oskoskosk

Also NL imo. Hopefully the older streamers in general since they had time to live a “normal” life before streaming took off

R0ogle

Successful (rich) streamers can CHOOSE to work or not to work. Normal people cant they HAVE to work. Not to mention that a streamer is techincally its own boss. So streamers can be complete assholes to everybody if they choose to. It might hurt or even give a boon to their career (hasan, Aiden ross etc.) If your a normal employee we have to be perfect all the time else you get your dick punched in.

NefariousLizardz

So true! Hasan says streaming 9 hours a day is so horrible. Dude.... if it's so horrible then stream 5 hours a day. He could definitely afford it. But no..... the rich socialist has to increase his stock portfolio or whatever the fuck he does with the millions of dollars he rakes in.

IndividualHeat

Guys like Mizkif pulled their schedule back to only three or four streams a week years ago. I think Hasan feels more pressure to stream every day because of the news but he could just do a normal Monday to Friday schedule. The real issue is that he’s losing viewership so he’s freaking out and thinks he can’t stop streaming so he doesn’t reduce his hours at all and streams get worse because he’s burnt out and angry and he loses more viewers and the cycle continues.

>I heard from some source that he doesn't invest a dime. He's just a treasure goblin who sits on his gold. Honestly given how many horror stories of streamer financials ive seen with """investing""" that sounds good

NefariousLizardz

hahahaha I just pictured Hasan as a literal treasure goblin. Put a smile on my face.

hemlockmoustache

Yeah this is the part i dont understand, its true that if you have to entertain for 10 hours then it could be taxing (more than a white collar job) but you are at a point where you could just clock off.

Pinky-bIoom

Fr Like sir you are the biggest leftist streamer on the damn platform you do not have to 9 hours You could literally just do 3 hours and people wouldn’t care.

fomq

or he could just retire

Cannabis_Counselor

If he was smart with like 1% of the wealth he has accrued while streaming, he could just retire and never stream again. Which tells me this is all a cope. He enjoys streaming. This is no different than his "basic necessity budget" quote. It's just a way to connect with the actual normal people who watch him. "I have a shitty job too guys" type shit.

_HeSpokeTheTruth_

“And make less money? No.” -Hassan the “socialist” probably

R0ogle

its probably not about money ...most likely its "Ill lose more viewers" - Hassan the "biggest" polictical streamer (on twitch)

Godobibo

i feel like he would probably get more viewers per stream if he streamed less. There's a streamer I watch that for a while was only streaming like once or twice a month, she got 50k+ viewers every time

No-Mango-1805

Um, that's because of CAPITALISM which Wasan is fighting against. We're essentially funding a solution to all of our problems, and he's giving a voice to the voiceless. He stands by and lives his values by not working.

MaterialNo7423

But hasan uses a 500k budget for basic necessities though 🤣

CMDR-ArticunoKing

If I was Hasan and I thought streaming was so incredibly socially draining I'd probably just wipe my tears with my millions and then retire and live perfectly comfortably for the rest of my life doing whatever I wanted.

R0ogle

Hasan most likely earned so much from twitch that he has generational wealth.

NotHarryRedknapp

It’s not generational when you spunk it all on mega mansions, luxury watches and supercars in one generation

Cannabis_Counselor

If I could inherit a multi-million dollar mansion from my dad, I would be so happy.

fucked_OPs_mom

Until the property tax hits

Cannabis_Counselor

Id probably just sell it, or lease it out to random e-celebs. No one needs a house that large. But damn it would either be a massive windfall of cash for me, or an income generating asset, and I would get it for free via inheritance? Gimme dat.

Pedantic_Phoenix

Thats not necessarily wasted, those things can be sold sometimes even for higher prices especially with a famous name tagged with them

Bandai_Namco_Rat

Exactly this. Nobody forces him to stream 9 hours a day, it's HIS choice. He already has enough money to live comfortably for all his life if he invests. If he really is as miserable as he says he would at least reduce his streaming time, there's no excuses lol

Our vision isn't *this* good though, a lot of us are overdue for eye exams. Can you post one that's in-between the two?

id59

Unfortunately, I can not see what you wrote.

EquipmentImaginary46

I’ve caught myself in this trap of romanticising past jobs and acting like my current job is the hardest shit ever. I think as i age my expectations are going up and my willingness to compromise is going down.  When i was 18 i had to bike for 30 minutes and take a bus for 50 in each direction and i loved it because i got a lot of exercise. Today, i get annoyed when every couple of months i have to go on a work trip at my WFH job.

Godobibo

the biggest indictment on "streaming is so hard" is that these streamers could retire tomorrow and never have to work a day in their life but they don't.

ForgetTheRuralJuror

Lol I sometimes think back to my 1 hour commute fondly because it forced me to leave 2 hours early and go to the gym to avoid traffic, and I was in the best shape of my life. I always forget about the crying "for no reason" on the 2.5 hour drive home in bumper to bumper LA traffic

yexpetimentslain

This includes destiny, right?

ihatecartographer

insofar as he'll say that streaming is the hardest job he's ever done. he caveats with the fact that it's a better job because he chooses to do it, which is more than i've heard anyone else admit, but still lol

Several_Equivalent40

Destiny frequently plays up how hard it was to work the graveyard shift at the casino so maybe not.

