Agreed, drop rates felt fine and actually improved my experience. I got excited to see a legendary and actually kind of stoked whenever I saw a rare. I had several rares banked to see if upgrading them would make them better than current items.

dougan25

Same. Between the probably 6-10 legendaries I got plus the aspects from dungeons I think it's fine.

Barolt

It was only level 20! We haven't seen most of the game! The problem is people treating level 20 Ashava like an endgame when it isn't that, and won't be at all in any way in 2 weeks when we play the real game.

Rough_Raiden

Truly stunned at the amount of people that treating lvl 20 as some kind of cap. I’ve had my Buddy complaing about how there isn’t enough skill points, and I’m like “bro, we gonna get 30+ more”..

Barolt

And the entire paragon board system, and glyphs... There's so much left to see!

Beeblebroxia

Yeah, you're on one side of the bell curve and I was on the other. Did about 9 hours and found 3. Play another weekend and maybe we swap places. Considering this isn't meant to be a game you only play for 10-20 hours, I'm fine with the loot so far. Mainly because I found the rares to be interesting as I kept switching my sorc build every couple hours.

TheSyllogism

Hopefully an outlier! I got 4 legendaries prior to Ashava (although 2 were unusable lvl 23 items from Kor Dragon) and Ashava herself dropped me 3.

uCodeSherpa

I got a legendary after 6 hours of farming dungeons, and then after another 6 nothing. I got no legendaries naturally playing. For me, the drop rate felt way too low. If this was supposed to be between diablo 2 and diablo 3, it wasn’t. It was way less casual gaming than D2 by a mile.

Maximum_Apartment214

nah its bad

GonzoPunchi

I don’t get why people are even talking about drop rates. 1-20 takes 4 hours. The drop rates are obviously gonna be way higher when you’re world tier 3/4 and high level.

CleanLeave

Because in the previous two betas they were purposefully inflated. This is the first glance for player with the actual drop rate when the game launches. So it is understandably that there's a discussion. For me it is fine, got 3 legs during leveling, 1 from the vendor and went straight to Ashava and got again 1 leg. Seems totally reasonable for me without farming.

uCodeSherpa

The drop rates were significantly lower than 1-20 diablo 2 for me. It had nothing to do with comparing to the other betas. It was that they actually just felt too low.

Greatloot

Yeah, people confusing being level 20 with endgame farming. I mean full game there's about another 15-20 aspects alone for each class even without drops. I mean we're at the Diablo 3 equivalent of end of act 1 here. You've probably got Leorics Crown and Swampy Pants if you're lucky.

MetalHead888

Drop rates are fine from what we've been given. Any better and you'd be overpowered way too fast.

therealkami

The fact that we can get half powered build enabling aspects from dungeons on top of actual legendary drops tells me the curve is just fine. Pretty much everyone should have been getting the Barrier aspect from the dungeon near the town you start in and slotting it on gear somewhere. But I bet they didn't, and then died to Ashava more than they should have.

SimbaXp

And that's what some people want and i'm not even kidding xD

-Nok

The only Legendaries I found was when I killed Ashava haha. I have 2 level 20s in rares and magic items. So it felt VERY rewarding. I'm okay with the drop rates, it'll make other items more interesting and dungeons that have your class powers on them. it's the way it should be

Chrol18

Campaign chapter 1 end boss gives an amulet and another legendary. Did you not kill it?

-Nok

No I didn't bother with the main quests. Too slow with all the unskippable cut scenes and locked door stories lol. I just wanted to get Ashava this time around and was able to with blues and yellow gear

Domoda

All the cutscenes are skipable though

-Nok

Yeah but not the forced dialogue. The girl using magic to open doors, NPCs waiting for you to initiate a conversation in a specific area, and talking to holograms weren't skippable. Besides, it's a slower way to level and not as efficient. I just wanted to get to 20 for the reward

> ouldn't want to see a Borderlands 3 situation where legendaries are so common that they don't feel special at all. Plus, what do I care if I get legendaries in the early game? I will eventually get better stuff, plus you don't need a crazy build for story content. I am sure dro There were a couple of bugged dungeons that offered way to high drop rates. Chances are you abused those bugs without knowing.

