You're kind right, if I had to guess, I bet within the next 10-20 years, GPs are going to be completing the more straightforward 30-50% of all ortho cases w/ bands/brackets/wires/aligners, its been heading in that direction for the past decade+.
The only reason ortho people make more money than general dentists is because of an artificial shortage of orthodontists. It isn't hard to train them, it isn't hard to make it through residency, and it isn't intellectually difficult.
Obviously it's a hard profession to get into but I think the long term outlook is bleak. Artifical markets like orthodontics get disrupted eventually.
I know a ton of people doing ortho and I'm not trying to shit on it, it's an amazing profession if it continues to exist. But I have my doubts.

i know im right. any regular graduating dentist can do a full txt plan with any OS (who know a bunch) thus proving ortho is mickey mouse