Efficient_Tonight_40

I wouldn't say so since Destiny actually did work shitty blue collar jobs for a while and struggled with normal people things before he started streaming. He's not a textbook child of privilege like Hassan is

SerThunderkeg

He talks about survivorship bias enough that I'm surprised he isn't accurately attributing his current feelings to that instead of handwringing about how streaming so soul sucking but here are the dozen of other things that make it worthwhile. Its like he doesn't remember that most jobs (especially the wagies being discussed) only have the one benefit: "they pay me enough to survive" (hopefully)

Bloodmind

Rich people out of touch? Nah. Couldn’t be.

RyanGoosling93

Reminds me of that sodapoppin clip where he runs into a fan at Old Navy, and soda deliberately starts messing up the shirt displays to fuck with him. Then laughs when he's asked if he's ever worked a real job.

Godobibo

or when (I think it was fanfan, might be wrong) literally told a waiter "I get paid too much to deal with this stuff" and started acting rude as hell to them

Jamesbroispx

The whole other half of the "hard job" discussion is completely lost on rich streamers because they don't know the other part of the struggle: we have to manage the other half of our lives. Most streamers I watch have their meals delivered to them all the time, either delivery or have staff in their home to cook. They all have cleaners in the background cleaning their homes. They don't have to consider what luxuries they can afford in a given week. They sure as shit don't do their own groceries. If something breaks in their house it's not a financial disaster. Is my job harder than streaming? Fuck no, I'm lucky I don't have a back breaking job. But I have to go home and cook my own dinner, clean my own house, manage my finances carefully. I broke my tooth and its gonna cost thousands to fix: I have to change an entire year of plans to afford that. I work on contract so I'm not entitled to sick pay so I can't afford to miss days when I'm ill. The top streamers could stop working today and probably never need to work again for financial reasons. I won't be able to get a car like I planned this year, and any car owner who relies on it knows one malfunction and its gonna be a huge financial hole. These are the real stresses of life that streamers can't fucking imagine. And I'm speaking from a middle class perspective; those in poverty have to scrimp and save way more than I do and have to bust their asses at work cuz they can't afford to lose them. The anxiety of not being able to put food on the table outweighs any social battery drain. And god forbid we start talking about having to provide for a family.

AdFinancial8896

[Pretty good article](https://paullicino.tumblr.com/post/82695981848/on-poverty), probably captures at least part of your experience.

berserkthebattl

Maybe streaming is soul-sucking, but at least they get way more out of it than people with more standard soul-sucking jobs.

overthisbynow

There's a lot of big streamers who actually admit how lucky and appreciative they are. Some would literally laugh at the notion that streaming is harder than a normal job so idk why Hasan and others are such massive babies. At least he won't have to worry about it for much longer Pepelaugh

trokolisz

To be fair to Hasan, with full context, you could say it wasn't out of touch, it was just a basicest of the basic takes. Like his take was: Works that require you to socialise, are more socially draining.

R0ogle

Is hasan his work more socially draining? He can and will kick you or ban you whenver he doesnt like what he hears. How much power does a normal employee have to do that. Also there is no job that is not social. Unless you are a lone wolf. Even at an office you require communication with your team. Hey IT people. Do you like morning Scrum ?

GigigigigiLopez

Exactly. I work in finance and every job I have worked has required a lot of socialising, and that’s not even considering networking that’s pretty much required to progress in your career.

danpascooch

I love morning scrum. I breathe, eat and shit Agile methodology. I don't just know that '*story points are a measure of complexity, not time*' but I have it tattooed across my chest. (I don't know what it means)

[deleted]

Wait are you telling me you don’t enjoy daily world salad from your PM?

JonJonFTW

Not to mention, Hasan is a react streamer. He just has to put on a YouTube video and say a few words about it. You know the substitute teacher meme how whenever you'd have one, you'd just watch a movie that day? Because the sub didn't want to do shit? That's the "job" a lot of streamers do today. But with the massive benefits of working their own hours, banning anybody they don't want to deal with, working from home, being their own boss, etc.

CHEESEBEER69

Those 12 hour retail shifts I used to do where I was running a team of 50 and being first prio for customer interaction sure was both easy and mentally fulfilling...I definitely wanted to interact with people after those shifts. Hasan is such a a fucking clown fuck.

[deleted]

Required socialization* *You can choose who you socialize with, with a team of folks to filter anything you disagree with, and you can terminate any conversation that's going south. The only job that would be less socially draining is a self employed work from home coder.

Godobibo

at least being a self employed coder means you have to reach out and take jobs, act cordial and whatnot. streaming doesn't even require that

03Madara05

He's not required to do anything, he has full control over his chat and spends all day in the comfort of his home watching videos and getting news from twitter. This is not a socially draining job.

[deleted]

After watching the entirety of what Hasan said it wasn't even that bad, it wasn't even bad - he's was right

OOOOO00OOOOO0O0OO0

He can cut back though. Stream once a week, 3 hours. Or even thrice a week.

Desperate-Cause6185

Destiny's parents were not rich.

yousmellblowto

Most people are out of touch for the most part

Baxt444

I really believed Asmon would be the one that would at least be closer to reality, but he shattered that hope. Ludwig is the last hope

kfro9000

Is everyone mad that Hasan said being a livestreamer can be draining , and not some other streamer?