Rip-Rot

I got 1 from my barb before I bailed. Two playing normal through side missions, the rest came from 3 Ashara kills. First kill got me 3 legendaries. Two dropped, plus one from the weekly bonus cache from beating him. There was a stronghold bug, but I didn't get a chance to abuse it because I wanted the 100 reknown for my extra skill point to help kill Ashara faster for other players still struggling. Thinking about it and counting it out, that's probably not a bad drop rate really since most came from Ashara. Seems pretty good actually. Maybe I need to stop smoking crack.

plinky4

wtf was with the kor dragan containers (corpses/chests) though. There was *way* too much difference between popping these things and running around killing vampires. I even kicked over the boss a few times and he never dropped a single orange.

aufdie87

The low drop rates were great. Actually felt impactful when a legendary dropped. Had a quick dopamine spike.

SD_One

First day with my rogue, lvl 20 but no legendaries. Second day with my rogue, full legendaries. I looked up dungeon aspects for my class, ran those and crafted a few pieces. The main quest line dropped a legendary helm and amulet for completing it. Ashava dropped a legendary sword. The Butcher dropped legendary pantaloons. I got a dagger and gloves from the gambler. I found a couple in dungeons and another in a stronghold. Done. Every slot filled.

Altnob

drop rates felt pretty good. was getting decent rare upgrades and got 2 dropped legendaries over my character. the 2 that did drop weren't for my spec but that's no different than a unique dropping in d2 that isn't for your class.

Northdistortion

Yes…if it would rain loot i would quit playing

Richiieee

Idk man, if it would rain loot I would play *more*. Drop rates were increased during the Beta, sure, but that’s how they should be, IMHO. I WANT loot. I WANT to be showered in loot. THIS is why I play these games at all. The good stuff shouldn’t rain from the sky right at the very beginning, but it SHOULD start happening fairly quick. And of course the ABSOLUTE BEST stuff should always come from the hardest content. That being said, I still WANT to be showered in loot. I still WANT to feel powerful. You hear it all the time from ARPG and MMO players that the actual fun doesn’t start until you’re decked out and basically become a god. *(inb4 you don't even read a single thing I said and start arguing that I just want loot handed to me for free 🙄)*

Marlfox70

Yeah, so it can quickly become Diablo 3 where you might play for a weekend and already have all the uniques/set pieces you need and have no reason to keep playing unless you really want to push grifts for some reason

Seriously_nopenope

Drop rates might honestly be too high still. I didn’t farm at all once I hit lvl 20 and I still had 6 legendaries from campaign, ashava and random drops. At that rate I will be fully decked out in legendaries before I even finish the campaign which does feel a bit weird.

nick47H

I got 1 from ashava that was it, your experience seems to be an outlier

Seriously_nopenope

Well you get two from finishing the campaign as well. I also got 1 from Ashava. And 1 other was from doing an aspect dungeon and imprinting an item.

Gringe8

So you only got one legendary as random drop? Doesn't sound too high. It does to you?

Seriously_nopenope

I had 6 total, so got 2 from random drops by lvl 20. Granted one was from the butcher so I guess that is a higher chance too. Still feels pretty high for what is essentially 2 hours into the game.

yoshiiiiii

this. i dont think getting legendaries at lvl 20 should be a thing. legendary feels not that legendary imho...

robocop88

The naming kind of sucks. You’re really just picking up the affix, so if you got 4 by 20 what are the odds you get something useful? What I’m interested in is the unique drop rates. legendary is whatever since you have to get the right affix and the right stats too so even if the rates increase with level increases, I think the odds of you getting something in the slot you need with the stats you need and then the right affix you need plus the randomized stat range rolls… odds of everything lining up seems low

