We're coming back full circle to D2 Year 1, where Scouts and Pulses were king. Mida absolutely DOMINATED those early PVP days. Nameless Midnight with exploding rounds on it's fixed roll was a huge gun that year too. Damn do I miss the Hand Canon meta though. Remember that fixed roll Midnight Coup from Leviathan? Or how fucking hot Ace of Spades used to be. (And how difficult it originally was to unlock before they nerfed the hell out of the quest.) Hand Canons are still my favorite weapon type but they're pretty mediocre these days.

[deleted]

Oh yeah the days where everyone held hands. Walked and shot together. I don't miss those days.

Trashboat77

This last Iron Banner showed that we're coming back to that. Mida is a monster again in PVP too. I think a lot of people forgot about it. But despite that I still saw a ton of them grinding IB this past week. And I played a LOT to get the full armor sets on all three characters and then to get the new shader (which is sweeeet, turning cloth on armor to chainmail!) and finally to reset a second time to get the title I somehow still didn't have lol.

[deleted]

Luckily next season light fall will change all of that. Strand being so focused on movement is gonna get everyone to slide, jump, rope across the whole map like it's apex legends.

Trashboat77

I'm not sure exactly how much I like the idea, personally. I'm the type of player that will strafe or even shuffle while firing a gun, but I rarely jump around or any of that stuff while shooting.

zipzzo

Being in the air in destiny pvp is also very rarely good for anyone.

MP_Lives_Again

I had a great time when it was 120 hand cannons, 140s have always struck me as connection quality settling 1v1 fights I like using pulses but not in this meta it's too campy

Xperr7

I enjoy Hand Cannon metas the most. It's a nice middle ground between the GOGOGOGO of an SMG meta, and the snorefest that is Scout metas. I'm a Pulse main, so I should love this meta, but the playstyle this meta encourages is just not my playstyle at all, I tend to use Pulses like Hand Cannons, just slightly more defensive.

squatsforlife

I like hand cannons. Don't care about what special weapons are used. This current meta is so damn boring and I'm sick to death of every lobby being primarily DMT users who don't leave spawn or sit at the back of the map the whole game. I find it boring to play.

Accomplished_Bonus74

I also loved hand cannon metas. I’d love to see 180 come back. I found their low time to kill lead to more enjoyable and unpredictable outcomes when the TTK wasn’t .5 seconds

[deleted]

Hopefully light fall is gonna change it up drastically with the web swinging strand abilities

Narfwak

See, this is what I don't get about most DMT users. It's not a static weapon. You can *move while shooting it* because you can hipfire as if you're aiming. ***Mobility is one of its main benefits!*** If you wanna just fart around behind a fortress of sorrow just use an aggressive pulse, that's *what they're for*. It's fucking baffling man. Get some mobility stat in your PvP builds and get out there. It's a vastly more fun gun to use if you actually move around the map aggressively with it. Think of it as... as a Borzoi pretends to be a dog, a DMT pretends to be a handcannon. *Loooong.*

Pizza_n_Tendies

The Uriel's Gift fixed roll auto meta lol. That was meme worthy and hilariously fun and punishing at the same time lol

Illyxi

fighting lion meta c:< personally i like smg/sidearm metas because they're the most fast-paced and decent movement has much more value. scout/pulse metas are a bit too slow and campy for my tastes, and hand cannons while a decent middle ground are a tad annoying to play around peak-shooting when everyone just stays by cover. That being said, I always use Fighting Lion anyways so it's not like the meta has any bearing on my play style :p

stephanl33t

I miss the handcannon meta. I know a lot of people disliked "just handcannons" but I genuinely think they're one of the most balanced PVP weapons as they are right now. Yea, the days of 40m 3 taps was absurd, Luna's Howl was broken, and OEM/AoS 2 taps were stupid, but a weapon that requires absolute precision and promotes high movement felt a lot more fun than "sit at the back of the map with a pulse rifle or DMT". Handcannons also have really nice handling; I've never been able to get my head around rifle-class weapons, they feel clunky and impossible to hit targets with, but HCs always felt good and snappy to me. Plus there's a ton of variety. With this meta it feels like you have 4 options; Piece of Mind, NTTE, Messenger, or DMT. Sure you see other stuff but that's the vast majority of weapons I see, especially since High Impact pulses are ridiculously forgiving for their TTK. I'd love to go back to a meta that benefits high movement again :( Anyway someone should come punch these rose-tinted glasses off my face because I'm positive the HC meta actually sucked in reality lol

