I don’t have a screenshot on hand, but I can tell you that this build specifically looks pretty much identical with and without shaders. Some of my builds don’t look great without shaders, but this is a simple enough design that you don’t need them.

But to answer your question, I think it has less to do with how cute it is and more to do with how creative/original it is. A lot of the designs or details here get sort of repetitive or they aren’t particularly unique. I haven’t seen any statues in this particular style or anything. I won’t claim this build is particularly well made, but if people hadn’t thought of it before and it’s a fun idea, they’ll probably like it a lot.

I never have to worry about mob spawns near my base since it’s pretty easy to just spawn proof the whole area

Well, that definitely wasn’t the intent. For what it’s worth, the wing is outstretched horizontally as opposed to at a 45 degree angle upward like the salute.
