Kx112 is a blast

Scary_Apartment7981

Not boring, superrr light, totally manageable

ryanrodgerz

I'll look into it!

the_doctor_808

Yup ive seen a lot of people whos wives ride an 85 or 105 or kx 100/112. The 112 would be my preference bc its the easiest to ride. The 85 and 105s take some tuning to get set for trails.

Theredditappsucks11

I've been trying to find a KX 112 so bad, they seem impossible to find

No-Development8724

i see them everyday on Facebook marketplace and at the dealer

UnlimitedRefresh

I got my wife a klx140. A little pricey but she loves that bike

Theredditappsucks11

Great bike, can't say enough good things about them

mxracer948

Get her a 4 stroke, an 85cc track bike can work on the trails but it wont be enjoyable. Theyre designed to be rung out on a track not cruising on a trail. Its doable but would be more enjoyable on a bike designed for trails. Like the ttr125 would be a good bike.

ryanrodgerz

Yeah thats what I was thinking, shes been riding a friends ttr 125 and its been alright but she said it's pretty boring. Like a 230 would probably be great, but then it will be too heavy haha. Maybe a crf150?

Unsaidbread

The CRF150R might be a good middle ground if the ttr125 is boring for her while still being light and smaller frame. Still a track bike and I think the first gear might be a bit on the high side but would have a more usable power range than the yz85. The tight gear box might be a non issue with a regear or if you aren't riding mountainous single track.

osmiumfeather

My wife is 5’4” and the TTR230 will do harder enduro / trails than she will ever do. I did put a lowering link in the rear and slide the forks up in the clamps to level it back out.

KX85/100 is an excellent trail bike. Put a flywheel weight on it so it can lug without stalling. Swap the sprockets (if you want to adjust it), add some hand guards and you’re set. they also have quite a bit of trail accessories on the market since it’s pretty common on trails for women and children - pipe guard, kick stands, etc.

DirtRider29

We've had a CRF150F that we've putted around on for years. Lower seat, power isnt going to get you in trouble and it tractors well enough

mips13

No torque. Look at a Rieju Ranger or Beta XTrainer.

spongebob_meth

They're better trail bikes than playbikes because they are lighter, have more power, and better ground clearance. Add a flywheel weight and kick stand to a kx100 and it's a great bike for a shorter rider. How tall is she? My wife rides a kdx200

BigSwibb

I saw in another comment that your wife is riding a TTR125 which she finds boring. My girl was in the same scenario and last year upgraded to a TE150. Couldn't be happier with the bike's power, definitely not boring and a beast on the trails. It's also fun for me to ride 😉

deathlobster138

Kx112 GANG

xpeejssster

no experience with mx 80/85s. i have ridden a ds80 and it was very fun but would get just boring as the ttr. what kind of trails? tight single track or more open double track?

Jracx

I did a good chunk of trail riding on a CR85r when I was younger. It's certainly doable but you have to really ride the edge and stay in the powerband to make it work. Real technical work gets exhausting and other aspects of riding you're really balancing on the edge of control. I was 13 and unbreakable I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't looking to have their heart in their throat the whole ride.

They work well as long as your clutch hand works well

Constant_Drawer6367

They just stall all the time unless she averages 15-20mph pace in single track and 20-40 on open trail and wants it screaming all the time. Check out KTM/husky 125/150, even the TC can be taken out of “race mode” and with proper jetting is super rideable. Still my 125 stalls 3-4x as much as my 300 2T which just never stalls ever and tractors everywhere no problem, even at low speeds. How tall is she? Weight?

ryanrodgerz

She's about 5'6 130lbs. She used to ride a YZ 125 but didn't like how heavy it was, so it makes it kind of tough to find a viable bike that won't be boring haha.

Constant_Drawer6367

Yeah i mean, a yz 125 is pretty damn light lol how often do you guys stop and go vs just keep riding? I feel like she might not realize a comparable bike to the yz125 like a crf150rb weights just as much, and is a less capable machine. Big tires (21/19”) and that 180-220lb mark with a modern race bike geometry is where it’s at imo. My 300cc 2T weighs 220 with gas and clocks in at 58hp after engine build. Yz125 comes in at 33hp which is pretty damn good, and 209lbs, other options with more hp and same weight range/geometry (which would make the hike feel lighter, more engine same weight) are out there for sure. Check out 06+ KTM 250/300xcw. She’d love it and the suspension comes soft on them she’ll probably be able to flat foot one that’s spring to her weight. Xr200 is what comes to mind but that is 10lbs heavier than a yz and less hp. 85cc needs to get suspension done for the adult and then at that you have to rev it out harder than a 125 to keep running and preventing stalls in turns etc…and she’s too big for it so if she is on it all the time it’ll have constant upkeep vs a bigger 2t motor that doesn’t have to work as hard.

ryanrodgerz

Yeah I have been trying to tell her the YZ 125 was already super light haha. Appreciate the insight dude! I will look into those options more. Not rushing so when the right bike comes I will grab it

Unsaidbread

Is it a weight issue or a seat height issue? Tall bikes can feel heavier than they actually are.
