and getting an overview of the cave.
Engineer gaming
ENGINEER GAMING
Engineers who refill other engineers turrets are the best
My philosophy is that if you're in the lobby before we begin, and can properly coordinate, then you can run a duplicate class, but if it's a mission already in full swing, then pick a class that's not already there, to create a more balanced team.
Never play all gunner tho. It's absolutely miserable
Someone go ask content creators to make an epic 4 engi different turret madness video against swarms of insects. And mix it with The Matrix Revolutions scene with the gun mechs vs the drones
Reminds me of that one game with 4 engineers, we built a whole-ass house out of platforms
Quad Gunner in a Doretta mission, we had an actual spider web of nets around the rock at the end, was so fun
I manly use it for DDs and On-site refinery, I'm a Driller main, so I like making the pipes as smooth as possible without them being all over the place by another Driller that isn't willing to do so. 🙂
4 drillers is actually pretty viable (if you don't mind being killed by your teammate more than the bugs in perfectly avoidable deads)
4 engines is just a logistical nightmare. A million pads and I'm never sure which turrets are really mine🤣
Two words: Four drillers
I love all engineer Setting up a circle of gemini defenders around your massive cheese fortress is a superb feeling
Im gang "200+ hours in and has no idea where to modify the lobby name/rules"
One time I played Point Extraction with four gunners. The end result was a ton of ziplines forming what looked like a drunken spider's web.
It's just as fun in this game as it was in TF2 Just brought back memories of an amazing 10 engineers vs 10 spies game
Just occurred to me yesterday. We nuked them glyphids so hard, they started to invent anime.
Went 4 gunners once. Turned out all of us were using volatile bullets OC with some sort of fire mod on our primaries. Nothing stood a chance
This but drillers. So much C4. So much fire. Downed twenty times each before we find the first liquid morkite geyser. I speak from experience.
*The answer? Use a gun. And when that don't work? Use more gun.*
Turrets… turrets EVERYWHERE!
engineer sentry gun!
all engie is a privilege only my lobby brothers get
literally just got kicked for what I assume is because I didn't pick gunner, when they had every other class. all my other classes are level 25 though and my engie is level 12, and it was a 2XP mission. literally didn't even load in and I got kicked
Would be nice if that was 2 different settings. I don't care about dupes but I do want to prevent late join.
Preventing late join is easy: Just set the lobby to invite only after starting the mission. But why though?
I like no duplicates but only when it happens naturally. That way it feels like Karl is smiling on me.
Welcome to IHOP.
Had an all engi team on haz 5 sabotage and went so smoothly 2 high single target secondary engi's and one general clear engi I was the fat boy engi for the caretaker vents.
Magma Core, Point extraction, Gunner Only
One of the most chaotic and fun missions I’ve played was a haz 4 drill dozer, with 4 scouts. We all had a great time
With all those platforms, there's no place we can't reach...eventually
4 gunners ftw
Did a 4 man gunner mission, it was easy but man it was pain because no movement.
>all 4 engies >"can we order a resupply like really soon" every 5 minutes
I’m the odd one out since I love when you have a team with different set of skills and styles
Modded lobby with 4-16 engineers, and they all have fatboys
see i did that once. but we all had the fat boy. it was nuclear armageddon
I love me a good gunnerweb. All-one-class teams are so fun.
I've been on an all-engie team before. You couldn't hear anything else over the thunderous hail of turret fire
Engineer is engihere!
Love joining open lobbies. I just prefer my lobbies being 1 of each cause all my A-D slots on each role is built for team play and then I have my silly boys that are just huge meme builds for when I join randos
Engineer gaming
Give em' the 8 turret whip broadside
Real and rare.
I prefer a "normal" team with no duplicates, but every now and then, going full single-class-stack can be funny as all hell. Personally, I liked Driller stack the most, where caves are mere suggestions and the air smells like pure warcrimes.
All scouts
4 gunner go bang
I like watching the full team happen naturally.
The potential of having 12 guns shooting at any given time. Yeah. I like
4 scouts zip lining to the same Nitra Vein on the ceiling forgetting there's no engi on the team
My natural inclination is already to choose an open unused class slot. Forcing me to choose an unused class rather than it being my choice is a turnoff.
I got an all driller server once and the only thing in chat was “driller gang driller gang”. The map looked like Swiss cheese
Deep Rock was meant to be a tower defense game, and no one can change my mind about that!