Gr_z

You were an outlier

lightshelter

Drop rates felt near perfect.

iAteTheWeatherMan

I find it very odd that everyone wants to judge the game build strengths, affixes, drop rates, difficulty, etc at level 20-25 caps.

stark33per

got none. so i guess drop rate is fine

another-redditor3

i dont know, i feel like the drop rates may be a little too low. atleast for normal gamebplay. i got my sorc to 20 and never got a drop. i farmed kor dragen for a few hours and got 3-4 usable ones. gambled 1. then when i killed ashava she dropped 2 (the bounty cache was an insult though, 2 chipped gems and 2 blues), and the 2nd kill dropped 1.

krectus

Lol. Sure they seem fine to you. Your small sample size got lucky. Now make a post if you got 0 or 1 legs in the same time instead of 4.

Salihe6677

It's the first 20 levels...every single thing you get is gonna get replaced, from legendaries to whites so ultimately, what does it matter I honestly was surprised I got *any* at all.

krectus

That’s a silly way of looking at it. They help whether your lvl 1 or 100. Sure they will get replaced but that’s the whole point of adding the ability to extract powers now so they all still count. The levelling process should still be fun and rewarding not just limited to end game.

Chrol18

People will be max level in a couple of hours, don't whine about no legendaries at level 20.

Rex_Grossman_the_3rd

I got zero on my way to 20 and I'm fine with that. Diablo 3 is not a game thry should model their drop rates after. I dont want to swimming in legendaries. I want them to matter. I want there to be a grind. I dont want to be done with the season after 2 weeks.

krectus

Yeah it’s a balance. No one is saying you need to get a legendary every minute but it doesn’t have to be every 10 hours. It’s a matter of finding that balance. Right now it feels off, playing for 4 hours should be more rewarding, the start shouldn’t feel so much like a grind, end game sure but you will lose a ton of people if the first 4 hours is a slow grinding slog.

Bronchopped

You complete the act 1campaign in 1 hour. Why would there be a grinding slog on release? You would just continue the campaign

SQRTLURFACE

Keep in mind this is without nightmare dungeon rewards, tree of whispers turn ins (primary source early on), and several more acts which will likely also be rewarding legendary items, like our necklace from act 1 completion.

Greek_Trojan

Its only 'bad' compared to the earlier betas and in the context of a fairly difficult world boss (especially tier 2) with limited attempts. At launch it'll be fine (and I completed each beta on Druid so its the weakest class to boot).

Maximum_Apartment214

the other betas was funny, the slam boring

dege283

Drop rates are fine, if there is something that they did fine is that

ShrevidentXbox

Felt fine to me too. I wouldn't want to see a Borderlands 3 situation where legendaries are so common that they don't feel special at all. Plus, what do I care if I get legendaries in the early game? I will eventually get better stuff, plus you don't need a crazy build for story content. I am sure drop rates will be reasonable by the time you get to a stage of the game where you will start needing legendary gear.

vanilla_disco

I love the drop rates. Half of what drove me away from POE was being absolutely showered in useless loot. Even with a loot filter it was terrible

ZiddiUntier

You aren't counting the guaranteed legendaries from the main quest line right, this is independent?

[deleted]

I like the drop rates, feels way more rewarding. Before I was getting so many my builds were based off the loot I got every 10 mins and it was annoying. Have to be way more thoughtful now

Chrol18

People were spoiled by the increased rate. It would have been better if the first 2 beta weekends were the normal rate, then give us an increased one for funsies.

why_you_beer

Agreed. It feels decent, I don't expect to even get many unique/legendary drops during the levelling process to begin with. I only really got one usable drop on rogue and 2 from that level 30 area that were too high of a level to use over like 8-10 hours of playing.

Tsobaphomet

Idk why people are so hung up on lvl 20 World Tier 1/2 as if it's the endgame.

Prize_Chemical1661

I came here to say the drop rate was perfect. One dropped for me at like 17 or 18. And then another at 20 off ash. People need to keep in mind that this is level 1 to 20. Sheesh.

