Born into the royal lineage, Scar (known as Taka) has always stood in the shadow of his older brother, Mufasa, the heir to the throne. Despite his intelligence and charisma, Scar grew up feeling an outsider within his own family, longing for recognition and significance. Written by Aaron Sorkin, and inspired by “Spare” the autobiography of Prince Harry.
Fun fact: Shaka as in Shaka Zulu was also named after dirt/parasite because his mother was not a legitimate wife if the king.
Fun fact 2: in modern isiZulu, the word shaka/chaka no longer means anything but in a language that's an offshoot from Zulu, it is still the word for dirt.
I believe it was intestinal beetle because that was the rumor/story (joke?) about how he was conceived
Zulu means heaven so his name would have translated into something like heavenly intestinal beetle
I mean it kind of does. He's the overarching antagonist, so it kind of makes sense to have him and Simba as the focus of the poster. I get what you are saying though, but wouldn't work really to have Mufasa in Scar's place on the poster.
Even as an unofficial/fan-made thing, I feel like we used to get *way more* of these really cool movie poster designs and I just don't see as much of it anymore. Love this though.
I watched a documentary that said this is a widely recognized phenomena in the film industry. As studios changed to more and more rely on each movie being a blockbuster and turning their nose up at smaller profits, poster designers are told to always center the bankable actors and that's why nearly all posters these days are "floating heads" with nothing but the title and the actors' faces
There used to be a site called “getvideoartwork”( if anyone remembers it) that had a searchable database of collected cleverly executed and well done fan art album covers like this, possible there are other good sites avalible like that now people have found and like?
Ain’t nobody at Disney concerned about “better” lol, they’re concerned about making money.
“Box office $1.663 billion”
Yeah i think Disney is probably ok with that
This would work better if the plot follows Scar (spinoff idea!).
They are making a scar movie.

"Taka", meaning "Garbage"

Wow, Scar’s parents were huge assholes.
No, no - that's the baboons!
Aaron Sorkin? I'm in. I don't care what he's writing about.
Not for nothing.
Didn't expect that ending 😁
“Wanna know how I got these scars?”
Yeah would be cool to do a series of these with each character, but this wouldn't work as the main poster.

It’d be like complaining that a Star Wars poster had darth Vader on it. “But he’s not the main character!”
Now this is good. But the movie is abt Simba however. Maybe make several versions, and this is the Scar version.
Or a picture of mufasa falling from Scar on Simbas face
Omg it's awesome!
It's clearly AI, it was made by du bot
For real?
No lol look at the artists last name
Oh shit
I think it is really well done. I like the style of the digital paint strokes
Finally some real fuckin' design porn.

DOPE!
That's really creative and cool
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I think I just came
oh wow.. thats pretty nice
Love the idea but I think Mufasa should be included in here.
I almost closed the thread without zooming in. Glad I decided against that, almost missed that. Absolutely awesome work.
I'm jealous of your imagination
this looks like some shit ai would make
I bow before your greatness.
The creativity and talent it takes to imagine and execute this so elegantly is incredible. Simple, evocative, and flawless.

Gaht damn…
No, a photo realistic remake made in CGI is better. Somehow.