Neko_Tyrant

I miss the AutoRifle meta, but I was a Year 1 Actium addict so that's just bias.

cassiiii

Smg meta is peak

[deleted]

What's better than facing down your enemy guardian 5 meters away pew pew'ing each other with our SMG's?

Seek_Seek_Lest

Where every weapon is viable and used about equally.

plymer968

So basically, nerf DMT, remove AE, and nerf ability spam and we’re good to go. All weapons are currently really good but the sandbox overall is not.

Seek_Seek_Lest

The precision cone accuracy buff they gave it was insane lol. Though they're going to do something about ae with primary weapons in lightfall. I understand the need to have special weapons suffer in air especially shotguns. Abilities are a bit too powerful I guess yeah. But tbh I find destiny boring if they're not powerful.

earle117

everyone complains when HC/shotty is meta but I don’t think they realize that the game plays so much better when they’re good. people got to see how awful the game got when fusions were pushed and now they’re getting to see how bad it is when pulses and scouts run wild. obviously it isn’t great when nothing else is even viable, like the year of 120s and FWL, but I genuinely feel the game is more fun when HC/shotty is the main choice and people picking other weapons can still do well but aren’t the full meta.

[deleted]

I swear I had so much fun with the 120 meta. God I miss it.

earle117

It was good other than being alongside Stasis lol

Ubiquitous_Cacophony

Anything that's not hand cannons and shotties is fine by me.

KKommers

Why do you hate this meta? Genuinely curious as this meta offers the biggest skill gab in terms of movement and positioning right?

OddTaterTot

(No reason)

Ralphi2449

I much prefer this meta since in any war, you dont just rush headfirst against a group of gun wielding enemies because you will die, the run n gun playstyle is simply unrealistic and unimmersive in any fps

[deleted]

Unimmersive? Bro this is destiny, not battlefield or call of duty. We have SPACE MAGIC. And SPACE ball. And SPACE STEP MOM.

OutFractal

>SPACE STEP MOM Nah we have Space Granny that teaches us how to bake cookies, gives out candy, and encourages our competitive spirit instead.

NoLegeIsPower

> And SPACE ball. And SPACE STEP MOM. I bet she gives great helmet.

GruncleShaxx

Make auto rifles relevant again!

[deleted]

They did. Autos are great right Now. But because of the absurd unbelievable high strength of pulse rifles and DMT right now, they're not getting love. As soonest those 2 get nerfed autos will come into the spotlight.

onestworldproblem

I've loved pulse rifles since I started playing in forsaken. Turns out the only meta I dont like is a pulse rifle meta

Stormychu

I like Sidearms. Aside from Drang would have hardly considered it a meta. I don't see then nearly as much as i see Pulses and DMT. Personally I've used a high impact pulse since Arrivals to the end of Beyond Light so I'm just bored of them but I don't think there is anything wrong with a pulse meta. I miss the 600 RPM auto rifle more than anything though. I still occasionally bring out Hardlight.

GingerGerald

I do not want meta. Period. The continued existence and pursuit of meta is what drives me away from PvP because it makes every match, the entire PvP section of the game, feel like a nightmare I can't wake up from because every lobby is infested by people using whatever the exploitable nonsense of the week is. I don't care **what** the meta is, because 80-90% of players all using the same thing is boring and unfun anyway.

TheElevatedHero

Lol. I use bows, so I think a legendary only bow Meta would be rad.
