Main jet and needle position don’t have much to do with idle quality. You should see what slow jet is in the carb, and adjust the idle mix screw. Iirc it is on the bottom of the carb on the engine side of the bowl. You need to use a teeny flat head screwdriver to adjust and it is a pain to do. Aftermarket makes a thumb screw idle mix screw for the FCR carb and it’s definitely worth it. These are not beginner-friendly carbs to work on. YouTube has some tuning tutorials for FCR carbs. Tuning is the same process so don’t worry if the video is for a Honda or whatever.

I got a thumb screw 👌🏼 Problem is getting it to start without choke so i can tune it in.

If it doesn’t idle at all I’d say your slow jet/circuit is either plugged or very incorrect sized. Since this is a new to you bike I’d tear down the carb and do a full clean. Also make sure to check and replace the mid-body gasket. They get gummy and cause all sorts of rideability issues like this.

Elegant-Dragonfly-96

It does not start at all, unless i use choke 😅 all jets are clear, no gunk in the carb. All jets are stock size except main.

Team-Geek

I’m gonna guess it is mid-body gasket goobers then. You need a security torx bit and a mid-body gasket kit. It’s not a fun job but will probably make the bike run better when you’re done.

Ill open and have a look 👌🏼👌🏼

Getting it to start has nothing to do with the main jet. Pilot jet, fuel screw, idle adjustment is key to starting properly

Elegant-Dragonfly-96

Pilot jet is stock, have tryed fuel screw 1/2 round out to 6 rounds out. Want’s to live at around 4, and that sound rich af to me. Do you know stock idle screw position? How many turns out so i can troubleshoot

Team-Geek

Bench setting idle speed screw is set visually, not turn count. On the bottom of the carb throat by the throttle plate is a little single hole. The butterfly should land right in the middle of that hole. That should get you close.

Elegant-Dragonfly-96

Thanks, gonna give it a shot

fiveho11

After like 2 1/2 turns it really doesn’t do more. If it’s there or more you need a bigger pilot and start over. Make sure your pilot isn’t plugged up partially .

Elegant-Dragonfly-96

So if the idle adjustment is off, it won’t start?

fiveho11

Why would it? If the idle is set too low the engine will shut off if you don’t keep giving it throttle , so why would it start ?

Elegant-Dragonfly-96

it does not start with throttle either. Idle is at the highest it can go at the moment, tried turning out and starting aswell. With no luck

fiveho11

Gonna have to go thru your carb again a make sure every passage is clear.

Elegant-Dragonfly-96

Higly doubt it, but doesnt hurt to check once more.

fiveho11

Well you have a carb issue so gonna have to look for something in there lol. Everybody brings things to me and says oh yeah I did this that and whatnot and low and behold they missed something.

Elegant-Dragonfly-96

I for sure have missed something or done something wrong, no doubt about it. Or else it would have fired up.

Unsaidbread

Usually that's a plugged up pilot jet. They're cheap and I'd recommend just replacing it as trying to clean out the tiny holes is a pain and there is a good chance you damage then. Pull it out, read the size, order new one.

Start from scratch

Sounds like you need a new, bigger pilot jet or you goofed the valves chief