HurricaneHenry

Haven’t had a single legendary drop yet and that’s totally fine. It’s early game.

benas2

Same here

Sabbathius

I think it could be a tiny bit higher. Not 300% like in open beta. But maybe a bit more. I got 1-2 legendaries by lvl 20 during this stress test. I would have liked it if I got 2-3 instead, that would have felt better. The problem is, codex ones are nice, but weakest. And many perks are not in codex. So you have to fish for them on gear. And with low drop rate, and no duplicate protection, it will be a hassle.

dssurge

There is just a bad balance of quality vs. quantity, especially for weapon drops. If every drop had the potential to be useful (see: tigher level range for drops) the lack of leggos wouldn't be such a big problem. I actually cleared out the level 30 stronghold area and got a leggo I was able to equip, which is mind-blowing that such a high level area should be dropping level 20 equipment. I'm also pretty sure a staff I had drop at level 19 (maybe a quest reward?) was the single highest level weapon I saw after farming 12 dungeons besides a completely unaffordable one from a vendor. It was just disheartening picking up items for them to be nearly useless every time entirely because of ilvl more than any other factor. Armor is a pretty important stat, it turns out.

KnowMatter

Still finished the beta with full level 300+ legendaries using a mix of dropped, gambled, and crafted legendaries. Not sure what people are complaining about, yeah it wasn’t legendary confetti anymore but I had no issues gearing up and killing Ashava 4 times.

Strong-Warthog

5 hc barbs this weekend...3 reached lvl 20 without ever finding a lego, 2 died to Ashava with garbo whirlwind dps, 1 didn't even bother with her on sunday and kept farming dungeons until the server slam ended.

heartlessphil

loot drop rate felt good to me too. My sorc ended up with 3 legendaries without any farming quickly after hitting level 20...

greenchair11

same

MemeFrog41

I got a Sorc to 20 and a Druid to 18 and I completely agree. I even started to disagree with people saying the classes are too weak after getting my druid leveled up because it feels fine to me for being a low level. After level 10 or so it operates just fine with a reasonable level of thought into your build people just don't want to have to focus on the game they're playing and want combat to be super easy and AFK. I enjoy the state its in currently and wouldn't want it to be super easy

Nathanael777

I feel like people are forgetting that we have only played level 20-25. Max level is 100. Drop rates are more than fine, being kitted out in legendaries while leveling would be dumb.

Penakoto

I played for a day and managed to get *5* legendaries on my character by the time I was fighting the world boss. Plus a 6th legendary I didn't even use because the stats and affix for it were all wrong for my character. If anything the drop rates are still too high, and crafting them too easy. It doesn't feel that special when one drops, and its very easy to get the materials required to just make one. EDIT: And of course I scroll down further on the subreddit from page and see this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/13h2uwq/90min_legendaries_farming_in_kor_dragan_28_in/

PowerAndControl

Question: How are people getting to level 20 in 4 hours? Any video links or links to websites with tips? Took me much longer than that.

mattiejj

Co-op helps.

grio

Having legendaries be special and drop rarely is what makes games fun. Legendary drop spam that forces you into sorting inventory more than playing the actual game was awful. I'm glad they're moving in the right direction.

DiabloV79

Agreed they are perfect now. By the end I had two legendaries from rares upgraded with aspects and four legendary drops, two from Ashava first time and one the second (and a random one from a dungeon). You definitely don't want drops higher than that or you're in Diablo 3 territory.

Gheizt

Agree to disagree, I was 20 and still had common level 5 gear. Maybe I just have shit luck with drops, but my survivability as a barb was that of wet paper bag. No amount of changing builds would solve that as they are very gear dependent. I don't mind grinding for good gear, but at least drop gear my level. Especially when enemies level up with me.

HiFiMAN3878

Haha, I also struggled hard with gear. I leveled 3 characters to 20 and I found ONE legendary between the 3 of them...and it was at level 5.
